1. నా కుమారుడా, నీ చెలికానికొరకు పూటపడిన యెడల పరునిచేతిలో నీవు నీ చేయి వేసినయెడల

1. My son, if you are surety for your friend, if you have struck your hands with a stranger,

2. నీ నోటి మాటలవలన నీవు చిక్కుబడియున్నావు నీ నోటి మాటలవలన పట్టబడియున్నావు

2. you are snared with the words of your mouth; you are captured with the words of your mouth.

3. నా కుమారుడా, నీ చెలికానిచేత చిక్కుబడితివి. నీవు త్వరపడి వెళ్లి విడిచిపెట్టుమని నీ చెలికానిని బలవంతము చేయుము.

3. My son, do this then, and deliver yourself when you come into the hand of your friend: go humble yourself and entreat your friend.

4. ఈలాగు చేసి తప్పించుకొనుము నీ కన్నులకు నిద్రయైనను నీ కనురెప్పలకు కునుకుపాటైనను రానియ్యకుము.

4. Do not give sleep to your eyes, nor slumber to your eyelids.

5. వేటకాని చేతినుండి లేడి తప్పించుకొనునట్లును ఎరుకువాని చేతినుండి పక్షి తప్పించుకొనునట్లును తప్పించుకొనుము.

5. Deliver yourself like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

6. సోమరీ, చీమలయొద్దకు వెళ్లుము వాటి నడతలు కనిపెట్టి జ్ఞానము తెచ్చుకొనుము.

6. Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise;

7. వాటికి న్యాయాధిపతి లేకున్నను పై విచారణకర్త లేకున్నను అధిపతి లేకున్నను

7. who, having no commander, overseer or ruler,

8. అవి వేసవికాలమందు ఆహారము సిద్ధపరచుకొనును కోతకాలమందు ధాన్యము కూర్చుకొనును.

8. provides her bread in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest.

9. సోమరీ, ఎందాక నీవు పండుకొనియుందువు? ఎప్పుడు నిద్రలేచెదవు?

9. How long will you rest, O sluggard? When will you arise out of your sleep?

10. ఇక కొంచెము నిద్రించెదనని కొంచెము కునికెదనని కొంచెముసేపు చేతులు ముడుచుకొని పరుండెదనని నీవనుచుందువు

10. A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest;

11. అందుచేత దోపిడిగాడు వచ్చునట్లు దారిద్ర్యము నీయొద్దకు వచ్చును. ఆయుధధారుడు వచ్చునట్లు లేమి నీయొద్దకు వచ్చును.

11. so shall your poverty come as one walking, and your need like an armed man.

12. కుటిలమైన మాటలు పలుకువాడు పనికిమాలినవాడును దుష్టుడునై యున్నాడు

12. A worthless person, a wicked man, walks with a perverse mouth,

13. వాడు కన్ను గీటుచు కాళ్లతో సైగచేయును వ్రేళ్లతో గురుతులు చూపును.

13. winking with his eyes, speaking with his feet, pointing with his fingers.

14. వాని హృదయము అతిమూర్ఖ స్వభావముగలది వాడెల్లప్పుడు కీడు కల్పించుచు జగడములు పుట్టించును.

14. Perversity is in his heart, he devises evil all the time, he spreads strife.

15. కాబట్టి ఆపద వానిమీదికి హఠాత్తుగా వచ్చును వాడు తిరుగలేకుండ ఆ క్షణమందే నలుగగొట్టబడును.

15. Therefore his calamity shall come suddenly; he shall be broken in an instant without remedy.

16. యెహోవాకు అసహ్యములైనవి ఆరు గలవు ఏడును ఆయనకు హేయములు

16. These six things Jehovah hates; yea, seven are an abomination to his soul:

17. అవేవనగా, అహంకారదృష్టియు కల్లలాడు నాలుకయు నిరపరాధులను చంపు చేతులును

17. Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

18. దుర్యోచనలు యోచించు హృదయమును కీడు చేయుటకు త్వరపడి పరుగులెత్తు పాదములును

18. a heart that devises evil plans, feet hurrying to run to evil,

19. లేనివాటిని పలుకు అబద్ధసాక్షియు అన్నదమ్ములలో జగడములు పుట్టించువాడును.

19. a false witness who breathes lies, and he who spreads strife among brothers.

20. నా కుమారుడా, నీ తండ్రి ఆజ్ఞను గైకొనుము నీ తల్లి ఉపదేశమును త్రోసివేయకుము.

20. My son, keep your father's commands, and do not forsake the instruction of your mother.

21. వాటిని ఎల్లప్పుడు నీ హృదయమునందు ధరించు కొనుము నీ మెడచుట్టు వాటిని కట్టుకొనుము.

21. Bind them perpetually to your heart; tie them around your neck.

22. నీవు త్రోవను వెళ్లునప్పుడు అది నిన్ను నడిపించును నీవు పండుకొనునప్పుడు అది నిన్ను కాపాడును. నీవు మేలుకొనునప్పుడు అది నీతో ముచ్చటించును.

22. When you go, it shall lead you; when you sleep, it shall watch over you; and when you awake, it will speak with you.

23. ఆజ్ఞ దీపముగాను ఉపదేశము వెలుగుగాను ఉండును. శిక్షార్థమైన గద్దింపులు జీవమార్గములు.

23. For the commandment is a lamp, and the law a light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life,

24. చెడు స్త్రీయొద్దకు పోకుండను పరస్త్రీ పలుకు ఇచ్చకపు మాటలకు లోబడకుండను అవి నిన్ను కాపాడును.

24. to keep you from the evil woman, from the seductiveness of the foreign tongue.

25. దాని చక్కదనమునందు నీ హృదయములో ఆశపడకుము అది తన కనురెప్పలను చికిలించి నిన్ను లోపరచుకొన నియ్యకుము.

25. Do not lust after her beauty in your heart, and do not let her captivate you with her eyelids.

26. వేశ్యాసాంగత్యము చేయువానికి రొట్టెతునక మాత్రము మిగిలియుండును. మగనాలు మిక్కిలి విలువగల ప్రాణమును వేటాడును.

26. For on account of a promiscuous woman, a man comes to a loaf of bread; for the man's wife hunts for the precious soul.

27. ఒకడు తన ఒడిలో అగ్ని నుంచుకొనినయెడల వాని వస్త్రములు కాలకుండునా?

27. Can a man take fire into his bosom and his clothes not be burned?

28. ఒకడు నిప్పులమీద నడిచినయెడల వాని పాదములు కమలకుండునా?

28. Or can a man walk on hot coals and his feet not be scorched?

29. తన పొరుగువాని భార్యను కూడువాడు ఆ ప్రకారమే నాశనమగును ఆమెను ముట్టువాడు శిక్ష తప్పించుకొనడు.

29. So is he who goes in to his neighbor's wife; whoever touches her shall not be innocent.

30. దొంగ ఆకలిగొని ప్రాణరక్షణకొరకు దొంగిలిన యెడల యెవరును వాని తిరస్కరింపరు గదా.

30. They do not despise a thief, if he steals to satisfy his soul when he is hungry.

31. వాడు దొరికినయెడల ఏడంతలు చెల్లింపవలెను తన యింటి ఆస్తి అంతయు అప్పగింపవలెను.

31. But if he is found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the wealth of his house.

32. జారత్వము జరిగించువాడు కేవలము బుద్ధిశూన్యుడు ఆ కార్యము చేయువాడు స్వనాశనమును కోరువాడే

32. He who commits adultery with a woman lacks heart; he who does so destroys his own soul.

33. వాడు దెబ్బలకును అవమానమునకును పాత్రుడగును వానికి కలుగు అపకీర్తి యెన్నటికిని తొలగిపోదు.

33. Wounds and dishonor shall befall him, and his reproach shall not be wiped away.

34. భర్తకు పుట్టు రోషము మహా రౌద్రముగలది ప్రతికారము చేయు కాలమందు అట్టివాడు కనికరపడడు.

34. For jealousy is the rage of a man, and he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

35. ప్రాయశ్చిత్తమేమైన నీవు చేసినను వాడు లక్ష్యపెట్టడు ఎంత గొప్ప బహుమానములు నీవిచ్చినను వాడు ఒప్పుకొనడు.

35. He will not regard any bribes, nor will he yield to the giving of many gifts.
