1. తరువాత సొలొమోను ఐగుప్తురాజైన ఫరో కుమార్తెను పెండ్లిచేసికొని అతనికి అల్లుడాయెను. తన నగరును యెహోవా మందిరమును యెరూషలేము చుట్టు ప్రాకార మును కట్టించుట ముగించిన తరువాత ఫరోకుమార్తెను దావీదు పురమునకు రప్పించెను.

1. Then Solomon made a marriage agreement with Pharaoh the king of Egypt. He took Pharaoh's daughter and brought her to the city of David. She stayed there until he had finished building his own house, and the house of the Lord, and the wall around Jerusalem.

2. ఆ దినముల వరకు యెహోవా నామమున కట్టింపబడిన మందిరము లేకపోగా జనులు ఉన్నత స్థలములయందు మాత్రము బలులను అర్పించుచు వచ్చిరి.

2. The people were still giving their different gifts on altars, because no house had yet been built for the name of the Lord.

3. తన తండ్రియైన దావీదు నియమించిన కట్టడలను అనుసరించుచు సొలొమోను యెహోవాయందు ప్రేమయుంచెను గాని యున్నత స్థలములయందు అతడు బలులను మాత్రము అర్పించుచు ధూపము వేయుచు నుండెను.

3. Now Solomon loved the Lord. He walked in the Laws of his father David. But he gave gifts and burned special perfume on different altars.

4. గిబియోను ముఖ్యమైన ఉన్నతస్థలమై యుండెను గనుక బలుల నర్పించుటకై రాజు అక్కడికి పోయి ఆ బలిపీఠముమీద వెయ్యి దహనబలులను అర్పించెను.

4. The king went to give a gift on the altar in worship at Gibeon, for that was where the most important altar was. Solomon gave a thousand burnt gifts on that altar.

5. గిబియోనులో యెహోవా రాత్రివేళ స్వప్నమందు సొలొ మోనునకు ప్రత్యక్షమైనేను నీకు దేని నిచ్చుట నీకిష్టమోదాని నడుగుమని దేవుడు అతనితో సెలవియ్యగా

5. The Lord came to Solomon in a special dream in Gibeon during the night. God said, 'Ask what you wish Me to give you.'

6. సొలొమోను ఈలాగు మనవి చేసెనునీ దాసుడును నా తండ్రియునైన దావీదు నీ దృష్టికి అనుకూలముగా సత్య మును నీతిని అనుసరించి యథార్థమైన మనసు గలవాడై ప్రవర్తించెను గనుక నీవు అతనియెడల పరిపూర్ణ కటాక్షమగు పరచి, యీ దినముననున్నట్లుగా అతని సింహా సనముమీద అతని కుమారుని కూర్చుండబెట్టి అతనియందుమహాకృపను చూపియున్నావు.

6. Then Solomon said, 'You have shown great loving-kindness to Your servant David my father because he was faithful and right and good and pure in heart before You. And You have kept for him this great and lasting love. You have given him a son to sit on his throne this day.

7. నా దేవా యెహోవా, నీవు నా తండ్రియైన దావీదునకు బదులుగా నీ దాసుడనైన నన్ను రాజుగా నియమించి యున్నావు; అయితే నేను బాలుడను, కార్యములు జరుపుటకు నాకు బుద్ధి చాలదు;

7. Now, O Lord my God, You have made Your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child. I do not know how to start or finish.

8. నీ దాసుడనైన నేను నీవు కోరుకొనిన జనుల మధ్య ఉన్నాను; వారు విస్తరించియున్నందున వారిని లెక్క పెట్టుటయు వారి విశాలదేశమును తనకీ చేయుటయు అసాధ్యము.

8. Your servant is among Your people which You have chosen. They are many people. There are too many people to number.

9. ఇంత గొప్పదైన నీ జనమునకు న్యాయము తీర్చగలవాడు ఎవ్వడు? కాబట్టి నేను మంచి చెడ్డలు వివేచించి నీ జనులకు న్యాయము తీర్చునట్లు నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు వివేకముగల హృదయము దయ చేయుము.

9. So give Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people and know the difference between good and bad. For who is able to judge Your many people?'

10. సొలొమోను చేసిన యీ మనవి ప్రభువునకు అనుకూలమాయెను గనుక

10. It pleased the Lord that Solomon had asked this.

11. దేవుడు అతనికి ఈలాగు సెల విచ్చెనుదీర్ఘాయువునైనను ఐశ్వర్యమునైనను నీ శత్రువుల ప్రాణమునైనను అడుగక, న్యాయములను గ్రహించు టకు వివేకము అనుగ్రహించుమని నీవు అడిగితివి.

11. God said to him, 'You have asked this, and have not asked for a long life for yourself. You have not asked for riches, or for the life of those who hate you. But you have asked for understanding to know what is right. Because you have asked this,

12. నీవు ఈలాగున అడిగినందున నీ మనవి ఆలకించుచున్నాను; బుద్ధి వివేకములు గల హృదయము నీకిచ్చుచున్నాను; పూర్వికులలో నీవంటివాడు ఒకడును లేడు, ఇకమీదట నీవంటివాడొకడును ఉండడు.

12. I have done what you said. See, I have given you a wise and understanding heart. No one has been like you before, and there will be no one like you in the future.

13. మరియు నీవు ఐశ్వర్య మును ఘనతను ఇమ్మని అడుగక పోయినను నేను వాటిని కూడ నీకిచ్చుచున్నాను; అందువలన నీ దినములన్నిటను రాజులలో నీవంటివాడొకడైనను నుండడు.

13. I give you what you have not asked, also. I give you both riches and honor. So there will be no king like you all your days.

14. మరియు నీ తండ్రియైన దావీదు నా మార్గములలో నడచి నా కట్టడలను నేను నియమించిన ధర్మమంతటిని గైకొనినట్లు నీవు నడచి వాటిని గైకొనిన యెడల నిన్ను దీర్ఘాయుష్మంతునిగా చేసెదను అనెను.

14. And if you walk in My ways and keep My Laws and Word as your father David did, I will allow you to live a long time.'

15. అంతలో సొలొమోను మేలుకొని అది స్వప్నమని తెలిసికొనెను. పిమ్మట అతడు యెరూషలేమునకు వచ్చి యెహోవా నిబంధనగల మందసము ఎదుట నిలువబడి దహనబలులను సమాధానబలులను అర్పించి తన సేవకులందరికిని విందు చేయించెను.

15. Solomon awoke, and saw it was a dream. He came to Jerusalem and stood before the Lord's special box of the agreement. There he gave burnt gifts and peace gifts, and made a special supper for all his servants.

16. తరువాత వేశ్యలైన యిద్దరు స్త్రీలు రాజునొద్దకు వచ్చి అతని ముందర నిలిచిరి.

16. Then two women who sold the use of their bodies came to the king and stood in front of him.

17. వారిలో ఒకతె యిట్లు మనవి చేసెనునా యేలినవాడా చిత్తగించుము, నేనును ఈ స్త్రీయును ఒక యింటిలో నివసించుచున్నాము; దానితో కూడ ఇంటిలో ఉండి నేనొక పిల్లను కంటిని.

17. One of the women said, 'O my lord, this woman and I live in the same house. And I gave birth to a child while she was in the house.

18. నేను కనిన మూడవ దినమున ఇదియు పిల్లను కనెను; మేమిద్దర మును కూడనున్నాము, మేమిద్దరము తప్ప ఇంటిలో మరి యెవరును లేరు.

18. On the third day after I gave birth, this woman gave birth to a child also. And we were alone. There was no one else with us in the house. There were only the two of us.

19. అయితే రాత్రియందు ఇది పడకలో తన పిల్లమీద పడగా అది చచ్చెను.

19. This woman's son died during the night, because she lay on him.

20. కాబట్టి మధ్య రాత్రి యిది లేచి నీ దాసినైన నేను నిద్రించుచుండగా వచ్చి, నా ప్రక్కలోనుండి నా బిడ్డను తీసికొని తన కౌగిటిలో పెట్టుకొని, చచ్చిన తన పిల్లను నా కౌగిటిలో ఉంచెను.

20. So she got up in the night and took my son from my side while I was asleep. She laid him in her arms, and her dead son in my arms.

21. ఉదయమున నేను లేచి నా పిల్లకు పాలియ్య చూడగా అది చచ్చినదాయెను; తరువాత ఉదయమున నేను పిల్లను నిదానించి చూచినప్పుడు వాడు నా కడుపున పుట్టినవాడు కాడని నేను తెలిసికొంటిని.

21. When I got up in the morning to nurse my son, I saw that he was dead. But when I came nearer and looked, I saw that he was not my son who was born to me.'

22. అంతలో రెండవ స్త్రీ అది కాదు;బ్రదికియున్నది నా బిడ్డ చచ్చినది దాని బిడ్డ అని చెప్పగా ఆమెకాదు, చచ్చినదే నీ బిడ్డ బ్రతికియున్నది నా బిడ్డ అనెను. ఈ ప్రకారముగా వారు రాజుసముఖమున మనవిచేయగా

22. Then the other woman said, 'No! The living one is my son, and the dead one is your son.' But the first woman said, 'No! The dead one is your son and the living one is my son.' They spoke this way in front of the king.

23. రాజు బ్రదికియున్నది నా బిడ్డ చచ్చినది నీ బిడ్డ అని యొక తెయు, రెండవది ఆలాగు కాదు చచ్చినది నీ బిడ్డ బ్రదికియున్నది నా బిడ్డ అని చెప్పుచున్నది;

23. Then the king said, 'The one says, 'This is my son who is living, and your son is the dead one.' The other says, 'No! Your son is the dead one. My son is the living one.' '

24. గనుక కత్తి తెమ్మని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను. వారు ఒక కత్తి రాజసన్నిధికి తేగా

24. And the king said, 'Bring me a sword.' So they brought a sword to the king.

25. రాజు రెండు భాగములుగా బ్రదికియుండు బిడ్డను చేసి సగము దీనికిని సగము దానికిని చెరిసగము ఇయ్యవలసినదని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను.

25. And the king said, 'Divide the living child in two. Give half to the one woman and half to the other.'

26. అంతట బ్రదికియున్న బిడ్డయొక్క తల్లి తన బిడ్డ విషయమై పేగులు తరుగుకొని పోయినదై, రాజునొద్దనా యేలిన వాడా, బిడ్డను ఎంతమాత్రము చంపక దానికే యిప్పించుమని మనవిచేయగా, ఆ రెండవ స్త్రీ అది నాదైనను దానిదైనను కాకుండ చెరిసగము చేయుమనెను.

26. Then the mother of the living child had much pity for her son and said to the king, 'O, my lord, give her the living child. Do not kill him.' But the other woman said, 'He will not be mine or yours. Divide him.'

27. అందుకు రాజుబ్రదికియున్న బిడ్డను ఎంతమాత్రము చంపక మొదటిదాని కియ్యుడి, దాని తల్లి అదే అని తీర్పు తీర్చెను.

27. Then the king answered and said, 'Give the first woman the living child. Do not kill him. She is his mother.'

28. అంతట ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరును రాజు తీర్చిన తీర్పునుగూర్చి విని న్యాయము విచారించుటయందు రాజు దైవజ్ఞానము నొందినవాడని గ్రహించి అతనికి భయపడిరి.

28. When all Israel heard how the king had decided, they were afraid of him. For they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do what is right and fair.
