1. తరువాత సొలొమోను ఐగుప్తురాజైన ఫరో కుమార్తెను పెండ్లిచేసికొని అతనికి అల్లుడాయెను. తన నగరును యెహోవా మందిరమును యెరూషలేము చుట్టు ప్రాకార మును కట్టించుట ముగించిన తరువాత ఫరోకుమార్తెను దావీదు పురమునకు రప్పించెను.

1. Shlomo formed an alliance with Pharaoh king of Egypt by marrying Pharaoh's daughter. He brought her into the City of David, [[where she lived]] until he had finished building his own palace, the house of ADONAI and the wall around Yerushalayim.

2. ఆ దినముల వరకు యెహోవా నామమున కట్టింపబడిన మందిరము లేకపోగా జనులు ఉన్నత స్థలములయందు మాత్రము బలులను అర్పించుచు వచ్చిరి.

2. The people, however, were still sacrificing on the high places, because no house had yet been built for the name of [ADONAI.]

3. తన తండ్రియైన దావీదు నియమించిన కట్టడలను అనుసరించుచు సొలొమోను యెహోవాయందు ప్రేమయుంచెను గాని యున్నత స్థలములయందు అతడు బలులను మాత్రము అర్పించుచు ధూపము వేయుచు నుండెను.

3. Shlomo loved ADONAI, living according to the regulations set forth by David his father; nevertheless, he sacrificed and made offerings on the high places.

4. గిబియోను ముఖ్యమైన ఉన్నతస్థలమై యుండెను గనుక బలుల నర్పించుటకై రాజు అక్కడికి పోయి ఆ బలిపీఠముమీద వెయ్యి దహనబలులను అర్పించెను.

4. One time the king went to Giv'on to sacrifice there, because that was the main high place. Shlomo offered a thousand burnt offerings on the altar there.

5. గిబియోనులో యెహోవా రాత్రివేళ స్వప్నమందు సొలొ మోనునకు ప్రత్యక్షమైనేను నీకు దేని నిచ్చుట నీకిష్టమోదాని నడుగుమని దేవుడు అతనితో సెలవియ్యగా

5. At Giv'on ADONAI appeared to Shlomo in a dream at night; God said, 'Tell me what I should give you.'

6. సొలొమోను ఈలాగు మనవి చేసెనునీ దాసుడును నా తండ్రియునైన దావీదు నీ దృష్టికి అనుకూలముగా సత్య మును నీతిని అనుసరించి యథార్థమైన మనసు గలవాడై ప్రవర్తించెను గనుక నీవు అతనియెడల పరిపూర్ణ కటాక్షమగు పరచి, యీ దినముననున్నట్లుగా అతని సింహా సనముమీద అతని కుమారుని కూర్చుండబెట్టి అతనియందుమహాకృపను చూపియున్నావు.

6. Shlomo said, 'You showed your servant David my father much grace, as he lived before you honestly and righteously, having an upright heart with you. You preserved this great grace for him by giving him a son to sit on his throne, as is the case today.

7. నా దేవా యెహోవా, నీవు నా తండ్రియైన దావీదునకు బదులుగా నీ దాసుడనైన నన్ను రాజుగా నియమించి యున్నావు; అయితే నేను బాలుడను, కార్యములు జరుపుటకు నాకు బుద్ధి చాలదు;

7. So now, ADONAI my God, you have made your servant king in the place of David my father; but I am a mere child- I don't know how to lead!

8. నీ దాసుడనైన నేను నీవు కోరుకొనిన జనుల మధ్య ఉన్నాను; వారు విస్తరించియున్నందున వారిని లెక్క పెట్టుటయు వారి విశాలదేశమును తనకీ చేయుటయు అసాధ్యము.

8. Moreover your servant is among your people, whom you chose, a great people so numerous that they cannot be counted.

9. ఇంత గొప్పదైన నీ జనమునకు న్యాయము తీర్చగలవాడు ఎవ్వడు? కాబట్టి నేను మంచి చెడ్డలు వివేచించి నీ జనులకు న్యాయము తీర్చునట్లు నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు వివేకముగల హృదయము దయ చేయుము.

9. Therefore, give your servant an understanding heart able to administer justice to your people, so that I can discern between good and bad- for who is equal to judging this great people of yours?'

10. సొలొమోను చేసిన యీ మనవి ప్రభువునకు అనుకూలమాయెను గనుక

10. What Shlomo had said in making this request pleased [Adonai].

11. దేవుడు అతనికి ఈలాగు సెల విచ్చెనుదీర్ఘాయువునైనను ఐశ్వర్యమునైనను నీ శత్రువుల ప్రాణమునైనను అడుగక, న్యాయములను గ్రహించు టకు వివేకము అనుగ్రహించుమని నీవు అడిగితివి.

11. God said to him, 'Because you have made this request instead of asking long life or riches for yourself, or your enemies' death, but rather asked for yourself understanding to discern justice;

12. నీవు ఈలాగున అడిగినందున నీ మనవి ఆలకించుచున్నాను; బుద్ధి వివేకములు గల హృదయము నీకిచ్చుచున్నాను; పూర్వికులలో నీవంటివాడు ఒకడును లేడు, ఇకమీదట నీవంటివాడొకడును ఉండడు.

12. I am doing what you requested. I am giving you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has never been anyone like you, nor will there ever again be anyone like you.

13. మరియు నీవు ఐశ్వర్య మును ఘనతను ఇమ్మని అడుగక పోయినను నేను వాటిని కూడ నీకిచ్చుచున్నాను; అందువలన నీ దినములన్నిటను రాజులలో నీవంటివాడొకడైనను నుండడు.

13. I am also giving you what you didn't ask for, riches and honor greater than that of any other king throughout your life.

14. మరియు నీ తండ్రియైన దావీదు నా మార్గములలో నడచి నా కట్టడలను నేను నియమించిన ధర్మమంతటిని గైకొనినట్లు నీవు నడచి వాటిని గైకొనిన యెడల నిన్ను దీర్ఘాయుష్మంతునిగా చేసెదను అనెను.

14. More than that, if you will live according to my ways, obeying my laws and [mitzvot] like your father David, I will give you a long life.'

15. అంతలో సొలొమోను మేలుకొని అది స్వప్నమని తెలిసికొనెను. పిమ్మట అతడు యెరూషలేమునకు వచ్చి యెహోవా నిబంధనగల మందసము ఎదుట నిలువబడి దహనబలులను సమాధానబలులను అర్పించి తన సేవకులందరికిని విందు చేయించెను.

15. Shlomo awoke and found it had been a dream. But he went to Yerushalayim, stood before the ark for the covenant of ADONAI and offered up burnt offerings and peace offerings. He also made a feast for all his servants.

16. తరువాత వేశ్యలైన యిద్దరు స్త్రీలు రాజునొద్దకు వచ్చి అతని ముందర నిలిచిరి.

16. After this, there came to the king two women who were prostitutes. After presenting themselves to him,

17. వారిలో ఒకతె యిట్లు మనవి చేసెనునా యేలినవాడా చిత్తగించుము, నేనును ఈ స్త్రీయును ఒక యింటిలో నివసించుచున్నాము; దానితో కూడ ఇంటిలో ఉండి నేనొక పిల్లను కంటిని.

17. one of the women said, 'My lord, I and this woman live in the same house; and when she was in the house, I gave birth to a baby.

18. నేను కనిన మూడవ దినమున ఇదియు పిల్లను కనెను; మేమిద్దర మును కూడనున్నాము, మేమిద్దరము తప్ప ఇంటిలో మరి యెవరును లేరు.

18. Three days after I gave birth, this woman also gave birth. We were there together; there was no one else with us in the house except the two of us.

19. అయితే రాత్రియందు ఇది పడకలో తన పిల్లమీద పడగా అది చచ్చెను.

19. During the night this woman's child died, because she rolled over on top of it.

20. కాబట్టి మధ్య రాత్రి యిది లేచి నీ దాసినైన నేను నిద్రించుచుండగా వచ్చి, నా ప్రక్కలోనుండి నా బిడ్డను తీసికొని తన కౌగిటిలో పెట్టుకొని, చచ్చిన తన పిల్లను నా కౌగిటిలో ఉంచెను.

20. So she got up in the middle of the night and took my son from next to me, while your servant was sleeping, and put it in her arms; and she laid her dead child in my arms.

21. ఉదయమున నేను లేచి నా పిల్లకు పాలియ్య చూడగా అది చచ్చినదాయెను; తరువాత ఉదయమున నేను పిల్లను నిదానించి చూచినప్పుడు వాడు నా కడుపున పుట్టినవాడు కాడని నేను తెలిసికొంటిని.

21. When I awoke in the morning to feed my child from my breast, there it was, dead. But when I took a closer look later in the morning, why, it wasn't my son at all- not the one I gave birth to!'

22. అంతలో రెండవ స్త్రీ అది కాదు;బ్రదికియున్నది నా బిడ్డ చచ్చినది దాని బిడ్డ అని చెప్పగా ఆమెకాదు, చచ్చినదే నీ బిడ్డ బ్రతికియున్నది నా బిడ్డ అనెను. ఈ ప్రకారముగా వారు రాజుసముఖమున మనవిచేయగా

22. The other woman broke in, 'No! The living one is my son, and the dead one is your son!' The first one said, 'No! The dead one is your son and the living one is my son!' This is how they spoke in the presence of the king.

23. రాజు బ్రదికియున్నది నా బిడ్డ చచ్చినది నీ బిడ్డ అని యొక తెయు, రెండవది ఆలాగు కాదు చచ్చినది నీ బిడ్డ బ్రదికియున్నది నా బిడ్డ అని చెప్పుచున్నది;

23. Then the king said, 'This woman says, 'The living one is my son; your son is the dead one'; while the other says, 'No, the dead one is your son, and the living one is my son.'

24. గనుక కత్తి తెమ్మని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను. వారు ఒక కత్తి రాజసన్నిధికి తేగా

24. Bring me a sword,' said the king. They brought a sword to the king.

25. రాజు రెండు భాగములుగా బ్రదికియుండు బిడ్డను చేసి సగము దీనికిని సగము దానికిని చెరిసగము ఇయ్యవలసినదని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను.

25. The king said, 'Cut the living child in two; give half to the one and half to the other.'

26. అంతట బ్రదికియున్న బిడ్డయొక్క తల్లి తన బిడ్డ విషయమై పేగులు తరుగుకొని పోయినదై, రాజునొద్దనా యేలిన వాడా, బిడ్డను ఎంతమాత్రము చంపక దానికే యిప్పించుమని మనవిచేయగా, ఆ రెండవ స్త్రీ అది నాదైనను దానిదైనను కాకుండ చెరిసగము చేయుమనెను.

26. At this, the woman to whom the living child belonged addressed the king, because she felt so strongly toward her son: 'Oh, my lord, give her the living child; you mustn't kill it!' But the other one said, 'It will be neither yours nor mine. Divide it up!'

27. అందుకు రాజుబ్రదికియున్న బిడ్డను ఎంతమాత్రము చంపక మొదటిదాని కియ్యుడి, దాని తల్లి అదే అని తీర్పు తీర్చెను.

27. Then the king answered, 'Give the living child to the first woman, don't kill it, because she is its mother.'

28. అంతట ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరును రాజు తీర్చిన తీర్పునుగూర్చి విని న్యాయము విచారించుటయందు రాజు దైవజ్ఞానము నొందినవాడని గ్రహించి అతనికి భయపడిరి.

28. All Isra'el heard of the decision the king had made and held the king in awe, for they saw that God's wisdom was in him, enabling him to render justice properly.
