1. పిమ్మట దావీదు రామాలోని నాయోతునుండి పారి పోయి యోనాతాను నొద్దకు వచ్చినేను ఏమి చేసితిని? నేను చేసిన దోషమేమి? నా ప్రాణము తీయ వెదకునట్లు నీ తండ్రి దృష్టికి నేను చేసిన పాపమేమని యడుగగా

1. And David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan, What have I done? What is my iniquity, and what is my sin before your father, that he is seeking my life?

2. యానాతానుఆ మాట నీవెన్నటికిని అనుకొనవద్దు, నీవు చావవు; నాకు తెలియజేయకుండ నా తండ్రి చిన్న కార్యమే గాని పెద్దకార్యమేగాని చేయడు; నా తండ్రి ఇదెందుకు నాకు మరుగుచేయుననగా

2. And he said to him, Far be it! You shall not die. Behold, my father shall not do anything great or small, and not reveal it to my ear. And why should my father hide this thing from me? It is not so.

3. దావీదునేను నీ దృష్టికి అనుకూలుడనను సంగతి నీ తండ్రి రూఢిగా తెలిసికొని, యోనాతానునకు చింత కలుగకుండుటకై యిది అతనికి తెలుపననుకొనుచున్నాడు; అయితే యెహోవా జీవముతోడు నీ జీవముతోడు నిజముగా నాకును మరణమునకును అడుగు మాత్రమున్నదని ప్రమాణము చేయగా

3. And David again swore and said, Your father has certainly known that I have found favor in your eyes; and he said, Do not let Jonathan know this, that he not be grieved. And yet, as Jehovah lives, and your soul lives, there is only a step between me and death.

4. యోనాతానునీకేమి తోచునో దానినే నేను నీ యెడల జరుపుదు ననెను.

4. And Jonathan said to David, What your soul may say, I also will do for you.

5. అందుకు దావీదురేపటిదినము అమా వాస్య; అప్పుడు నేను తప్పక రాజుతోకూడ కూర్చుండి భోజనము చేయవలెను; అయితే ఎల్లుండి సాయంత్రమువరకు చేనిలో దాగుటకు నాకు సెలవిమ్ము.

5. And David said to Jonathan, Behold, the new moon is tomorrow. And sitting I should certainly sit with the king to eat. And you shall send me away, and I shall be hidden in the field until the third evening.

6. ఇంతలో నీ తండ్రి నేను లేకపోవుట కనుగొనగా నీవు ఈ మాట చెప్పవలెను. దావీదు ఇంటివారికి ఏటేట బలి చెల్లించుమర్యాద కద్దు. కాబట్టి అతడు బేత్లెహేమను తన పట్టణమునకు పోవలెనని నన్ను బ్రతిమాలి నాయొద్ద సెలవుపుచ్చు కొనెను.

6. If looking your father looks for me, then you shall say, David asked earnestly of me to run to his city Bethlehem; for the yearly sacrifice is there for all the family.

7. అతడుమంచిదని సెలవిచ్చిన యెడల నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు క్షేమమే కలుగును; అతడు బహుగా కోపించినయెడల అతడు నాకు కీడుచేయ తాత్పర్యము గలవాడై యున్నాడని నీవు తెలిసికొని

7. If he shall say so, Good! Peace shall be for your servant. But if it burns him greatly, know that evil has been determined by him.

8. నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు ఒక ఉపకారము చేయవలెను; ఏమనగా యెహోవా పేరట నీతో నిబంధన చేయుటకై నీవు నీ దాసుడనైన నన్ను రప్పించితివి; నాయందు దోషమేమైన ఉండిన యెడల నీ తండ్రియొద్దకు నన్నెందుకు తోడుకొని పోదువు? నీవే నన్ను చంపుమని యోనాతానునొద్ద మనవి చేయగా

8. And you shall do kindness to your servant, for you have brought your servant with you into a covenant of Jehovah. And if there is iniquity in me, you kill me. For why is this, that you bring me to your father?

9. యోనాతానుఆ మాట ఎన్నటికిని అనరాదు; నా తండ్రి నీకు కీడుచేయ నుద్దేశము గలిగియున్నాడని నాకు నిశ్చయమైతే నీతో తెలియజెప్పుదును గదా అని అనగా

9. And Jonathan said, Far be it from you! For if I knew with certainty that evil was determined by my father to come on you, would I not tell it to you?

10. దావీదునీ తండ్రి నన్నుగూర్చి నీతో కఠినముగా మాటలాడినయెడల దాని నాకు తెలియజేయువారెవరని యోనాతాను నడిగెను.

10. Then David said to Jonathan, Who shall tell me? Or what if your father answers harshly?

11. అందుకు యోనాతానుపొలము లోనికి వెళ్లుదము రమ్మనగా, ఇద్దరును పొలములోనికి పోయిరి.

11. And Jonathan said to David, Come, and we shall go out to the field; and both of them went out to the field.

12. అప్పుడు యోనాతానుఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు దేవుడైన యెహోవా సాక్షి; రేపైనను ఎల్లుండియైనను ఈ వేళప్పుడు నా తండ్రిని శోధింతును; అప్పుడు దావీదునకు క్షేమ మవునని నేను తెలిసికొనినయెడల నేను ఆ వర్తమానము నీకు పంపక పోవుదునా?

12. And Jonathan said to David, Jehovah the God of Israel be witness when I search my father about this time tomorrow, or the third day, and behold, there is good toward David and I do not send to you and do not reveal it in your ear,

13. అయితే నా తండ్రి నీకు కీడుచేయ నుద్దేశించుచున్నాడని నేను తెలిసికొనినయెడల దాని నీకు తెలియజేసి నీవు క్షేమముగా వెళ్లునట్లు నిన్ను పంపివేయనియెడల యెహోవా నాకు గొప్ప అపాయము కలుగజేయుగాక. యెహోవా నా తండ్రికి తోడుగా ఉండినట్లు నీకును తోడుగా ఉండునుగాక.

13. so may Jehovah do to Jonathan and do much more than this. If it should seem good to my father to do evil to you, then I will reveal it in your ear and send you away. And you shall go in peace; and may Jehovah be with you, as He was with my father.

14. అయితే నేను బ్రదికియుండినయెడల నేను చావకుండ యెహోవా దయచూపునట్లుగా నీవు నాకు దయచూపక పోయిన యెడలనేమి,

14. And not only while I live, even you shall do with me the kindness of Jehovah, that I not die,

15. నేను చనిపోయినయెడల యెహోవా దావీదు శత్రువులను ఒకడైన భూమిమీద నిలువకుండ నిర్మూలము చేసిన తరువాత నీవు నా సంతతివారికి దయ చూపక పోయిన యెడలనేమి యెహోవా నిన్ను విసర్జించును గాక.

15. but you shall not cut off your kindness from my house forever, not even when Jehovah cuts off the enemies of David, each one from off the face of the earth.

16. ఈలాగున యెహోవా దావీదుయొక్క శత్రువుల చేత దాని విచారించునట్లుగా యోనాతాను దావీదు సంతతివారిని బట్టి నిబంధన చేసెను.

16. And Jonathan covenanted with the house of David, that Jehovah should seek it from the hand of David's enemies.

17. యోనాతాను దావీదును తన ప్రాణస్నేహితునిగా ప్రేమించెను గనుక ఆ ప్రేమనుబట్టి దావీదుచేత మరల ప్రమాణము చేయించెను.

17. And Jonathan again made David swear, because he loved him; for he loved him as he loved his own soul.

18. మరియు యోనాతాను దావీదుతో ఇట్లనెనురేపటిదినము అమావాస్య; నీ స్థలము ఖాళిగా కనబడును గదా;

18. And Jonathan said to him, Tomorrow is the new moon, and you shall be expected, for your seat will be empty.

19. నీవు మూడు దినములు ఆగి, యీ పని జరుగు చుండగా నీవు దాగియున్న స్థలమునకు త్వరగా వెళ్లి ఏసెలు అనుబండ దగ్గర నుండుము

19. And on the third day you shall quickly come down, and shall come there to the place where you were hidden in the day of the deed. And you shall remain near the stone Ezel.

20. గురి చూచి ప్రయో గించినట్టు నేను మూడు బాణములను దాని ప్రక్కకు కొట్టి

20. And I will shoot three arrows to the side, shooting at a mark for myself.

21. నీవు వెళ్లి బాణములను వెదకుమని ఒక పనివానితో చెప్పుదునుబాణములు నీకు ఈ తట్టున నున్నవి, పట్టుకొని రమ్మని నేను వానితో చెప్పినయెడల నీవు బయటికి రావచ్చును; యెహోవా జీవముతోడు నీకు ఏ అపా యమును రాక క్షేమమే కలుగును.

21. And, behold, I shall send a boy, saying, Find the arrows! If I expressly say to the boy, Behold, the arrows are on this side of you, take them; then you come, for peace shall be to you, and there is nothing, as Jehovah lives.

22. అయితేబాణములు నీకు అవతల నున్నవని నేను వానితో చెప్పినయెడల పారిపొమ్మని యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడని తెలిసికొని నీవు ప్రయాణమై పోవలెను.

22. But if I say to the young man, Behold, the arrows are away from you and onwards; go, for Jehovah has sent you away.

23. అయితే మనమిద్దరము మాటలాడిన సంగతిని జ్ఞాపకము చేసికొనుము; నీకును నాకును సర్వకాలము యెహోవాయే సాక్షి.

23. As to the thing which we have spoken, you and I; behold, Jehovah is between you and me forever.

24. కాబట్టి దావీదు పొలములో దాగుకొనెను; అమావాస్య వచ్చినప్పుడు రాజు భోజనము చేయకూర్చుండగా

24. And David was hidden in the field. And it was the new moon. And the king sat down by the food to eat.

25. మునుపటివలెనే రాజు గోడదగ్గర నున్న స్థలమందు తన ఆసనముమీద కూర్చునియుండెను. యోనాతాను లేవగా అబ్నేరు సౌలునొద్ద కూర్చుండెను; అయితే దావీదు స్థలము ఖాళిగా నుండెను.

25. And the king sat on his seat, as from time to time, on the seat by the wall. And Jonathan rose up, and Abner sat at Saul's side. And David's place was empty.

26. అయినను అతనికి ఏదో ఒకటి సంభవించినందున అతడు అపవిత్రుడై యుండునేమో, అతడు అపవిత్రుడై యుండుట యవశ్యమని సౌలు అనుకొని ఆ దినమున ఏమియు అనలేదు.

26. But Saul did not say anything on that day, for he said, It is an accident; he is not clean; he is surely not clean.

27. అయితే అమావాస్య పోయిన మరునాడు, అనగా రెండవ దినమున దావీదు స్థలములో ఎవడును లేకపోవుట చూచి సౌలునిన్నయు నేడును యెష్షయి కుమారుడు భోజనమునకు రాక పోవుట ఏమని యోనాతాను నడుగగా

27. And it happened on the day after the new moon, David's place was empty. And Saul said to his son Jonathan, Why has the son of Jesse not come to the meal, either yesterday or today?

28. యోనా తానుదావీదు బేత్లెహేమునకు పోవలెనని కోరి

28. And Jonathan answered Saul, David earnestly asked of me to go to Bethlehem.

29. దయచేసి నన్ను పోనిమ్ము, పట్టణమందు మా యింటివారు బలి అర్పింపబోవుచున్నారునీవును రావలెనని నా సహోదరుడు నాకు ఆజ్ఞాపించెను గనుక నీ దృష్టికి నేను దయ పొందిన వాడనైతే నేను వెళ్లి నా సహోదరులను దర్శించునట్లుగా నాకు సెలవిమ్మని బ్రతి మాలుకొని నాయొద్ద సెలవు తీసికొనెను; అందు నిమిత్తమే అతడు రాజు భోజనపు బల్ల యొద్దకు రాలేదని సౌలుతో చెప్పగా

29. And he said, Please send me away, for we have a family sacrifice in the city, and my brother commanded me. And now, if I have found favor in your eyes, please let me be released, and to see my brothers. So he has not come to the table of the king.

30. సౌలు యోనా తానుమీద బహుగా కోపపడి - ఆగడగొట్టుదాని కొడుకా, నీకును నీ తల్లి మానమునకును సిగ్గుకలుగునట్లుగా నీవు యెష్షయి కుమారుని స్వీకరించిన సంగతి నాకు తెలిసి నది కాదా?

30. And the anger of Saul glowed against Jonathan. And he said to him, Son of a perverse rebelliousness! Do I not know that you have chosen the son of Jesse to your shame, and to the shame of the nakedness of your mother?

31. యెష్షయి కుమారుడు భూమిమీద బ్రదుకునంత కాలము నీకైనను నీ రాజ్యమునకైనను స్థిరత కలుగదు గదా; కాబట్టి నీవు వర్తమానము పంపి అతనిని నా దగ్గరకు రప్పించుము, నిజముగా అతడు మరణమున కర్హుడని చెప్పెను.

31. For as long as the son of Jesse lives on earth you shall not be established, you and your kingdom. And now send and bring him to me, for he is a son of death.

32. అంతట యోనాతాను అత డెందుకు మరణ శిక్ష నొందవలెను? అతడు ఏమి చేసెనని సౌలు నడుగగా

32. And Jonathan answered his father Saul, and said to him, Why should he die? What has he done?

33. సౌలు అతనిని పొడువవలెనని యీటె విసిరెను; అందువలన తన తండ్రి దావీదును చంపనుద్దేశము గలిగియున్నాడని యోనా తాను తెలిసికొని

33. And Saul threw the spear at him, to strike him. And Jonathan knew that it had been determined by his father to kill David.

34. అత్యాగ్రహుడై బల్ల యొద్దనుండి లేచి, తన తండ్రి దావీదును అవమానపరచినందున అతని నిమిత్తము దుఃఖాక్రాంతుడై అమావాస్య పోయిన మరునాడు భోజనము చేయకుండెను.

34. And Jonathan rose up from the table in the heat of anger. And he did not eat food on the second day of the new moon, for he was grieved for David. For his father had put him to shame.

35. ఉదయమున యోనాతాను దావీదుతో నిర్ణయముచేసి కొనిన వేళకు ఒక పనివాని పిలుచుకొని పొలములోనికి పోయెను.

35. And it happened in the morning that Jonathan went out in the field for the meeting with David. And a little boy was with him.

36. నీవు పరుగెత్తికొనిపోయి నేను వేయు బాణ ములను వెదకుమని ఆ పనివానితో అతడు చెప్పగా వాడు పరుగెత్తుచున్నప్పుడు అతడు ఒక బాణము వాని అవతలకు వేసెను.

36. And he said to the boy, Now run and find the arrow which I am shooting. The boy ran, and he shot the arrow, causing it to pass over him.

37. అయితే వాడు యోనాతాను వేసిన బాణము ఉన్నచోటునకు వచ్చి నప్పుడు యోనాతాను వాని వెనుకనుండి కేక వేసి - బాణము నీ అవతలనున్నదని చెప్పి

37. And the boy came to the place of the arrow which Jonathan had shot. And Jonathan called after the boy and said, Is the arrow not away from you and onwards?

38. వాని వెనుక నుండి కేకవేసినీవు ఆలస్యము చేయక దబ్బున రమ్మనెను; యోనాతాను పనివాడు బాణములను కూర్చుకొని తన యజమానునియొద్దకు వాటిని తీసికొని వచ్చెను గాని

38. And Jonathan called after the boy, Hurry, make haste, do not stand! And Jonathan's boy gathered the arrow and came to his master.

39. సంగతి ఏమియు వానికి తెలియక యుండెను. యోనాతానునకును దావీదునకును మాత్రము ఆ సంగతి తెలిసి యుండెను.

39. And the boy did not know anything. Only Jonathan and David knew the matter.

40. యోనాతాను తన ఆయుధములను వాని చేతికిచ్చివీటిని పట్టణ మునకు తీసికొని పొమ్మని చెప్పి వాని పంపివేసెను.

40. And Jonathan gave his weapons to the boy with him, and said to him, Go, bring them to the city.

41. వాడు వెళ్లిపోయిన వెంటనే దావీదు దక్షిణపు దిక్కునుండి బయటికి వచ్చి మూడు మారులు సాష్టాంగ నమస్కారము చేసిన తరవాత వారు ఒకరినొకరు ముద్దుపెట్టుకొనుచు ఏడ్చుచుండిరి. ఈలా గుండగా దావీదు మరింత బిగ్గరగా ఏడ్చెను.

41. The boy left, and David rose up from the south side. And he fell on his face to the ground. And he bowed three times. And they each one kissed his friend. And they each wept on his friend, until David was overcome.

42. అంతట యోనాతానుయెహోవా నీకును నాకును మధ్యను నీ సంతతికిని నా సంతతికిని మధ్యను ఎన్నటెన్నటికి సాక్షిగా నుండునుగాక. మనమిద్దరము యెహోవా నామమును బట్టి ప్రమాణము చేసికొని యున్నాము గనుక మన స్సులో నెమ్మది గలిగి పొమ్మని దావీదుతో చెప్పగా దావీదు లేచి వెళ్లిపోయెను; యోనాతానును పట్టణమునకు తిరిగి వచ్చెను.

42. And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, because we have sworn, the two of us, in the name of Jehovah, saying, Jehovah shall be between you and me, and between my seed and your seed forever. And he rose up and went. And Jonathan went into the city.
