1. పిమ్మట దావీదు రామాలోని నాయోతునుండి పారి పోయి యోనాతాను నొద్దకు వచ్చినేను ఏమి చేసితిని? నేను చేసిన దోషమేమి? నా ప్రాణము తీయ వెదకునట్లు నీ తండ్రి దృష్టికి నేను చేసిన పాపమేమని యడుగగా

1. And Dauid fled from Naioth whiche is in Rama, and came, and said before Ionathan, What haue I done? wherin am I faultie? what is the sinne that I haue committed before thy father, that he seketh my lyfe?

2. యానాతానుఆ మాట నీవెన్నటికిని అనుకొనవద్దు, నీవు చావవు; నాకు తెలియజేయకుండ నా తండ్రి చిన్న కార్యమే గాని పెద్దకార్యమేగాని చేయడు; నా తండ్రి ఇదెందుకు నాకు మరుగుచేయుననగా

2. He sayde vnto him: God forbid, thou shalt not dye: Behold, my father wil do nothing either great or smal, but that he will shewe it me: And howe should my father hyde this thing from me? He will not do it.

3. దావీదునేను నీ దృష్టికి అనుకూలుడనను సంగతి నీ తండ్రి రూఢిగా తెలిసికొని, యోనాతానునకు చింత కలుగకుండుటకై యిది అతనికి తెలుపననుకొనుచున్నాడు; అయితే యెహోవా జీవముతోడు నీ జీవముతోడు నిజముగా నాకును మరణమునకును అడుగు మాత్రమున్నదని ప్రమాణము చేయగా

3. And Dauid sware againe, and sayde: Thy father knoweth that I haue found grace in thyne eyes, & therfore he thinketh, Ionathan shall not knowe it, lest he be sory: And in very deede, euen as the Lorde lyueth, and as thy soule liueth, there is but a steppe betweene me and death.

4. యోనాతానునీకేమి తోచునో దానినే నేను నీ యెడల జరుపుదు ననెను.

4. Then sayde Ionathan vnto Dauid: Whatsoeuer thy soule desireth, that I will do vnto thee.

5. అందుకు దావీదురేపటిదినము అమా వాస్య; అప్పుడు నేను తప్పక రాజుతోకూడ కూర్చుండి భోజనము చేయవలెను; అయితే ఎల్లుండి సాయంత్రమువరకు చేనిలో దాగుటకు నాకు సెలవిమ్ము.

5. And Dauid sayd vnto Ionathan: Beholde, to morowe is the beginning of the moneth, and I should sit with the king at meate: But let me go, that I may hide my selfe in the fieldes vnto the thirde day at euen.

6. ఇంతలో నీ తండ్రి నేను లేకపోవుట కనుగొనగా నీవు ఈ మాట చెప్పవలెను. దావీదు ఇంటివారికి ఏటేట బలి చెల్లించుమర్యాద కద్దు. కాబట్టి అతడు బేత్లెహేమను తన పట్టణమునకు పోవలెనని నన్ను బ్రతిమాలి నాయొద్ద సెలవుపుచ్చు కొనెను.

6. If thy father speake of me, then say: Dauid asked leaue of me, that he might go to Bethlehem to his owne citie, for there is holden a yerely feast for all the kinred.

7. అతడుమంచిదని సెలవిచ్చిన యెడల నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు క్షేమమే కలుగును; అతడు బహుగా కోపించినయెడల అతడు నాకు కీడుచేయ తాత్పర్యము గలవాడై యున్నాడని నీవు తెలిసికొని

7. And if he say it is well done, then thy seruaunt shal haue peace: But and if he be angry, then be sure that wickednesse is vtterly concluded of him.

8. నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు ఒక ఉపకారము చేయవలెను; ఏమనగా యెహోవా పేరట నీతో నిబంధన చేయుటకై నీవు నీ దాసుడనైన నన్ను రప్పించితివి; నాయందు దోషమేమైన ఉండిన యెడల నీ తండ్రియొద్దకు నన్నెందుకు తోడుకొని పోదువు? నీవే నన్ను చంపుమని యోనాతానునొద్ద మనవి చేయగా

8. And then thou shalt shewe mercy vnto thy seruaunt for thou hast ioyned thy seruaunt into a couenant of the Lord with thee: Notwithstandyng, if there be in me iniquitie, slay me thy selfe? for why shouldest thou bring me to thy father?

9. యోనాతానుఆ మాట ఎన్నటికిని అనరాదు; నా తండ్రి నీకు కీడుచేయ నుద్దేశము గలిగియున్నాడని నాకు నిశ్చయమైతే నీతో తెలియజెప్పుదును గదా అని అనగా

9. And Ionathan aunswered, God kepe that from thee: For if I knewe that wickednesse were concluded of my fathere to come vpon thee, woulde not I tel it thee?

10. దావీదునీ తండ్రి నన్నుగూర్చి నీతో కఠినముగా మాటలాడినయెడల దాని నాకు తెలియజేయువారెవరని యోనాతాను నడిగెను.

10. Then sayd Dauid to Ionathan: Who shall tell me? how [shall I knowe] if thy father aunswere thee cruelly?

11. అందుకు యోనాతానుపొలము లోనికి వెళ్లుదము రమ్మనగా, ఇద్దరును పొలములోనికి పోయిరి.

11. And Ionathan sayde vnto Dauid: Come, and let vs go out into the fielde. And they went out both of them into the fielde.

12. అప్పుడు యోనాతానుఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు దేవుడైన యెహోవా సాక్షి; రేపైనను ఎల్లుండియైనను ఈ వేళప్పుడు నా తండ్రిని శోధింతును; అప్పుడు దావీదునకు క్షేమ మవునని నేను తెలిసికొనినయెడల నేను ఆ వర్తమానము నీకు పంపక పోవుదునా?

12. And Ionathan sayde vnto Dauid: O Lorde God of Israel, when I haue groped my fathers mynd, as this time to morowe, or within these three dayes, and if it be wel with Dauid, and I then sende not vnto thee, and shew it thee:

13. అయితే నా తండ్రి నీకు కీడుచేయ నుద్దేశించుచున్నాడని నేను తెలిసికొనినయెడల దాని నీకు తెలియజేసి నీవు క్షేమముగా వెళ్లునట్లు నిన్ను పంపివేయనియెడల యెహోవా నాకు గొప్ప అపాయము కలుగజేయుగాక. యెహోవా నా తండ్రికి తోడుగా ఉండినట్లు నీకును తోడుగా ఉండునుగాక.

13. The Lord do so and muche more vnto Ionathan, But if my father haue pleasure to do thee euyll, I will shewe thee also, and send thee away, that thou mayest go in peace, and the Lorde be with thee, as he hath ben with my father.

14. అయితే నేను బ్రదికియుండినయెడల నేను చావకుండ యెహోవా దయచూపునట్లుగా నీవు నాకు దయచూపక పోయిన యెడలనేమి,

14. And [I require] not whiles I liue, [for I dout not] but thou wilt shewe me the mercie of the Lord, that I die not:

15. నేను చనిపోయినయెడల యెహోవా దావీదు శత్రువులను ఒకడైన భూమిమీద నిలువకుండ నిర్మూలము చేసిన తరువాత నీవు నా సంతతివారికి దయ చూపక పోయిన యెడలనేమి యెహోవా నిన్ను విసర్జించును గాక.

15. But [I require] that thou cut not of thy mercy from my house for euer, no not when the Lord hath destroyed the enemies of Dauid, euery one from the face of the earth.

16. ఈలాగున యెహోవా దావీదుయొక్క శత్రువుల చేత దాని విచారించునట్లుగా యోనాతాను దావీదు సంతతివారిని బట్టి నిబంధన చేసెను.

16. And so Ionathan made a bonde with the house of Dauid, [saying:] Let the lord require it at the handes of Dauids enemies.

17. యోనాతాను దావీదును తన ప్రాణస్నేహితునిగా ప్రేమించెను గనుక ఆ ప్రేమనుబట్టి దావీదుచేత మరల ప్రమాణము చేయించెను.

17. And Ionathan sware againe vnto Dauid, because he loued him (For he loued him as his owne soule)

18. మరియు యోనాతాను దావీదుతో ఇట్లనెనురేపటిదినము అమావాస్య; నీ స్థలము ఖాళిగా కనబడును గదా;

18. Then sayde Ionathan to Dauid: To morowe is the first day of the moone, and thou shalt be missed, because the place where thou wast wont to sit, shall be emptie.

19. నీవు మూడు దినములు ఆగి, యీ పని జరుగు చుండగా నీవు దాగియున్న స్థలమునకు త్వరగా వెళ్లి ఏసెలు అనుబండ దగ్గర నుండుము

19. Therfore thou shalt hyde thy self three dayes, [then] thou shalt go downe quickly, and come to the place where thou diddest hyde thy selfe when the busines was in hande, and shalt remayne by the stone Esel.

20. గురి చూచి ప్రయో గించినట్టు నేను మూడు బాణములను దాని ప్రక్కకు కొట్టి

20. And I wil shoote three arowes on the syde therof, as though I shot them at a marke,

21. నీవు వెళ్లి బాణములను వెదకుమని ఒక పనివానితో చెప్పుదునుబాణములు నీకు ఈ తట్టున నున్నవి, పట్టుకొని రమ్మని నేను వానితో చెప్పినయెడల నీవు బయటికి రావచ్చును; యెహోవా జీవముతోడు నీకు ఏ అపా యమును రాక క్షేమమే కలుగును.

21. And I wil sende a lad, and byd him go seke the arrowes. And if I say vnto the lad, See, the arrowes are on this side thee, bring them: then come thou, for it is peace and no hurt, as the Lorde lyueth:

22. అయితేబాణములు నీకు అవతల నున్నవని నేను వానితో చెప్పినయెడల పారిపొమ్మని యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడని తెలిసికొని నీవు ప్రయాణమై పోవలెను.

22. But and if I say vnto the lad, behold the arows are beyond thee, go thy way, for the Lorde hath sent thee away.

23. అయితే మనమిద్దరము మాటలాడిన సంగతిని జ్ఞాపకము చేసికొనుము; నీకును నాకును సర్వకాలము యెహోవాయే సాక్షి.

23. And as touching this which thou and I haue spoken, behold the Lorde be betweene thee and me for euer.

24. కాబట్టి దావీదు పొలములో దాగుకొనెను; అమావాస్య వచ్చినప్పుడు రాజు భోజనము చేయకూర్చుండగా

24. And so Dauid hid him selfe in the fielde: And when the newe moone was come, the king sate him downe to eate meate.

25. మునుపటివలెనే రాజు గోడదగ్గర నున్న స్థలమందు తన ఆసనముమీద కూర్చునియుండెను. యోనాతాను లేవగా అబ్నేరు సౌలునొద్ద కూర్చుండెను; అయితే దావీదు స్థలము ఖాళిగా నుండెను.

25. And the king sate as at other times vpon his seate, euen vpon his seate by the wall: And Ionathan arose, and Abner sate by Sauls syde, and Dauids place was emptie.

26. అయినను అతనికి ఏదో ఒకటి సంభవించినందున అతడు అపవిత్రుడై యుండునేమో, అతడు అపవిత్రుడై యుండుట యవశ్యమని సౌలు అనుకొని ఆ దినమున ఏమియు అనలేదు.

26. Neuerthelesse, Saul sayde nothing at all that day: For he thought, Some thing hath befallen him, though he were cleane.

27. అయితే అమావాస్య పోయిన మరునాడు, అనగా రెండవ దినమున దావీదు స్థలములో ఎవడును లేకపోవుట చూచి సౌలునిన్నయు నేడును యెష్షయి కుమారుడు భోజనమునకు రాక పోవుట ఏమని యోనాతాను నడుగగా

27. But on the morowe, whiche was the second day of the newe moone, Dauids place was emptie againe: And Saul sayde vnto Ionathan his sonne, Wherfore commeth not that sonne of Isai to meate, neither yesterday nor to day?

28. యోనా తానుదావీదు బేత్లెహేమునకు పోవలెనని కోరి

28. And Ionathan aunswered vnto Saul: Dauid asked licence of me to go to Bethlehem.

29. దయచేసి నన్ను పోనిమ్ము, పట్టణమందు మా యింటివారు బలి అర్పింపబోవుచున్నారునీవును రావలెనని నా సహోదరుడు నాకు ఆజ్ఞాపించెను గనుక నీ దృష్టికి నేను దయ పొందిన వాడనైతే నేను వెళ్లి నా సహోదరులను దర్శించునట్లుగా నాకు సెలవిమ్మని బ్రతి మాలుకొని నాయొద్ద సెలవు తీసికొనెను; అందు నిమిత్తమే అతడు రాజు భోజనపు బల్ల యొద్దకు రాలేదని సౌలుతో చెప్పగా

29. For he sayd: Let me go I pray thee, for our kinred doth hold an offering in the citie, and my brother hath sent for me: and therfore if I haue found fauour in thyne eyes, let me go I pray thee, and see my brethren. This is the cause that he commeth not vnto the kinges table.

30. సౌలు యోనా తానుమీద బహుగా కోపపడి - ఆగడగొట్టుదాని కొడుకా, నీకును నీ తల్లి మానమునకును సిగ్గుకలుగునట్లుగా నీవు యెష్షయి కుమారుని స్వీకరించిన సంగతి నాకు తెలిసి నది కాదా?

30. Then was Saul angry with Ionathan, and sayd vnto him: Thou sonne of the wicked rebellious woman, do not I knowe that thou hast chosen the sonne of Isai vnto thyne owne rebuke, and vnto the rebuke and shame of thy mother?

31. యెష్షయి కుమారుడు భూమిమీద బ్రదుకునంత కాలము నీకైనను నీ రాజ్యమునకైనను స్థిరత కలుగదు గదా; కాబట్టి నీవు వర్తమానము పంపి అతనిని నా దగ్గరకు రప్పించుము, నిజముగా అతడు మరణమున కర్హుడని చెప్పెను.

31. For as long as the sonne of Isai liueth vpon the earth, thou shalt not be stablished, nor yet thy kingdome: Wherfore nowe send and fet him vnto me, for he is the childe of death.

32. అంతట యోనాతాను అత డెందుకు మరణ శిక్ష నొందవలెను? అతడు ఏమి చేసెనని సౌలు నడుగగా

32. And Ionathan aunswered vnto Saul his father, and sayde to him: Wherfore should he dye? what hath he done?

33. సౌలు అతనిని పొడువవలెనని యీటె విసిరెను; అందువలన తన తండ్రి దావీదును చంపనుద్దేశము గలిగియున్నాడని యోనా తాను తెలిసికొని

33. And Saul lift vp a speare to hit him, wherby Ionathan wist well that it was vtterly determined of his father to slay Dauid.

34. అత్యాగ్రహుడై బల్ల యొద్దనుండి లేచి, తన తండ్రి దావీదును అవమానపరచినందున అతని నిమిత్తము దుఃఖాక్రాంతుడై అమావాస్య పోయిన మరునాడు భోజనము చేయకుండెను.

34. And so Ionathan arose from the table in a great anger, and did eate no meate the seconde day of the moneth: for he was sory for Dauid, because his father had done him shame.

35. ఉదయమున యోనాతాను దావీదుతో నిర్ణయముచేసి కొనిన వేళకు ఒక పనివాని పిలుచుకొని పొలములోనికి పోయెను.

35. On the next morning, Ionathan went out into the fielde, at ye time appoynted with Dauid, and a litle lad with him.

36. నీవు పరుగెత్తికొనిపోయి నేను వేయు బాణ ములను వెదకుమని ఆ పనివానితో అతడు చెప్పగా వాడు పరుగెత్తుచున్నప్పుడు అతడు ఒక బాణము వాని అవతలకు వేసెను.

36. And he sayde vnto his boy: Runne, and seke out myne arrowes whiche I shote. And as the boy ran, he shot an arrowe beyond him.

37. అయితే వాడు యోనాతాను వేసిన బాణము ఉన్నచోటునకు వచ్చి నప్పుడు యోనాతాను వాని వెనుకనుండి కేక వేసి - బాణము నీ అవతలనున్నదని చెప్పి

37. And when the lad was come to the place whyther Ionathan had shot the arrowe, Ionathan cryed after the lad, & sayd: Is not the arrowe beyond there?

38. వాని వెనుక నుండి కేకవేసినీవు ఆలస్యము చేయక దబ్బున రమ్మనెను; యోనాతాను పనివాడు బాణములను కూర్చుకొని తన యజమానునియొద్దకు వాటిని తీసికొని వచ్చెను గాని

38. And Ionathan cried after the lad againe: Make speede, haste, & stand not still. And Ionathans lad gathered vp the arrowes, and came to his maister.

39. సంగతి ఏమియు వానికి తెలియక యుండెను. యోనాతానునకును దావీదునకును మాత్రము ఆ సంగతి తెలిసి యుండెను.

39. But the lad wist nothing of the matter, only Ionathan an Dauid wist it.

40. యోనాతాను తన ఆయుధములను వాని చేతికిచ్చివీటిని పట్టణ మునకు తీసికొని పొమ్మని చెప్పి వాని పంపివేసెను.

40. And Ionathan gaue his instrumetes vnto the lad that was with him, and sayd vnto him: Go, and carry them to the towne.

41. వాడు వెళ్లిపోయిన వెంటనే దావీదు దక్షిణపు దిక్కునుండి బయటికి వచ్చి మూడు మారులు సాష్టాంగ నమస్కారము చేసిన తరవాత వారు ఒకరినొకరు ముద్దుపెట్టుకొనుచు ఏడ్చుచుండిరి. ఈలా గుండగా దావీదు మరింత బిగ్గరగా ఏడ్చెను.

41. And assoone as the lad was gone, Dauid arose out of a place that was towarde the south, & fel on his face to the ground, & bowed him selfe three times, And they kissed either other, and wept together, so long till Dauid exceeded.

42. అంతట యోనాతానుయెహోవా నీకును నాకును మధ్యను నీ సంతతికిని నా సంతతికిని మధ్యను ఎన్నటెన్నటికి సాక్షిగా నుండునుగాక. మనమిద్దరము యెహోవా నామమును బట్టి ప్రమాణము చేసికొని యున్నాము గనుక మన స్సులో నెమ్మది గలిగి పొమ్మని దావీదుతో చెప్పగా దావీదు లేచి వెళ్లిపోయెను; యోనాతానును పట్టణమునకు తిరిగి వచ్చెను.

42. And Ionathan sayd to Dauid, Go in peace: And the thinges which we haue sworne both of vs in ye name of the lord, saying, the Lord be betweene thee & me, and betweene thy sede & myne: let them stand for euer. And he arose, & departed: And Ionathan went into the towne.
