1. యెహోవా ఈలాగు సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడు ఈ పట్టణములో నిలిచియున్నవారు ఖడ్గముచేతనైనను క్షామము చేతనైనను తెగులుచేతనైనను చత్తురు గాని కల్దీయులయొద్దకు బయలు వెళ్లువారు బ్రదుకుదురు, దోపుడుసొమ్ముదక్కించు కొనునట్లు తమ ప్రాణము దక్కించుకొని వారు బ్రదుకుదురు.

1. One day, Shephatiah, Gedaliah, Jehucal, and Pashhur heard me tell the people of Judah

2. యెహోవా ఈలాగు సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడు ఈ పట్టణము నిశ్చయముగా బబులోనురాజు దండుచేతికి అప్పగింపబడును, అతడు దాని పట్టుకొనును అని యిర్మీయా ప్రజల కందరికి ప్రకటింపగా

2. that the LORD had said, 'If you stay here in Jerusalem, you will die in battle or from disease or hunger, and the Babylonian army will capture the city anyway. But if you surrender to the Babylonians, they will let you live.'

3. మత్తాను కుమారుడైన షెఫట్య యును పషూరు కుమారుడైన గెదల్యాయును షెలెమ్యా కుమారుడైన యూకలును మల్కీయా కుమారుడైన పషూరును వినిరి గనుక ఆ ప్రధానులు రాజుతో మనవి చేసిన దేమనగా ఈ మనుష్యుడు ఈ ప్రజలకు నష్టము కోరువాడేగాని క్షేమము కోరువాడుకాడు.

4. ఇతడు ఇట్టి సమాచారము వారికి ప్రకటన చేయుటవలన ఈ పట్టణ ములో నిలిచియున్న యోధుల చేతులను ప్రజలందరి చేతులను బలహీనము చేయుచున్నాడు; చిత్తగించి వానికి మరణశిక్ష విధింపుము.

4. So the four of them went to the king and said, 'You should put Jeremiah to death, because he is making the soldiers and everyone else lose hope. He isn't trying to help our people; he's trying to harm them.'

5. అందుకు రాజైన సిద్కియా అతడు మీవశమున ఉన్నాడు, రాజు మీకు అడ్డము రాజాలడనగా

5. Zedekiah replied, 'Do what you want with him. I can't stop you.'

6. Then they took me back to the courtyard of the palace guards and let me down with ropes into the well that belonged to Malchiah, the king's son. There was no water in the well, and I sank down in the mud.

7. రాజు బెన్యామీను ద్వారమున కూర్చునియుండగా రాజు ఇంటి లోని కూషీయుడగు ఎబెద్మెలెకను షండుడు,

7. Ebedmelech from Ethiopia was an official at the palace, and he heard what they had done to me. So he went to speak with King Zedekiah, who was holding court at Benjamin Gate.

8. వారు యిర్మీ యాను గోతిలో వేసిరను సంగతి విని, రాజు నగరులో నుండి బయలువెళ్లి రాజుతో ఈలాగు మనవి చేసెను

9. రాజా, నా యేలినవాడా, ఆ గోతిలో వేయబడిన యిర్మీయా అను ప్రవక్తయెడల ఈ మనుష్యులు చేసినది యావత్తును అన్యాయము; అతడున్న చోటను అతడు అకలిచేత చచ్చును, పట్టణములోనైనను ఇంకను రొట్టె లేమియు లేవు.

9. Ebedmelech said, 'Your Majesty, Jeremiah is a prophet, and those men were wrong to throw him into a well. And when Jerusalem runs out of food, Jeremiah will starve to death down there.'

10. అందుకు రాజునీవు ఇక్కడనుండి ముప్పదిమంది మనుష్యులను వెంటబెట్టుకొనిపోయి, ప్రవక్త యైన యిర్మీయా చావకమునుపు ఆ గోతిలోనుండి అతని తీయించుమని కూషీయుడగు ఎబెద్మెలెకునకు సెలవియ్యగా

10. Zedekiah answered, 'Take thirty of my soldiers and pull Jeremiah out before he dies.'

11. ఎబెద్మెలెకు ఆ మనుష్యులను వెంటబెట్టు కొని రాజనగరులో ఖజానా క్రింది గదిలోనికి వచ్చి,

11. Ebedmelech and the soldiers went to the palace and got some rags from the room under the treasury. He used ropes to lower them into the well.

12. అచ్చటనుండి పాతవైన చింకిబట్టలను చిరిగి చీరాకులైన గుడ్డపాతలను తీసికొని పోయి, ఆ గోతిలోనున్న యిర్మీయా పట్టుకొనునట్లుగా త్రాళ్లచేత వాటినిదింపిపాతవై చిరిగి చీరాకులైన యీ బట్టలను త్రాళ్లమీద నీ చంకలక్రింద పెట్టుకొనుమని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

12. Then he said, 'Put these rags under your arms so the ropes won't hurt you.' After I did,

13. యిర్మీయా ఆలాగు చేయగా వారు యిర్మీయాను త్రాళ్లతో చేదుకొని ఆ గోతిలోనుండి వెలుపలికి తీసిరి; అప్పుడు యిర్మీయా బందీగృహశాలలో నివసించెను.

13. the men pulled me out. And from then on, I was kept in the courtyard of the palace guards.

14. తరువాత రాజైన సిద్కియా యెహోవా మందిరములో నున్న మూడవ ద్వారములోనికి ప్రవక్తయైన యిర్మీయాను పిలువనంపించి అతనితో ఇట్లనెనునేను ఒకమాట నిన్నడుగుచున్నాను, నీవు ఏ సంగతిని నాకు మరుగు చేయక దాని చెప్పుమనగా

14. King Zedekiah had me brought to his private entrance to the temple, and he said, 'I'm going to ask you something, and I want to know the truth.'

15. యిర్మీయా నేను ఆ సంగతి నీకు తెలియజెప్పినయెడల నిశ్చయముగా నీవు నాకు మరణ శిక్ష విధింతువు, నేను నీకు ఆలోచన చెప్పినను నీవు నా మాట వినవు.

15. Why?' I replied. 'You won't listen, and you might even have me killed!'

16. కావున రాజైన సిద్కియా జీవాత్మను మన కనుగ్రహించు యెహోవాతోడు నేను నీకు మరణము విధింపను, నీ ప్రాణము తీయ జూచుచున్న యీ మనుష్యుల చేతికి నిన్ను అప్పగింపను అని యిర్మీయాతో రహస్యముగా ప్రమాణము చేసెను.

16. He said, 'I swear in the name of the living LORD our Creator that I won't have you killed. No one else can hear what we say, and I won't let anyone kill you.'

17. అప్పుడు యిర్మీయా సిద్కియాతో ఇట్లనెనుదేవుడు, ఇశ్రాయేలు దేవుడును సైన్యములకధిపతియునైన యెహోవా ఈలాగు సెలవిచ్చు చున్నాడునీవు బబులోనురాజు అధిపతులయొద్దకు వెళ్లిన యెడల నీవు బ్రదికెదవు, ఈ పట్టణము అగ్నిచేత కాల్చబడదు, నీవును నీ యింటివారును బ్రదుకుదురు.

17. Then I told him that the LORD had said: 'Zedekiah, I am the LORD God All-Powerful, the God of Israel. I promise that if you surrender to King Nebuchadnezzar's officers, you and your family won't be killed, and Jerusalem won't be burned down.

18. అయితే నీవు బబులోను అధిపతుల యొద్దకు వెళ్లనియెడల ఈ పట్టణము కల్దీయుల చేతికి అప్పగింపబడును, వారు అగ్ని చేత దాని కాల్చివేసెదరు, మరియు నీవు వారి చేతిలో నుండి తప్పించుకొనజాలవు.

18. But if you don't surrender, I will let the Babylonian army capture Jerusalem and burn it down, and you will be taken prisoner.'

19. అందుకు రాజైన సిద్కియా యిర్మీయాతో ఇట్లనెనుకల్దీయుల పక్షముగా ఉండు యూదులకు భయపడుచున్నాను; ఒకవేళ కల్దీయులు నన్ను వారి చేతికి అప్పగించినయెడల వారు నన్ను అపహసించెదరు.

19. Zedekiah answered, 'I can't surrender to the Babylonians. I'm too afraid of the Jews that have already joined them. The Babylonians might hand me over to those Jews, and they would torture me.'

20. అందుకు యిర్మీయావారు నిన్నప్పగింపరు, నీవు బ్రదికి బాగుగానుండునట్లు నేను నీతో చెప్పుచున్న సంగతినిగూర్చి యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చు మాటను చిత్తగించి ఆలకించుము.

20. I said, 'If you will just obey the LORD, the Babylonians won't hand you over to those Jews. You will be allowed to live, and all will go well for you.

21. నీవు ఒకవేళ బయలు వెళ్లక పోయినయెడల యెహోవా ఈ మాట నాకు తెలియజేసెను.

21. But the LORD has shown me that if you refuse to obey,

22. యూదా రాజు నగరులో శేషించియున్న స్త్రీలందరు బబులోను అధిపతులయొద్దకు కొనిపోబడెదరు, ఆలాగు జరుగగా ఆ స్త్రీలు నిన్ను చూచినీ ప్రియస్నేహితులు నిన్ను మోసపుచ్చి నీ పైని విజయము పొందియున్నారు, నీ పాదములు బురదలో దిగబడియుండగా వారు వెనుకతీసిరని యందురు.

22. then the women of your palace will be taken prisoner by Nebuchadnezzar's officials. And those women will say to you: Friends you trusted led you astray. Now you're trapped in mud, and those friends you trusted have all turned away.

23. నీ భార్యలందరును నీ పిల్లలును కల్దీయులయొద్దకు కొనిపోబడుదురు, నీవు వారి చేతిలోనుండి తప్పించుకొనజాలక బబులోను రాజుచేత పట్టబడెదవు గనుక ఈ పట్టణమును అగ్నిచేత కాల్చుటకు నీవే కారణమగుదువు.

23. The Babylonian army will take your wives and children captive, you will be taken as a prisoner to the King of Babylonia, and Jerusalem will be burned down.'

24. అందుకు సిద్కియా యిర్మీయాతో ఇట్లనెనునీవు మరణశిక్ష నొంద కుండునట్లు ఈ సంగతులను ఎవనికిని తెలియనియ్యకుము.

24. Zedekiah said, 'Jeremiah, if you tell anyone what we have talked about, you might lose your life.

25. నేను నీతో మాటలాడిన సంగతి అధిపతులు వినినయెడల వారు నీయొద్దకు వచ్చి మేము నిన్ను చంపకుండునట్లు రాజుతో నీవు చెప్పిన సంగతిని రాజు నీతో చెప్పిన సంగతిని మరుగుచేయక మాకిప్పుడే తెలియజెప్పుమనగా

25. And I'm sure that if my officials hear about our meeting, they will ask you what we said to each other. They might even threaten to kill you if you don't tell them.

26. నీవు యోనాతాను ఇంటిలో నేను చనిపోకుండ అక్కడికి నన్ను తిరిగి వెళ్లనంపవద్దని రాజు ఎదుట నేను మనవి చేసికొనబోతినని వారితో చెప్పుమని రాజు యిర్మీయాతో అనెను.

26. So if they question you, tell them you were begging me not to send you back to the prison at Jonathan's house, because going back there would kill you.'

27. అంతట అధిపతులందరు యిర్మీయాయొద్దకు వచ్చి యడుగగా అతడు రాజు సెలవిచ్చిన మాటల ప్రకార ముగా వారికుత్తరమిచ్చి ఆ సంగతి వారికి తెలియజేయనందున వారు అతనితో మాటలాడుట మానిరి.

27. The officials did come and question me about my meeting with the king, and I told them exactly what he had ordered me to say. They never spoke to me about the meeting again, since no one had heard us talking.

28. యెరూష లేము పట్టబడువరకు యిర్మీయా బందీగృహశాలలో ఉండెను.

28. I was held in the courtyard of the palace guards until the day Jerusalem was captured.
