1. యెహోవా ఈలాగు సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడు ఈ పట్టణములో నిలిచియున్నవారు ఖడ్గముచేతనైనను క్షామము చేతనైనను తెగులుచేతనైనను చత్తురు గాని కల్దీయులయొద్దకు బయలు వెళ్లువారు బ్రదుకుదురు, దోపుడుసొమ్ముదక్కించు కొనునట్లు తమ ప్రాణము దక్కించుకొని వారు బ్రదుకుదురు.

1. Shephatiah, Gedaliah, Jehucal and Pashhur heard what I was telling all of the people. Shephatiah was the son of Mattan. Gedaliah was the son of Pashhur. Jehucal was the son of Shelemiah. And Pashhur was the son of Malkijah. Those four men heard me say,

2. యెహోవా ఈలాగు సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడు ఈ పట్టణము నిశ్చయముగా బబులోనురాజు దండుచేతికి అప్పగింపబడును, అతడు దాని పట్టుకొనును అని యిర్మీయా ప్రజల కందరికి ప్రకటింపగా

2. 'The Lord says, 'Those who stay in this city will die of war, hunger or plague. But those who go over to the side of the Babylonians will live. They will escape with their lives. They will remain alive.'

3. మత్తాను కుమారుడైన షెఫట్య యును పషూరు కుమారుడైన గెదల్యాయును షెలెమ్యా కుమారుడైన యూకలును మల్కీయా కుమారుడైన పషూరును వినిరి గనుక ఆ ప్రధానులు రాజుతో మనవి చేసిన దేమనగా ఈ మనుష్యుడు ఈ ప్రజలకు నష్టము కోరువాడేగాని క్షేమము కోరువాడుకాడు.

3. The Lord also says, 'This city will certainly be handed over to the armies of the king of Babylonia. They will capture it.' '

4. ఇతడు ఇట్టి సమాచారము వారికి ప్రకటన చేయుటవలన ఈ పట్టణ ములో నిలిచియున్న యోధుల చేతులను ప్రజలందరి చేతులను బలహీనము చేయుచున్నాడు; చిత్తగించి వానికి మరణశిక్ష విధింపుము.

4. Then those officials said to the king, 'That man should be put to death. What he says is making the soldiers who are left in this city lose hope. It's making all of the people lose hope too. He isn't interested in what is best for the people. In fact, he's trying to destroy them.'

5. 'He's in your hands,' King Zedekiah answered. 'I can't do anything to oppose you.'

6. So they took me and put me into an empty well. It belonged to Malkijah. He was a member of the royal court. His well was in the courtyard of the guard. Zedekiah's men lowered me by ropes into the well. It didn't have any water in it. All it had was mud. And I sank down into the mud.

7. Ebed-Melech was an official in the royal palace. He was from the land of Cush. He heard that I had been put into the well. The king was sitting by the Benjamin Gate at that time.

8. వారు యిర్మీ యాను గోతిలో వేసిరను సంగతి విని, రాజు నగరులో నుండి బయలువెళ్లి రాజుతో ఈలాగు మనవి చేసెను

8. Ebed-Melech went out of the palace. He said to the king,

9. రాజా, నా యేలినవాడా, ఆ గోతిలో వేయబడిన యిర్మీయా అను ప్రవక్తయెడల ఈ మనుష్యులు చేసినది యావత్తును అన్యాయము; అతడున్న చోటను అతడు అకలిచేత చచ్చును, పట్టణములోనైనను ఇంకను రొట్టె లేమియు లేవు.

9. 'My king and master, everything those men have done to the prophet Jeremiah is evil. They have thrown him into an empty well. Soon there won't be any more bread in the city. Then he'll starve to death.'

10. అందుకు రాజునీవు ఇక్కడనుండి ముప్పదిమంది మనుష్యులను వెంటబెట్టుకొనిపోయి, ప్రవక్త యైన యిర్మీయా చావకమునుపు ఆ గోతిలోనుండి అతని తీయించుమని కూషీయుడగు ఎబెద్మెలెకునకు సెలవియ్యగా

10. So the king gave an order to Ebed-Melech from Cush. He said, 'Take 30 men from here with you. Lift the prophet Jeremiah out of the well before he dies.'

11. ఎబెద్మెలెకు ఆ మనుష్యులను వెంటబెట్టు కొని రాజనగరులో ఖజానా క్రింది గదిలోనికి వచ్చి,

11. Then Ebed-Melech took the men with him. He went to a room under the place in the palace where the treasures were stored. He got some old rags and worn-out clothes from there. Then he let them down with ropes to me in the well.

12. అచ్చటనుండి పాతవైన చింకిబట్టలను చిరిగి చీరాకులైన గుడ్డపాతలను తీసికొని పోయి, ఆ గోతిలోనున్న యిర్మీయా పట్టుకొనునట్లుగా త్రాళ్లచేత వాటినిదింపిపాతవై చిరిగి చీరాకులైన యీ బట్టలను త్రాళ్లమీద నీ చంకలక్రింద పెట్టుకొనుమని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

12. Ebed-Melech from Cush told me what to do. He said, 'Put these old rags and worn-out clothes under your arms. They'll pad the ropes.' So I did.

13. యిర్మీయా ఆలాగు చేయగా వారు యిర్మీయాను త్రాళ్లతో చేదుకొని ఆ గోతిలోనుండి వెలుపలికి తీసిరి; అప్పుడు యిర్మీయా బందీగృహశాలలో నివసించెను.

13. Then the men pulled me up with the ropes. They lifted me out of the well. And I remained in the courtyard of the guard.

14. తరువాత రాజైన సిద్కియా యెహోవా మందిరములో నున్న మూడవ ద్వారములోనికి ప్రవక్తయైన యిర్మీయాను పిలువనంపించి అతనితో ఇట్లనెనునేను ఒకమాట నిన్నడుగుచున్నాను, నీవు ఏ సంగతిని నాకు మరుగు చేయక దాని చెప్పుమనగా

14. Then King Zedekiah sent for me. He had me brought to the third entrance to the Lord's temple. 'I want to ask you something,' the king said to me. 'Don't hide anything from me.'

15. యిర్మీయా నేను ఆ సంగతి నీకు తెలియజెప్పినయెడల నిశ్చయముగా నీవు నాకు మరణ శిక్ష విధింతువు, నేను నీకు ఆలోచన చెప్పినను నీవు నా మాట వినవు.

15. I said to Zedekiah, 'Suppose I give you an answer. You will kill me, won't you? Suppose I give you good advice. You won't listen to me, will you?'

16. కావున రాజైన సిద్కియా జీవాత్మను మన కనుగ్రహించు యెహోవాతోడు నేను నీకు మరణము విధింపను, నీ ప్రాణము తీయ జూచుచున్న యీ మనుష్యుల చేతికి నిన్ను అప్పగింపను అని యిర్మీయాతో రహస్యముగా ప్రమాణము చేసెను.

16. But King Zedekiah took an oath. He promised me secretly, 'I won't kill you. And I won't hand you over to those who want to take your life. That's just as sure as the Lord is alive. He's the one who has given us breath.'

17. అప్పుడు యిర్మీయా సిద్కియాతో ఇట్లనెనుదేవుడు, ఇశ్రాయేలు దేవుడును సైన్యములకధిపతియునైన యెహోవా ఈలాగు సెలవిచ్చు చున్నాడునీవు బబులోనురాజు అధిపతులయొద్దకు వెళ్లిన యెడల నీవు బ్రదికెదవు, ఈ పట్టణము అగ్నిచేత కాల్చబడదు, నీవును నీ యింటివారును బ్రదుకుదురు.

17. So I said to Zedekiah, 'The Lord God who rules over all is the God of Israel. He says, 'Give yourself up to the officers of the king of Babylonia. Then your life will be spared. And this city will not be burned down. You and your family will remain alive.

18. అయితే నీవు బబులోను అధిపతుల యొద్దకు వెళ్లనియెడల ఈ పట్టణము కల్దీయుల చేతికి అప్పగింపబడును, వారు అగ్ని చేత దాని కాల్చివేసెదరు, మరియు నీవు వారి చేతిలో నుండి తప్పించుకొనజాలవు.

18. ' 'But what if you do not give yourself up to them? Then this city will be handed over to the Babylonians. They will burn it down. And you yourself will not escape from their powerful hands.' '

19. అందుకు రాజైన సిద్కియా యిర్మీయాతో ఇట్లనెనుకల్దీయుల పక్షముగా ఉండు యూదులకు భయపడుచున్నాను; ఒకవేళ కల్దీయులు నన్ను వారి చేతికి అప్పగించినయెడల వారు నన్ను అపహసించెదరు.

19. King Zedekiah said to me, 'I'm afraid of some of the Jews. They are the ones who have gone over to the side of the Babylonians. The Babylonians might hand me over to them. And those Jews will treat me badly.'

20. అందుకు యిర్మీయావారు నిన్నప్పగింపరు, నీవు బ్రదికి బాగుగానుండునట్లు నేను నీతో చెప్పుచున్న సంగతినిగూర్చి యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చు మాటను చిత్తగించి ఆలకించుము.

20. 'They won't hand you over to them,' I replied. 'Obey the Lord. Do what I tell you to do. Then things will go well with you. Your life will be spared.

21. నీవు ఒకవేళ బయలు వెళ్లక పోయినయెడల యెహోవా ఈ మాట నాకు తెలియజేసెను.

21. Don't refuse to give yourself up. The Lord has shown me what will happen if you do.

22. యూదా రాజు నగరులో శేషించియున్న స్త్రీలందరు బబులోను అధిపతులయొద్దకు కొనిపోబడెదరు, ఆలాగు జరుగగా ఆ స్త్రీలు నిన్ను చూచినీ ప్రియస్నేహితులు నిన్ను మోసపుచ్చి నీ పైని విజయము పొందియున్నారు, నీ పాదములు బురదలో దిగబడియుండగా వారు వెనుకతీసిరని యందురు.

22. All of the women who are left in your palace will be brought out. They'll be given to the officials of the king of Babylonia. Those women will say to you, ' 'Your trusted friends have tricked you. They have gotten the best of you. Your feet are sunk down in the mud. Your friends have deserted you.'

23. నీ భార్యలందరును నీ పిల్లలును కల్దీయులయొద్దకు కొనిపోబడుదురు, నీవు వారి చేతిలోనుండి తప్పించుకొనజాలక బబులోను రాజుచేత పట్టబడెదవు గనుక ఈ పట్టణమును అగ్నిచేత కాల్చుటకు నీవే కారణమగుదువు.

23. 'All of your wives and children will be brought out to the Babylonians. You yourself won't escape from their powerful hands. You will be captured by the king of Babylonia. And this city will be burned down.'

24. అందుకు సిద్కియా యిర్మీయాతో ఇట్లనెనునీవు మరణశిక్ష నొంద కుండునట్లు ఈ సంగతులను ఎవనికిని తెలియనియ్యకుము.

24. Then Zedekiah said to me, 'Don't let anyone know about the talk we've had. If you do, you might die.

25. నేను నీతో మాటలాడిన సంగతి అధిపతులు వినినయెడల వారు నీయొద్దకు వచ్చి మేము నిన్ను చంపకుండునట్లు రాజుతో నీవు చెప్పిన సంగతిని రాజు నీతో చెప్పిన సంగతిని మరుగుచేయక మాకిప్పుడే తెలియజెప్పుమనగా

25. Suppose the officials find out that I've talked with you. And suppose they come to you and say, 'Tell us what you said to the king. Tell us what the king said to you. Don't hide it from us. If you do, we'll kill you.'

26. నీవు యోనాతాను ఇంటిలో నేను చనిపోకుండ అక్కడికి నన్ను తిరిగి వెళ్లనంపవద్దని రాజు ఎదుట నేను మనవి చేసికొనబోతినని వారితో చెప్పుమని రాజు యిర్మీయాతో అనెను.

26. Then tell them, 'I was begging the king not to send me back to Jonathan's house. I don't want to die there.' '

27. అంతట అధిపతులందరు యిర్మీయాయొద్దకు వచ్చి యడుగగా అతడు రాజు సెలవిచ్చిన మాటల ప్రకార ముగా వారికుత్తరమిచ్చి ఆ సంగతి వారికి తెలియజేయనందున వారు అతనితో మాటలాడుట మానిరి.

27. All of the officials came to me. And they questioned me. I told them everything the king had ordered me to say. None of them had heard what I told the king. So they didn't say anything else to me.

28. యెరూష లేము పట్టబడువరకు యిర్మీయా బందీగృహశాలలో ఉండెను.

28. I remained in the courtyard of the guard. I stayed there until the day Jerusalem was captured. Here is how Jerusalem was captured.
