1. కన్యకయైన బబులోనూ, క్రిందికి దిగి మంటిలో కూర్చుండుము కల్దీయుల కుమారీ, సింహాసనము లేకయే నేలమీద కూర్చుండుము నీవు మృదువువనియైనను సుకుమారివనియైనను జనులు ఇకమీదట చెప్పరు.

1. Step down! Sit in the dust, virgin daughter of Babylon. Sit on the ground, no throne, daughter of the Chaldaeans, for never again will you be called tender and delicate.

2. తిరుగటిదిమ్మలు తీసికొని పిండి విసరుము నీ ముసుకు పారవేయుము కాలిమీద జీరాడు వస్త్రము తీసివేయుము కాలిమీది బట్ట తీసి నదులు దాటుము.

2. Take the grinding mill, crush up the meal. Remove your veil, tie up your skirt, bare your legs, cross the rivers.

3. నీ కోకయు తీసివేయబడును నీకు కలిగిన యవమానము వెల్లడియగును నేను ప్రతిదండన చేయుచు నరులను మన్నింపను.

3. Let your nakedness be displayed and your shame exposed. I am going to take vengeance and no one will stand in my way.

4. Our redeemer, Yahweh Sabaoth is his name, the Holy One of Israel, says:

5. కల్దీయుల కుమారీ, మౌనముగా నుండి చీకటిలోనికి పొమ్ము రాజ్యములకు దొరసానియని యికమీదట జనులు నిన్నుగూర్చి చెప్పరు.

5. Sit in silence, bury yourself in darkness, daughter of the Chaldaeans, for never again will you be called the mistress of kingdoms.

6. నా జనులమీద కోపపడి నా స్వాస్థ్యము నపవిత్ర పరచి వారిని నీ చేతికి అప్పగించితిని నీవు వారియందు కనికరపడక వృద్దులమీద నీ కాడి మ్రానును మిక్కిలి బరువుగా మోపితివి.

6. Being angry with my people, I rejected my heritage, surrendering them into your clutches. You showed them no mercy, you made your yoke very heavy on the aged.

7. నేను సర్వదా దొరసానినై యుందునని నీవనుకొని వీటిని ఆలోచింపకపోతివి వాటి ఫలమేమవునో మనస్సునకు తెచ్చుకొనకపోతివి.

7. You thought, 'I shall be a queen for ever.' You did not reflect on these matters or think about the future.

8. కాబట్టి సుఖాసక్తురాలవై నిర్భయముగా నివసించుచు నేనే ఉన్నాను నేను తప్ప మరి ఎవరును లేరు నేను విధవరాలనై కూర్చుండను పుత్రశోకము నేను చూడనని అనుకొనుచున్నదానా, ఈ మాటను వినుము

8. Now listen to this, voluptuous woman, lolling at ease and thinking to yourself, 'I am the only one who matters. I shall never be widowed, never know bereavement.'

9. ఒక్క దినములోగా ఒక్క నిమిషముననే పుత్ర శోకమును వైధవ్యమును ఈ రెండును నీకు సంభ వించును. నీవు అధికముగా శకునము చూచినను అత్యధికమైన కర్ణపిశాచ తంత్రములను నీవు ఆధారముగా చేసికొనినను ఆ యపాయములు నీమీదికి సంపూర్తిగా వచ్చును.

9. Yet both these things will befall you, suddenly, in one day. Bereavement and widowhood will suddenly befall you in spite of all your witchcraft and the potency of your spells.

10. నీ చెడుతనమును నీవు ఆధారము చేసికొని యెవడును నన్ను చూడడని అనుకొంటివి నేనున్నాను నేను తప్ప మరి ఎవరును లేరని నీవను కొనునట్లుగా నీ విద్యయు నీ జ్ఞానమును నిన్ను చెరిపివేసెను.

10. Confident in your wickedness, you thought, 'No one can see me.' Your wishes and your knowledge were what deluded you, as you thought to yourself, 'I am the only one who matters.'

11. కీడు నీమీదికివచ్చును నీవు మంత్రించి దాని పోగొట్ట జాలవు ఆ కీడు నీమీద పడును దానిని నీవు నివారించలేవు నీకు తెలియని నాశనము నీమీదికి ఆకస్మికముగా వచ్చును.

11. Hence, disaster will befall you which you will not know how to charm away, calamity overtake you which you will not be able to avert, ruination will suddenly befall you, such as you have never known.

12. నీ బాల్యమునుండి నీవు ప్రయాసపడి అభ్యసించిన నీ కర్ణపిశాచ తంత్రములను నీ విస్తారమైన శకునములను చూపుటకు నిలువుము ఒకవేళ అవి నీకు ప్రయోజనములగునేమో ఒకవేళ నీవు మనుష్యులను బెదరింతువేమో

12. Keep to your spells then, and all your sorceries, at which you have worked so hard since you were young. Perhaps you will succeed, perhaps you will strike terror!

13. నీ విస్తారమైన యోచనలవలన నీవు అలసియున్నావు జ్యోతిష్కులు నక్షత్రసూచకులు మాసచర్య చెప్పు వారు నిలువబడి నీమీదికి వచ్చునవి రాకుండ నిన్ను తప్పించి రక్షించుదురేమో ఆలోచించుము.

13. You have had many tiring consultations: let the astrologers come forward now and save you, the star-gazers who announce month by month what will happen to you next.

14. వారు కొయ్యకాలువలెనైరి అగ్ని వారిని కాల్చివేయుచున్నది జ్వాలయొక్క బలమునుండి తమ్ముతాము తప్పించుకొన లేక యున్నారు అది కాచుకొనుటకు నిప్పుకాదు ఎదుట కూర్చుండి కాచుకొనదగినది కాదు.

14. Look, they are like wisps of straw, the fire will burn them up. They will not save their lives from the power of the flame. No embers these, for keeping warm, no fire to sit beside!

15. నీవు ఎవరికొరకు ప్రయాసపడి అలసితివో వారికి ఆలాగే జరుగుచున్నది నీ బాల్యము మొదలుకొని నీతో వ్యాపారము చేయు వారు తమ తమ చోట్లకు వెళ్లిపోవుచున్నారు నిన్ను రక్షించువాడొకడైన నుండడు.

15. Such will your wizards prove to be for you, for whom you have worked so hard since you were young; each wandering his own way, none of them can save you.
