1. కన్యకయైన బబులోనూ, క్రిందికి దిగి మంటిలో కూర్చుండుము కల్దీయుల కుమారీ, సింహాసనము లేకయే నేలమీద కూర్చుండుము నీవు మృదువువనియైనను సుకుమారివనియైనను జనులు ఇకమీదట చెప్పరు.

1. But as for thee (O daughter, thou virgin Babylon) thou shalt sit in the dust. Thou shalt sit upon the ground, and not in a throne, (O thou maiden of Chaldea) Thou shalt no more be called tender and pleasant.

2. తిరుగటిదిమ్మలు తీసికొని పిండి విసరుము నీ ముసుకు పారవేయుము కాలిమీద జీరాడు వస్త్రము తీసివేయుము కాలిమీది బట్ట తీసి నదులు దాటుము.

2. Thou shalt bring forth the quern and grind meal, put down thy stomacher make bare thy knees, and shalt wade thorow the water rivers.

3. నీ కోకయు తీసివేయబడును నీకు కలిగిన యవమానము వెల్లడియగును నేను ప్రతిదండన చేయుచు నరులను మన్నింపను.

3. Thy shame shall be discovered, and thy previties shall be seen. For I will avenge me of thee, and no man shall let me:

4. సైన్యములకధిపతియు ఇశ్రాయేలుయొక్క పరిశుద్ధ దేవుడునగు యెహోవా అని మా విమోచకునికి పేరు.

4. sayeth our redeemer, which is called the LORD of Hosts, the holy one of Israel.

5. కల్దీయుల కుమారీ, మౌనముగా నుండి చీకటిలోనికి పొమ్ము రాజ్యములకు దొరసానియని యికమీదట జనులు నిన్నుగూర్చి చెప్పరు.

5. Sit still, hold thy tongue, and get thee into some dark corner, O daughter Chaldea, for thou shalt no more be called lady of kingdoms.

6. నా జనులమీద కోపపడి నా స్వాస్థ్యము నపవిత్ర పరచి వారిని నీ చేతికి అప్పగించితిని నీవు వారియందు కనికరపడక వృద్దులమీద నీ కాడి మ్రానును మిక్కిలి బరువుగా మోపితివి.

6. I was so wroth with my people, that I punished mine inheritance, and gave them into thy power. Nevertheless, thou shewdest them no mercy, but even the very aged men of them, didst thou oppress right sore with thy yoke,

7. నేను సర్వదా దొరసానినై యుందునని నీవనుకొని వీటిని ఆలోచింపకపోతివి వాటి ఫలమేమవునో మనస్సునకు తెచ్చుకొనకపోతివి.

7. and thou thoughtest thus. I shall be lady for ever. And beside all that, thou hast not regarded these things, neither cast, what should come after.

8. కాబట్టి సుఖాసక్తురాలవై నిర్భయముగా నివసించుచు నేనే ఉన్నాను నేను తప్ప మరి ఎవరును లేరు నేను విధవరాలనై కూర్చుండను పుత్రశోకము నేను చూడనని అనుకొనుచున్నదానా, ఈ మాటను వినుము

8. Hear now therefore, thou willful, that sittest so careless, and speakest thus in thine heart: I am alone, and without me is there none: I shall never be widow, nor desolate again.

9. ఒక్క దినములోగా ఒక్క నిమిషముననే పుత్ర శోకమును వైధవ్యమును ఈ రెండును నీకు సంభ వించును. నీవు అధికముగా శకునము చూచినను అత్యధికమైన కర్ణపిశాచ తంత్రములను నీవు ఆధారముగా చేసికొనినను ఆ యపాయములు నీమీదికి సంపూర్తిగా వచ్చును.

9. And yet both these things shall come to thee upon one day in the twinkling of an eye: Namely widowhood, and desolation. They shall mightily fall upon thee, for the multitude of thy witches, and for the great heap of thy conjurers.

10. నీ చెడుతనమును నీవు ఆధారము చేసికొని యెవడును నన్ను చూడడని అనుకొంటివి నేనున్నాను నేను తప్ప మరి ఎవరును లేరని నీవను కొనునట్లుగా నీ విద్యయు నీ జ్ఞానమును నిన్ను చెరిపివేసెను.

10. For thou hast comforted thyself in thy deceitfulness, and hast said: No man seeth me. Thine own wisdom and cunning hath deceived thee. In that thou hast said: I am alone, and without me there is none.

11. కీడు నీమీదికివచ్చును నీవు మంత్రించి దాని పోగొట్ట జాలవు ఆ కీడు నీమీద పడును దానిని నీవు నివారించలేవు నీకు తెలియని నాశనము నీమీదికి ఆకస్మికముగా వచ్చును.

11. Therefore shall trouble come upon thee, and thou shalt not know, from whence it shall arise. Mischief shalt fall upon thee, which thou shalt not be able to put off. A sudden(sodane) misery shall come upon thee, or ever thou be aware.(awarre)

12. నీ బాల్యమునుండి నీవు ప్రయాసపడి అభ్యసించిన నీ కర్ణపిశాచ తంత్రములను నీ విస్తారమైన శకునములను చూపుటకు నిలువుము ఒకవేళ అవి నీకు ప్రయోజనములగునేమో ఒకవేళ నీవు మనుష్యులను బెదరింతువేమో

12. Now go to thy conjurers, and to the multitude of thy witches (whom thou hast been acquainted withal from thy youth) if they may help thee, or strengthen thee.

13. నీ విస్తారమైన యోచనలవలన నీవు అలసియున్నావు జ్యోతిష్కులు నక్షత్రసూచకులు మాసచర్య చెప్పు వారు నిలువబడి నీమీదికి వచ్చునవి రాకుండ నిన్ను తప్పించి రక్షించుదురేమో ఆలోచించుము.

13. Thou hast hither to had many counsels of them, so let the heaven gazers and the beholders of stars come on now and deliver thee: yea and let them shew, when these new things shall come upon thee.

14. వారు కొయ్యకాలువలెనైరి అగ్ని వారిని కాల్చివేయుచున్నది జ్వాలయొక్క బలమునుండి తమ్ముతాము తప్పించుకొన లేక యున్నారు అది కాచుకొనుటకు నిప్పుకాదు ఎదుట కూర్చుండి కాచుకొనదగినది కాదు.

14. Behold, they shall be like straw, which if it be kindled with fire, no man may rid it for the vehemence of the flame: And yet it giveth no cinders to warm a man by, nor clear fire to sit by.

15. నీవు ఎవరికొరకు ప్రయాసపడి అలసితివో వారికి ఆలాగే జరుగుచున్నది నీ బాల్యము మొదలుకొని నీతో వ్యాపారము చేయు వారు తమ తమ చోట్లకు వెళ్లిపోవుచున్నారు నిన్ను రక్షించువాడొకడైన నుండడు.

15. Even so shall they be unto thee whom thou hast used and occupied from thy youth. Every one shall shew thee his erroneous way, yet shall none of them defend thee.
