1. దాదాపు అదే కాలమందు రాజైన హేరోదు సంఘపువారిలో కొందరిని బాధపెట్టుటకు బలాత్కారముగా పట్టుకొని

1. And at that time Herod the king put forth the hands to oppress some of those of the assembly.

2. యోహాను సహోదరుడైన యాకోబును ఖడ్గముతో చంపించెను.

2. And with a sword he did away with James the brother of John.

3. ఇది యూదులకు ఇష్టమైన కార్యమని తెలిసికొని పేతురునుకూడ పట్టుకొనెను. ఆ దినములు పులియని రొట్టెల పండుగ దినములు.

3. And seeing that it was pleasing to the Jews, he added also to seize Peter, (and they were the days of Unleavened Bread )

4. అతనిని పట్టుకొని చెరసాలలో వేయించి, పస్కా పండుగైన పిమ్మట ప్రజలయొద్దకు అతని తేవలెనని ఉద్దేశించి, అతనికి కావలియుండుటకు నాలుగు చతుష్టయముల సైని కులకు అతనిని అప్పగించెను.

4. whom also capturing him, he put him into prison, delivering him to four sets of four soldiers to guard him, intending to bring him up to the people after the Passover.

5. పేతురు చెరసాలలో ఉంచ బడెను, సంఘమయితే అతనికొరకు అత్యాసక్తితో దేవునికి ప్రార్థనచేయుచుండెను.

5. Then Peter was indeed kept in the prison, but fervent prayer was made by the assembly to God on his behalf.

6. హేరోదు అతనిని వెలుపలికి తీసికొని రావలెననియుండగా, ఆ రాత్రియే పేతురు రెండు సంకెళ్లతో బంధింపబడి యిద్దరు సైనికుల మధ్య నిద్రించు చుండెను; మరియు కావలివారు తలుపు ఎదుట చెరసాల కాచుకొనుచుండిరి.

6. But when Herod was about to bring him out, in that night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, being bound with two chains, also guards were keeping the prison before the door.

7. ఇదిగో ప్రభువు దూత అతనిదగ్గర నిలిచెను; అతడుండిన గదిలో వెలుగు ప్రకాశించెను. దూత పేతురు ప్రక్కను తట్టిత్వరగా లెమ్మని చెప్పి అతని లేపగా సంకెళ్లు అతని చేతులనుండి ఊడిపడెను.

7. And, behold! An angel of the Lord stood by, and a light shone in the building. And striking Peter's side, he raised him up, saying, Rise up in haste! And the chains fell off from his hands.

8. అప్పుడు దూత అతనితో నీవు నడుము కట్టుకొని చెప్పులు తొడుగుకొనుమనెను. అతడాలాగు చేసిన తరువాత దూత నీ వస్త్రము పైన వేసికొని నా వెంబడి రమ్మని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

8. And the angel said to him, Gird yourself, and bind on your sandals. And he did so. And he said to him, Throw around your garment and follow me.

9. అతడు వెలుపలికి వచ్చి దూత వెంబడి వెళ్లి, దూతవలన జరిగినది నిజముగా జరిగెనని గ్రహింపక, తనకు దర్శనము కలిగెనని తలంచెను.

9. And going out, he followed him, and did not know that this happening through the angel was real, but he thought he saw a vision.

10. మొదటి కావలిని రెండవ కావలిని దాటి పట్టణమునకు పోవు ఇనుప గవినియొద్దకు వచ్చినప్పుడు దానంతట అదే వారికి తెరచుకొనెను. వారు బయలుదేరి యొక వీధి దాటినవెంటనే దూత అతనిని విడిచిపోయెను.

10. And going through a first and a second guard, they came on the iron gate leading into the city, which opened to them of itself. And going out, they went on one street; and instantly the angel withdrew from him.

11. పేతురుకు తెలివివచ్చి ప్రభువు తన దూతను పంపి హేరోదు చేతిలోనుండియు, యూదులను ప్రజలు నాకు చేయ నుద్దేశించిన వాటన్నిటినుండియు నన్ను తప్పించి యున్నాడని యిప్పుడు నాకు నిజముగా తెలియునని అనుకొనెను.

11. And having come, Peter said within himself, Now I know truly that the Lord sent out His angel and plucked me out of Herod's hand, and out of all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

12. ఇట్లు ఆలోచించుకొని అతడు మార్కు అను మారు పేరుగల యోహాను తల్లియైన మరియ యింటికి వచ్చెను; అక్కడ అనే కులుకూడి ప్రార్థనచేయుచుండిరి.

12. And considering, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, the one being surnamed Mark, where many were gathered together, and praying.

13. అతడు తలవాకిటి తలుపు తట్టుచుండగా, రొదే అను ఒక చిన్నది ఆలకించుటకు వచ్చెను.

13. And Peter was knocking at the door of the porch, and a servant girl named Rhoda came near to listen.

14. ఆమె పేతురు స్వరము గుర్తుపట్టి, సంతోషముచేత తలుపుతీయక లోపలికి పరుగెతికొని పోయిపేతురు తలుపు దగ్గర నిలుచున్నాడని తెలిపెను.

14. And recognizing Peter's voice, from joy she did not open the porch, but running in she reported Peter was standing before the porch.

15. అందుకు వారునీవు పిచ్చిదానవనిరి; అయితే తాను చెప్పినదే నిజమని ఆమె దృఢముగా చెప్పినప్పుడు వారు అతని దూత అనిరి.

15. But they said to her, You are raving. But she insisted, holding it to be so. And they said, It is his angel.

16. పేతురు ఇంకను తట్టుచున్నందున వారు తలుపు తీసి అతనిని చూచి విభ్రాంతి నొందిరి.

16. But Peter kept on knocking. And opening, they saw him and were amazed.

17. అతడు ఊరకుండుడని వారికి చేసైగచేసి, ప్రభువు తన్ను చెరసాలలోనుండి యేలాగు తీసికొనివచ్చెనో వారికి వివరించి యాకోబుకును సహోదరులకును ఈ సంగతులు తెలియజేయుడని చెప్పి బయలుదేరి వేరొక చోటికి వెళ్ళెను.

17. And signaling to them with the hand to be silent, he told them how the Lord led him out of the prison. And he said, Report these things to James and the brothers. And going out, he went to another place.

18. తెల్లవారగనే పేతురు ఏమాయెనో అని సైనికులలో కలిగిన గలిబిలి యింతంతకాదు.

18. And day having come, there was not a little disturbance among the soldiers, saying, What, then, became of Peter?

19. హేరోదు అతనికోసరము వెదకినప్పుడు అతడు కనబడనందున కావలి వారిని విమర్శించి వారిని చంప నాజ్ఞాపించెను. అటు తరువాత హేరోదు యూదయ నుండి కైసరయకు వెళ్లి అక్కడ నివసించెను.

19. And searching for him, and not finding him, examining the guards, Herod commanded them to be led away. And going down from Judea to Caesarea, he stayed.

20. తూరీయులమీదను సీదోనీయులమీదను అతనికి అత్యా గ్రహము కలిగినందున వారేకమనస్సుతో రాజునొద్దకు వచ్చి అంతఃపురమునకు పైవిచారణకర్తయగు బ్లాస్తును తమ పక్షముగా చేసికొని సమాధాన పడవలెనని వేడుకొనిరి; ఎందుకనగా రాజుయొక్క దేశమునుండి వారి దేశమునకు గ్రాసము వచ్చుచుండెను.

20. And Herod was in bitter hostility with the Tyrians and Sidonians. But with one passion they came to him. And persuading Blastus, the one over the king's bedroom, they begged peace, because their country was fed from the royal bounty.

21. నియమింపబడిన దినమందు హేరోదు రాజవస్త్రములు ధరించుకొని న్యాయపీఠము మీద కూర్చుండి వారి యెదుట ఉపన్యాసముచేయగా

21. And on a set day, having been clothed in a regal garment, and sitting on the tribunal, Herod made a speech to them.

22. జనులుఇది దైవస్వరమేకాని మానవస్వరముకాదని కేకలు వేసిరి.

22. And the mass of people cried out, The voice of a god, and not of a man!

23. అతడు దేవుని మహిమపరచనందున వెంటనే ప్రభువు దూత అతని మొత్తెను గనుక పురుగులు పడి ప్రాణము విడిచెను.

23. And instantly an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give the glory to God. And having been eaten by worms, his soul went out.

24. దేవుని వాక్యము ప్రబలమై వ్యాపించుచుండెను.

24. But the Word of God grew and increased.

25. బర్నబాయు సౌలును తమ పరిచర్య నెరవేర్చిన తరువాత మార్కు అను మారు పేరుగల యోహానును వెంటబెట్టుకొని యెరూషలేమునుండి తిరిగి వచ్చిరి.

25. And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, having fulfilled the service, and having taken with them the one surnamed Mark.
