1. రాజైన హేరోదు దినములయందు యూదయ దేశపు బేత్లెహేములో యేసు పుట్టిన పిమ్మట ఇదిగో తూర్పు దేశపు జ్ఞానులు యెరూషలేమునకు వచ్చి

1. Lo, I am sending my messenger to prepare the way before me; And suddenly there will come to the temple the LORD whom you seek, And the messenger of the covenant whom you desire. Yes, he is coming, says the LORD of hosts.

2. యూదుల రాజుగా పుట్టినవాడెక్కడ నున్నాడు? తూర్పుదిక్కున మేము ఆయన నక్షత్రము చూచి, ఆయనను పూజింప వచ్చితిమని చెప్పిరి

2. But who will endure the day of his coming? And who can stand when he appears? For he is like the refiner's fire, or like the fuller's lye.

3. హేరోదురాజు ఈ సంగతి విన్నప్పుడు అతడును అతనితో కూడ యెరూషలేము వారందరును కలవరపడిరి.

3. He will sit refining and purifying (silver), and he will purify the sons of Levi, Refining them like gold or like silver that they may offer due sacrifice to the LORD.

4. కాబట్టి రాజు ప్రధాన యాజకులను ప్రజలలోనుండు శాస్త్రులను అందరిని సమకూర్చిక్రీస్తు ఎక్కడ పుట్టునని వారినడిగెను.

4. Then the sacrifice of Judah and Jerusalem will please the LORD, as in days of old, as in years gone by.

5. అందుకు వారు యూదయ బేత్లెహేములోనే; ఏలయనగా యూదయదేశపు బేత్లెహేమా నీవు యూదా ప్రధానులలో ఎంతమాత్రమును అల్పమైనదానవు కావు;ఇశ్రాయేలను నా ప్రజలను పరిపాలించు అధిపతి నీలోనుండి వచ్చును అని ప్రవక్తద్వారా వ్రాయబడియున్నదనిరి.

5. I will draw near to you for judgment, and I will be swift to bear witness Against the sorcerers, adulterers, and perjurers, those who defraud the hired man of his wages, Against those who defraud widows and orphans; those who turn aside the stranger, and those who do not fear me, says the LORD of hosts.

6. అంతట హేరోదు ఆ జ్ఞానులను రహస్యముగా పిలిపించి,

6. Surely I, the LORD, do not change, nor do you cease to be sons of Jacob.

7. Since the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my statutes, and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts. Yet you say, "How must we return?"

8. మీరు వెళ్లి, ఆ శిశువు విషయమై జాగ్రత్తగా విచారించి తెలిసికొనగానే, నేనును వచ్చి,ఆయనను పూజించునట్లు నాకు వర్తమానము తెండని చెప్పి వారిని బేత్లెహేమునకు పంపెను.

8. Dare a man rob God? Yet you are robbing me! And you say, "How do we rob you?" In tithes and in offerings!

9. వారు రాజు మాట విని బయలుదేరి పోవుచుండగా, ఇదిగో తూర్పుదేశమున వారు చూచిన నక్షత్రము ఆ శిశువు ఉండిన చోటికి మీదుగా వచ్చి నిలుచువరకు వారికి ముందుగా నడిచెను.

9. You are indeed accursed, for you, the whole nation, rob me.

10. వారు ఆ నక్షత్రమును చూచి, అత్యానందభరితులై యింటిలోనికి వచ్చి,

10. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, That there may be food in my house, and try me in this, says the LORD of hosts: Shall I not open for you the floodgates of heaven, to pour down blessing upon you without measure?

11. తల్లియైన మరియను ఆ శిశువును చూచి, సాగిలపడి, ఆయనను పూజించి, తమ పెట్టెలు విప్పి, బంగారమును సాంబ్రాణిని బోళమును కానుకలుగా ఆయనకు సమర్పించిరి.

11. For your sake I will forbid the locust to destroy your crops; And the vine in the field will not be barren, says the LORD of hosts.

12. తరువాత హేరోదునొద్దకు వెళ్లవద్దని స్వప్నమందు దేవునిచేత బోధింపబడినవారై వారు మరియొక మార్గమున తమ దేశమునకు తిరిగి వెళ్లిరి.

12. Then all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land, says the LORD of hosts.

13. వారు వెళ్ళిన తరువాత ఇదిగో ప్రభువు దూత స్వప్న మందు యోసేపునకు ప్రత్యక్షమై హేరోదు ఆ శిశువును సంహరింపవలెనని ఆయనను వెదకబోవుచున్నాడు గనుక నీవు లేచి ఆ శిశువును ఆయన తల్లిని వెంటబెట్టుకొని ఐగుప్తునకు పారిపోయి, నేను నీతో తెలియజెప్పువరకు అక్కడనే యుండుమని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

13. You have defied me in word, says the LORD, yet you ask, "What have we spoken against you?"

14. అప్పుడతడు లేచి, రాత్రివేళ శిశువును తల్లిని తోడుకొని,

14. You have said, "It is vain to serve God, and what do we profit by keeping his command, And going about in penitential dress in awe of the LORD of hosts?

15. ఐగుప్తునకు వెళ్లి ఐగుప్తులోనుండి నా కుమారుని పిలిచితిని అని ప్రవక్తద్వారా ప్రభువు సెలవిచ్చిన మాట నెరవేర్చ బడునట్లు హేరోదు మరణమువరకు అక్కడనుండెను.

15. Rather must we call the proud blessed; for indeed evildoers prosper, and even tempt God with impunity."

16. ఆ జ్ఞానులు తన్ను అపహసించిరని హేరోదు గ్రహించి బహు ఆగ్రహము తెచ్చుకొని, తాను జ్ఞానులవలన వివర ముగా తెలిసికొనిన కాలమునుబట్టి, బేత్లెహేములోను దాని సకల ప్రాంతములలోను, రెండు సంవత్సరములు మొదలుకొని తక్కువ వయస్సుగల మగపిల్లల నందరిని వధించెను.

16. Then they who fear the LORD spoke with one another, and the LORD listened attentively; And a record book was written before him of those who fear the LORD and trust in his name.

17. అందువలన రామాలో అంగలార్పు వినబడెను ఏడ్పును మహారోదనధ్వనియు కలిగెను

17. And they shall be mine, says the LORD of hosts, my own special possession, on the day I take action. And I will have compassion on them, as a man has compassion on his son who serves him.

18. రాహేలు తన పిల్లలవిషయమై యేడ్చుచు వారు లేనందున ఓదార్పు పొందనొల్లక యుండెను అని ప్రవక్తయైన యిర్మీయాద్వారా చెప్పబడిన వాక్యము నెరవేరెను.

18. Then you will again see the distinction between the just and the wicked; Between him who serves God, and him who does not serve him.

19. హేరోదు చనిపోయిన తరువాత ఇదిగో ప్రభువు దూత ఐగుప్తులో యోసేపునకు స్వప్నమందు ప్రత్యక్షమై

19. For lo, the day is coming, blazing like an oven, when all the proud and all evildoers will be stubble, And the day that is coming will set them on fire, leaving them neither root nor branch, says the LORD of hosts.

20. నీవు లేచి, శిశువును తల్లిని తోడుకొని, ఇశ్రాయేలు దేశమునకు వెళ్లుము;
నిర్గమకాండము 4:19

20. But for you who fear my name, there will arise the sun of justice with its healing rays; And you will gambol like calves out of the stall

21. శిశువు ప్రాణము తీయజూచు చుండినవారు చనిపోయిరని చెప్పెను. అప్పుడతడు లేచి, శిశువును తల్లిని తోడుకొని ఇశ్రాయేలు దేశమునకు వచ్చెను.

21. and tread down the wicked; They will become ashes under the soles of your feet, on the day I take action, says the LORD of hosts.

22. అయితే అర్కెలాయు తన తండ్రియైన హేరోదునకు ప్రతిగా యూదయదేశము

22. Remember the law of Moses my servant, which I enjoined him on Horeb, The statutes and ordinances for all Israel.

23. ఏలుచున్నాడని విని, అక్కడికి వెళ్ల వెరచి, స్వప్నమందు దేవునిచేత బోధింపబడినవాడై గలిలయ ప్రాంతములకు వెళ్లి, నజరేతను ఊరికి వచ్చి అక్కడ కాపురముండెను. ఆయన నజరేయుడనబడునని ప్రవక్తలు చెప్పినమాట నెరవేరునట్లు (ఈలాగు జరిగెను.)
