1. రాజైన హేరోదు దినములయందు యూదయ దేశపు బేత్లెహేములో యేసు పుట్టిన పిమ్మట ఇదిగో తూర్పు దేశపు జ్ఞానులు యెరూషలేమునకు వచ్చి

1. When Jesus then was borne at Bethleem in Iudea, in the dayes of Herod the King, beholde, there came Wisemen from the East to Hierusalem,

2. యూదుల రాజుగా పుట్టినవాడెక్కడ నున్నాడు? తూర్పుదిక్కున మేము ఆయన నక్షత్రము చూచి, ఆయనను పూజింప వచ్చితిమని చెప్పిరి

2. Saying, Where is that King of the Iewes that is borne? for wee haue seene his starre in the East, and are come to worship him.

3. హేరోదురాజు ఈ సంగతి విన్నప్పుడు అతడును అతనితో కూడ యెరూషలేము వారందరును కలవరపడిరి.

3. When King Herod heard this, he was troubled, and all Hierusalem with him.

4. కాబట్టి రాజు ప్రధాన యాజకులను ప్రజలలోనుండు శాస్త్రులను అందరిని సమకూర్చిక్రీస్తు ఎక్కడ పుట్టునని వారినడిగెను.

4. And gathering together all the chiefe Priestes and Scribes of the people, hee asked of them, where Christ should be borne.

5. అందుకు వారు యూదయ బేత్లెహేములోనే; ఏలయనగా యూదయదేశపు బేత్లెహేమా నీవు యూదా ప్రధానులలో ఎంతమాత్రమును అల్పమైనదానవు కావు;ఇశ్రాయేలను నా ప్రజలను పరిపాలించు అధిపతి నీలోనుండి వచ్చును అని ప్రవక్తద్వారా వ్రాయబడియున్నదనిరి.

5. And they saide vnto him, At Beth-leem in Iudea: for so it is written by the Prophet,

6. అంతట హేరోదు ఆ జ్ఞానులను రహస్యముగా పిలిపించి,

6. And thou Beth-leem in the lande of Iuda, art not the least among the Princes of Iuda: For out of thee shall come the gouernour that shall feede that my people Israel.

7. ఆ నక్షత్రము కనబడిన కాలము వారిచేత పరిష్కారముగా తెలిసికొని

7. Then Herod priuily called the Wisemen, and diligently inquired of them the time of the starre that appeared,

8. మీరు వెళ్లి, ఆ శిశువు విషయమై జాగ్రత్తగా విచారించి తెలిసికొనగానే, నేనును వచ్చి,ఆయనను పూజించునట్లు నాకు వర్తమానము తెండని చెప్పి వారిని బేత్లెహేమునకు పంపెను.

8. And sent them to Beth-leem, saying, Goe, and searche diligently for the babe: and when ye haue founde him, bring mee worde againe, that I may come also, and worship him.

9. వారు రాజు మాట విని బయలుదేరి పోవుచుండగా, ఇదిగో తూర్పుదేశమున వారు చూచిన నక్షత్రము ఆ శిశువు ఉండిన చోటికి మీదుగా వచ్చి నిలుచువరకు వారికి ముందుగా నడిచెను.

9. So when they had heard the King, they departed: and loe, the starre which they had seene in the East, went before them, till it came and stoode ouer the place where the babe was.

10. వారు ఆ నక్షత్రమును చూచి, అత్యానందభరితులై యింటిలోనికి వచ్చి,

10. And when they sawe the starre, they reioyced with an exceeding great ioy,

11. తల్లియైన మరియను ఆ శిశువును చూచి, సాగిలపడి, ఆయనను పూజించి, తమ పెట్టెలు విప్పి, బంగారమును సాంబ్రాణిని బోళమును కానుకలుగా ఆయనకు సమర్పించిరి.

11. And went into the house, and founde the babe with Mary his mother, and fell downe, and worshipped him, and opened their treasures, and presented vnto him giftes, euen golde, and frankincense, and myrrhe.

12. తరువాత హేరోదునొద్దకు వెళ్లవద్దని స్వప్నమందు దేవునిచేత బోధింపబడినవారై వారు మరియొక మార్గమున తమ దేశమునకు తిరిగి వెళ్లిరి.

12. And after they were warned of God in a dreame, that they should not go againe to Herod, they returned into their countrey another way.

13. వారు వెళ్ళిన తరువాత ఇదిగో ప్రభువు దూత స్వప్న మందు యోసేపునకు ప్రత్యక్షమై హేరోదు ఆ శిశువును సంహరింపవలెనని ఆయనను వెదకబోవుచున్నాడు గనుక నీవు లేచి ఆ శిశువును ఆయన తల్లిని వెంటబెట్టుకొని ఐగుప్తునకు పారిపోయి, నేను నీతో తెలియజెప్పువరకు అక్కడనే యుండుమని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

13. After their departure, behold, the Angel of the Lord appeareth to Ioseph in a dreame, saying, Arise, and take the babe and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be there til I bring thee word: for Herod will seeke the babe, to destroy him.

14. అప్పుడతడు లేచి, రాత్రివేళ శిశువును తల్లిని తోడుకొని,

14. So he arose and tooke the babe and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt,

15. ఐగుప్తునకు వెళ్లి ఐగుప్తులోనుండి నా కుమారుని పిలిచితిని అని ప్రవక్తద్వారా ప్రభువు సెలవిచ్చిన మాట నెరవేర్చ బడునట్లు హేరోదు మరణమువరకు అక్కడనుండెను.

15. And was there vnto the death of Herod, that that might be fulfilled, which is spoken of the Lord by the Prophet, saying, Out of Egypt haue I called my sonne.

16. ఆ జ్ఞానులు తన్ను అపహసించిరని హేరోదు గ్రహించి బహు ఆగ్రహము తెచ్చుకొని, తాను జ్ఞానులవలన వివర ముగా తెలిసికొనిన కాలమునుబట్టి, బేత్లెహేములోను దాని సకల ప్రాంతములలోను, రెండు సంవత్సరములు మొదలుకొని తక్కువ వయస్సుగల మగపిల్లల నందరిని వధించెను.

16. Then Herod, seeing that he was mocked of the Wisemen, was exceeding wroth, and sent foorth, and slew all the male children that were in Beth-leem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two yeere old and vnder, according to the time which he had diligently searched out of the Wisemen.

17. అందువలన రామాలో అంగలార్పు వినబడెను ఏడ్పును మహారోదనధ్వనియు కలిగెను

17. Then was that fulfilled which is spoken by the Prophet Ieremias, saying,

18. రాహేలు తన పిల్లలవిషయమై యేడ్చుచు వారు లేనందున ఓదార్పు పొందనొల్లక యుండెను అని ప్రవక్తయైన యిర్మీయాద్వారా చెప్పబడిన వాక్యము నెరవేరెను.

18. In Rhama was a voyce heard, mourning, and weeping, and great howling: Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they were not.

19. హేరోదు చనిపోయిన తరువాత ఇదిగో ప్రభువు దూత ఐగుప్తులో యోసేపునకు స్వప్నమందు ప్రత్యక్షమై

19. And whe Herod was dead, behold, an Angel of the Lord appeareth in a dreame to Ioseph in Egypt,

20. నీవు లేచి, శిశువును తల్లిని తోడుకొని, ఇశ్రాయేలు దేశమునకు వెళ్లుము;

20. Saying, Arise, and take the babe and his mother, and goe into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the babes life.

21. శిశువు ప్రాణము తీయజూచు చుండినవారు చనిపోయిరని చెప్పెను. అప్పుడతడు లేచి, శిశువును తల్లిని తోడుకొని ఇశ్రాయేలు దేశమునకు వచ్చెను.

21. Then he arose vp and tooke the babe and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.

22. అయితే అర్కెలాయు తన తండ్రియైన హేరోదునకు ప్రతిగా యూదయదేశము

22. But whe he heard that Archelaus did reigne in Iudea in stead of his father Herod, he was afraide to go thither: yet after he was warned of God in a dreame, he turned aside into the parts of Galile,

23. ఏలుచున్నాడని విని, అక్కడికి వెళ్ల వెరచి, స్వప్నమందు దేవునిచేత బోధింపబడినవాడై గలిలయ ప్రాంతములకు వెళ్లి, నజరేతను ఊరికి వచ్చి అక్కడ కాపురముండెను. ఆయన నజరేయుడనబడునని ప్రవక్తలు చెప్పినమాట నెరవేరునట్లు (ఈలాగు జరిగెను.)

23. And went and dwelt in a citie called Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Prophets, which was, That hee should be called a Nazarite.
