1. రెహబాము యెరూషలేమునకు వచ్చినప్పుడు ఇశ్రా యేలువారితో యుద్ధము చేయుటకును, రాజ్యమును తనకు మరల రప్పించుకొనుటకును అతడు యూదావారిలో నుండియు బెన్యామీనీయులలోనుండియు ఏర్పరచబడిన యుద్ధ శాలులను లక్ష యెనుబది వేలమందిని సమకూర్చగా

1. When King Rehoboam arrived in Jerusalem, he called together 180,000 of the best soldiers from the tribes of Benjamin and Judah. He intended to go to war and restore his control over the northern tribes of Israel.

2. దైవజనుడైన షెమయాకు యెహోవా వాక్కు ప్రత్యక్షమై యీలాగు సెలవిచ్చెను

2. But the LORD told the prophet Shemaiah

3. నీవు యూదారాజును సొలొమోను కుమారుడునగు రెహబాముతోను, యూదా యందును బెన్యామీనీయుల ప్రదేశమందును ఉండు ఇశ్రాయేలు వారందరితోను ఈ మాట ప్రకటించుము

3. to give this message to King Rehoboam and to all the people of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin:

4. ఈ కార్యము నావలన జరుగుచున్నదని యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడు గనుక, బయలుదేరకుండను మీ సహో దరులతో యుద్ధము చేయకుండను మీరందరును మీ మీ యిండ్లకు తిరిగి పోవుడి అని చెప్పెను. కావున వారు యెహోవా మాటలు విని యరొబాముతో యుద్ధము చేయుట మాని వెళ్లిపోయిరి.

4. 'Do not attack your own relatives. Go home, all of you. What has happened is my will.' They obeyed the LORD's command and did not go to fight Jeroboam.

5. రెహబాము యెరూషలేమునందు కాపురముండి యూదా ప్రదేశమందు ప్రాకారపురములను కట్టించెను.

5. Rehoboam remained in Jerusalem and had fortifications built for the following cities of Judah and Benjamin:

6. అతడు బేత్లెహేము, ఏతాము, తెకోవ, బేత్సూరు,

6. Bethlehem, Etam, Tekoa,

7. శోకో, అదుల్లాము, గాతు,

7. Bethzur, Soco, Adullam,

8. మారేషా, జీపు, అదోర యీము,

8. Gath, Mareshah, Ziph,

9. లాకీషు, అజేకా,

9. Adoraim, Lachish, Azekah,

10. జొర్యా, అయ్యాలోను, హెబ్రోను అను యూదా బెన్యామీను ప్రదేశము లందుండు ప్రాకారపురములను కట్టించి

10. Zorah, Aijalon, and Hebron.

11. దుర్గములను బల పరచి, వాటిలో అధిపతులను ఉంచి, ఆహారమును నూనెను ద్రాక్షారసమును సమకూర్చెను.

11. He had them strongly fortified and appointed a commander for each of them, and in each one he placed supplies of food, olive oil, and wine,

12. మరియు వాటిలో డాళ్లను బల్లెములను ఉంచి ఆ పట్టణములను బహు బలవంత మైన వాటిగా చేసెను. యూదావారును బెన్యామీనీయులును అతని పక్షముననుండిరి.

12. and also shields and spears. In this way he kept Judah and Benjamin under his control.

13. ఇశ్రాయేలువారి మధ్యనుండు యాజకులును లేవీ యులును తామున్న ప్రదేశముల సరిహద్దులను దాటి అతని యొద్దకు వచ్చి చేరిరి.

13. From all the territory of Israel priests and Levites came south to Judah.

14. యరొబామును అతని కుమారులును యెహోవాకు యాజకసేవ జరుగకుండ లేవీయులను త్రోసి వేయగా, వారు తమ గ్రామములను స్వాస్థ్యములను విడచి, యూదా దేశమునకును యెరూషలేమునకును వచ్చిరి.

14. The Levites abandoned their pastures and other land and moved to Judah and Jerusalem, because King Jeroboam of Israel and his successors would not let them serve as priests of the LORD.

15. యరొబాము బలిపీఠములకును దయ్యములకును తాను చేయించిన దూడలకును యాజకులను ఏర్పరచుకొనెను.

15. Jeroboam appointed priests of his own to serve at the pagan places of worship and to worship demons and the idols he made in the form of bull-calves.

16. వారి చర్యలట్లుండగా ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల గోత్రములయం దంతటను ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాను వెదకుటకు మనస్సు నిలుపుకొనినవారు తమ పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాకు బలుల నర్పించుటకై యెరూషలేమునకు వచ్చిరి.

16. From all the tribes of Israel people who sincerely wanted to worship the LORD, the God of Israel, followed the Levites to Jerusalem, so that they could offer sacrifices to the LORD, the God of their ancestors.

17. దావీదును సొలొమోనును నడచిన మార్గమందు మూడు సంవత్సరములు వారు నడచి, యూదా రాజ్యమును బలపరచి మూడు సంవత్సరములు సొలొమోను కుమారుడైన రెహబామునకు సహాయకులైరి.

17. This strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and for three years they supported Rehoboam son of Solomon and lived as they had under the rule of King David and King Solomon.

18. రెహబాము, దావీదు కుమారుడైన యెరీమోతు కుమార్తె యగు మహలతును యెష్షయి కుమారుడైన ఏలీయాబు కుమార్తెయగు అబీహాయిలును వివాహము చేసికొనెమ.

18. Rehoboam married Mahalath, whose father was Jerimoth son of David and whose mother was Abihail, the daughter of Eliab and granddaughter of Jesse.

19. అతనికి యూషు షెమర్యా జహము అను కుమారులు కలిగిరి.

19. They had three sons, Jeush, Shemariah, and Zaham.

20. పిమ్మట అతడు అబ్షాలోము కుమార్తెయైన మయ కాను వివాహము చేసికొనగా ఆమె అతనికి అబీయాను అత్తయిని జీజాను షెలోమీతును కనెను.

20. Later he married Maacah, the daughter of Absalom, and they had four sons: Abijah, Attai, Ziza, and Shelomith.

21. రెహబాము పదునెనిమిదిమంది భార్యలను పెండ్లిచేసికొని అరువదిమంది ఉపపత్నులను తెచ్చుకొని యిరువది యెనిమిదిమంది కుమా రులను అరువదిమంది కుమార్తెలను కనెను; అయితే తన భార్యలందరికంటెను ఉపపత్ను లందరికంటెను అబ్షా లోము కుమార్తెయైన మయకాను అతడు ఎక్కువగా ప్రేమించెను.

21. In all, Rehoboam had eighteen wives and sixty concubines, and he fathered twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters. Of all his wives and concubines he loved Maacah best,

22. రెహబాము మయకాకు పుట్టిన కుమారుడైన అబీయాను రాజును చేయతలచి, అతని సహోదరులమీద ప్రధానునిగాను అధిపతినిగాను అతని నియమించెను.

22. and he favored her son Abijah over all his other children, choosing him as the one to succeed him as king.

23. Rehoboam wisely assigned responsibilities to his sons and stationed them throughout Judah and Benjamin in the fortified cities. He provided generously for them and also secured many wives for them.
