1. యెహూ యేలుబడిలో ఏడవ సంవత్సరమందుయోవాషు ఏలనారంభించి యెరూషలేములో నలువది సంవత్సరములు ఏలెను. అతని తల్లి బెయేర్షెబా సంబంధు రాలైన జిబ్యా.

1. Joash became king of Judah in Jehu's seventh year as king of Israel, and he ruled forty years from Jerusalem. His mother Zibiah was from the town of Beersheba.

2. యాజకుడైన యెహోయాదా తనకు బుద్ధినేర్పువాడై యుండు దినములన్నిటిలో యోవాషు యెహోవా దృష్టికి అనుకూలముగానే ప్రవర్తించెను.

2. Jehoiada the priest taught Joash what was right, and so for the rest of his life Joash obeyed the LORD.

3. అయితే ఉన్నత స్థలములు కొట్టివేయబడక నిలిచెను; జనులు ఇంకను ఉన్నత స్థలములందు బలులు అర్పించుచు ధూపము వేయుచు నుండిరి.

3. But even Joash did not destroy the local shrines, and they were still used as places for offering sacrifices.

4. యోవాషు యాజకులను పిలిపించియెహోవా మంది రములోనికి తేబడు ప్రతిష్ఠిత వస్తువుల విలువను అనగా జనసంఖ్య దాఖలాచేయబడిన జనులు తెచ్చిన ద్రవ్యమును వంతుచొప్పున ప్రతి మనిషికి నిర్ణయమైన ద్రవ్యమును, స్వేచ్ఛచేత నెవరైనను యెహోవా మందిరములోనికి తెచ్చిన ద్రవ్యమును,

4. One day, Joash said to the priests, 'Collect all the money that has been given to the LORD's temple, whether from taxes or gifts,

5. యాజకులలో ఒక్కొక్కడు తనకు నెలవైన వారియొద్ద తీసికొని, మందిరము ఎచ్చటెచ్చట శిథిలమై యున్నదో అచ్చటనెల్ల దానిని బాగుచేయింపవలెనని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను.

5. and use it to repair the temple. You priests can contribute your own money too.'

6. అయితే యోవాషు ఏలుబడిలో ఇరువది మూడవ సంవత్సరమువరకును యాజకులు మందిరము యొక్క శిథిలమైన స్థలములను బాగుచేయకయే యుండిరి గనుక

6. But the priests never started repairing the temple. So in the twenty-third year of his rule,

7. యోవాషు యాజకుడైన యెహోయాదాను మిగి లిన యాజకులను పిలిపించిమందిరములో శిథిలమైన స్థలములను మీరెందుకు బాగుచేయక పోతిరి? ఇకను మీ మీ నెలవైన వారియొద్ద ద్రవ్యము తీసికొనక, మందిరములో శిథిలమైన స్థలములను బాగుచేయుటకై మీరు అంతకుముందు తీసికొనినదాని నప్పగించుడని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చి యుండెను.

7. Joash called for Jehoiada and the other priests and said, 'Why aren't you using the money to repair the temple? Don't take any more money for yourselves. It is only to be used to pay for the repairs.'

8. కాబట్టి యాజకులుమందిరములో శిథిల మైన స్థలములను బాగుచేయుట మా వశము లేదు గనుక జనులయొద్ద ద్రవ్యము ఇక తీసికొనమని చెప్పిరి.

8. The priests agreed that they would not collect any more money or be in charge of the temple repairs.

9. అంతట యాజకుడైన యెహోయాదా ఒక పెట్టెను తెచ్చి దాని మూతకు బెజ్జము చేసి, బలిపీఠము దగ్గరగా యెహోవా మందిరములో ప్రవేశించు వారి కుడిపార్శ్వమందు దాని నుంచగా ద్వారముకాయు యాజకులు యెహోవా మందిరములోనికి వచ్చిన ద్రవ్యమంతయు అందులో వేసిరి.

9. Jehoiada found a wooden box; he cut a hole in the top of it and set it on the right side of the altar where people went into the temple. Whenever someone gave money to the temple, the priests guarding the entrance would put it into this box.

10. పెట్టెలో ద్రవ్యము విస్తారముగా ఉన్నదని వారు తెలియ జేయగా రాజుయొక్క ప్రధాన మంత్రియును ప్రధాన యాజకుడును వచ్చి, యెహోవా మందిరమందు దొరికిన ద్రవ్యము లెక్కచూచి సంచులలో ఉంచిరి.

10. When the box was full of money, the king's secretary and the chief priest would count the money and put it in bags.

11. తరువాత వారు ఆ ద్రవ్యమును తూచి యెహోవా మందిరపు కాపరులకు, అనగా పనిచేయించు వారి కప్పగించిరి; వీరు యెహోవా మందిరమందు పనిచేసిన కంసాలులకును శిల్ప కారులకును కాసెపనివారికిని రాతిపనివారికిని

11. Then they would give it to the men supervising the repairs to the temple. Some of the money was used to pay the builders, the woodworkers,

12. యెహోవా మందిరమందు శిథిలమైన స్థలములను బాగుచేయుటకు మ్రానులనేమి చెక్క బడిన రాళ్లనేమి కొనుటకును, మందిరము బాగుచేయుటలో అయిన ఖర్చు అంతటికిని, ఆ ద్రవ్యము ఇచ్చుచు వచ్చిరి.

12. the stonecutters, and the men who built the walls. And some was used to buy wood and stone and to pay any other costs for repairing the temple.

13. యెహోవా మందిరమునకు వెండి పాత్రలైనను, కత్తెరలైనను, గిన్నెలైనను, బాకాలైనను, బంగారు పాత్రలైనను, వెండిపాత్రలైనను చేయబడలేదు గాని

13. While the repairs were being made, the money that was given to the temple was not used to make silver bowls, lamp snuffers, small sprinkling bowls, trumpets, or anything gold or silver for the temple.

14. మరమ్మతు పనిచేయువారికి మాత్రము ఆ ద్రవ్యము ఇచ్చి యెహోవా మందిరమును మరల బాగు చేయించిరి.

14. It went only to pay for repairs.

15. మరియు పనివారికిచ్చుటకై ఆ ద్రవ్యము అప్పగింత పెట్టుకొనినవారు నమ్మకస్థులని వారిచేత లెక్క అడుగలేదు.

15. The men in charge were honest, so no one had to keep track of the money.

16. అపరాధ పరిహారార్థ బలులవలనను పాప పరిహారార్థ బలులవలనను దొరికిన సొమ్ము యెహోవా మందిరములోనికి తేబడలేదు, అది యాజకులదాయెను.

16. The fines that had to be paid along with the sacrifices to make things right and the sacrifices for sin did not go to the temple. This money belonged only to the priests.

17. అంతట సిరియారాజైన హజాయేలు గాతు పట్టణము మీదికి పోయి యుద్ధముచేసి దాని పట్టుకొనిన తరువాత అతడు యెరూషలేముమీదికి రాదలచియుండగా

17. About the same time, King Hazael of Syria attacked the town of Gath and captured it. Next, he decided to attack Jerusalem.

18. యూదారాజైన యోవాషు తన పితరులైన యెహోషా పాతు యెహోరాము అహజ్యా అను యూదారాజులు ప్రతిష్ఠించిన వస్తువులన్నిటిని, తాను ప్రతిష్ఠించిన వస్తువులను, యెహోవా మందిరములోను రాజనగరులోనున్న పదార్థములలోను కనబడిన బంగారమంతయు తీసికొనిసిరియారాజైన హజాయేలునకు పంపగా అతడు యెరూష లేమునొద్దనుండి తిరిగిపోయెను.

18. So Joash collected everything he and his ancestors Jehoshaphat, Jehoram, and Ahaziah had dedicated to the LORD, as well as the gold in the storage rooms in the temple and palace. He sent it all to Hazael as a gift, and when Hazael received it, he ordered his troops to leave Jerusalem.

19. యోవాషు చేసిన యితర కార్యములనుగూర్చియు అతడు చేసిన దానినంతటిని గూర్చియు యూదారాజుల వృత్తాంతముల గ్రంథమందు వ్రాయబడి యున్నది.

19. Everything else Joash did while he was king is written in The History of the Kings of Judah.

20. At the end of his rule, some of his officers rebelled against him. Jozabad son of Shimeath and Jehozabad son of Shomer murdered him in a building where the land was filled in on the east side of Jerusalem, near the road to Silla. Joash was buried beside his ancestors in Jerusalem, and his son Amaziah became king.

21. ఎట్లనగా షిమాతు కుమారుడైన యోజాకారు షోమేరు కుమారుడైన యెహోజాబాదు అను అతని సేవకులును అతనిమీద పడగా అతడు మరణమాయెను. జనులు దావీదు పురమందు అతని పితరుల సమాధిలో అతనిని పాతిపెట్టిరి; అతని కుమారుడైన అహజ్యా అతనికి మారుగా రాజాయెను.
