1. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు ఫిలిష్తీయులతో యుద్ధము చేయు టకై బయలుదేరి ఎబెనెజరులో దిగగా ఫిలిష్తీయులు ఆఫెకులో దిగిరి.

1. And Samuel spake vnto all Israel: and Israel went out against the Philistims to battel and pitched beside Eben-ezer: and the Philistims pitched in Aphek.

2. ఫిలిష్తీయులు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులమీద తమ్మును యుద్ధపంక్తులుగా తీర్చుకొనగా వారు యుద్ధములో కలిసినప్పుడు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు ఫిలిష్తీయుల యెదుట ఓడిపోయి యుద్ధభూమిలోనే యెక్కువతక్కువ నాలుగు వేలమంది హతులైరి.

2. And the Philistims put themselues in aray against Israel: and when they ioyned the battell, Israel was smitten downe before the Philistims: who slewe of the armie in the fielde about foure thousand men.

3. కాబట్టి జనులు పాళెములోనికి తిరిగిరాగా ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల పెద్దలు యెహోవా నేడు మనలను ఫిలిష్తీయులముందర ఎందుకు ఓడించెను? షిలోహులో నున్న యెహోవా నిబంధన మందస మును మనము తీసికొని మన మధ్య నుంచుకొందము రండి; అది మన మధ్యనుండినయెడల అది మన శత్రువుల చేతిలోనుండి మనలను రక్షించుననిరి.

3. So when the people were come into the campe, the Elders of Israel said, Wherefore hath the Lord smitten vs this day before ye Philistims? let vs bring the Arke of the couenant of the Lord out of Shiloh vnto vs, that when it commeth among vs, it may saue vs out of the hande of our enemies.

4. కాబట్టి జనులు షిలోహునకు కొందరిని పంపి అక్కడనుండి కెరూ బులమధ్య ఆసీనుడైయుండు సైన్యముల కధిపతియగు యెహోవా నిబంధన మందసమును తెప్పించిరి. ఏలీయొక్క యిద్దరు కుమారులైన హొఫ్నీయును ఫీనెహాసును అక్కడనే దేవుని నిబంధన మందసమునొద్ద ఉండిరి.

4. Then the people sent to Shiloh, and brought from thence the Arke of the couenant of the Lord of hostes, who dwelleth betweene the Cherubims: and there were the two sonnes of Eli, Hophni, and Phinehas, with the Arke of the couenant of God.

5. యెహోవా నిబంధన మందసము దండులోనికి రాగా ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరు భూమి ప్రతి ధ్వని నిచ్చునంత గొప్పకేకలు వేసిరి.

5. And when the Arke of the couenant of the Lord came into the hoste, all Israel shouted a mightie shoute, so that the earth rang againe.

6. ఫిలిష్తీయులు ఆ కేకలు విని, హెబ్రీయుల దండులో ఈ గొప్ప కేకలధ్వని యేమని అడిగి, యెహోవా నిబంధన మందసము దండులోనికి వచ్చెనని తెలిసికొని

6. And when the Philistims heard the noyse of the shoute, they said, What meaneth the sound of this mightie shoute in the host of the Ebrewes? and they vnderstoode, that the Arke of the Lord was come into the hoste.

7. జడిసి దేవుడు దండులోనికి వచ్చెనని అనుకొని అయ్యో మనకు శ్రమ, ఇంతకుమునుపు వారీలాగు సంభ్రమింపలేదు,

7. And the Philistims were afraide, and saide, God is come into the hoste: therefore saide they, Wo vnto vs: for it hath not bene so heretofore.

8. అయ్యయ్యో మహాశూరు డగు ఈ దేవుని చేతిలోనుండి మనలను ఎవరు విడిపింప గలరు? అరణ్యమందు అనేకమైన తెగుళ్లచేత ఐగుప్తీయులను హతము చేసిన దేవుడు ఈయనే గదా.

8. Wo vnto vs, who shall deliuer vs out of the hande of these mightie Gods? these are the Gods that smote the Egyptians with all the plagues in the wildernes.

9. ఫిలిష్తీయు లారా, ధైర్యము తెచ్చుకొని వారు మీకు దాసులైనట్టు మీరు హెబ్రీయులకు దాసులు కాకుండ బలాఢ్యులై యుద్ధము చేయుడని చెప్పుకొనిరి.

9. Be strong and play the men, O Philistims, that ye be not seruants vnto the Ebrewes, as they haue serued you: be valiant therefore, and fight.

10. ఫిలిష్తీయులు యుద్దముచేయగా ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు ఓడిపోయి అందరు తమ డేరాలకు పరుగెత్తివచ్చిరి. అప్పుడు అత్యధికమైన వధ జరిగెను; ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలో ముప్పదివేల కాల్బలము కూలెను.

10. And the Philistims fought, and Israel was smitten downe, and fled euery man into his tent: and there was an exceeding great slaughter: for there fell of Israel thirtie thousand footemen.

11. మరియు దేవుని మందసము పట్టబడెను; అదికాకను హొఫ్నీ ఫీనెహాసులను ఏలీయొక్క యిద్దరు కుమారులు హతులైరి.

11. And the Arke of God was taken, and the two sonnes of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas died.

12. ఆ నాడే బెన్యామీనీయుడొకడు యుద్ధభూమిలోనుండి పరుగెత్తివచ్చి, చినిగిన బట్టలతోను తలమీద ధూళితోను షిలోహులో ప్రవేశించెను.

12. And there ranne a man of Beniamin out of the armie, and came to Shiloh the same day with his clothes rent, and earth vpon his head.

13. అతడు వచ్చినప్పుడు ఏలీ మందసము విషయమై గుండె అవియుచు త్రోవప్రక్కను పీఠముమీద కూర్చుండి యెదురుచూచుచుండెను. ఆ మనుష్యుడు పట్టణములోనికి వర్తమానము తేగా పట్టణస్థులందరు కేకలు వేసిరి.

13. And when hee came, loe, Eli sate vpon a seate by the wayside, wayting: for his heart feared for the Arke of God and when the man came into the citie to tell it, all the citie cried out.

14. ఏలీ ఆ కేకలు వినిఈ గల్లత్తు యేమని అడుగగా ఆ మనుష్యుడు త్వరగా వచ్చి ఏలీతో సంగతి తెలియచెప్పెను.

14. And when Eli heard the noyse of the crying, he sayd, What meaneth this noyse of the tumult? and the man came in hastily, and tolde Eli.

15. ఏలీ తొంబది యెనిమిదేండ్లవాడై యుండెను. అతనికి దృష్టి మందగిలినందున అతని కండ్లు కానరాకుండెను.

15. (Nowe Eli was fourescore and eighteene yeere olde, and his eyes were dimme that hee could not see)

16. ఆ మనుష్యుడుయుద్ధములోనుండి వచ్చినవాడను నేనే, నేడు యుద్ధములోనుండి పరుగెత్తి వచ్చితినని ఏలీతో అనగా అతడునాయనా, అక్కడ ఏమి జరిగెనని అడిగెను.

16. And the man sayd vnto Eli, I came from the armie, and I fled this day out of the hoste: and he sayd, What thing is done, my sonne?

17. అందుకు అతడుఇశ్రాయేలీ యులు ఫిలిష్తీయులముందర నిలువలేక పారిపోయిరి; జను లలో అనేకులు హతులైరి; హొఫ్నీ ఫీనెహాసు అను నీ యిద్దరు కుమారులు మృతులైరి; మరియు దేవుని మందసము పట్టబడెను అని చెప్పెను

17. Then the messenger answered and sayd, Israel is fled before the Philistims, and there hath bene also a great slaughter among the people: and moreouer thy two sonnes, Hophni and Phinehas are dead, and the Arke of God is taken.

18. దేవుని మందసమను మాట అతడు పలుకగానే ఏలీ ద్వారముదగ్గర నున్న పీఠము మీదనుండి వెనుకకు పడి మెడవిరిగి చనిపోయెను; ఏల యనగా అతడు వృద్ధుడై బహు స్థూలదేహియై యుండెను. అతడు నలువది సంవత్సరములు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు న్యాయము తీర్చెను.

18. And when he had made mention of the Arke of God, Eli fell from his seate backward by the side of the gate, and his necke was broken, and he dyed: for he was an olde man and heauie: and he had iudged Israel fourtie yeeres.

19. ఏలీ కోడలగు ఫీనెహాసు భార్యకు అప్పటికి గర్భము కలిగి కనుప్రొద్దులైయుండగా దేవుని యొక్క మందసము పట్టబడెననియు, తన మామయు తన పెనిమిటియు చనిపోయిరనియు ఆమె విని నొప్పులుతగిలి మోకాళ్లమీదికి క్రుంగి ప్రసవమాయెను.

19. And his daughter in lawe Phinehas wife was with childe neere her trauell: and when she heard the report that the Arke of God was taken, and that her father in lawe and her husband were dead, she bowed her selfe, and trauailed: for her paines came vpon her.

20. ఆమె మృతినొందుచుండగా దగ్గర నిలిచియున్న స్త్రీలు ఆమెతోభయపడవద్దు, కుమారుని కంటివనిరి గాని ఆమె ప్రత్యుత్తరమియ్యకయు లక్ష్యపెట్టకయు నుండినదై

20. And about the time of her death, the women that stoode about her, sayd vnto her, Feare not: for thou hast borne a sonne: but she answered not, nor regarded it.

21. దేవుని మందసము పట్టబడినదను సంగతిని, తన మామయు పెనిమిటియు చనిపోయిన సంగతిని తెలిసికొని ప్రభావము ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలోనుండి పోయెనని చెప్పి తన బిడ్డకు ఈకాబోదు అను పేరు పెట్టెను.

21. And she named the childe Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel, because the Arke of God was taken, and because of her father in lawe and her husband.

22. దేవుని మందసము పట్టబడి పోయినందున ప్రభావము ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలోనుండి చెరపట్టబడి పోయెనని ఆమె చెప్పెను.

22. She sayde againe, The glory is departed from Israel: for the Arke of God is taken.
