1. దావీదును అతని జనులును మూడవ దినమందు సిక్లగునకు వచ్చిరి; అంతలో అమాలేకీయులు దండెత్తి దక్షిణ దేశముమీదను సిక్లగుమీదను పడి, కొట్టి దానిని తగులబెట్టి,

1. And it came to pass when David and his men had entered Ziklag on the third day, that Amalek had made an incursion upon the south, and upon Ziklag, and attacked Ziklag, and burned it with fire.

2. ఘనులనేమి అల్పులనేమి అందులోనున్న ఆడువారందరిని చెరపట్టుకొని చంపక వారిని తీసికొని వెళ్లిపోయి యుండిరి.

2. And as to the women and all things that were in it, great and small, they killed neither man nor woman, but carried them away captive, and went on their way.

3. దావీదును అతని జనులును పట్టణమునకు వచ్చి అది కాల్చబడియుండుటయు, తమ భార్యలును కుమారులును కుమార్తెలును చెరలోనికి కొని పోబడి యుండుటయు చూచి

3. And David and his men came into the city, and behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters were carried away captive.

4. ఇక ఏడ్చుటకు శక్తిలేక పోవునంత బిగ్గరగా ఏడ్చిరి.

4. And David and his men lifted up their voice, and wept till there was no longer any power within them to weep.

5. యజ్రెయేలీయురాలైన అహీనోయము, కర్మెలీయుడైన నాబాలు భార్యయయిన అబీగయీలు అను దావీదు ఇద్దరు భార్యలును చెరలోనికి కొనిపోబడగా చూచి

5. And both the wives of David were carried captive, Ahinoam, the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.

6. దావీదు మిక్కిలి దుఃఖపడెను. మరియు తమ తమ కుమారులను బట్టియు కుమార్తెలను బట్టియు జనులకందరికి ప్రాణము విసికినందున రాళ్లు రువి్వ దావీదును చంపుదము రండని వారు చెప్పు కొనగా దావీదు తన దేవుడైన యెహోవానుబట్టి ధైర్యము తెచ్చుకొనెను.

6. And David was greatly distressed, because the people spoke of stoning him, because the souls of all the people were grieved, each for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.

7. పమ్మట దావీదుఏఫోదు తెమ్మని యాజ కుడగు అహీమెలెకు కుమారుడైన అబ్యాతారుతో చెప్పగా అబ్యాతారు ఏఫోదును దావీదు నొద్దకు తీసికొనివచ్చెను.

7. And David said to Abiathar the priest the son of Ahimelech, Bring the ephod here to me.

8. నేను ఈ దండును తరిమినయెడల దాని కలిసికొందునా అని యెహోవా యొద్ద దావీదు విచారణచేయగా యెహోవాతరుము, నిశ్చయముగా నీవు వారిని కలిసికొని తప్పక నీవారినందరిని దక్కించుకొందువని సెల విచ్చెను.

8. And David inquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? Shall I overtake them? And He said to him, Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them, and you shall surely rescue the [captives].

9. కాబట్టి దావీదు అతనియొద్దనున్న ఆరువందల మంది యును బయలుదేరి బెసోరు వాగుగట్టుకు రాగా వారిలో రెండువందల మంది వెనుక దిగవిడువబడిరి.

9. So David went, he and the six hundred men with him, and they came as far as the brook Besor, and the superfluous ones stopped.

10. దావీదును నాలుగువందల మందియును ఇంక తరుముచు పోయిరి గాని ఆ రెండువందల మంది అలసట పడి బెసోరు వాగు దాటలేక ఆగిరి. ఆ నాలుగు వందలమంది పోవు చుండగా

10. And he pursued them with four hundred men; and two hundred men remained behind, who tarried on the other side of the brook Besor.

11. పొలములో ఒక ఐగుప్తీయుడు కనబడెను. వారు దావీదునొద్దకు వాని తోడుకొనివచ్చి, వాడు మూడు రాత్రింబగళ్లు అన్నపానము లేమియు పుచ్చు కొనలేదని తెలిసికొని, వానికి భోజనము పెట్టి దాహమిచ్చి అంజూరపు అడలోని ముక్కను రెండు ద్రాక్షగెలలను వానికిచ్చిరి.

11. And they found an Egyptian in the field, and they took him, and brought him to David. And they gave him bread and he ate, and they caused him to drink water.

12. వాడు భోజనము చేసిన తరువాత వాని ప్రాణము తెప్పరిల్లగా

12. And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs, and he ate, and his spirit was restored in him; for he had not eaten bread, and had not drunk water three days and three nights.

13. దావీదు నీవు ఏ దేశపువాడవు? ఎక్కడనుండి వచ్చితివని వాని నడిగెను. అందుకు వాడునేను ఐగుప్తీయుడనై పుట్టి అమాలేకీయుడైన యొకనికి దాసుడనైతిని; మూడు దినముల క్రిందట నేను కాయిలా పడగా నా యజమానుడు నన్ను విడిచిపెట్టి పోయెను.

13. And David said to him, to whom do you [belong]? And where are you from? And the young man the Egyptian said, I am the servant of an Amalekite; and my master left me, because I was taken ill three days ago.

14. మేము దండెత్తి కెరేతీయుల దక్షిణ దేశమునకును యూదా దేశమునకును కాలేబు దక్షిణ దేశమునకును వచ్చి వాటిని దోచుకొని సిక్లగును కాల్చివేసితిమని చెప్పెను.

14. And we made an incursion on the south of the Cherethites, and on the parts of Judea, and on the south of Caleb, and we burned Ziklag with fire.

15. ఆ దండును కలిసికొనుటకై నీవు నాకు దోవచూపుదువా అని దావీదు వాని నడుగగా వాడునేను నిన్ను చంపననియు నీ యజమానుని వశము చేయననియు దేవునిబట్టి నీవు నాకు ప్రమాణము చేసినయెడల ఆ దండును కలిసి కొనుటకు నీకు దోవచూపుదుననెను.

15. And David said to him, Will you bring me down to this troop? And he said, Swear now to me by God, that you will not kill me, and that you will not deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring you down upon this troop.

16. తరువాత వాడు వారి దగ్గరకు దావీదును నడిపింపగా, ఫిలిష్తీయుల దేశము లోనుండియు యూదా దేశములోనుండియు తాముదోచి తెచ్చికొనిన సొమ్ముతో తులదూగుచు, వారు ఆ ప్రదేశమంతట చెదిరి అన్నపానములు పుచ్చుకొనుచు ఆటపాటలు సలుపుచుండిరి.

16. So he brought him down there, and behold, they were scattered abroad upon the surface of the whole land, eating and drinking, and feasting by reason of all the great spoils which they had taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah.

17. దావీదు సంగతిని గ్రహించి సంధ్యవేళ మొదలుకొని మరునాటి సాయంత్రమువరకు వారిని హతము చేయుచుండగా, ఒంటెలమీద ఎక్కిపారి పోయిన నాలుగువందల మంది ¸యౌవనులు తప్ప తప్పించుకొనినవాడు ఒకడును లేకపోయెను.

17. And David came upon them, and attacked them from the morning till the evening, and on the next day; and not one of them escaped, except four hundred young men, who were mounted on camels, and fled.

18. ఈలాగున దావీదు అమాలేకీయులు దోచుకొని పోయిన దానంతటిని తిరిగి తెచ్చుకొనెను. మరియు అతడు తన యిద్దరు భార్యలను రక్షించెను.

18. And David recovered all that the Amalekites had taken, and he rescued both his wives.

19. కుమారులేమి కుమార్తెలేమి దోపుడు సొమ్మేమి వారు ఎత్తికొనిపోయిన దానంతటిలో కొద్దిదేమి గొప్పదేమి యేదియు తక్కువకాకుండ దావీదు సమస్తమును రక్షించెను.

19. And nothing was lacking to them, great or small; either of the spoils, or the sons and daughters, or anything that they had taken of theirs. And David recovered all.

20. మరియు దావీదు అమాలేకీయుల గొఱ్ఱెలన్నిటిని గొడ్లన్నిటిని పట్టుకొనెను. ఇవి దావీదునకు దోపుడు సొమ్మని జనులు మిగిలిన తమ స్వంత పశువులకు ముందుగా వీటిని తోలిరి.

20. And he took all the flocks, and the herds, and led them away before the spoils. And it was said of these spoils, These are the spoils of David.

21. అలసటచేత దావీ దును వెంబడించలేక బెసోరు వాగు దగ్గర నిలిచిన ఆ రెండువందల మందియొద్దకు దావీదు పోగా వారు దావీ దును అతనియొద్దనున్న జనులను ఎదుర్కొనుటకై బయలు దేరి వచ్చిరి. దావీదు ఈ జనులయొద్దకు వచ్చి వారి యోగక్షేమమడుగగా

21. And David came to the two hundred men who were left behind, that they should not follow after David, and he had caused them to remain by the brook of Besor. And they came forth to meet David, and to meet his people with him. And David drew near to the people, and they asked him how he did [it].

22. దావీదుతోకూడ వెళ్లినవారిలో దుర్మార్గులును, పనికి మాలినవారునైన కొందరువీరు మనతోకూడ రాక నిలిచిరి గనుక తమ భార్యలను పిల్లలను తప్ప మనకు మరల వచ్చిన దోపుడు స ొమ్ములో మన మేమియు వీరికియ్యము; తమ భార్య పిల్లలను వారు తీసికొని పోవచ్చుననిరి.

22. Then every ill-disposed and bad man of the soldiers who had gone with David, answered and said, Because they did not pursue together with us, we will not give them of the spoils which we have recovered, only let each one lead away with him his wife and his children, and let them return.

23. అందుకు దావీదు వారితో ఇట్లనెనునా సహోదరు లారా, యెహోవా మనలను కాపాడి మనమీదికి వచ్చిన యీ దండును మనకప్పగించి మనకు దయచేసిన దాని విషయములో మీరు ఈలాగున చేయ కూడదు.

23. And David said, You shall not do so, after the Lord has delivered [the enemy] to us, and guarded us, and the Lord has delivered into our hands the troop that came against you.

24. మీరు చెప్పినది యెవరు ఒప్పుకొందురు? యుద్ధమునకు పోయినవాని భాగమెంతో సామానునొద్ద నిలిచిన వాని భాగము అంతే అని వాడుక మాట; అందరు సమముగానే పాలు పంచుకొందురు గదా

24. And who will hearken to these your words? For they are not inferior to us; for according to the portion of him that went down to the battle, so shall be the portion of him that abides with the baggage; they shall share alike.

25. కావున నాటనుండి నేటివరకు దావీదు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలో అట్టి పంపకము కట్టడగాను న్యాయ విధిగాను ఏర్పరచి నియమించెను.

25. And it came to pass from that day forward, that it became an ordinance and a custom in Israel until this day.

26. దావీదు సిక్లగునకు వచ్చినప్పుడు దోపుడు సొమ్ములో కొంత తన స్నేహితులైన యూదా పెద్దలకు ఏర్పరచియెహోవా శత్రువులయొద్ద నేను దోచుకొనిన సొమ్ములో కొంత ఆశీర్వాదసూచనగా మీకు ఇచ్చుచున్నానని చెప్పి వారికి పంపించెను.

26. And David came to Ziklag, and sent of the spoils to the elders of Judah, and to his friends, saying, Behold, [some] of the spoils of the enemies of the Lord;

27. బేతేలులోను దక్షిణ రామోతులోను యత్తీరులోను

27. to those in Bethel, and to those in Ramoth of the south, and to those in Jattir.

28. అరోయేరులోను షిప్మోతులోను ఎష్తెమోలోను

28. And to those in Aroer, and to those in Siphmoth, and to those in Saphi, and to those in Eshtemoa, [ 30:29] and to those in Gath, and to those in Cimath, and to those in Saphec, and to those in Themath,

29. రాకాలులోను యెరహ్మెయేలీయుల గ్రామములలోను కేనీయుల గ్రామములలోను

29. and to those in Carmel, and to those in the cities of Jeremeel, and to those in the cities of the Kenite;

30. హోర్మాలోను కోరాషానులోను అతాకులోను

30. and to those in Jerimuth, and to those in Beersheba, and to those in Nombe,

31. హెబ్రోనులోను దావీదును అతని జనులును సంచరించిన స్థలము లన్నిటిలోను ఉన్న పెద్దలకు దావీదు పంపించెను.

31. and to those in Hebron, and to all the places which David and his men had passed through.
