1. అంతట జీఫీయులు గిబియాలో సౌలునొద్దకు వచ్చిదావీదు యెషీమోను ఎదుట హకీలామన్య ములో దాగి యున్నాడని తెలియజేయగా

1. Once again, some people from Ziph went to Gibeah to talk with Saul. 'David has a hideout on Mount Hachilah near Jeshimon out in the desert,' they told him.

2. సౌలు లేచి ఇశ్రాయేలీ యులలో ఏర్పరచబడిన మూడువేల మందిని తీసికొని జీఫు అరణ్యములో దావీదును వెదకుటకు జీఫు అరణ్య మునకు పోయెను.

2. Saul took three thousand of Israel's best soldiers and went to look for David there in Ziph Desert.

3. సౌలు యెషీమోను ఎదుటనున్న హకీలామన్యమందు త్రోవ ప్రక్కను దిగగా, దావీదు అరణ్యములో నివసించుచుండి తన్ను పట్టుకొనవలెనని సౌలు అరణ్యమునకు వచ్చెనని విని

3. Saul set up camp on Mount Hachilah, which is across the road from Jeshimon. But David was hiding out in the desert. When David heard that Saul was following him,

4. వేగులవారిని పంపి నిశ్చయముగా సౌలు వచ్చెనని తెలిసికొనెను.

4. he sent some spies to find out if it was true.

5. తరువాత దావీదు లేచి సౌలు దండు దిగిన స్థలము దగ్గరకు వచ్చి, సౌలును సౌలునకు సైన్యాధిపతియగు నేరు కుమారు డైన అబ్నేరును పరుండియుండగా వారున్నస్థలము కను గొనెను. సౌలు దండుక్రొత్తళములో పండుకొనగా దండువారు అతనిచుట్టు నుండిరి.

5. Then he sneaked up to Saul's camp. He noticed that Saul and his army commander Abner the son of Ner were sleeping in the middle of the camp, with soldiers sleeping all around them.

6. అప్పుడు దావీదుపాళెములోనికి సౌలు దగ్గరకు నాతోకూడ ఎవరు వత్తురని హిత్తీయుడైన అహీమెలెకును సెరూయా కుమారుడును యోవాబునకు సహోదరుడునగు అబీషైని నడుగగానీతోకూడ నేనే వత్తునని అబీషై యనెను.

6. David asked Ahimelech the Hittite and Joab's brother Abishai, 'Which one of you will go with me into Saul's camp?' 'I will!' Abishai answered.

7. దావీదును అబీషైయును రాత్రివేళ ఆ జనుల దగ్గరకు పోగా సౌలు దండు క్రొత్తళములో పండుకొని నిద్ర బోవుచుండెను, అతని యీటె అతని తలగడ దగ్గర నేలను నాటియుండెను, అబ్నేరును జనులును అతని చుట్టు పండుకొనియుండిరి.

7. That same night, David and Abishai crept into the camp. Saul was sleeping, and his spear was stuck in the ground not far from his head. Abner and the soldiers were sound asleep all around him.

8. అప్పుడు అబీషై దావీదుతోదేవుడు ఈ దినమున నీ శత్రువుని నీకప్పగించెను; కాబట్టి నీ చిత్తమైతే ఆ యీటెతో ఒక్కపోటు పొడిచి, నేనతనిని భూమికి నాటివేతును, ఒక దెబ్బతోనే పరిష్కారము చేతుననగా

8. Abishai whispered, 'This time God has let you get your hands on your enemy! I'll pin him to the ground with one thrust of his own spear.'

9. దావీదునీవతని చంపకూడదు, యెహోవాచేత అభిషేకము నొందినవానిని చంపి నిర్దోషియగుట యెవనికి సాధ్యము?

9. Don't kill him!' David whispered back. 'The LORD will punish anyone who kills his chosen king.

10. యహోవా జీవముతోడు యెహోవాయే అతని మొత్తును, అతడు అపాయమువలన చచ్చును, లేదా యుద్ధమునకు పోయి నశించును;

10. As surely as the LORD lives, the LORD will kill Saul, or Saul will die a natural death or be killed in battle.

11. యెహోవాచేత అభిషేకము నొందిన వానిని నేను చంపను; ఆలాగున నేను చేయకుండ యెహోవా నన్ను ఆపునుగాక. అయితే అతని తలగడ దగ్గరనున్న యీటెను నీళ్ల బుడ్డిని తీసికొని మనము వెళ్లిపోదము రమ్మని అబీషైతో చెప్పి

11. But I pray that the LORD will keep me from harming his chosen king. Let's grab his spear and his water jar and get out of here!'

12. సౌలు తలగడదగ్గర నున్న యీటెను నీళ్లబుడ్డిని తీసికొని వారిద్దరు వెళ్లిపోయిరి. యెహోవాచేత వారి కందరికి గాఢనిద్ర కలుగగా వారిలో ఎవడును నిద్ర మేలుకొనలేదు, ఎవడును వచ్చిన వారిని చూడలేదు, జరిగినదాని గుర్తు పట్టినవాడొకడును లేడు.

12. David took the spear and the water jar, then left the camp. None of Saul's soldiers knew what had happened or even woke up--the LORD had made all of them fall sound asleep.

13. తరువాత దావీదు అవతలకుపోయి దూరముగా నున్న కొండమీద నిలిచి, ఉభయుల మధ్యను చాలా యెడముండగా

13. David and Abishai crossed the valley and went to the top of the next hill, where they were at a safe distance.

14. జనులును నేరు కుమారుడైన అబ్నేరును వినునట్లు అబ్నేరూ, నీవు మాటలాడవా? అని కేక వేయగా అబ్నేరు కేకలువేసిరాజును నిద్రలేపు నీవెవడవని అడిగెను.

14. Abner!' David shouted toward Saul's army. 'Can you hear me?' Abner shouted back. 'Who dares disturb the king?'

15. అందుకు దావీదునీవు మగవాడవు కావా? ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలో నీ వంటివాడెవడు? నీకు యజమానుడగు రాజునకు నీ వెందుకు కాపు కాయక పోతివి? నీకు యజమానుడగు రాజును సంహరించుటకు జనులలో ఒకడు చేరువకు వచ్చెనే;

15. Abner, what kind of a man are you?' David replied. 'Aren't you supposed to be the best soldier in Israel? Then why didn't you protect your king? Anyone who went into your camp could have killed him tonight.

16. నీ ప్రవర్తన అను కూలము కాదు, నీవు శిక్షకు పాత్రుడవే; యెహోవా చేత అభిషేకము నొందిన నీ యేలినవానికి నీవు రక్షకముగా నుండలేదు; యెహోవా జీవముతోడు నీవు మరణశిక్షకు పాత్రుడవు. రాజుయొక్క యీటె యెక్కడ నున్నదో చూడుము, అతని తలగడయొద్దనున్న నీళ్లబుడ్డి యెక్కడ నున్నదో చూడుము అని పలికెను.

16. You're a complete failure! I swear by the living LORD that you and your men deserve to die for not protecting the LORD's chosen king. Look and see if you can find the king's spear and the water jar that were near his head.'

17. సౌలు దావీదు స్వరము ఎరిగిదావీదా నాయనా, యిది నీ స్వరమేగదా అని అనగా దావీదు ఇట్లనెనునా యేలినవాడా నా రాజా, నా స్వరమే.

17. Saul could tell it was David's voice, and he called out, 'David, my son! Is that you?' 'Yes it is, Your Majesty.

18. నా యేలిన వాడు తన దాసుని ఈలాగు ఎందుకు తరుముచున్నాడు? నేనేమి చేసితిని? నావలన ఏ కీడు నీకు సంభవించును?

18. Why are you after me? Have I done something wrong, or have I committed a crime?

19. రాజా నా యేలిన వాడా, నీ దాసుని మాటలు వినుము. నామీద పడవలెనని యెహోవా నిన్ను ప్రేరేపించినయెడల నైవేద్యము చేసి ఆయనను శాంతిపరచవచ్చును. అయితే నరులెవరైనను నిన్ను ప్రేరేపించిన యెడల వారు యెహోవా దృష్టికి శాపగ్రస్తులగుదురు. వారునీవు దేశమును విడిచి అన్య దేవతలను పూజించుమని నాతో చెప్పి, యెహోవా స్వాస్థ్యమునకు హత్తుకొనకుండ నన్ను వెలివేయు చున్నారు.

19. Please listen to what I have to say. If the LORD has turned you against me, maybe a sacrifice will make him change his mind. But if some people have turned you against me, I hope the LORD will punish them! They have forced me to leave the land that belongs to the LORD and have told me to worship foreign gods.

20. నా దేశమునకు దూరముగాను, యెహోవా సన్నిధికి ఎడమగాను నేను మరణము నొందకపోవుదును గాక. ఒకడు పర్వతములమీద కౌజుపిట్టను తరిమినట్టు ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజవైన నీవు మిన్నల్లిని వెదకుటకై బయలుదేరి వచ్చితివి.

20. Don't let me die in a land far away from the LORD. I'm no more important than a flea! Why should the king of Israel hunt me down as if I were a bird in the mountains?'

21. అందుకు సౌలునేను పాపము చేసితిని, ఈ దినమున నాప్రాణము నీ దృష్టికి ప్రియముగా నుండినదానిబట్టి నేను నీకిక కీడుచేయను. దావీదా నాయనా, నాయొద్దకు తిరిగిరమ్ము; వెఱ్ఱి వాడనై నేను బహు తప్పు చేసితిననగా

21. David, you had the chance to kill me today. But you didn't. I was very wrong about you. It was a terrible mistake for me to try to kill you. I've acted like a fool, but I'll never try to harm you again. You're like a son to me, so please come back.'

22. దావీదురాజా, యిదిగో నీ యీటె నాయొద్దనున్నది, పనివారిలో నొకడు వచ్చి దాని తీసికొనవచ్చును.

22. Your Majesty, here's your spear! Have one of your soldiers come and get it.

23. యెహోవా ఈ దినము నిన్ను నాకు అప్పగించినను నేను యెహోవా చేత అభిషేకము నొందినవానిని చంపనొల్లక పోయినందున ఆయన నా నీతిని నా విశ్వాస్యతను చూచి నాకు ప్రతిఫలము దయ చేయును.

23. The LORD put you in my power today, but you are his chosen king and I wouldn't harm you. The LORD rewards people who are faithful and live right.

24. చిత్తగించుము, ఈ దినమున నీ ప్రాణము నా దృష్టికి ఘనమైనందున యెహోవా నా ప్రాణమును తన దృష్టికి ఘనముగా ఎంచి బాధలన్నిటిలోనుండి నన్ను రక్షించునుగాక అని చెప్పెను.

24. I saved your life today, and I pray that the LORD will protect me and keep me safe.'

25. అందుకు సౌలుదావీదా నాయనా, నీవు ఆశీర్వాదము పొందుదువు గాక; నీవు ఘనకార్యములను పూనుకొని విజయము నొందుదువుగాక అని దావీదుతో అనెను. అప్పుడు దావీదు తన మార్గమున వెళ్లిపోయెను, సౌలును తన స్థలమునకు తిరిగి వచ్చెను.

25. David, my son, I pray that the Lord will bless you and make you successful!' Saul went back home. David also left,
