1. సౌలు ఫిలిష్తీయులను తరుముట మాని తిరిగిరాగా దావీదు ఏన్గెదీ అరణ్యమందున్నాడని అతనికి వర్తమానము వచ్చెను.

1. [ 24:2] And it came to pass when Saul returned from pursuing after the Philistines, that it was reported to him, saying, David is in the Wilderness of En Gedi.

2. అప్పుడు సౌలు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరిలోనుండి మూడు వేలమందిని ఏర్పరచుకొని వచ్చి, కొండమేకలకు వాసములగు శిలాపర్వతములమీద దావీదును అతని జనులను వెదకుటకై బయలుదేరెను.

2. [ 24:3] And he took with him three thousand men, chosen out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men in front of Saddaeem.

3. మార్గముననున్న గొఱ్ఱె దొడ్లకు అతడు రాగా అక్కడ గుహ యొకటి కనబడెను. అందులో సౌలు శంకానివర్తికి పోగా దావీదును అతని జనులును ఆ గుహ లోపలిభాగములలో ఉండిరి గనుక

3. [ 24:4] And he came to the flocks of sheep that were by the way, and there was a cave there. And Saul went in to make preparation, and David and his men were sitting in the inner part of the cave.

4. దావీదు జనులు అదిగోనీ దృష్టికి ఏది మంచిదో అది నీవు అతనికి చేయునట్లు నీ శత్రువుని నీ చేతికి అప్పగింతు నని యెహోవా నీతో చెప్పిన దినము వచ్చెనని అతనితో అనగా; దావీదు లేచి వచ్చి సౌలునకు తెలియకుండ అతని పైవస్త్రపు చెంగును కోసెను.

4. [ 24:5] And the men of David said to him, Behold, this is the day of which the Lord spoke to you, that He would deliver your enemy into your hands; and you shall do to him as it is good in your sight. So David arose and cut off the skirt of Saul's garment secretly.

5. సౌలు పైవస్త్రమును తాను కోసెనని దావీదు మనస్సు నొచ్చి

5. [ 24:6] And it came to pass after this that David's heart troubled him because he had cut off the skirt of his garment.

6. ఇతడు యెహోవాచేత అభిషేకము నొందినవాడు గనుక యెహోవాచేత అభిషిక్తుడైన నా ప్రభువునకు నేను ఈ కార్యము చేయను, యెహోవానుబట్టి అతని నేను చంపను అని తన జనులతో చెప్పెను.

6. [ 24:7] And David said to his men, The Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my master, the Lord's anointed, to lift my hand against him; for he is the anointed of the Lord.

7. ఈ మాటలు చెప్పి దావీదు తన జనులను అడ్డగించి సౌలు మీదికి పోనియ్యక వారిని ఆపెను. తరువాత సౌలు లేచి గుహలోనుండి బయలువెళ్లి మార్గమున పోయెను.

7. [ 24:8] So David persuaded his men by his words, and did not allow them to rise up and kill Saul. And Saul arose and went his way.

8. అప్పుడు దావీదు లేచి గుహలోనుండి బయలువెళ్లినా యేలినవాడా రాజా, అని సౌలు వెనుకనుండి కేక వేయగా సౌలు వెనుక చూచెను. దావీదు నేల సాష్టాంగ పడి నమస్కారము చేసి

8. [ 24:9] And David rose up and went after him out of the cave. And David cried after Saul, saying, My lord, O king! And Saul looked behind him, and David stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed down to him.

9. సౌలుతో ఇట్లనెనుదావీదు నీకు కీడుచేయనుద్దే శించుచున్నాడని జనులు చెప్పిన మాటలు నీవెందుకు విను చున్నావు?

9. [ 24:10] And David said to Saul, Why do you listen to the words of the people, saying, Behold, David seeks you life?

10. ఆలోచించుము; ఈ దినమున యెహోవా నిన్ను ఏలాగు గుహలో నాచేతికి అప్పగించెనో అది నీ కండ్లార చూచితివే; కొందరు నిన్ను చంపుమని నాతో చెప్పినను నేను నీయందు కనికరించిఇతడు యెహోవాచేత అభిషేకము నొందినవాడు గనుక నా యేలినవాని చంపనని నేను చెప్పితిని.

10. [ 24:11] Behold, your eyes have seen this day how that the Lord has delivered you into my hands in the cave. And I would not kill you, but I spared you, and said, I will not lift up my hand against my master, for he is the Lord's anointed.

11. నా తండ్రీ చూడుము, ఇదిగో, చూడుము. నిన్ను చంపక నీ వస్త్రపుచెంగు మాత్రమే కోసితిని గనుక నావలన నీకు కీడు ఎంతమాత్రుును రాదనియు, నాలో తప్పిదము ఎంతమాత్రమును లేదనియు, నీవు తెలిసికొనవచ్చును. నీ విషయమై నేను ఏపాపమును చేయనివాడనై యుండగా నీవు నా ప్రాణము తీయవలెనని నన్ను తరుముచున్నావు.

11. [ 24:12] And behold, the skirt of your mantle is in my hand, I cut off the skirt, and did not kill you. Know then and see this day, there is no evil in my hand, nor impiety, nor rebellion; and I have not sinned against you, yet you lay snares for my life, to take it.

12. నీకును నాకును మధ్య యెహోవా న్యాయము తీర్చును. యెహోవా నా విషయమై పగతీర్చునుగాని నేను నిన్ను చంపను.

12. [ 24:13] The Lord judge between me and you, and the Lord vindicate you on yourself. But my hand shall not be upon you.

13. పూర్వికులు సామ్యము చెప్పినట్టు దుష్టుల చేతనే దౌష్ట్యము పుట్టునుగాని నేను నిన్ను చంపను.

13. [ 24:14] As the old proverb says, Transgression will proceed from the wicked ones; but my hand shall not be upon you.

14. ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల రాజు ఎవని పట్టుకొన బయలుదేరి వచ్చి యున్నాడు? ఏపాటివానిని తరుముచున్నాడు? చచ్చిన కుక్కనుగదా? మిన్నల్లిని గదా?

14. [ 24:15] And now after whom do you come forth, O king of Israel? After whom do you pursue? After a dead dog, and after a flea?

15. యెహోవా నీకును నాకును మధ్య న్యాయాధిపతియై తీర్పు తీర్చునుగాక; ఆయనే సంగతి విచారించి నా పక్షమున వ్యాజ్యెమాడి నీ వశము కాకుండ నన్ను నిర్దోషినిగా తీర్చునుగాక.

15. [ 24:16] The Lord be judge and umpire between me and you, the Lord look upon and judge my cause, and rescue me out of your hand.

16. దావీదు ఈ మాటలు సౌలుతో మాటలాడి చాలింపగా సౌలుదావీదా నాయనా, ఈ పలుకు నీదేనా అని బిగ్గరగా ఏడ్చి

16. [ 24:17] And it came to pass when David had finished speaking these words to Saul, that Saul said, Is this your voice, son David? And Saul lifted up his voice, and wept.

17. దావీదుతో ఇట్లనెను - యెహోవా నన్ను నీచేతి కప్పగింపగా నన్ను చంపక విడిచినందుకు

17. [ 24:18] And Saul said to David, You are more righteous than I, for you have recompensed me with good, but I have recompensed you with evil.

18. ఈ దినమున నీవు నా అపకారమునకు ఉపకారముచేసిన వాడవై, నా యెడల నీకున్న ఉపకారబుద్ధిని వెల్లడిచేసితివి గనుక నీవు నాకంటె నీతిపరుడవు.

18. [ 24:19] And you have told me today what good you have done me, how the Lord shut me up into your hands today, and you did not kill me.

19. ఒకనికి తన శత్రువు దొరికినయెడల మేలుచేసి పంపివేయునా? ఈ దినమున నీవు నాకు చేసినదానినిబట్టి యెహోవా ప్రతిగా నీకు మేలు చేయునుగాక.

19. [ 24:20] And if anyone should find his enemy in distress, and should send him forth in a good way, then the Lord will reward him with good, as you have done this day.

20. నిశ్చయముగా నీవు రాజ వగుదువనియు, ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల రాజ్యము నీకు స్థిరపరచ బడుననియు నాకు తెలియును.

20. [ 24:21] And now, behold, I know that you shall surely reign, and the kingdom of Israel shall be established in your hand.

21. కాబట్టి నా తరువాత నా సంతతివారిని నీవు నిర్మూలము చేయకుండునట్లును, నా తండ్రి ఇంటిలోనుండి నా పేరు నీవు కొట్టివేయ కుండునట్లును యెహోవా నామమున నాకు ప్రమాణము చేయుము. అంతట దావీదు సౌలునకు ప్రమాణము చేసెను

21. [ 24:22] Now then swear to me by the Lord, that you will not destroy my seed after me, that you will not blot out my name from the house of my father.

22. అప్పుడు సౌలు ఇంటికి తిరిగి వచ్చెను; అయితే దావీదును అతని జనులును తమ కొండస్థలములకు వెళ్లి పోయిరి.

22. [ 24:23] So David swore to Saul. And Saul departed to his place, and David and his men went up to the stronghold of Messera.
