1. తరువాత ఫిలిష్తీయులు కెయీలామీద యుద్ధము చేసి కల్లములమీది ధాన్యమును దోచుకొనుచున్నారని దావీదునకు వినబడెను.

1. Then they tolde Dauid, saying: Beholde, the Philistines fight against Keila, and spoyle the barnes.

2. అంతట దావీదునేను వెళ్లి యీ ఫిలిష్తీయులను హతము చేయుదునా అని యెహోవా యొద్ద విచారణచేయగా యెహోవానీవు వెళ్లి ఫిలిష్తీ యులను హతముచేసి కెయీలాను రక్షించుమని దావీదునకు సెలవిచ్చెను.

2. Therfore Dauid asked counsell of the lord, saying: Shal I go and smyte these Philistines? And the Lord aunswered vnto Dauid: Go, and smite the Philistines, and saue Keila.

3. దావీదుతో కూడియున్న జనులుమేము ఇచ్చట యూదా దేశములో ఉండినను మాకు భయముగా నున్నది; ఫిలిష్తీయుల సైన్యములకెదురుగా కెయీలాకు మేము వచ్చినయెడల మరింత భయము కలుగును గదా అని దావీదుతో అనగా

3. And Dauids men said vnto him, See, we be afrayde here in Iuda: howe much more then if we come to Keila against the hoast of the Philistines?

4. దావీదు మరల యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారణ చేసెనునీవు లేచి కెయీలాకు వెళ్లుము, ఫిలిష్తీయులను నీ చేతికి అప్పగించుదునని యెహోవా సెలవియ్యగా

4. Then Dauid asked counsell of the Lorde agayne. And the Lorde aunswered him, and sayd: Aryse, and go downe to Keila, for I will deliuer the Philistines into thyne hande.

5. దావీదును అతని జనులును కెయీలాకు వచ్చి ఫిలిష్తీయులతో యుద్ధముచేసి వారిని లెస్సగా హతముచేసి వారి పశువులను దోచుకొనివచ్చిరి. ఈలాగున దావీదు కెయీలా కాపురస్థులను రక్షించెను.

5. And so Dauid and his men went to Keila, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattell, & smote them with a great slaughter, and so Dauid saued ye inhabitauntes of Keila.

6. అహీమెలెకు కుమారుడైన అబ్యాతారు ఏఫోదు చేత పట్టుకొని పారిపోయి కెయీలాలోనున్న దావీదునొద్దకు వచ్చెను.

6. And when Abiathar the sonne of Ahimelech fled to Dauid to Keila, he brought an Ephod with him in his hande.

7. దావీదు కెయీలాకు వచ్చిన సంగతి సౌలు విని దావీదు ద్వారములును అడ్డుగడలునుగల పట్టణములో ప్రవేశించి అందులో మూయబడి యున్నాడు, దేవుడతనిని నా చేతికి అప్పగించెనను కొనెను.

7. And it was tolde Saul that Dauid was come to Keila: And Saul sayde, God hath deliuered him into myne hande: For he is shut in, now that he is come into a towne that hath gates and barres.

8. కాబట్టి సౌలు కెయీలాకు పోయి దావీదును అతని జనులను ముట్టడింప వలెనని జనులందరిని యుద్ధమునకు పిలువనంపించెను.

8. And Saul called all the people together to warre, for to go downe to Keila, and to besiege Dauid and his men.

9. సౌలు తనకు కీడే యుద్దేశించుచున్నాడని దావీదు ఎరిగి యాజకుడైన అబ్యాతారును ఏఫోదును తెమ్మనెను.

9. And Dauid hauing knowledge that Saul imagined mischiefe agaynst him, sayde to Abiathar the priest: Bring the Ephod.

10. అప్పుడు దావీదుఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవా యెహోవా, సౌలు కెయీలాకు వచ్చి నన్నుబట్టి పట్టణమును పాడుచేయ నుద్దేశించుచున్నాడని నీ దాసుడనైన నాకురూఢిగా తెలియబడి యున్నది.

10. Then sayde Dauid: O Lorde God of Israel, thy seruaunt hath hearde that Saul is about to come to Keila to destroye the citie for my sake:

11. కెయీలా జనులు నన్ను అతని చేతికి అప్పగించుదురా? నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు వినబడినట్లు సౌలు దిగివచ్చునా? ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవా యెహోవా, దయచేసి నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు దానిని తెలియజేయుమని ప్రార్థింపగా అతడు దిగివచ్చునని యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చెను.

11. Will the lordes of Keila deliuer me into his hande? And will Saul come downe, as thy seruaunt hath hearde, O Lorde God of Israel: I besech thee tell thy seruaunt. And the Lorde sayde: He wil come downe.

12. కెయీలా జనులు నన్ను నా జనులను సౌలు చేతికి అప్పగించుదురా అని దావీదు మరల మనవి చేయగా యెహోవావారు నిన్ను అప్ప గించుదురని సెలవిచ్చెను.

12. Then sayde Dauid: Will the lordes of Keila deliuer me and the men that are with me into the hand of Saul? And the Lorde sayde: They wil deliuer thee vp.

13. అంతట దావీదును దాదాపు ఆరువందల మందియైన అతని జనులును లేచి కెయీలాలో నుండి తరలి, ఎక్కడికి పోగలరో అక్కడకు వెళ్లిరి. దావీదు కెయీలాలోనుండి తప్పించుకొనిన సంగతి సౌలు విని వెళ్లక మానెను.

13. Then Dauid, & his men, whiche were vpon a sixe hundred, arose and departed out of Keila, and went whyther they coulde: And it was tolde Saul that Dauid was fled from Keila, and he let the iourney alone.

14. అయితే దావీదు అరణ్యములోని కొండస్థలముల యందును, జీఫు అను అరణ్యమున ఒక పర్వతమందును నివాసము చేయుచుండెను; సౌలు అనుదినము అతని వెదకినను దేవుడు సౌలుచేతికి అతని నప్పగించలేదు.

14. Dauid abode in the wildernesse in strong holdes, and remained in a mountayne in the wildernesse of Ziph: And Saul sought him euery day, but God deliuered him not into his hande.

15. తన ప్రాణము తీయుటకై సౌలు బయలుదేరెనని తెలిసికొని దావీదు జీఫు అరణ్యములో ఒక వనమున దిగెను.

15. And Dauid sawe that Saul was come out to seke his lyfe: And Dauid was in the wildernesse of Ziph in the wood.

16. అప్పుడు సౌలు కుమారుడైన యోనాతాను లేచి, వనము లోనున్న దావీదునొద్దకు వచ్చినా తండ్రియైన సౌలు నిన్ను పట్టుకొనజాలడు, నీవు భయపడవద్దు,

16. And Ionathan Sauls sonne arose and went to Dauid into the wood, and comforted his hande in God,

17. నీవు ఇశ్రా యేలీయులకు రాజ వగుదువు, నేను నీకు సహకారినౌదును, ఇది నా తండ్రి యైన సౌలునకు తెలిసియున్నదని అతనితో చెప్పి దేవునిబట్టి అతని బలపరచెను.

17. And sayd vnto him: Feare not, for the hand of Saul my father shall not finde thee, & thou shalt be king ouer Israel, and I shall be next vnto thee: and that doeth Saul my father knowe.

18. వీరిద్దరు యెహోవా సన్నిధిని నిబంధన చేసికొనిన తరువాత దావీదు వనములో నిలిచెను, యోనాతాను తన యింటికి తిరిగి వెళ్లెను.

18. And they made a bond both of them together before the Lorde: And Dauid taried still in the wood, and Ionathan went to his house.

19. జీఫీయులు బయలుదేరి గిబియాలోనున్న సౌలునొద్దకు వచ్చియెషీమోనుకు దక్షిణమున నున్న హకీలామన్యము లోని అరణ్యమున కొండ స్థలములయందు మా మధ్య దావీదు దాగియున్నాడే.

19. Then came the Ziphites to Saul to Gibea, saying: Doth not Dauid hyde him selfe fast by vs in strong holdes, in the wood in the hill of Hachila, on the right side of Iesimon?

20. రాజా, నీ మనోభీష్టమంతటి చొప్పున దిగిరమ్ము; రాజవైన నీ చేతికి అతనిని అప్పగించుట మా పని అని చెప్పగా

20. Nowe therfore O king, thou mayest come downe according to all the lust of thy soule, and our part shalbe to deliuer him into the kinges hande.

21. సౌలు వారితో ఇట్లనెనుమీరు నాయందు కనికరపడినందుకై మీకు యెహోవా ఆశీర్వాదము కలుగును గాక.

21. And Saul sayde: Blessed are ye in the Lord, for ye haue compassion on me:

22. మీరు పోయి అతడు ఉండుస్థలము ఏదయినది, అతనిని చూచినవాడు ఎవడయినది నిశ్చయముగా తెలిసికొనుడి; అతడు బహు యుక్తిగా ప్రవర్తించుచున్నాడని నాకు వినబడెను గనుక

22. Go I pray you and prepare yet better, knowe and see where his foote hath ben, & who hath seene him there: for it is tolde me that he is very subtyll.

23. మీరు బహు జాగ్రత్తగా నుండి, అతడుండు మరుగు తావులను కని పెట్టియున్న సంగతియంత నాకు తెలియజేయుటకై మరల నాయొద్దకు తప్పక రండి, అప్పుడు నేను మీతో కూడా వత్తును, అతడు దేశములో ఎక్కడనుండినను యూదావారందరిలో నేను అతని వెదకి పట్టుకొందును.

23. See therfore, and know al the lurking places where he hydeth him selfe, and come ye againe to me with ye certaintie, and I wil go with you: And yf he be in the lande, I will searche him out throughout al the thousandes of Iuda.

24. అంతట వారు లేచి సౌలుకంటె ముందు జీఫునకు తిరిగి వెళ్లిరి. దావీదును అతని జనులును యెషీమోనుకు దక్షిణపు వైపుననున్న మైదానములోని మాయోను అరణ్యములో ఉండగా

24. And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: But Dauid & his men were in the wildernesse of Maon, in the plaine that is on the right hande of Iesimon.

25. సౌలును అతని జనులును తన్ను వెదకుటకై బయలుదేరిన మాట దావీదు విని, కొండ శిఖరము దిగి మాయోను అరణ్యమందు నివాసము చేసెను. సౌలు అది విని మాయోను అరణ్యములో దావీదును తరుమ బోయెను.

25. Saul also and his men went to seke him: And they told Dauid, wherfore he came downe vnto a rocke, and abode in the wildernesse of Maon: And when Saul heard that, he folowed after Dauid in the wildernesse of Maon.

26. అయితే సౌలు పర్వతము ఈ తట్టునను దావీదును అతని జనులును పర్వతము ఆ తట్టునను పోవుచుండగా దావీదు సౌలుదగ్గరనుండి తప్పించుకొని పోవలెనని త్వరపడుచుండెను. సౌలును అతని జనులును దావీదును అతని జనులను పట్టుకొనవలెనని వారిని చుట్టు కొనుచుండిరి.

26. And Saul and his men went on the one syde of the mountayne, and Dauid & his men on the other syde of the mountaine: And Dauid made haste to get fro the presence of Saul. For Saul and his men, compassed Dauid and his men round about, to take them.

27. ఇట్లుండగా దూత యొకడు సౌలునొద్దకు వచ్చినీవు త్వరగా రమ్ము, ఫిలిష్తీయులు దండెత్తి వచ్చి దేశములో చొరబడియున్నారని చెప్పగా

27. But ther came a messenger to Saul, saying: Haste thee and come, for the Philistines haue inuaded the lande.

28. సౌలు దావీదును తరుముట మాని వెనుకకు తిరిగి ఫిలిష్తీయులను ఎదుర్కొనబోయెను. కాబట్టి సెలహమ్మలెకోతు అని ఆ స్థలమునకు పేరు పెట్టబడెను.

28. Wherfore Saul returned from persecuting Dauid, and went against the Philistines: And therfore they called that place, Sela Hamnahlekoth.

29. తరువాత దావీదు అక్కడనుండి పోయి ఏన్గెదీకి వచ్చి కొండ స్థలములలో నివాసము చేయుచుండెను.

29. (23:28) And Dauid went thence, and dwelt in strong holdes at Engadi.
