1. దావీదు అక్కడనుండి బయలుదేరి అదుల్లాము గుహలోనికి తప్పించుకొనిపోగా అతని సహోదరులును అతని తండ్రి ఇంటివారందరును ఆ సంగతి విని అతని యొద్దకు వచ్చిరి.

1. David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam. When his brothers and the rest of his family heard about it, they came down to him there.

2. He was joined by all those who were in difficulties or in debt, or who were embittered, and he became their leader. About four hundred men were with him.

3. From there David went to Mizpeh of Moab and said to the king of Moab, 'Let my father and mother stay with you, until I learn what God will do for me.'

4. He left them with the king of Moab, and they stayed with him as long as David remained in the refuge.

5. But the prophet Gad said to David: 'Do not remain in the refuge. Leave, and go to the land of Judah.' And so David left and went to the forest of Hereth.

6. Now Saul heard that David and his men had been located. At the time he was sitting in Gibeah under a tamarisk tree on the high place, holding his spear, while all his servants were standing by.

7. సౌలు తనచుట్టు నిలిచియున్న సేవకులతో ఇట్లనెనుబెన్యామీనీయులారా ఆలకించుడి. యెష్షయి కుమారుడు మీకు పొలమును ద్రాక్షతోటలను ఇచ్చునా? మిమ్మును సహస్రాధిపతులుగాను శతాధిపతులు గాను చేయునా?

7. So he said to them: 'Listen, men of Benjamin! Will the son of Jesse give all of you fields and vineyards? Will he make each of you an officer over a thousand or a hundred men,

8. that you have all conspired against me and no one tells me that my son has made an agreement with the son of Jesse? None of you shows sympathy for me or discloses to me that my son has stirred up my servant to be an enemy against me, as is the case today.'

9. అప్పుడు ఎదోమీయుడగు దోయేగు సౌలు సేవకుల దగ్గర నిలిచి యుండియెష్షయి కుమారుడు పారిపోయి నోబులోని అహీటూబు కుమారుడైన అహీమెలెకు దగ్గరకురాగా నేను చూచితిని.

9. Then Doeg the Edomite, who was standing with the officers of Saul, spoke up: 'I saw the son of Jesse come to Ahimelech, son of Ahitub, in Nob.

10. అహీమెలెకు అతని పక్షముగా యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారణచేసి, ఆహారమును ఫిలిష్తీయుడైన గొల్యాతు ఖడ్గమును అతని కిచ్చెనని చెప్పగా

10. He consulted the LORD for him and gave him supplies, and the sword of Goliath the Philistine as well.'

11. రాజు యాజకుడును అహీ టూబు కుమారుడునగు అహీ మెలెకును నోబులోనున్న అతని తండ్రి యింటివారైన యాజకులనందరిని పిలు వనంపించెను. వారు రాజునొద్దకు రాగా

11. At this the king sent a summons to Ahimelech the priest, son of Ahitub, and to all his family who were priests in Nob; and they all came to the king.

12. సౌలు అహీటూబు కుమారుడా, ఆలకించు మనగా అతడు చిత్తము నా యేలినవాడా అనెను.

12. Then Saul said, 'Listen, son of Ahitub!' He replied, 'Yes, my lord.'

13. సౌలునీవు యెష్షయి కుమారునికి ఆహారమును ఖడ్గమును ఇచ్చి అతని పక్షమున దేవునియొద్ద విచారణచేసి, అతడు నామీదికి లేచి నేడు జరుగుచున్నట్టు పొంచి యుండుటకై అతడును నీవును జతకూడితిరేమని యడుగగా

13. Saul asked him, 'Why did you conspire against me with the son of Jesse by giving him food and a sword and by consulting God for him, that he might rebel against me and become my enemy, as is the case today?'

14. అహీమెలెకురాజా, రాజునకు అల్లుడై నమ్మకస్థుడై, ఆలోచనకర్తయై నీ నగరిలో ఘనతవహించిన దావీదువంటి వాడు నీ సేవకులందరిలో ఎవడున్నాడు?

14. Ahimelech answered the king: 'And who among all your servants is as loyal as David, the king's son-in-law, captain of your bodyguard, and honored in your own house?

15. అతని పక్షముగా నేను దేవునియొద్ద విచారణచేయుట నేడే ఆరం భించితినా? అది నాకు దూరమగునుగాక; రాజు తమ దాసుడనైన నామీదను నా తండ్రి ఇంటి వారందరిమీదను ఈ నేరము మోపకుండును గాక. ఈ సంగతినిగూర్చి కొద్ది గొప్ప యేమియు నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు తెలిసినది కాదు అని రాజుతో మనవిచేయగా

15. Is this the first time I have consulted God for him? No indeed! Let not the king accuse his servant or anyone in my family of such a thing. Your servant knows nothing at all, great or small, about the whole matter.'

16. రాజు అహీమెలెకూ, నీకును నీ తండ్రి ఇంటివారికందరికిని మరణము నిశ్చయము అని చెప్పి

16. But the king said, 'You shall die, Ahimelech, with all your family.'

17. యెహోవా యాజకులగు వీరు దావీదుతో కలిసినందునను, అతడు పారిపోయిన సంగతి తెలిసియు నాకు తెలియజేయక పోయినందునను మీరు వారిమీద పడి చంపుడని తనచుట్టు నిలిచియున్న కావలి వారికి ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను. రాజు సేవకులు యెహోవా యాజకులను హతము చేయనొల్లక యుండగా

17. The king then commanded his henchmen standing by: 'Make the rounds and kill the priests of the LORD, for they assisted David. They knew he was a fugitive and yet failed to inform me.' But the king's servants refused to lift a hand to strike the priests of the LORD.

18. రాజు దోయేగుతోనీవు ఈ యాజకులమీద పడుమని చెప్పెను. అప్పుడు ఎదోమీయుడైన దోయేగు యాజకులమీద పడిఏఫోదు ధరించుకొనిన యెనుబది యయిదుగురిని ఆదినమున హతముచేసెను.

18. The king therefore commanded Doeg, 'You make the rounds and kill the priests!' So Doeg the Edomite went from one to the next and killed the priests himself, slaying on that day eighty-five who wore the linen ephod.

19. మరియు అతడు యాజకుల పట్టణ మైన నోబు కాపురస్థులను కత్తివాత హతము చేసెను; మగ వారినేమి ఆడువారినేమి బాలురనేమి పసిపిల్లలనేమి యెడ్లనేమి గార్దభములనేమి గొఱ్ఱెలనేమి అన్ని టిని కత్తివాత హతముచేసెను.

19. Saul also put the priestly city of Nob to the sword, including men and women, children and infants, and oxen, asses and sheep.

20. అయితే అహీటూబు కుమారుడైన అహీమెలెకు కుమారులలో అబ్యాతారు అను నొకడు తప్పించుకొని పారిపోయి దావీదునొద్దకు వచ్చి

20. One son of Ahimelech, son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled to David.

21. సౌలు యెహోవా యాజకులను చంపించిన సంగతి దావీదునకు తెలియజేయగా

21. When Abiathar told David that Saul had slain the priests of the LORD,

22. దావీదుఆ దినమున ఎదోమీయుడైన దోయేగు అక్కడనున్నందున వాడు సౌలునకు నిశ్చయ ముగా సంగతి తెలుపునని నేననుకొంటిని; నీ తండ్రి యింటివారికందరికిని మరణము రప్పించుటకు నేను కారకుడ నైతిని గదా.

22. David said to him: 'I knew that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul. I am responsible for the death of all your family.

23. నీవు భయపడక నాయొద్ద ఉండుము, నా యొద్ద నీవు భద్రముగా ఉందువు; నా ప్రాణము తీయచూచు వాడును నీ ప్రాణము తీయచూచువాడును ఒకడే అని అబ్యాతారుతో చెప్పెను.

23. Stay with me. Fear nothing; he that seeks your life must seek my life also. You are under my protection.'
