1. అంతట సౌలుమీరు దావీదును చంపవలసినదని తన కుమారుడైన యోనాతానుతోను తన సేవకులందరితోను చెప్పగా

1. Then spake Saul unto Jonathan his son, and unto all his servants, that they should put David to death;

2. సౌలు కుమారుడైన యోనాతాను దావీదుయందు బహు ఇష్టముగలవాడైయుండి దావీదుతొఇట్లనెనునా తండ్రియైన సౌలు నిన్ను చంపవలెనన్న ప్రయత్నముమీదనున్నాడు. కాబట్టి నీవు ఉదయమున జాగ్రత్తపడి రహస్యమైన స్థలమందు దాగియుండుము.

2. but, Jonathan, Saul's son, delighted in David, exceedingly, so Jonathan told David, saying, Saul, my father, is seeking to put thee to death, now, therefore, take heed to thyself I pray thee, in the morning, and abide thou in concealment, and hide thyself;

3. నేను వచ్చి నీవు ఉన్న చేనిలో నా తండ్రియొద్ద నిలిచి నిన్నుగూర్చి అతనితో మాటలాడిన తరువాత నిన్నుగూర్చి నాకేమైన తెలిసిన యెడల దానిని నీతో తెలియజెప్పుదు ననెను.

3. and, I, will come out and stand beside my father, in the field where, thou, art, and, I, will speak of thee unto my father, and, if I see aught, I will tell thee.

4. యోనాతాను తన తండ్రియైన సౌలుతో దావీదును గూర్చి దయగా మాటలాడినీ సేవకుడైన దావీదు నీ విషయములో ఏ తప్పిదమును చేసినవాడు కాక బహు మేలుచేసెను గనుక, రాజా నీవు అతని విషయములో ఏ పాపము చేయకుందువుగాక.

4. So then Jonathan spake of David things that were good, unto Saul his father, and said unto him May the king not sin against his servant against David; for he hath not sinned against, thee, nay, indeed, his doings have been good to theeward exceedingly.

5. అతడు ప్రాణమునకు తెగించి ఆ ఫిలిష్తీయుని చంపగా యెహోవా ఇశ్రాయేలీ యుల కందరికి గొప్ప రక్షణ కలుగజేసెను; అది నీవే చూచి సంతోషించితివి గదా; నిష్కారణముగా దావీదును చంపి నిరపరాధియొక్క ప్రాణము తీసి నీవెందుకు పాపము చేయుదువని మనవి చేయగా

5. And, when he put his life in his hand, and smote the Philistine, and Yahweh wrought a great victory for all Israel, thou sawest, and didst rejoice. Wherefore, then, shouldst thou sin against innocent blood by putting David to death, without cause?

6. సౌలు యోనాతాను చెప్పిన మాట ఆలకించియెహోవా జీవముతోడు అతనికి మరణ శిక్ష విధింపనని ప్రమాణముచేసెను.

6. And Saul hearkened unto the voice of Jonathan, and Saul sware, By the life of Yahweh, he shall not be put to death!

7. అప్పుడు యోనాతాను దావీదును పిలుచుకొని పోయి ఆ సంగతులన్నియు అతనికి తెలియజేసి దావీదును సౌలునొద్దకు తీసికొనిరాగా దావీదు మునుపటిలాగున అతని సన్నిధిని ఉండెను.

7. And Jonathan called for David, and Jonathan told him all these things, and Jonathan brought in David unto Saul, and so he was in his presence, as aforetime.

8. తరువాత యుద్ధము సంభవించినప్పుడు దావీదు బయలుదేరి ఫిలిష్తీయులతో యుద్ధముచేసి వారిని ఓడించి వెనుకకు పారదోలి గొప్ప వధ చేయగా

8. But, when the war again brake out, and David went forth and fought with the Philistines, and smote them with a great smiting, and they fled before him,

9. యెహోవాయొద్దనుండి దురాత్మ సౌలుమీదికి వచ్చెను. సౌలు ఈటె చేత పట్టుకొని యింట కూర్చుండి యుండెను. దావీదు సితారా వాయించుచుండగా

9. then came there a sad spirit of Yahweh unto Saul, he being in his house, seated, with his spear in his hand, while, David, played with his hand,

10. సౌలు ఒకే దెబ్బతో దావీదును గోడకు పొడుచుదునన్న తాత్పర్యము గలిగి యీటె విసిరెను. దావీదు అతని యెదుటనుండి తప్పించుకొనినందున ఈటె గోడకు నాటగా దావీదు ఆ రాత్రియందు తప్పించుకొని పారిపోయెను.

10. Saul sought to smite David with the spear, even to the wall, but he slipped away from before Saul, who smote the spear into the wall, whereas, David, fled and escaped, that night.

11. ఉదయమున అతని చంపవలెనని పొంచియుండి దావీదును పట్టుకొనుటకై సౌలు అతని యింటికి దూతలను పంపగా దావీదు భార్యయైన మీకాలుఈ రాత్రి నీ ప్రాణమును నీవు దక్కించుకొంటేనే గాని రేపు నీవు చంపబడుదువని చెప్పి

11. And Saul sent messengers unto David's house, to watch him, and to put him to death, in the morning! And Michal his wife told David, saying, If thou do not deliver thyself to-night, to-morrow, art thou to be put to death.

12. కిటికీగుండ దావీదును దింపగా అతడు తప్పించుకొని పారిపోయెను.

12. So Michal let down David, through the window, and he departed and fled, and escaped.

13. తరువాత మీకాలు ఒక గృహదేవత బొమ్మను తీసి మంచము మీద పెట్టి మేకబొచ్చు తలవైపున ఉంచి దుప్పటితో కప్పివేసి

13. And Michal took the household god, and put it in the bed, and, a fly-net of goats-hair, put she at its head, and covered it with the clothes.

14. సౌలు దావీదును పట్టుకొనుటకై దూతలను పంపగా అతడు రోగియై యున్నాడని చెప్పెను.

14. And, when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said He is, sick.

15. దావీదును చూచుటకు సౌలు దూతలను పంపినేను అతని చంపునట్లుగా మంచముతో అతని తీసికొని రండని వారితో చెప్పగా

15. So Saul sent messengers to see David, saying, Bring him up in the bed unto me, that I may put him to death.

16. ఆ దూతలు వచ్చి లోపల చొచ్చి చూచినప్పుడు తలతట్టున మేకబొచ్చుగల యొకటి మంచము మీద కనబడెను.

16. And, when the messengers entered, lo! the household god in the bed, with a fly-net of goats-hair at its head.

17. అప్పుడు సౌలుతప్పించుకొని పోవు నట్లుగా నీవు నా శత్రువుని పంపివేసి నన్నీలాగున ఎందుకు మోసపుచ్చితివని మీకాలు నడుగగా మీకాలునెనెందుకు నిన్ను చంపవలెను? నన్ను పోనిమ్మని దావీదు తనతో చెప్పినందుకని సౌలుతో అనెను.

17. And Saul said unto Michal Wherefore, in this way, hast thou deceived me, and let go mine enemy, that he hath escaped? Then said Michal unto Saul, He, himself, said unto me Let me go, wherefore should I put thee to death?

18. ఆలాగున దావీదు తప్పించుకొని పారిపోయి రామాలో నున్న సమూయేలునొద్దకు వచ్చి సౌలు తనకు చేసినది అంతటిని అతనికి తెలియజేయగా అతడును సమూయేలును బయలుదేరి నాయోతుకు వచ్చి అచట కాపురముండిరి.

18. So, David, fled, and escaped, and came in unto Samuel in Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him, and he and Samuel departed, and dwelt in Naioth.

19. దావీదు రామాదగ్గర నాయోతులో ఉన్నాడని సౌలునకు వర్తమానము రాగా

19. And it was told Saul, saying, Lo! David, is in Naioth, in Ramah.

20. దావీదును పట్టుకొనుటకై సౌలు దూతలను పంపెను; వీరు వచ్చి ప్రవక్తలు సమాజముగా కూడుకొని ప్రకటించుటయు, సమూయేలు వారిమీద నాయకుడుగా నిలుచుటయు చూడగా దేవుని ఆత్మ సౌలు పంపిన దూతలమీదికి వచ్చెను గనుక వారును ప్రకటింప నారంభించిరి.

20. So Saul sent messengers to take David, but, when they saw the assembly of prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as head over them, then came the Spirit of God upon the messengers of Saul, and, they also, were, moved to prophesy.

21. ఈ సంగతి సౌలునకు వినబడినప్పుడు అతడు వేరు దూతలను పంపెను గాని వారును అటువలెనే ప్రకటించుచుండిరి. సౌలు మూడవసారి దూతలను పంపెను గాని వారును ప్రకటించుచుండిరి.

21. And, when they told Saul, and he sent other messengers, then were, they also, moved to prophesy. And, when Saul again sent messengers a third time, then were, they also, moved to prophesy.

22. కడవరిసారి తానే రామాకు పోయి సేఖూ దగ్గరనున్న గొప్ప బావియొద్దకు వచ్చిసమూయేలును దావీదును ఎక్కడ ఉన్నారని అడుగగా ఒకడురామా దగ్గర నాయోతులో వారున్నా రని చెప్పెను.

22. Then went, he also himself, to Ramah, and came in as far as the well of the threshing-floor which is in Sephi, and asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And one said Lo! in Naioth, in Ramah.

23. అతడు రామా దగ్గరనున్న నాయోతునకు రాగా దేవుని ఆత్మ అతని మీదికి వచ్చెను గనుక అతడు ప్రయాణము చేయుచు రామాదగ్గరనున్న నాయోతునకు వచ్చువరకు ప్రకటించుచుండెను,

23. And, when he departed from thence towards Naioth in Ramah, then came upon, him also, the Spirit of God, and he went on and on, and was moved to prophesy, until he entered Naioth in Ramah.

24. మరియు అతడు తన వస్త్రములను తీసివేసి ఆ నాటి రాత్రింబగళ్లు సమూయేలు ఎదుటనే ప్రకటించుచు, పైబట్టలేనివాడై పడియుండెను. అందు వలన సౌలును ప్రవక్తలలోనున్నాడా అను సామెత పుట్టెను.

24. And, even he, stripped off his upper garments, and, even he, was moved to prophesy before Samuel, and lay prostrate, disrobed, all that day, and all the night. For this cause, do they say, Is, even Saul, among the prophets?
