1. అంతట సౌలుమీరు దావీదును చంపవలసినదని తన కుమారుడైన యోనాతానుతోను తన సేవకులందరితోను చెప్పగా

1. Then Saul spake to Ionathan his sonne, and to all his seruantes, that they shoulde kill Dauid: but Ionathan Sauls sonne had a great fauour to Dauid.

2. సౌలు కుమారుడైన యోనాతాను దావీదుయందు బహు ఇష్టముగలవాడైయుండి దావీదుతొఇట్లనెనునా తండ్రియైన సౌలు నిన్ను చంపవలెనన్న ప్రయత్నముమీదనున్నాడు. కాబట్టి నీవు ఉదయమున జాగ్రత్తపడి రహస్యమైన స్థలమందు దాగియుండుము.

2. And Ionathan told Dauid, saying, Saul my father goeth about to slay thee: nowe therefore, I pray thee, take heede vnto thy selfe vnto the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thy selfe.

3. నేను వచ్చి నీవు ఉన్న చేనిలో నా తండ్రియొద్ద నిలిచి నిన్నుగూర్చి అతనితో మాటలాడిన తరువాత నిన్నుగూర్చి నాకేమైన తెలిసిన యెడల దానిని నీతో తెలియజెప్పుదు ననెను.

3. And I will go out, and stand by my father in the fielde where thou art, and will commune with my father of thee, and I will see what he sayth, and will tell thee.

4. యోనాతాను తన తండ్రియైన సౌలుతో దావీదును గూర్చి దయగా మాటలాడినీ సేవకుడైన దావీదు నీ విషయములో ఏ తప్పిదమును చేసినవాడు కాక బహు మేలుచేసెను గనుక, రాజా నీవు అతని విషయములో ఏ పాపము చేయకుందువుగాక.

4. And Ionathan spake good of Dauid vnto Saul his father, and said vnto him, Let not the King sinne against his seruat, against Dauid: for he hath not sinned against thee, but his works haue bene to thee very good.

5. అతడు ప్రాణమునకు తెగించి ఆ ఫిలిష్తీయుని చంపగా యెహోవా ఇశ్రాయేలీ యుల కందరికి గొప్ప రక్షణ కలుగజేసెను; అది నీవే చూచి సంతోషించితివి గదా; నిష్కారణముగా దావీదును చంపి నిరపరాధియొక్క ప్రాణము తీసి నీవెందుకు పాపము చేయుదువని మనవి చేయగా

5. For he did put his life in daunger, and slew the Philistim, and the Lord wrought a great saluation for al Israel: thou sawest it, and thou reioycedst: wherefore then wilt thou sinne against innocent blood, and slay Dauid without a cause?

6. సౌలు యోనాతాను చెప్పిన మాట ఆలకించియెహోవా జీవముతోడు అతనికి మరణ శిక్ష విధింపనని ప్రమాణముచేసెను.

6. Then Saul hearkened vnto the voyce of Ionathan, and Saul sware, As the Lord liueth, he shall not dye.

7. అప్పుడు యోనాతాను దావీదును పిలుచుకొని పోయి ఆ సంగతులన్నియు అతనికి తెలియజేసి దావీదును సౌలునొద్దకు తీసికొనిరాగా దావీదు మునుపటిలాగున అతని సన్నిధిని ఉండెను.

7. So Ionathan called Dauid, and Ionathan shewed him all those words, and Ionathan brought Dauid to Saul, and hee was in his presence as in times past.

8. తరువాత యుద్ధము సంభవించినప్పుడు దావీదు బయలుదేరి ఫిలిష్తీయులతో యుద్ధముచేసి వారిని ఓడించి వెనుకకు పారదోలి గొప్ప వధ చేయగా

8. Againe the warre began, and Dauid went out and fought with the Philistims, and slew them with a great slaughter, and they fled from him.

9. యెహోవాయొద్దనుండి దురాత్మ సౌలుమీదికి వచ్చెను. సౌలు ఈటె చేత పట్టుకొని యింట కూర్చుండి యుండెను. దావీదు సితారా వాయించుచుండగా

9. And the euill spirit of the Lord was vpon Saul, as hee sate in his house hauing his speare in his hand, and Dauid played with his hand.

10. సౌలు ఒకే దెబ్బతో దావీదును గోడకు పొడుచుదునన్న తాత్పర్యము గలిగి యీటె విసిరెను. దావీదు అతని యెదుటనుండి తప్పించుకొనినందున ఈటె గోడకు నాటగా దావీదు ఆ రాత్రియందు తప్పించుకొని పారిపోయెను.

10. And Saul intended to smite Dauid to the wall with the speare: but hee turned aside out of Sauls presence, and he smote the speare against the wall: but Dauid fled, and escaped the same night.

11. ఉదయమున అతని చంపవలెనని పొంచియుండి దావీదును పట్టుకొనుటకై సౌలు అతని యింటికి దూతలను పంపగా దావీదు భార్యయైన మీకాలుఈ రాత్రి నీ ప్రాణమును నీవు దక్కించుకొంటేనే గాని రేపు నీవు చంపబడుదువని చెప్పి

11. Saul also sent messengers vnto Dauids house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal Dauids wife told it him, saying, If thou saue not thy selfe this night, to morowe thou shalt be slayne.

12. కిటికీగుండ దావీదును దింపగా అతడు తప్పించుకొని పారిపోయెను.

12. So Michal let Dauid downe through a window: and he went, and fled, and escaped.

13. తరువాత మీకాలు ఒక గృహదేవత బొమ్మను తీసి మంచము మీద పెట్టి మేకబొచ్చు తలవైపున ఉంచి దుప్పటితో కప్పివేసి

13. Then Michal tooke an image, and layde it in the bed, and put a pillow stuffed with goates heare vnder the head of it, and couered it with a cloth.

14. సౌలు దావీదును పట్టుకొనుటకై దూతలను పంపగా అతడు రోగియై యున్నాడని చెప్పెను.

14. And when Saul sent messengers to take Dauid, she sayd, He is sicke.

15. దావీదును చూచుటకు సౌలు దూతలను పంపినేను అతని చంపునట్లుగా మంచముతో అతని తీసికొని రండని వారితో చెప్పగా

15. And Saul sent the messengers againe to see Dauid, saying, Bring him to me in the bed, that I may slay him.

16. ఆ దూతలు వచ్చి లోపల చొచ్చి చూచినప్పుడు తలతట్టున మేకబొచ్చుగల యొకటి మంచము మీద కనబడెను.

16. And when the messengers were come in, behold, an image was in the bed, with a pillow of goates heare vnder the head of it.

17. అప్పుడు సౌలుతప్పించుకొని పోవు నట్లుగా నీవు నా శత్రువుని పంపివేసి నన్నీలాగున ఎందుకు మోసపుచ్చితివని మీకాలు నడుగగా మీకాలునెనెందుకు నిన్ను చంపవలెను? నన్ను పోనిమ్మని దావీదు తనతో చెప్పినందుకని సౌలుతో అనెను.

17. And Saul said vnto Michal, Why hast thou mocked me so, and sent away mine enemie, that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said vnto me, Let me go, or els I will kill thee.

18. ఆలాగున దావీదు తప్పించుకొని పారిపోయి రామాలో నున్న సమూయేలునొద్దకు వచ్చి సౌలు తనకు చేసినది అంతటిని అతనికి తెలియజేయగా అతడును సమూయేలును బయలుదేరి నాయోతుకు వచ్చి అచట కాపురముండిరి.

18. So Dauid fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him: and he and Samuel went and dwelt in Naioth.

19. దావీదు రామాదగ్గర నాయోతులో ఉన్నాడని సౌలునకు వర్తమానము రాగా

19. But one tolde Saul, saying, Beholde, Dauid is at Naioth in Ramah.

20. దావీదును పట్టుకొనుటకై సౌలు దూతలను పంపెను; వీరు వచ్చి ప్రవక్తలు సమాజముగా కూడుకొని ప్రకటించుటయు, సమూయేలు వారిమీద నాయకుడుగా నిలుచుటయు చూడగా దేవుని ఆత్మ సౌలు పంపిన దూతలమీదికి వచ్చెను గనుక వారును ప్రకటింప నారంభించిరి.

20. And Saul sent messengers to take Dauid: and when they sawe a company of Prophets prophecying, and Samuel standing as appoynted ouer them, the Spirit of God fell vpon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophecied.

21. ఈ సంగతి సౌలునకు వినబడినప్పుడు అతడు వేరు దూతలను పంపెను గాని వారును అటువలెనే ప్రకటించుచుండిరి. సౌలు మూడవసారి దూతలను పంపెను గాని వారును ప్రకటించుచుండిరి.

21. And when it was tolde Saul, he sent other messengers, and they prophecied likewise: againe Saul sent the third messengers, and they prophecied also.

22. కడవరిసారి తానే రామాకు పోయి సేఖూ దగ్గరనున్న గొప్ప బావియొద్దకు వచ్చిసమూయేలును దావీదును ఎక్కడ ఉన్నారని అడుగగా ఒకడురామా దగ్గర నాయోతులో వారున్నా రని చెప్పెను.

22. Then went he himselfe to Ramah, and came to a great well that is in Sechu, and he asked, and sayd, Where are Samuel and Dauid? and one sayd, Behold, they be at Naioth in Ramah.

23. అతడు రామా దగ్గరనున్న నాయోతునకు రాగా దేవుని ఆత్మ అతని మీదికి వచ్చెను గనుక అతడు ప్రయాణము చేయుచు రామాదగ్గరనున్న నాయోతునకు వచ్చువరకు ప్రకటించుచుండెను,

23. And he went thither, euen to Naioth in Ramah, and the Spirit of God came vpon him also, and he went prophecying vntill hee came to Naioth in Ramah.

24. మరియు అతడు తన వస్త్రములను తీసివేసి ఆ నాటి రాత్రింబగళ్లు సమూయేలు ఎదుటనే ప్రకటించుచు, పైబట్టలేనివాడై పడియుండెను. అందు వలన సౌలును ప్రవక్తలలోనున్నాడా అను సామెత పుట్టెను.

24. And he stript off his clothes, and he prophesied also before Samuel, and fell downe naked all that day and all that night: therefore they say, Is Saul also among the Prophets?
