1. అమ్మోనీయుడైన నాహాషు బయలుదేరి యాబేష్గిలాదు కెదురుగా దిగినప్పుడు యాబేషు వారందరుమేము నీకు సేవచేయుదుము, మాతో నిబంధనచేయుమని నాహాషుతో అనిరి

1. And it came to pass about a month after this, that Nahash the Ammonite went up, and encamped against Jabesh Gilead. And all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash the Ammonite, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve you.

2. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరి మీదికి నింద తెచ్చునట్లు మీయందరి కుడికన్నులను ఊడదీయుదునని మీతో నేను నిబంధన చేసెదనని అమ్మోనీయుడైన నాహాషు

2. And Nahash the Ammonite said to them, On these terms will I make a covenant with you, that I will put out all your right eyes, and I will lay a reproach upon Israel.

3. యాబేషు వారి పెద్దలతో చెప్పగా వారుమేము ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల సరిహద్దు లన్నిటికి దూతలను పంపుటకై యేడు దినముల గడువు మాకిమ్ము; మమ్మును రక్షించుటకు ఎవరును లేక పోయిన యెడల మమ్మును మేము నీకప్పగించుకొనెద మనిరి.

3. And the men of Jabesh say to him, Allow us seven days, and we will send messengers into all the coasts of Israel. If there should be no one to deliver us, we will come out to you.

4. దూతలు సౌలు గిబియాకు వచ్చి జనులకు ఆ వర్త మానము తెలియజెప్పగా జనులందరు బిగ్గరగా ఏడ్చిరి.

4. And the messengers came to Gibeah to Saul, and they spoke the words into the ears of the people; and all the people lifted up their voice, and wept.

5. సౌలు పొలమునుండి పశువులను తోలుకొని వచ్చుచుజనులు ఏడ్చుటకు హేతువేమని అడుగగా వారు యాబేషువారు తెచ్చిన వర్తమానము అతనికి తెలియజేసిరి.

5. And behold, Saul came out of the field after the early morning. And Saul said, Why do the people weep? And they told him the words of the men of Jabesh.

6. సౌలు ఆ వర్తమానము వినగానే దేవుని ఆత్మ అతనిమీదికి బలముగా వచ్చెను. అతడు అత్యాగ్రహుడై

6. And the Spirit of the Lord came upon Saul when he heard these words, and his anger was greatly kindled against them.

7. ఒక కాడి ఎడ్లను తీసి తునకలుగా చేసి ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేశములోని నలుదిక్కులకు దూతలచేత వాటిని పంపిసౌలుతోను సమూయేలుతోను చేరకుండువాడెవడో వాని ఎడ్లను నేను ఈ ప్రకారముగా చేయుదునని వర్తమానము చేసెను. అందువలన యెహోవా భయము జనులమీదికి వచ్చెను గనుక యొకడైనను నిలువకుండ వారందరు వచ్చిరి.

7. And he took two cows, and cut them in pieces, and sent them into all the coasts of Israel by the hand of messengers, saying, Whosoever does not come forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall they do to his oxen. And a transport from the Lord came upon the people of Israel, and they came out to battle as one man.

8. అతడు బెజెకులో వారిని లెక్క పెట్టగా ఇశ్రాయేలువారు మూడు లక్షలమందియు యూదావారు ముప్పదివేల మందియు అయిరి.

8. And he reviewed them at Bezek in Bama, every man of Israel six hundred thousand, and the men of Judah seventy thousand.

9. అప్పుడురేపు మధ్యాహ్నములోగా మీకు రక్షణ కలుగునని యాబేష్గిలాదు వారితో చెప్పుడని వచ్చిన దూతలతో ఆజ్ఞనిచ్చి వారిని పంపివేసెను. దూతలు పోయి యాబేషువారికి ఆ వర్తమానము తెలుపగా వారు సంతోషపడిరి.

9. And he said to the messengers that came, Thus shall you say to the men of Jabesh, Tomorrow you shall have deliverance when the sun is hot. And the messengers came to the city, and told the men of Jabesh, and they rejoiced.

10. కాబట్టి యాబేషువారు నాహాషు యొక్క దూతలతో ఇట్లనిరిరేపు మేము బయలుదేరి మమ్మును అప్పగించుకొందుము, అప్పుడు మీ దృష్టికి ఏది అనుకూలమో అది మాకు చేయవచ్చును.

10. And the men of Jabesh said to Nahash the Ammonite, Tomorrow we will come forth to you, and you shall do to us what seems good in your sight.

11. మరునాడు సౌలు జనులను మూడు సమూహములుగా చేసిన తరువాత వారు తెల్లవారు సమయమున దండుమధ్యను జొచ్చి మధ్యాహ్నములోగా అమ్మోనీయులను హతముచేయగా వారిలో మిగిలినవారు ఇద్దరేసికూడి పోజాలకుండ చెదరిపోయిరి.

11. And it came to pass on the next day, that Saul divided the people into three companies, and they went into the midst of the camp in the morning watch, and they killed the children of Ammon until the heat of the day. And it came to pass that those who were left were scattered, and there was not left two together among them.

12. జనులుసౌలు మనలను ఏలునా అని అడిగిన వారేరి? మేము వారిని చంపునట్లు ఆ మనుష్యులను తెప్పించుడని సమూయేలుతో అనగా

12. And the people said to Samuel, Who has said that Saul shall not reign over us? Give up the men, and we will put them to death.

13. సౌలునేడు యెహోవా ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు రక్షణ కలుగజేసెను గనుక ఈ దినమున ఏ మనుష్యుని మీరు చంపవద్దనెను.

13. And Saul said, No man shall die this day, for today the Lord has wrought deliverance in Israel.

14. మనము గిల్గాలునకు వెళ్లి రాజ్యపరిపాలన పద్ధతిని మరల స్థాపించుకొందము రండని చెప్పి సమూయేలు జనులను పిలువగా

14. And Samuel spoke to the people, saying, Let us go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there.

15. జనులందరు గిల్గాలునకు వచ్చి గిల్గాలులో యెహోవా సన్నిధిని సమాధానబలులను అర్పించి, యెహోవా సన్నిధిని సౌలునకు పట్టాభిషేకము చేసిరి. సౌలును ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరును అక్కడ బహుగా సంతోషించిరి.

15. And all the people went to Gilgal, and Samuel anointed Saul there to be king before the Lord in Gilgal, and there he offered grain offerings and peace offerings before the Lord. And Samuel and all Israel rejoiced exceedingly.
