1. అమ్మోనీయుడైన నాహాషు బయలుదేరి యాబేష్గిలాదు కెదురుగా దిగినప్పుడు యాబేషు వారందరుమేము నీకు సేవచేయుదుము, మాతో నిబంధనచేయుమని నాహాషుతో అనిరి

1. Then Nachash the `Ammonite came up, and encamped against Yavesh-Gil`ad: and all the men of Yavesh said to Nachash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve you.

2. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరి మీదికి నింద తెచ్చునట్లు మీయందరి కుడికన్నులను ఊడదీయుదునని మీతో నేను నిబంధన చేసెదనని అమ్మోనీయుడైన నాహాషు

2. Nachash the `Ammonite said to them, On this condition will I make it with you, that all your right eyes be put out; and I will lay it for a reproach on all Yisra'el.

3. యాబేషు వారి పెద్దలతో చెప్పగా వారుమేము ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల సరిహద్దు లన్నిటికి దూతలను పంపుటకై యేడు దినముల గడువు మాకిమ్ము; మమ్మును రక్షించుటకు ఎవరును లేక పోయిన యెడల మమ్మును మేము నీకప్పగించుకొనెద మనిరి.

3. The Zakenim of Yavesh said to him, Give us seven days' respite, that we may send messengers to all the borders of Yisra'el; and then, if there be none to save us, we will come out to you.

4. దూతలు సౌలు గిబియాకు వచ్చి జనులకు ఆ వర్త మానము తెలియజెప్పగా జనులందరు బిగ్గరగా ఏడ్చిరి.

4. Then came the messengers to Gevah of Sha'ul, and spoke these words in the ears of the people: and all the people lifted up their voice, and wept.

5. సౌలు పొలమునుండి పశువులను తోలుకొని వచ్చుచుజనులు ఏడ్చుటకు హేతువేమని అడుగగా వారు యాబేషువారు తెచ్చిన వర్తమానము అతనికి తెలియజేసిరి.

5. Behold, Sha'ul came following the oxen out of the field; and Sha'ul said, What ails the people that they weep? They told him the words of the men of Yavesh.

6. సౌలు ఆ వర్తమానము వినగానే దేవుని ఆత్మ అతనిమీదికి బలముగా వచ్చెను. అతడు అత్యాగ్రహుడై

6. The Spirit of God came mightily on Sha'ul when he heard those words, and his anger was kindled greatly.

7. ఒక కాడి ఎడ్లను తీసి తునకలుగా చేసి ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేశములోని నలుదిక్కులకు దూతలచేత వాటిని పంపిసౌలుతోను సమూయేలుతోను చేరకుండువాడెవడో వాని ఎడ్లను నేను ఈ ప్రకారముగా చేయుదునని వర్తమానము చేసెను. అందువలన యెహోవా భయము జనులమీదికి వచ్చెను గనుక యొకడైనను నిలువకుండ వారందరు వచ్చిరి.

7. He took a yoke of oxen, and cut them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the borders of Yisra'el by the hand of messengers, saying, Whoever doesn't come forth after Sha'ul and after Shemu'el, so shall it be done to his oxen. The dread of the LORD fell on the people, and they came out as one man.

8. అతడు బెజెకులో వారిని లెక్క పెట్టగా ఇశ్రాయేలువారు మూడు లక్షలమందియు యూదావారు ముప్పదివేల మందియు అయిరి.

8. He numbered them in Bezek; and the children of Yisra'el were three hundred thousand, and the men of Yehudah thirty thousand.

9. అప్పుడురేపు మధ్యాహ్నములోగా మీకు రక్షణ కలుగునని యాబేష్గిలాదు వారితో చెప్పుడని వచ్చిన దూతలతో ఆజ్ఞనిచ్చి వారిని పంపివేసెను. దూతలు పోయి యాబేషువారికి ఆ వర్తమానము తెలుపగా వారు సంతోషపడిరి.

9. They said to the messengers who came, Thus shall you tell the men of Yavesh-Gil`ad, Tomorrow, by the time the sun is hot, you shall have deliverance. The messengers came and told the men of Yavesh; and they were glad.

10. కాబట్టి యాబేషువారు నాహాషు యొక్క దూతలతో ఇట్లనిరిరేపు మేము బయలుదేరి మమ్మును అప్పగించుకొందుము, అప్పుడు మీ దృష్టికి ఏది అనుకూలమో అది మాకు చేయవచ్చును.

10. Therefore the men of Yavesh said, Tomorrow we will come out to you, and you shall do with us all that seems good to you.

11. మరునాడు సౌలు జనులను మూడు సమూహములుగా చేసిన తరువాత వారు తెల్లవారు సమయమున దండుమధ్యను జొచ్చి మధ్యాహ్నములోగా అమ్మోనీయులను హతముచేయగా వారిలో మిగిలినవారు ఇద్దరేసికూడి పోజాలకుండ చెదరిపోయిరి.

11. It was so on the next day, that Sha'ul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the camp in the morning watch, and struck the `Ammonim until the heat of the day: and it happened, that those who remained were scattered, so that no two of them were left together.

12. జనులుసౌలు మనలను ఏలునా అని అడిగిన వారేరి? మేము వారిని చంపునట్లు ఆ మనుష్యులను తెప్పించుడని సమూయేలుతో అనగా

12. The people said to Shemu'el, Who is he who said, Shall Sha'ul reign over us? bring the men, that we may put them to death.

13. సౌలునేడు యెహోవా ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు రక్షణ కలుగజేసెను గనుక ఈ దినమున ఏ మనుష్యుని మీరు చంపవద్దనెను.

13. Sha'ul said, There shall not a man be put to death this day; for today the LORD has worked deliverance in Yisra'el.

14. మనము గిల్గాలునకు వెళ్లి రాజ్యపరిపాలన పద్ధతిని మరల స్థాపించుకొందము రండని చెప్పి సమూయేలు జనులను పిలువగా

14. Then said Shemu'el to the people, Come, and let us go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there.

15. జనులందరు గిల్గాలునకు వచ్చి గిల్గాలులో యెహోవా సన్నిధిని సమాధానబలులను అర్పించి, యెహోవా సన్నిధిని సౌలునకు పట్టాభిషేకము చేసిరి. సౌలును ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరును అక్కడ బహుగా సంతోషించిరి.

15. All the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Sha'ul king before the LORD in Gilgal; and there they offered sacrifices of peace-offerings before the LORD; and there Sha'ul and all the men of Yisra'el rejoiced greatly.
