1. అప్పుడు సమూయేలు తైలపు బుడ్డి పట్టుకొని సౌలు తలమీద తైలముపోసి అతని ముద్దు పెట్టుకొనియెహోవా నిన్ను అభిషేకించి తన స్వాస్థ్యముమీద అధిపతిగా నియమించియున్నాడు అని చెప్పి యీలాగు సెలవిచ్చెను

1. Then Sh'mu'el took a flask of oil he had prepared and poured it on Sha'ul's head. He kissed him and said, 'ADONAI has anointed you to be prince over his inheritance.

2. ఈ దినమున నీవు నా యొద్దనుండి పోయిన తరువాత బెన్యామీను సరిహద్దులో సెల్సహులోనుండు రాహేలు సమాధిదగ్గర ఇద్దరు మనుష్యులు నీకు కనబడు దురు. వారునీవు వెదకబోయిన గార్దభములు దొరికినవి, నీ తండ్రి తన గార్దభములకొరకు చింతింపక నా కుమా రుని కనుగొనుటకై నేనేమి చేతునని నీకొరకు విచారపడు చున్నాడని చెప్పుదురు.

2. After you leave me today, you will find two men by Rachel's Tomb, in the territory of Binyamin at Tzeltzah. They will tell you that the donkeys you were searching for have been found, and that your father has stopped thinking about the donkeys and is anxious over you and asking, 'What am I to do about my son?''

3. తరువాత నీవు అక్కడనుండి వెళ్లి తాబోరు మైదానమునకు రాగానే అక్కడ బేతేలునకు దేవునియొద్దకు పోవు ముగ్గురు మనుష్యులు నీకు ఎదురుపడుదురు; ఒకడు మూడు మేకపిల్లలను, ఒకడు మూడు రొట్టెలను, ఇంకొకడు ద్రాక్షారసపు తిత్తిని మోయుచు వత్తురు.

3. Go on from there, and you will come to the Oak of Tavor. Three men will meet you there on their way up to God at Beit-El. One of them will be carrying three kids, another three loaves of bread and the third a skin of wine.

4. వారు నిన్ను కుశలప్రశ్నలడిగి నీకు రెండు రొట్టెలు ఇత్తురు. అవి వారిచేత నీవు తీసి కొనవలెను.

4. They will greet you and give you two loaves of bread, which you are to accept from them.

5. ఈలాగున పోవుచు ఫిలిష్తీయుల దండు కాపువారుండు దేవుని కొండకు చేరుదువు, అచ్చట ఊరిదగ్గరకు నీవు రాగానే, స్వరమండలము తంబుర సన్నాయి సితారా వాయించువారి వెనుక ఉన్నతమైన స్థలమునుండి దిగివచ్చు ప్రవక్తల సమూహము నీకు కనబడును, వారు ప్రకటనచేయుచు వత్తురు;

5. After that, you will come to Giv'ah of God, where the P'lishtim are garrisoned. On arrival at the city there, you will meet a group of prophets coming down from the high place, preceded by lutes, tambourines, flutes and lyres; and they will be prophesying.

6. యెహోవా ఆత్మ నీమీదికి బలముగా దిగివచ్చును; నీవు వారితో కలిసి ప్రకటన చేయుచుండగా నీకు క్రొత్త మనస్సువచ్చును.

6. Then the Spirit of ADONAI will fall on you; you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man!

7. దెవుడు తోడుగా నుండును గనుక ఈ సూచనలు నీకు సంభవించిన తరువాత నీకు మంచిదని తోచినదాని చేయుము.

7. When these signs come over you, just do whatever you feel like doing, because God is with you.

8. నాకంటె ముందు నీవు గిల్గాలునకు వెళ్లగా, దహనబలులను బలులను సమాధాన బలులను అర్పించుటకై నేను నీయొద్దకు దిగి వత్తును; నేను నీయొద్దకు వచ్చి నీవు చేయవలసినదానిని నీకు తెలియజేయువరకు ఏడు దినముల పాటు నీవు అచ్చట నిలువవలెను.

8. Then you are to go down ahead of me to Gilgal, and there I will come down to you to offer burnt offerings and present sacrifices as peace offerings. Wait there seven days, until I come to you and tell you what to do.'

9. అతడు సమూ యేలునొద్దనుండి వెళ్లిపోవుటకై తిరుగగా దేవుడు అతనికి క్రొత్త మనస్సు అనుగ్రహించెను. ఆ దినముననే ఆ సూచనలు కనబడెను.

9. As it happened, as soon as he had turned his back to leave Sh'mu'el, God gave him another heart; and all those signs took place that day.

10. వారు ఆ కొండదగ్గరకు వచ్చినప్పుడు ప్రవక్తల సమూ హము అతనికి ఎదురుపడగా దేవుని ఆత్మ బలముగా అతని మీదికి వచ్చెను. అతడు వారి మధ్యను ఉండి ప్రకటన చేయుచుండెను.

10. When they arrived at the hill, and there in front of him was a group of prophets, the Spirit of God fell on him and he prophesied along with them.

11. పూర్వము అతని నెరిగినవారందరు అతడు ప్రవక్తలతో కూడనుండి ప్రకటించుట చూచికీషు కుమారునికి సంభవించిన దేమిటి? సౌలును ప్రవక్తలలో నున్నాడా? అని ఒకనితో ఒకడు చెప్పుకొనగా

11. When those who knew him from before saw him there, prophesying with the prophets, they asked each other, 'What's happened to Kish's son? Is Sha'ul a prophet, too?'

12. ఆ స్థల మందుండు ఒకడువారి తండ్రి యెవడని యడిగెను. అందుకు సౌలును ప్రవక్తలలో నున్నాడా? అను సామెత పుట్టెను.

12. Someone in the crowd answered, 'Must prophets' fathers be special?' So it became an expression- 'Is Sha'ul a prophet, too?'

13. అంతట అతడు ప్రకటించుట చాలించి ఉన్నత స్థలమునకు వచ్చెను.

13. When he had finished prophesying, he arrived at the high place.

14. సౌలుయొక్క పినతండ్రి అతనిని అతని పనివానిని చూచిమీరిద్దరు ఎక్కడికి పోతిరని అడుగగా అతడు గార్దభములను వెదకబోతివిు; అవి కనబడక పోగా సమూయేలునొద్దకు పోతిమని చెప్పినప్పుడు

14. Sha'ul's uncle said to him and his servant, 'Where did you go?' He answered, 'To look for the donkeys. When we saw that they hadn't been found, we went to Sh'mu'el.'

15. సౌలు పిన తండ్రిసమూయేలు నీతో చెప్పిన సంగతి నాతో చెప్పుమని అతనితో అనగా

15. 'Tell me, please,' said Sha'ul's uncle, 'what Sh'mu'el said to you.'

16. సౌలుగార్దభములు దొరికినవని అతడు చెప్పెనని తన పినతండ్రితో అనెను గాని రాజ్య మునుగూర్చి సమూయేలు చెప్పిన మాటను తెలుపలేదు.

16. Sha'ul answered his uncle, 'He told us that the donkeys had been found,' but said nothing to him about the matter of his being made king.

17. తరువాత సమూయేలు మిస్పాకు యెహోవా యొద్దకు జనులను పిలువనంపించి ఇశ్రాయేలీయులతో ఇట్లనెను

17. Sh'mu'el summoned the people to ADONAI in Mitzpah.

18. ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవా ఈలాగున సెల విచ్చుచున్నాడునేను ఇశ్రాయేలీయులైన మిమ్మును ఐగుపు ్త దేశములోనుండి రప్పించి ఐగుప్తీయుల వశములో నుండియు, మిమ్మును బాధపెట్టిన జనములన్నిటి వశములో నుండియు విడిపించితిని.

18. He said to the people of Isra'el, 'Here is what ADONAI the God of Isra'el says: 'I brought Isra'el up from Egypt. I rescued you from the power of the Egyptians and from the power of all the kingdoms that oppressed you.'

19. అయినను మీ దుర్దశలన్నిటిని ఉపద్రవము లన్నిటిని పోగొట్టి మిమ్మును రక్షించిన మీ దేవుని మీరు ఇప్పుడు విసర్జించిమామీద ఒకని రాజుగా నియమింపుమని ఆయనను అడిగియున్నారు. కాబట్టి యిప్పుడు మీ గోత్రముల చొప్పునను మీ కుటుంబముల చొప్పునను మీరు యెహోవా సన్నిధిని హాజరు కావలెను.

19. But today you have rejected your God, who himself saves you from all your disasters and distress. You have said to him, 'No! Put a king over us!' So now, present yourselves before ADONAI by your tribes and families.'

20. ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల గోత్రములన్నిటిని సమూయేలు సమకూర్చగా బెన్యామీను గోత్రము ఏర్పడెను.

20. So Sh'mu'el had all the tribes come forward, and the tribe of Binyamin was chosen.

21. బెన్యామీను గోత్రమును వారి యింటి కూటముల ప్రకారము అతడు సమకూర్చగా మథ్రీ యింటి కూటము ఏర్పడెను. తరువాత కీషు కుమారుడైన సౌలు ఏర్పడెను. అయితే జనులు అతని వెదకినప్పుడు అతడు కనబడలేదు.

21. He had the tribe of Binyamin come forward by families, and the family of the Matri was chosen, and Sha'ul the son of Kish was chosen. But when they looked for him, he couldn't be found.

22. కావున వారుఇక్కడికి ఇంకొక మనుష్యుడు రావలసి యున్నదా అని యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారణచేయగా యెహోవాఇదిగో అతడు సామానులో దాగియున్నాడని సెలవిచ్చెను.

22. They asked ADONAI, 'Has the man come here?' ADONAI answered, 'There he is, hiding, in among the equipment.'

23. వారు పరుగెత్తిపోయి అక్కడనుండి అతని తోడుకొనివచ్చిరి; అతడు జనసమూహములో నిలిచి నప్పుడు భుజములు మొదలుకొని పైకి ఇతరులకంటె ఎత్తుగలవాడుగా కనబడెను.

23. They ran and brought him from there, and when he stood among the people he was head and shoulders taller than anyone around.

24. అప్పుడు సమూయేలుజనులందరిలో యెహోవా ఏర్పరచినవానిని మీరు చూచి తిరా? జనులందరిలో అతనివంటివాడొకడును లేడని చెప్పగా, జనులందరు బొబ్బలు పెట్టుచురాజు చిరంజీవి యగుగాక అని కేకలువేసిరి.

24. Sh'mu'el said to all the people, 'Do you see the man ADONAI has chosen, that there is no one like him among all the people?' Then all the people shouted, 'Long live the king!'

25. తరువాత సమూయేలు రాజ్యపాలనపద్ధతిని జనులకు వినిపించి, ఒక గ్రంథమందు వ్రాసి యెహోవా సన్నిధిని దాని నుంచెను. అంతట సమూయేలు జనులందరిని వారి వారి ఇండ్లకు పంపివేసెను.

25. Sh'mu'el told the people what kinds of rulings should be made in the kingdom, then wrote it on a scroll and set it down before ADONAI. After that, he sent all the people away, everyone to his own home.

26. సౌలును గిబియాలోని తన ఇంటికి వెళ్లిపోయెను. దేవునిచేత హృదయ ప్రేరేపణ నొందిన శూరులు అతని వెంట వెళ్లిరి.

26. Sha'ul too went home to Giv'ah, accompanied by warriors whose hearts God had touched.

27. పనికిమాలినవారు కొందరుఈ మనుష్యుడు మనలను ఏలాగు రక్షింపగలడని చెప్పుకొనుచు అతని నిర్లక్ష్యము చేసి అతనికి కానుకలు తీసికొని రాకుండగా అతడు చెవిటివాడైనట్టు ఊర కుండెను.

27. True, there were some scoundrels who said, 'How can this man save us?' They showed him no respect and brought him no gift, but he held his peace.
