1. ఆ దినములలో ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు రాజు లేడు. మరియు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల గోత్రములలో ఆ దినమువరకు దానీయులు స్వాస్థ్యము పొంది యుండలేదు గనుక ఆ కాలమున తాము నివసించుటకు తమకు స్వాస్థ్యము వెదకు కొనుటకై వారు బయలుదేరియుండిరి.

1. At that time the Israelites did not have a king. And the tribe of Dan was still looking for a place to live. They did not have their own land yet. The other tribes of Israel already had their land, but the tribe of Dan had not taken their land yet.

2. ఆ దేశసంచారము చేసి దానిని పరిశోధించుటకై దానీయులు తమ వంశస్థు లందరిలోనుండి పరాక్రమ వంతులైన అయిదుగురు మను ష్యులను జొర్యా నుండియు ఎష్తాయోలునుండియు పంపిమీరు వెళ్లి దేశమును పరిశోధించుడని వారితోచెప్పగా

2. So the tribe of Dan sent five soldiers to look for some land. They went to search for a good place to live. These five men were from the cities of Zorah and Eshtaol. They were chosen because they were from all the families of Dan. They were told, 'Go, look for some land.' The five men came to the hill country of Ephraim. They came to Micah's house and spent the night there.

3. When the five men came close to Micah's house, they heard the voice of the young Levite man. They recognized his voice, so they stopped at Micah's house. They asked the young man, 'Who brought you to this place? What are you doing? Why are you here?'

4. The young man told them what Micah had done for him. 'Micah hired me,' the young man said. 'I am his priest.'

5. So they said to him, 'Please ask God if our search for a place to live will be successful.'

6. ఆ యాజకుడు క్షేమముగా వెళ్లుడి, మీరు చేయబోవుపని యెహోవా దృష్టికి అనుకూలమని వారితో చెప్పెను.

6. The priest said to the five men, 'Yes. Go in peace. The Lord will lead you on your way.'

7. కాబట్టి ఆ అయిదుగురు మనుష్యులు వెళ్లి లాయిషునకు వచ్చి, దానిలోని జనము సీదోనీయులవలె సుఖముగాను నిర్భయముగాను నివసించుటయు, అధికారబలము పొందిన వాడెవడును లేకపోవుటయు, ఏమాత్రమైనను అవమాన పరచగలవాడెవడును ఆ దేశములో లేకపోవుటయు, వారు సీదోనీయులకు దూరస్థులై యే మనుష్యులతోను సాంగత్యము లేకుండుటయు చూచిరి.

7. So the five men left. They came to the city of Laish and saw that the people of that city lived in safety. They were ruled by the people of Sidon. Everything was peaceful and quiet. The people had plenty of everything, and they didn't have any enemies nearby to hurt them. Also they lived a long way from the city of Sidon, and they did not have any agreements with the people of Aram.

8. వారు జొర్యా లోను ఎష్తాయోలులోను ఉండు తమ స్వజనులయొద్దకు రాగా వారుమీ తాత్పర్యమేమిటని యడిగిరి.

8. The five men went back to the cities of Zorah and Eshtaol. Their relatives asked them, 'What did you learn?'

9. అందుకు వారులెండి, వారిమీద పడుదము, ఆ దేశమును మేము చూచితివిు, అది బహు మంచిది, మీరు ఊరకనున్నా రేమి? ఆలస్యము చేయక బయలుదేరి ప్రవేశించి ఆ దేశమును స్వాధీనపరచుకొనుడి.

9. The five men answered, 'We have found some land, and it is very good. We should attack them. Don't wait! Let's go and take that land!

10. జనులు నిర్భయముగా నున్నారు గనుక మీరు పోయి వారిమీద పడవచ్చును. ఆ దేశము నలుదిక్కుల విశాలమైనది, దేవుడు మీ చేతికి దాని నప్పగించును, భూమిలోనున్న పదార్థములలో ఏదియు అచ్చట కొదువలేదనిరి.

10. When you come to that place, you will see that there is plenty of land. There is plenty of everything there. You will also see that the people are not expecting an attack. Surely God has given that land to us.'

11. అప్పుడు జొర్యాలోను ఎష్తాయోలులోను ఉన్న దానీయులైన ఆరువందలమంది యుద్ధాయుధములు కట్టు కొని అక్కడనుండి బయలుదేరి యూదా దేశమందలి కిర్యత్యారీములో దిగిరి.

11. So 600 men from the tribe of Dan left the cities of Zorah and Eshtaol. They were ready for war.

12. అందుచేతను నేటివరకు ఆ స్థల మునకు దానీయులదండని పేరు. అది కిర్యత్యారీమునకు పడమట నున్నది.

12. On their way to the city of Laish, they stopped near the city of Kiriath Jearim in the land of Judah. They set up a camp there. That is why the place west of Kiriath Jearim is named Mahaneh Dan to this very day.

13. అక్కడనుండి వారు ఎఫ్రాయిమీ యుల మన్యప్రదేశమునకు పోయి మీకా యింటికి వచ్చిరి.

13. From there the 600 men traveled on to the hill country of Ephraim. Then they came to Micah's house.

14. కాబట్టి లాయిషుదేశమును సంచరించుటకు పోయిన ఆ అయిదుగురు మను ష్యులు తమ సహోదరులను చూచిఈ యిండ్లలో ఏఫోదును గృహదేవతలును చెక్క బడిన ప్రతిమయు పోతవిగ్రహమును ఉన్నవని మీరెరుగుదురా? మీరేమి చేయవలెనో దాని యోచన చేయుడనగా

14. So the five men who had explored the land around Laish spoke. They said to their relatives, 'There is an ephod in one of these houses. And there are also household gods, a carved statue, and a silver idol. You know what to do.'

15. వారు ఆతట్టు తిరిగి లేవీయుడైన ఆ ¸యౌవను డున్న మీకా యింటికి వచ్చి అతని కుశలప్రశ్నలడిగిరి.

15. So they stopped at Micah's house, where the young Levite lived. They asked the young man how he was.

16. దానీయులైన ఆ ఆరువందలమంది తమ యుద్ధాయుధము లను కట్టుకొని

16. The 600 men from the tribe of Dan stood at the entrance of the gate. They all had their weapons and were ready for war.

17. గవినివాకిట నిలుచుండగా, దేశమును సంచరించుటకు పోయిన ఆ అయిదుగురు మనుష్యులు లోపలచొచ్చి ఆ ప్రతిమను ఏఫోదును గృహదేవతలను పోతవిగ్రహమును పట్టుకొనిరి. అప్పుడు ఆ యాజకుడు యుద్ధాయుధములు కట్టుకొనిన ఆ ఆరువందల మంది మను ష్యులతోకూడ గవిని యెదుట వాకిట నిలిచియుండెను.

17. The five spies went into the house. The priest stood just outside by the gate with the 600 men who were ready for war. The men took the carved idol, the ephod, the household idols, and the silver idol. The young Levite priest said, 'What are you doing?'

18. వీరు మీకా యింటికిపోయి చెక్క బడిన ప్రతిమను ఏఫో దును గృహదేవతలను పోతవి గ్రహమును పట్టుకొనినప్పుడు ఆ యాజకుడుమీరేమి చేయుచున్నారని వారి నడుగగా

19. వారునీవు ఊర కుండుము, నీ చెయ్యి నీ నోటి మీద ఉంచుకొని మాతోకూడ వచ్చి మాకు తండ్రివిగాను యాజకుడవుగాను ఉండుము, ఒకని యింటివారికే యాజ కుడవై యుండుట నీకు మంచిదా, ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలో ఒక గోత్ర మునకును కుటుంబమునకును యాజకుడవైయుం డుట మంచిదా? అని యడిగిరి.

19. The five men answered, 'Be quiet! Don't say a word. Come with us. Be our father and our priest. You must choose. Is it better for you to be a priest for just one man or for a whole tribe of Israelites with many family groups?'

20. అప్పుడు ఆ యాజకుడు హృదయమున సంతోషించి ఆ ఏఫోదును గృహదేవతలను చెక్కబడిన ప్రతిమను పట్టుకొని ఆ జనుల మధ్య చేరెను.

20. This made the Levite happy. So he took the ephod, the household idols, and the idol. He went with the men from the tribe of Dan.

21. అట్లు వారు తిరిగి చిన్నపిల్లలను పశువులను సామగ్రిని తమకు ముందుగా నడిపించుకొనిపోయిరి.

21. Then the 600 men from the tribe of Dan and the Levite priest turned and left Micah's house. They put their little children, their animals, and all their things in front of them.

22. వారు మీకా యింటికి దూరమైనప్పుడు, మీకా పొరు గిండ్లవారు పోగై దానీయులను వెంటాడి కలిసికొని వారిని పిలువగా

22. The men from the tribe of Dan went a long way from that place. But the people living near Micah met together. Then they began chasing the men of Dan and caught up with them.

23. వారు తమ ముఖములను త్రిప్పు కొనినీకేమి కావలెను? ఇట్లు గుంపుకూడ నేల? అని మీకాను అడిగిరి.

23. The men with Micah were shouting at the men of Dan. The men of Dan turned around and said to Micah, 'What's the problem? Why are you shouting?'

24. అందు కతడునేను చేయించిన నా దేవతలను నేను ప్రతిష్ఠించిన యాజకుని మీరు పట్టు కొని పోవుచున్నారే, యిక నా యొద్ద ఏమియున్నది? నీకేమి కావలెననుచున్నారే, అదే మన్నమాట అనగా

24. Micah answered, 'You men from Dan took my idols. I made them for myself. You have also taken my priest. What do I have left now? How can you ask me, 'What's the problem?''

25. దానీయులునీ స్వరము మాలో నెవనికిని వినబడనీ యకుము, వారు ఆగ్రహపడి నీమీద పడుదురేమో, అప్పుడు నీవు నీ ప్రాణమును నీ యింటివారి ప్రాణమును పోగొట్టుకొందువని అతనితో చెప్పి

25. The men from the tribe of Dan answered, 'You had better not argue with us. Some of our men become angry easily. If you shout at us, they might attack you. You and your families might get killed.'

26. తమ త్రోవను వెళ్లిరి. వారు తనకంటె బలవంతులని మీకా గ్రహించినవాడై తిరిగి తన యింటికి వెళ్లిపోయెను.

26. Then the men of Dan turned around and went on their way. Micah knew that these men were too strong for him, so he went back home.

27. మీకా చేసికొనినదానిని, అతని యొద్దనున్న యాజకునిని వారు పట్టుకొని, సుఖముగాను నిర్భయముగాను ఉన్న లాయిషు వారి మీదికి వచ్చి కత్తివాత వారిని హతముచేసి అగ్నిచేత ఆ పట్టణమును కాల్చివేసిరి.

27. So the men of Dan took the idols that Micah made. They also took the priest who had been with Micah. Then they came to Laish. They attacked the people living in Laish. Those people were at peace. They were not expecting an attack. The men of Dan killed them with their swords and then burned the city.

28. అది సీదోనుకు దూరమై నందునను, వారికి అన్యులతో సాంగత్యమేమియు లేనందు నను వారిలో ఎవడును తప్పించుకొనలేదు. అది బేత్రె హోబునకు సమీపమైన లోయలోనున్నది.

28. The people living in Laish did not have anyone to rescue them. They lived too far from the city of Sidon for the people there to help. And the people of Laish did not have any agreements with the people of Aram�so they did not help them. The city of Laish was in a valley, which belonged to the town of Beth Rehob. The people from Dan built a new city in that place, and it became their home.

29. వారొక పట్టణమును కట్టుకొని అక్కడ నివసించిరి. ఇశ్రాయేలుకు పుట్టిన తమ తండ్రి యైన దానునుబట్టి ఆ పట్టణమునకు దాను అను పేరు పెట్టిరి. పూర్వము ఆ పట్టణమునకు లాయిషు అను పేరు.

29. The people of Dan gave the city a new name. That city had been called Laish, but they changed the name to Dan. They named the city after their ancestor Dan, one of the sons of Israel.

30. దానీయులు చెక్కబడిన ఆ ప్రతి మను నిలుపుకొనిరి. మోషే మనుమడును గెర్షోను కుమా రుడునైన యోనాతాననువాడును వాని కుమారులును ఆ దేశము చెరపట్టబడువరకు దానీయుల గోత్రమునకు యాజకులై యుండిరి.

30. The people of the tribe of Dan set up the idol in the city of Dan. They made Jonathan son of Gershom their priest. Gershom was the son of Moses. Jonathan and his sons were priests for the tribe of Dan until the time when the Israelites were taken into captivity.

31. దేవుని మందిరము షిలోహులోనున్న దినములన్నిటను వారు మీకా చేయించిన ప్రతిమను నిలుపుకొనియుండిరి.

31. The people of Dan set up for themselves the idol that Micah had made. That idol was there the whole time that the house of God was in Shiloh.
