1. And after Abimelech there arose to defend Israel Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in mount Ephraim.

2. అతడు ఇరువదిమూడు సంవత్సరములు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు న్యాయాధిపతియై ఉండి చనిపోయి షామీరులో పాతి పెట్టబడెను.

2. And he judged Israel twenty and three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir.

3. And after him arose Jair, a Gileadite, and judged Israel twenty and two years.

4. అతనికి ముప్పదిమంది కుమారులుండిరి, వారు ముప్పది గాడిదపిల్లల నెక్కి తిరుగువారు, ముప్పది ఊరులు వారికుండెను, నేటి వరకు వాటికి యాయీరు గ్రామములని పేరు.

4. And he had thirty sons that rode on thirty ass colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Havoth-jair unto this day, which are in the land of Gilead.

5. అవి గిలాదు దేశములో నున్నవి. యాయీరు చనిపోయి కామోనులో పాతిపెట్టబడెను.

5. And Jair died, and was buried in Camon.

6. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు యెహోవా సన్నిధిని మరల దుష్‌ ప్రవర్తనులైరి. వారు యెహోవాను విసర్జించి ఆయన సేవ మానివేసి, బయలులు అష్తారోతులు అను సిరియనుల దేవత లను సీదోనీయుల దేవతలను మోయాబీయుల దేవతలను అమ్మోనీయుల దేవతలను ఫిలిష్తీయుల దేవతలను పూజిం చుచువచ్చిరి.

6. And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of YHWH, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the elohim of Syria, and the elohim of Zidon, and the elohim of Moab, and the elohim of the children of Ammon, and the elohim of the Philistines, and forsook YHWH, and served not him.

7. యెహోవా కోపాగ్ని ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల మీద మండగా ఆయన ఫిలిష్తీయుల చేతికిని అమ్మోనీయుల చేతికిని వారినప్పగించెను గనుక

7. And the anger of YHWH was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hands of the Philistines, and into the hands of the children of Ammon.

8. వారు ఆ సంవత్సరము మొదలుకొని ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను, అనగా యొర్దాను అవతల నున్న గిలాదునందలి అమోరీయుల దేశములో కాపుర మున్న ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను పదునెనిమిది సంవత్సరములు చితుకగొట్టి అణచివేసిరి.

8. And that year they vexed and oppressed the children of Israel: eighteen years, all the children of Israel that were on the other side Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which is in Gilead.

9. మరియు అమ్మోనీయులు యూదాదేశస్థులతోను బెన్యామీనీయులతోను ఎఫ్రాయి మీయులతోను యుద్ధముచేయుటకు యొర్దానును దాటిరి గనుక ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు మిక్కిలి శ్రమ కలిగెను

9. Moreover the children of Ammon passed over Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim; so that Israel was sore distressed.

10. అప్పుడు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులుమేము నీ సన్నిధిని పాపము చేసియున్నాము, మా దేవుని విడిచి బయలులను పూజించి యున్నామని యెహోవాకు మొఱ్ఱపెట్టగా

10. And the children of Israel cried unto YHWH, saying, We have sinned against thee, both because we have forsaken our Elohim, and also served Baalim.

11. యెహోవా ఐగుప్తీయుల వశములోనుండియు అమోరీయుల వశ ములో నుండియు అమ్మోనీయుల వశములోనుండియు ఫిలిష్తీ యుల వశములోనుండియు మాత్రము గాక

11. And YHWH said unto the children of Israel, Did not I deliver you from the Egyptians, and from the Amorites, from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines?

12. సీదోనీయు లును అమాలేకీయులును మాయోనీయులును మిమ్మును బాధ పరచినప్పుడు వారి వశములోనుండియు నేను మిమ్మును రక్షించితిని గదా

12. The Zidonians also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, did oppress you; and ye cried to me, and I delivered you out of their hand.

13. అయితే మీరు నన్ను విసర్జించి అన్య దేవతలను పూజించితిరి గనుక నేను ఇకను మిమ్మును రక్షిం పను.

13. Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other elohim: wherefore I will deliver you no more.

14. పోయి మీరు కోరుకొనిన దేవతలకు మొఱ్ఱపెట్టు కొనుడి; మీ శ్రమకాలమున అవి మిమ్మును రక్షించునేమో అని ఇశ్రాయేలీయులతో సెలవిచ్చెను.

14. Go and cry unto the elohim which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.

15. అప్పుడు ఇశ్రా యేలీయులుమేము పాపము చేసియున్నాము, నీ దృష్టికి ఏది అనుకూలమో దాని చొప్పున మాకు చేయుము; దయ చేసి నేడు మమ్మును రక్షింపుమని చెప్పి

15. And the children of Israel said unto YHWH, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day.

16. యెహోవాను సేవింపవలెనని తమ మధ్యనుండి అన్యదేవతలను తొలగింపగా, ఆయన ఆత్మ ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు కలిగిన దురవస్థను చూచి సహింపలేక పోయెను.

16. And they put away the strange elohim from among them, and served YHWH: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.

17. అప్పుడు అమ్మోనీయులు కూడుకొని గిలాదులో దిగి యుండిరి. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులును కూడుకొని మిస్పాలో దిగియుండిరి.

17. Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gilead. And the children of Israel assembled themselves together, and encamped in Mizpeh.

18. కాబట్టి జనులు, అనగా గిలాదు పెద్దలుఅమ్మోనీయులతో యుద్ధముచేయ బూనుకొనువాడెవడో వాడు గిలాదు నివాసులకందరికిని ప్రధానుడగునని యొక నితో నొకడు చెప్పుకొనిరి.

18. And the people and princes of Gilead said one to another, What man is he that will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.
