1. యెహోషువ మృతినొందిన తరువాత ఇశ్రాయేలీ యులుకనానీయులతో యుద్ధము చేయుటకు తమలో నెవరు ముందుగా వారి మీదికి పోవలసినది యెహోవా తెలియజేయునట్లు ప్రార్థనచేయగా

1. After the death of Joshua, the people of Israel asked the Lord, 'Who will be first to go up and fight against the Canaanites for us?'

2. యెహోవాఆ దేశమును యూదావంశస్థుల కిచ్చియున్నాను, వారు పోవలెనని సెలవిచ్చెను.

2. The Lord said, 'Judah will go up. See, I have given the land into his hand.'

3. అప్పుడు యూదావంశస్థులు తమ సహోదరులైన షిమ్యోనీయులతోమనము కనా నీయులతో యుద్ధము చేయుటకుమా వంతులోనికి మాతోకూడ రండి, మేమును మీతోకూడ మీ వంతులోనికి వచ్చెదమని చెప్పగా షిమ్యోనీయులు వారితో కూడ పోయిరి.

3. Then Judah said to his brother Simeon, 'Come with me into the land which is given to me. Let us fight against the Canaanites together. Then I will go with you into the land which is given to you.' So Simeon went with him.

4. కనానీయులమీదికి యూదావంశస్థులు పోయినప్పుడు యెహోవా కనానీయులను పెరిజ్జీయులను వారి కప్పగించెను గనుక వారు బెజెకులో పదివేలమంది మనుష్యులను హతముచేసిరి.

4. Judah went up, and the Lord gave the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hands. They killed 10,000 men at Bezek.

5. వారు బెజెకులో అదోనీ బెజెకును చూచి వానితో యుద్ధముచేసి కనానీయులను పెరిజ్జీయులను హతముచేసిరి.

5. They found Adoni-bezek in Bezek and fought against him, and they won the war against the Canaanites and the Perizzites.

6. అదోనీ బెజెకు పారిపోగా వారు అతని తరిమి పట్టుకొని అతని కాలుచేతుల బొట్టన వ్రేళ్లను కోసివేసిరి.

6. Adoni-bezek tried to run away, but they went after him and caught him. They cut off his thumbs and big toes.

7. అప్పుడు అదోనీ బెజెకుతమ కాళ్లు చేతుల బొట్టనవ్రేళ్లు కోయబడిన డెబ్బదిమంది రాజులు నా భోజనపు బల్లక్రింద ముక్కలు ఏరుకొనుచుండిరి. నేను చేసినట్లే దేవుడు నాకు ప్రతిఫలమిచ్చెననెను. వారు యెరూషలేమునకు అతని తోడుకొనిరాగా అతడు అక్కడ చనిపోయెను.

7. Adoni-bezek said, 'Seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off had to gather their food under my table. Now God has paid me for what I have done.' So they brought him to Jerusalem and there he died.

8. యూదావంశస్థులు యెరూషలేముమీదికి యుద్ధము చేసి దానిని పట్టుకొని కొల్లబెట్టి ఆ పట్టణమును కాల్చి వేసిరి.

8. Then the men of Judah fought against Jerusalem and took it. They destroyed it with the sword and set the city on fire.

9. తరువాత యూదావంశస్థులు మన్యములయందును దక్షిణదేశమందును లోయయందును నివసించిన కనానీయు లతో యుద్ధము చేయుటకు పోయిరి.

9. After this the men of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites living in the hill country, in the Negev and in the plains.

10. మరియు యూదా వంశస్థులు హెబ్రోనులో నివసించిన కనానీయులమీదికి పోయి, షేషయిని అహీమానును తల్మయిని హతముచేసిరి.

10. Judah went against the Canaanites who lived in Hebron. (The name of Hebron was Kiriath-arba before.) They won the war against Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai.

11. ఆ హెబ్రోను పేరు కిర్యతర్బా. అక్కడనుండి వారు దెబీరు నివాసులమీదికి పోయిరి. పూర్వము దెబీరు పేరు కిర్యత్సేఫెరు.

11. From there Judah went against the people of Debir. (The name of Debir was Kiriath-sepher before.)

12. కాలేబుకిర్యత్సేఫెరును పట్టుకొని కొల్ల బెట్టువానికి నా కుమార్తెయైన అక్సాను ఇచ్చి పెండ్లిచేసెద నని చెప్పగా

12. Caleb said, 'I will give my daughter Achsah as a wife to the one who fights against Kiriath-sepher and takes it.'

13. కాలేబు తమ్ముడైన కనజు కుమారుడగు ఒత్నీయేలు దాని పట్టుకొనెను గనుక కాలేబు తన కుమార్తె యైన అక్సాను అతనికిచ్చి పెండ్లి చేసెను.

13. Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, took the city. So Caleb gave him his daughter Achsah for a wife.

14. ఆమె తన పెనిమిటి యింట ప్రవేశించినప్పుడు తన తండ్రిని ఒక పొలము అడుగుటకు అతనిని ప్రేరేపించెను. ఆమె గాడిదను దిగగా కాలేబునీకేమి కావలెనని యడిగెను

14. When she came to Othniel, she talked him into asking her father for a field. As she came down from her donkey, Caleb said to her, 'What do you want?'

15. అందుకామెదీవెన దయ చేయుము; నాకు దక్షిణ భూమి ఇచ్చియున్నావు, నీటి మడుగులను కూడ నాకు దయ చేయుమనెను. అప్పుడు కాలేబు ఆమెకు మెరక మడుగులను పల్లపు మడుగులను ఇచ్చెను.

15. She said to him, 'Give me a special gift. You have given me the land of the Negev. Give me the wells of water also.' So Caleb gave her the wells in the high land and in the valley.

16. మోషే మామయైన కేయిను కుమారులు యూదా వంశస్థులతో కూడ ఖర్జూరచెట్ల పట్టణములోనుండి అరాదు దక్షిణదిక్కులోని యూదా అరణ్యమునకు వెళ్లి అక్కడ చేరి ఆ జనముతో నివసించిరి.

16. The children of the Kenite, Moses' father-in-law, went with the people of Judah from Jericho to the desert of Judah south of Arad. They went and lived with the people.

17. యూదావంశస్థులు తమ సహోదరులైన షిమ్యోనీయులతో కూడ పోయి జెఫ తులో నివసించిన కనానీయులను హతము చేసి పట్టణమును నిర్మూలముచేసి ఆ పట్టణమునకు హోర్మా అను పేరు పెట్టిరి.

17. Then Judah went with his brother Simeon. They killed the Canaanites living in Zephath and destroyed the whole city. The name of the city was called Hormah.

18. యూదావంశస్థులు గాజా నుదాని ప్రదేశమును అష్కె లోనును దాని ప్రదేశమును ఎక్రోనును దాని ప్రదేశమును పట్టుకొనిరి.

18. Judah took Gaza with its land, Ashkelon with its land, and Ekron with its land.

19. యెహోవా యూదావంశస్థులకు తోడై యున్నందున వారు మన్యదేశమును స్వాధీనపరచుకొనిరి. అయితే మైదానమందు నివసించువారికి ఇనుపరథములున్నందున వారిని వెళ్లగొట్టలేకపోయిరి.

19. The Lord was with Judah. They took the hill country for their own. They could not drive out the people living in the valley, because they had iron warwagons.

20. మోషే చెప్పినట్లు వారు కాలేబుకు హెబ్రోను నియ్యగా అతడు ముగ్గురు అనాకీయులను అక్కడనుండి పారదోలి దానిని స్వాధీన పరచుకొనెను.

20. They gave Hebron to Caleb, as Moses had promised, and he drove out the three sons of Anak.

21. యెరూషలేములో నివసించు యెబూసీ యులను బెన్యామీనీయులు వెళ్లగొట్టలేదు; యెబూసీ యులు బెన్యామీనీయులతో కూడ నేటివరకు యెరూష లేములో నివసించుచున్నారు.

21. But the people of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites who lived in Jerusalem. So the Jebusites have lived with the people of Benjamin in Jerusalem to this day.

22. యోసేపు ఇంటివారు బేతేలుకు వెళ్లినప్పుడు యెహోవా వారికి తోడైయుండెను.

22. The men of the family of Joseph went up against Bethel. And the Lord was with them.

23. పూర్వము లూజనబడిన బేతే లును వేగుచూచుటకు యోసేపు ఇంటివారు దూతలను పంపగా

23. Those of the family of Joseph spied out Bethel. (The name of the city was Luz before.)

24. ఆ వేగులవారు ఆ పట్టణమునుండి ఒకడు వచ్చుట చూచినీవు దయచేసి యీ పట్టణములోనికి వెళ్లు త్రోవను మాకు చూపినయెడల మేము మీకు ఉపకారము చేసెదమని చెప్పిరి.

24. The men who were spying out Bethel saw a man coming out of the city. They said to him, 'Show us the way into the city, and we will be kind to you.'

25. అతడు పట్టణములోనికి పోవు త్రోవను వారికి చూపగా వారు ఆ పట్టణమును కత్తి వాత హతము చేసిరిగాని ఆ మనుష్యుని వాని కుటుంబికుల నందరిని పోనిచ్చిరి.

25. So he showed them the way into the city. They destroyed the city with the sword. But they let the man and all his family go free.

26. ఆ మనుష్యుడు హిత్తీయుల దేశము నకు వెళ్లి ఒక పట్టణమును కట్టించి దానికి లూజు అను పేరుపెట్టెను. నేటివరకు దానికదే పేరు.

26. The man went into the land of the Hittites. He built a city there and gave it the name of Luz. That is its name to this day.

27. మనష్షీయులు బేత్షెయానును దాని పల్లెలను, తయి నాకును దాని పల్లెలను, దోరునివాసులను దోరు పల్లెలను, ఇబ్లెయామును దాని పల్లెలను, మెగిద్దో నివాసులను, మెగిద్దో పల్లెలను, స్వాధీనపరచుకొన లేదు; ఏలయనగా కనానీయులు ఆ దేశములో నివసింపవలెనని గట్టిపట్టు పట్టియుండిరి.

27. But the men of Manasseh did not take for their own Bethshean and its towns or Taanach and its towns. They did not drive out the people of Dor and its towns, or of Ibleam and its towns, or of Megiddo and its towns. So the Canaanites stayed in that land.

28. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు బలవంతులైన తరువాత వారు కనానీయుల చేత వెట్టిపనులు చేయించుకొనిరి కాని వారిని బొత్తిగా వెళ్లగొట్టలేదు.

28. When Israel became strong, they made the Canaanites work for them. But they did not drive all of them out.

29. ఎఫ్రాయిమీయులు గెజెరులో నివసించిన కనానీయు లను వెళ్లగొట్టలేదు, గెజెరులో కనానీయులు వారి మధ్యను నివసించిరి.

29. Ephraim did not drive out the Canaanites who were living in Gezer. So the Canaanites lived in Gezer among them.

30. జెబూలూనీయులు కిత్రోను నివాసులను నహలోలు నివాసులను వెళ్లగొట్టలేదు, కనానీయులు వారి మధ్య నివసించి వారికి వెట్టిపనులు చేయువారైరి.

30. Zebulun did not drive out the people of Kitron or the people of Nahalol. So the Canaanites lived among them and were made to work.

31. ఆషే రీయులు అక్కో నివాసులను సీదోను నివాసులను అహ్లాబు వారిని అక్జీబువారిని హెల్బావారిని అఫెకువారిని రెహోబు వారిని

31. Asher did not drive out the people of Acco, or the people of Sidon, Ahlab, Achzib, Helbah, Aphik, or Rehob.

32. ఆషేరీయులు దేశనివాసులైన కనానీయులను వెళ్లగొట్టక వారి మధ్య నివసించిరి. నఫ్తాలీయులు బేత్షె మెషు వారిని బేతనాతువారిని వెళ్లగొట్టలేదు గాని

32. So the Asherites lived among the Canaanites, the people of the land. For they did not drive them out.

33. బేత్షెమెషు నివాసులచేతను బేతనాతు నివాసులచేతను వెట్టి పనులు చేయించుకొనిరి.

33. Naphtali did not drive out the people of Beth-shemesh or the people of Beth-anath. But they lived among the Canaanites, the people of the land. The people of Beth-shemesh and Beth-anath were made to work for them.

34. అమోరీయులు దానీయు లను పల్లపు దేశమునకు దిగనియ్యక మన్యమునకు వారిని వెళ్లగొట్టిరి.

34. The Amorites drove the people of Dan into the hill country. They did not let them come down to the valley.

35. అమోరీయులు అయ్యాలోను నందలి హెరెసు కొండలోను షయల్బీములోను నివసింపవలెనని గట్టి పట్టు పట్టియుండగా యోసేపు ఇంటివారు బలవంతులై వారిచేత వెట్టిపనులు చేయించుకొనిరి

35. The Amorites would not leave Mount Heres, Aijalon or Shaalbim. But when the family of Joseph became strong, they made the Amorites work for them.

36. అమోరీయుల సరి హద్దు అక్రబ్బీము మొదలుకొని హస్సెలావరకు వ్యాపించెను.

36. The land of the Amorites was from the hill-side of Akrabbim, up from Sela.
