1. శపితమైన దాని విషయములో ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు తిరుగుబాటుచేసిరి. ఎట్లనగా యూదాగోత్రములో జెరహు మునిమనుమడును జబ్ది మనుమడును కర్మీ కుమా రుడునైన ఆకాను శపితము చేయబడినదానిలో కొంత తీసికొనెను గనుక యెహోవా ఇశ్రాయేలీయులమీద కోపించెను.

1. But the children of Israel committed a trespasse in the excommunicate thing: for Achan the sonne of Carmi, the sonne of Zabdi, the sonne of Zerah of the tribe of Iuda tooke of the excommunicate thing: wherfore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against the children of Israel.

2. యెహోషువమీరు వెళ్లి దేశమును వేగు చూడుడని చెప్పి బేతేలు తూర్పుదిక్కున బేతావెను దగ్గరనున్న హాయి అను పురమునకు యెరికోనుండి వేగుల వారిని పంపగా వారు వెళ్లి

2. And Ioshua sent men from Iericho to Ai, which is beside Bethauen, on ye East side of Bethel, and spake vnto them, saying, Goe vp, and view the countrey. And ye men went vp, and viewed Ai,

3. హాయి పురమును వేగుచూచి యెహోషువ యొద్దకు తిరిగి వచ్చిజనులందరిని వెళ్లనీయ కుము, రెండు మూడు వేలమంది వెళ్లి హాయిని పట్టుకొన వచ్చును, జనులందరు ప్రయాసపడి అక్కడికి వెళ్లనేల? హాయి వారు కొద్దిగానున్నారు గదా అనిరి.

3. And returned to Ioshua, and saide vnto him, Let not al the people go vp, but let as it were two or three thousand men go vp, and smite Ai, and make not al the people to labour thither, for they are fewe.

4. కాబట్టి జనులలో ఇంచుమించు మూడు వేలమంది అక్కడికి వెళ్లిరిగాని వారు హాయివారి యెదుట నిలువలేక పారిపోయిరి.

4. So there went vp thither of the people about three thousande men, and they fledde before the men of Ai.

5. అప్పుడు హాయివారు వారిలో ముప్పది ఆరు గురు మనుష్యులను హతము చేసిరి. మరియు తమగవినియొద్ద నుండి షేబారీమువరకు వారిని తరిమి మోరాదులో వారిని హతము చేసిరి. కాబట్టి జనుల గుండెలు కరిగి నీరైపోయెను.

5. And the men of Ai smote of them vpon a thirtie and sixe men: for they chased them from before the gate vnto Shebarim, and smote them in the going downe: wherfore the heartes of the people melted away like water.

6. యెహోషువ తన బట్టలు చింపుకొని, తానును ఇశ్రా యేలీయుల పెద్దలును సాయంకాలమువరకు యెహోవా మందసము నెదుట నేలమీద ముఖములు మోపుకొని తమ తలలమీద ధూళి పోసికొనుచు

6. Then Ioshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth vpon his face before the Arke of the Lord, vntill the euentide, he, and the Elders of Israel, and put dust vpon their heads.

7. అయ్యో, ప్రభువా యెహోవా, మమ్మును నశింపజేయునట్లు అమోరీయుల చేతికి మమ్మును అప్పగించుటకు ఈ జనులను ఈ యొర్దాను నీ వెందుకు దాటించితివి? మేము యొర్దాను అవతల నివసించుట మేలు.

7. And Ioshua said, Alas, O Lord God, wherefore hast thou brought this people ouer Iorden, to deliuer vs into the hande of the Amorites, and to destroye vs? would God we had bene content to dwell on the other side Iorden.

8. ప్రభువా కనికరించుము; ఇశ్రాయేలీ యులు తమ శత్రువులయెదుట నిలువలేక వెనుకకు తిరిగి నందుకు నేనేమి చెప్పగలను?

8. Oh Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turne their backes before their enemies?

9. కనానీయులును ఈ దేశ నివాసులందరును విని, మమ్మును చుట్టుకొని మా పేరు భూమిమీద ఉండకుండ తుడిచివేసిన యెడల, ఘనమైన నీ నామమునుగూర్చి నీవేమి చేయుదువని ప్రార్థింపగా

9. For the Canaanites, and all the inhabitants of the land shall heare of it, and shall compasse vs, and destroy our name out of the earth: and what wilt thou doe vnto thy mightie Name?

10. యెహోవా యెహోషువతో ఇట్లనెనులెమ్ము, నీ వేల యిక్కడ ముఖము నేల మోపికొందువు?

10. And the Lord said vnto Ioshua, Get thee vp: wherefore lyest thou thus vpon thy face?

11. ఇశ్రాయేలీ యులు పాపము చేసియున్నారు. నేను వారితో చేసిన నిబంధనను వారు మీరియున్నారు. శపితమైన దాని కొంత తీసికొని, దొంగిలి బొంకి తమ సామానులో దాని ఉంచుకొని యున్నారు.

11. Israel hath sinned, and they haue transgressed my couenant, which I commanded them: for they haue euen taken of the excommunicate thing, and haue also stollen, and dissembled also, and haue put it euen with their owne stuffe.

12. కాబట్టి ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు శాపగ్రస్తులై తమ శత్రువులయెదుట నిలువలేక తమ శత్రువుల యెదుట వెనుకకు తిరిగిరి. శాపగ్రస్తులైనవారు మీ మధ్యనుండకుండ మీరు వారిని నిర్మూలము చేసితేనే తప్ప నేను మీకు తోడైయుండను.

12. Therefore ye children of Israel cannot stand before their enemies, but haue turned their backes before their enemies, because they be execrable: neither will I bee with you any more, except ye destroy the excommunicate from among you.

13. నీవు లేచి జనులను పరిశుద్ధపఱచి వారితో ఈలాగు చెప్పుమురేపటికి మిమ్మును మీరు పరిశుద్ధపరచుకొనుడి; ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చినదేమనగాఇశ్రాయేలీయు లారా, మీ మధ్య శాపగ్రస్తమైన దొకటి కలదు; మీరు దానిని మీ మధ్య నుండకుండ నిర్మూ లము చేయువరకు మీ శత్రువుల యెదుట మీరు నిలువలేరు.

13. Vp therefore, sanctifie the people, and say, Sanctifie your selues against to morowe: for thus saith the Lord God of Israel, There is an execrable thing among you, O Israel, therefore ye cannot stand against your enemies, vntill ye haue put the execrable thing from among you.

14. ఉదయమున మీ గోత్రముల వరుసనుబట్టి మీరు రప్పింపబడుదురు; అప్పుడు యెహోవా ఏ గోత్రమును సూచించునో అది వంశముల వరుసప్రకారము దగ్గరకు రావలెను; యెహోవా సూచించు వంశము కుటుంబములప్రకారము దగ్గరకు రావలెను; యెహోవా సూచించు కుటుంబము పురుషుల వరుసప్రకారము దగ్గరకు రావలెను.

14. In the morning therefore ye shall come according to your tribes, and the tribe which the Lord taketh, shall come according to the families: and the familie which the Lord shall take, shall come by the housholds: and the houshold which the Lord shall take, shall come man by man.

15. అప్పుడు శపిత మైనది యెవనియొద్ద దొరుకునో వానిని వానికి కలిగినవారి నందరిని అగ్నిచేత కాల్చివేయవలెను, ఏలయనగా వాడు యెహోవా నిబంధనను మీరి ఇశ్రాయేలులో దుష్కా ర్యము చేసినవాడు అనెను.

15. And he that is taken with the excommunicate thing, shall be burnt with fire, hee, and all that he hath, because he hath transgressed the couenant of the Lord, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel.

16. కాబట్టి యెహోషువ ఉదయమున లేచి ఇశ్రాయేలీ యులను వారి గోత్రముల వరుసనుబట్టి దగ్గరకు రప్పించి నప్పుడు యూదాగోత్రము పట్టుబడెను.

16. So Ioshua rose vp earely in the morning and brought Israel by their tribes: and the tribe of Iudah was taken.

17. యూదా వంశ మును దగ్గరకు రప్పించినప్పుడు జెరహీయుల వంశము పట్టు బడెను. జెరహీయుల వంశమును పురుషుల వరుసను దగ్గ రకు రప్పించినప్పుడు జబ్ది పట్టబడెను.

17. And he brought the families of Iudah, and tooke the familie of the Zarhites, and he brought the familie of the Zarhites, man by man, and Zabdi was taken.

18. అతడును అతని యింటి పురుషుల వరుసను దగ్గరకు రప్పింపబడినప్పుడు యూదా గోత్రములోని జెరహు మునిమనుమడును జబ్ది మనుమడును కర్మీ కుమారుడునైన ఆకాను పట్టుబడెను.

18. And he brought his houshold, man by man, and Achan ye sonne of Carmi, the sonne of Zabdi, the sonne of Zerah of the tribe of Iudah was take.

19. అప్పుడు యెహోషువ ఆకానుతో నా కుమారుడా ఇశ్రా యేలు దేవుడైన యెహోవాకు మహిమను చెల్లించి, ఆయన యెదుట ఒప్పుకొని, నీవు చేసినదానిని మరుగు చేయక నాకు తెలుపుమని నిన్ను వేడుకొనుచున్నానని చెప్పగా

19. Then Ioshua said vnto Achan, My sonne, I beseech thee, giue glory to the Lord God of Israel, and make confession vnto him, and shewe me now what thou hast done: hide it not from me.

20. ఆకాను యెహోషువతో ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాకు విరోధముగా నేను పాపము చేసినది నిజము.

20. And Achan answered Ioshua, and saide, In deede, I haue sinned against the Lord God of Israel, and thus, and thus haue I done.

21. దోపుడు సొమ్ములో ఒక మంచి షీనారు పైవస్త్రమును రెండువందల తులముల వెండిని ఏబది తుల ముల యెత్తుగల ఒక బంగారు కమ్మిని నేను చూచి వాటిని ఆశించి తీసికొంటిని; అదిగో నా డేరామధ్య అవి భూమిలో దాచబడియున్నవి, ఆ వెండి దాని క్రింద ఉన్నదని ఉత్తరమిచ్చి తాను చేసినదంతయు ఒప్పుకొనెను.

21. I sawe among the spoyle a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundreth shekels of siluer, and a wedge of golde of fiftie shekels weight, and I coueted them, and tooke them: and behold, they lye hid in the earth in the mids of my tent, and the siluer vnder it.

22. అప్పుడు యెహోషువ దూతలను పంపగా వారు ఆ డేరా యొద్దకు పరుగెత్తి చూచినప్పుడు అది డేరాలో దాచబడి యుండెను, ఆ వెండి దాని క్రిందనుండెను.

22. Then Ioshua sent messengers, which ran vnto the tent, and beholde, it was hid in his tent, and the siluer vnder it.

23. కాబట్టి వారు డేరా మధ్యనుండి వాటిని తీసికొని యెహోషువ యొద్దకును ఇశ్రాయేలీయులయొద్దకును తెచ్చి యెహోవా సన్నిధిని ఉంచిరి.

23. Therefore they tooke them out of the tent, and brought them vnto Ioshua, and vnto all the children of Israel, and layd them before the Lord.

24. తరువాత యెహోషువయు ఇశ్రా యేలీయులందరును జెరహు కుమారుడైన ఆకానును ఆ వెండిని ఆ పైవస్త్రమును ఆ బంగారు కమ్మిని, ఆకాను కుమారులను కుమార్తెలను ఎద్దులను గాడిదలను మందను డేరాను వానికి కలిగిన సమస్తమును పట్టుకొని ఆకోరు లోయలోనికి తీసికొనివచ్చిరి.

24. Then Ioshua tooke Achan the sonne of Zerah, and the siluer, and the garment and the wedge of golde and his sonnes, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheepe, and his tent, and all that hee had: and all Israel with him brought them vnto the valley of Achor.

25. అప్పుడు యెహోషువనీవేల మమ్మును బాధ పరిచితివి? నేడు యెహోవా నిన్ను బాధపరచుననగా ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరు వానిని రాళ్లతో చావగొట్టిరి;

25. And Ioshua said, In as much as thou hast troubled vs, the Lord shall trouble thee this day: and all Israel threwe stones at him, and burned them with fire, and stoned them with stones.

26. వారిని రాళ్లతో కొట్టిన తరువాత అగ్నిచేత కాల్చి వారిమీద రాళ్లను పెద్ద కుప్పగా వేసిరి. అది నేటివరకు ఉన్నది. అప్పుడు యెహోవా కోపోద్రేకము విడినవాడై మళ్లుకొనెను. అందుచేతను నేటివరకు ఆ చోటికి ఆకోరు లోయ అనిపేరు.

26. And they cast vpon him a great heape of stones vnto this day: and so the Lord turned from his fierce wrath: therefore hee called the name of that place, The valley of Achor, vnto this day.
