1. ప్రేమ కలిగియుండుటకు ప్రయాసపడుడి. ఆత్మ సంబంధమైన వరములను ఆసక్తితో అపేక్షించుడి; విశేషముగా మీరు ప్రవచనవరము అపేక్షించుడి.

1. Pursue love; nevertheless be envious of the spiritual gifts, and, rather, that ye may be prophesying.

2. ఎందుకనగా భాషతో మాటలాడువాడు మనుష్యులతో కాదు దేవునితో మాటలాడుచున్నాడు; మనుష్యుడెవడును గ్రహింపడుగాని వాడు ఆత్మవలన మర్మములను పలుకు చున్నాడు.

2. For, he that speaketh with a tongue, not unto men, doth speak, but, unto God, for, no one, understandeth, although, in spirit, he is speaking sacred secrets;

3. క్షేమాభివృద్ధియు హెచ్చరికయు ఆదరణయు కలుగునట్లు, ప్రవచించువాడు మనుష్యులతో మాట లాడుచున్నాడు.

3. But, be that prophesieth, unto men, doth speak edification, and exhortation, and comfort.

4. భాషతో మాటలాడువాడు తనకే క్షేమాభివృద్ధి కలుగజేసికొనును గాని ప్రవచించువాడు సంఘమునకు క్షేమాభివృద్ధి కలుగజేయును.

4. He that speaketh with a tongue, buildeth up, himself, whereas, he that prophesieth, buildeth up, an assembly.

5. మీరందరు భాషలతో మాటలాడవలెనని కోరుచున్నానుగాని మీరు ప్రవచింపవలెనని మరి విశేషముగా కోరుచున్నాను. సంఘము క్షేమాభివృద్ధి పొందునిమిత్తము భాషలతో మాట లాడువాడు అర్థము చెప్పితేనేగాని వానికంటె ప్రవచించువాడే శ్రేష్ఠుడు.

5. Howbeit I wish you all to speak with tongues, but, rather, that ye may prophesy, moreover, greater, is he that prophesieth, than he that speaketh with tongues, unless indeed he translate, that, the assembly, may receive upbuilding.

6. సహోదరులారా, ఆలోచించుడి; భాషలతో మాటలాడుచు నేను మీయొద్దకు వచ్చి సత్యమును బయలు పరచవలెననియైనను జ్ఞానోపదేశము చేయ వలెనని యైనను ప్రవచింపవలెననియైనను బోధింపవలెనని యైనను మీతో మాటలాడకపోయిన యెడల, నావలన మీకు ప్రయోజనమేమి?

6. But, now, brethren if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit, you, except I speak, unto you, either by way of revelation, or knowledge, or prophesying, or teaching?

7. పిల్లనగ్రోవి గాని వీణ గాని, నిర్జీవ వస్తువులు నాదమిచ్చునప్పుడు, స్వరములలో భేదము కలుగజేయనియెడల, ఊదినదేదో మీటినదేదో యేలాగు తెలియును?

7. In like manner, the things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, if, a distinction in the sounds, they do not give, how shall it be known, what is being piped or harped?

8. మరియు బూర స్పష్టముకాని ధ్వని ఇచ్చు నప్పుడు యుద్ధమునకెవడు సిద్ధపడును?

8. For, if also, an uncertain sound, a trumpet, should give, who shall prepare himself for battle?

9. ఆలాగే మీరు స్పష్టమైన మాటలు నాలుకతో పలికితేనేగాని పలికినది ఏలాగు తెలియును? మీరు గాలితో మాటలాడు చున్నట్టుందురు.

9. So, also, ye, through means of the tongue, except ye give intelligible discourse, how shall it be known what is being spoken? for ye will be speaking, to the air.

10. లోకమందు ఎన్నో విధములగు భాషలున్నను వాటిలో ఒకటైనను స్పష్టముకానిదై యుండదు.

10. There may happen to be so many kinds of languages in the world, and, not one, unspoken:

11. మాటల అర్థము నాకు తెలియకుండిన యెడల మాటలాడు వానికి నేను పరదేశినిగా ఉందును, మాటలాడువాడు నాకు పరదేశిగా ఉండును.

11. If, then, I do not know the meaning of the language, I shall be, unto him that is speaking, a foreigner, and, he that is speaking, shall be, in my case, a foreigner.

12. మీరు ఆత్మసంబంధమైన వరముల విషయమై ఆసక్తిగలవారు గనుక సంఘమునకు క్షేమాభివృద్ధి కలుగునిమిత్తము అవి మీకు విస్తరించునట్లు ప్రయత్నము చేయుడి.

12. So, ye, also since ye are, envious, of spirits, unto the upbuilding of the assembly, seek to be pre-eminent.

13. భాషతో మాటలాడువాడు అర్థము చెప్పు శక్తికలుగుటకై ప్రార్థనచేయవలెను.

13. Wherefore, he that speaketh with a tongue, let him pray that he may translate;

14. నేను భాషతో ప్రార్థన చేసినయెడల నా ఆత్మ ప్రార్థనచేయును గాని నా మనస్సు ఫలవంతముగా ఉండదు.

14. For , if I am praying in a tongue, my spirit, is praying, but, my mind, is unfruitful.

15. కాబట్టి ఆత్మతో ప్రార్థన చేతును, మనస్సుతోను ప్రార్థన చేతును; ఆత్మతో పాడుదును, మనస్సుతోను పాడుదును.

15. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, but I will pray also with the mind, I will strike the strings with the spirit, but I will strike the strings also with the mind.

16. లేనియెడల నీవు ఆత్మతో స్తోత్రము చేసినప్పుడు ఉపదేశము పొందనివాడు నీవు చెప్పుదానిని గ్రహింపలేడు గనుక, నీవు కృతజ్ఞతాస్తుతులు చెల్లించినప్పుడు ఆమేన్‌ అని వాడేలాగు పలుకును?

16. Else, if thou be blessing in a spirit, he that filleth up the place of the ungifted person, how shall he say the Amen upon thy thanksgiving? since indeed, what thou art saying, he knoweth not;

17. నీవైతే బాగుగానే కృతజ్ఞతాస్తుతులు చెల్లించుచున్నావు గాని యెదుటివాడు క్షేమాభివృద్ధి పొందడు.

17. For, thou, indeed, excellently art giving thanks, but, the other, is not being built up.

18. నేను మీ యందరికంటె ఎక్కువగా భాషలతో మాటలాడుచున్నాను; అందుకు దేవుని స్తుతించెదను.

18. I give thanks unto God! More than ye all, am I speaking with tongues;

19. అయినను సంఘములో భాషతో పదివేల మాటలు పలుకుటకంటె, ఇతరులకు బోధకలుగునట్లు నా మనస్సుతో అయిదు మాటలు పలుకుట మేలు.

19. But, in assembly, I desire to speak five words with my mind, that, others also, I may instruct, than myriads of words in a tongue.

20. సహోదరులారా, మీరు బుద్ధివిషయమై పసిపిల్లలు కాక దుష్టత్వము విషయమై శిశువులుగా ఉండుడి; బుద్ధి విషయమై పెద్దవారలై యుండుడి.

20. Brethren! do not become children, in your understandings; but, in baseness, become babes, while, in your understandings, ye become, full-grown.

21. అన్య భాషలు మాటలాడు జనులద్వారాను, పరజనుల పెదవులద్వారాను, ఈ జనులతో మాటలాడుదును; అప్పటికైనను వారు నా మాట వినకపోదురు అని ప్రభువు చెప్పుచున్నాడని ధర్మశాస్త్రములో వ్రాయ బడియున్నది.

21. In the law, it is written With strange tongues, and with lips of strangers, will I speak unto this people; and, not even so, will they hearken unto me, saith the Lord.

22. కాబట్టి భాషలు విశ్వాసులకు కాదు అవిశ్వాసులకే సూచకమైయున్నవి. ప్రవచించుట అవిశ్వాసులకు కాదు విశ్వాసులకే సూచకమై యున్నది.

22. So that, the tongues, are for a sign not unto them that believe, but, unto them that believe not; whereas, prophesying, is not for them that believe not, but, for them that believe.

23. సంఘమంతయు ఏకముగా కూడి అందరు భాషలతో మాటలాడుచుండగా, ఉపదేశము పొందనివారైనను అవి శ్వాసులైనను లోపలికి వచ్చినయెడల, మీరు వెఱ్ఱిమాట లాడుచున్నారని అనుకొందురు కదా?

23. If, then, the whole assembly come together with one consent, and, all, are speaking with tongues, and there come in persons unskilled or unbelieving, will they not say that ye are raving?

24. అయితే అందరు ప్రవచించుచుండగా అవిశ్వాసియైనను ఉపదేశము పొందని వాడైనను లోపలికి వచ్చినయెడల, అందరి బోధవలన తాను పాపినని గ్రహించి, అందరివలన విమర్శింపబడును.

24. But, if, all, be prophesying, and there come in one who is unbelieving or unskilled, he is convicted by all, he is searched by all, the secrets of his heart, become manifest,

25. అప్పుడతని హృదయరహస్యములు బయలుపడును. ఇందు వలన దేవుడు నిజముగా మీలో ఉన్నాడని ప్రచురముచేయుచు అతడు సాగిలపడి దేవునికి నమస్కారము చేయును.

25. And, so, falling down upon his face, he will do homage unto God, reporting that, in reality, God is, among you.

26. సహోదరులారా, యిప్పుడు మీలో ఏమి జరుగు చున్నది? మీరు కూడి వచ్చునప్పుడు ఒకడు ఒక కీర్తన పాడవలెనని యున్నాడు; మరియొకడు బోధింపవలెనని యున్నాడు; మరియొకడు తనకు బయలు పరచబడినది ప్రకటనచేయవలెనని యున్నాడు; మరియొకడు భాషతో మాటలాడవలెనని యున్నాడు; మరియొకడు అర్థము చెప్ప వలెనని యున్నాడు. సరే; సమస్తమును క్షేమాభివృద్ధి కలుగుటకై జరుగనియ్యుడి.

26. What, then, is it, brethren? Whensoever ye are coming together, each one, hath a psalm, hath a teaching, hath a revelation, hath a tongue, hath a translation: let, all things, be done, unto building up.

27. భాషతో ఎవడైనను మాటలాడితే, ఇద్దరు అవసరమైన యెడల ముగ్గురికి మించకుండ, వంతులచొప్పున మాటలాడవలెను, ఒకడు అర్థము చెప్ప వలెను.

27. If, with a tongue, one is speaking, let it be by two, or, at the most, three, and by turns; and let, one, be translating;

28. అర్థము చెప్పువాడు లేనియెడల అతడు సంఘములో మౌనముగా ఉండవలెను గాని, తనతోను దేవునితోను మాటలాడుకొనవచ్చును.

28. But, if there be none to translate, let him keep silence in assembly, and, unto himself, be speaking, and, unto God!

29. ప్రవక్తలు ఇద్దరు ముగ్గురు మాటలాడవచ్చును; తక్కినవారు వివేచింపవలెను.

29. Prophets, moreover, let two or three speak, and let, the others, judge.

30. అయితే కూర్చున్న మరి యొకనికి ఏదైనను బయలు పరచబడిన యెడల మొదటివాడు మౌనముగా ఉండవలెను.

30. If, however, unto another, a revelation be made, as he is sitting, let the first be silent;

31. అందరు నేర్చుకొనునట్లును అందరు హెచ్చరిక పొందునట్లును మీరందరు ఒకని తరువాత ఒకడు ప్రవచింపవచ్చును.

31. For, one by one, ye can, all, be prophesying, that, all, may learn, and, all, be encouraged.

32. మరియు ప్రవక్తల ఆత్మలు ప్రవక్తల స్వాధీనములో ఉన్నవి.

32. And, spirits of prophets, unto prophets, do submit themselves;

33. ఆలాగే పరిశుద్ధుల సంఘము లన్నిటిలో దేవుడు సమాధానమునకే కర్త గాని అల్లరికి కర్త కాడు.

33. For God is not a God of confusion, but, of peace: as in all the assemblies of the saints.

34. స్త్రీలు సంఘములలో మౌనముగా ఉండవలెను; వారు లోబడియుండవలసినదే గాని, మాటలాడుటకు వారికి సెలవు లేదు. ఈలాగు ధర్మశాస్త్రమును చెప్పుచున్నది.

34. As for the women, in the assemblies, let them be silent, for it is not permitted them to be speaking; but let them be in submission, even as, the law, saith.

35. వారు ఏమైనను నేర్చుకొనగోరిన యెడల, ఇంట తమ తమ భర్తల నడుగవలెను; సంఘములో స్త్రీ మాటలాడుట అవమానము.

35. If, however, they are wishing to learn something, at home, their own husbands, let them question; for it is a shame for a woman to be speaking in assembly.

36. దేవుని వాక్యము మీ యొద్ద నుండియే బయలువెళ్లెనా? మీయొద్దకు మాత్రమే వచ్చెనా?

36. Or, from you, did the word of God come forth? Or, unto you alone, did it extend?

37. ఎవడైనను తాను ప్రవక్తననియైనను ఆత్మసంబంధినని యైనను తలంచుకొనిన యెడల, నేను మీకు వ్రాయుచున్నవి ప్రభువుయొక్క ఆజ్ఞలని అతడు దృఢముగా తెలిసికొనవలెను.

37. If anyone thinketh himself to be a prophet, or spiritually gifted, let him acknowledge the things which I am writing to you, that they are, a commandment, of the Lord.

38. ఎవడైనను తెలియని వాడైతే తెలియని వాడుగానే యుండనిమ్ము.

38. But, if anyone knoweth not, he is unknown!

39. కాబట్టి నా సహోదరులారా, ప్రవచించుట ఆసక్తితో అపేక్షించుడి, భాషలతో మాటలాడుట ఆటంకపరచకుడి గాని,

39. So, then, my brethren, be zealous to prophesy, and do not forbid, to be speaking with tongues;

40. సమస్తమును మర్యాదగాను క్రమముగాను జరుగ నియ్యుడి.

40. But let, all things, with comeliness, and by arrangement, be done.
