1. అపొల్లో కొరింథులో నున్నప్పుడు జరిగినదేమనగా, పౌలు పైప్రదేశములలో సంచరించి ఎఫెసునకు వచ్చికొందరు శిష్యులను చూచిమీరు విశ్వసించినప్పుడు పరిశుద్ధాత్మను పొందితిరా? అని వారి నడుగగా

1. And it came to passe, yt whyle Apollo was at Corinth, Paul passed through the vpper coastes, and came to Ephesus, and founde certaine disciples,

2. వారు పరిశుద్ధాత్ముడున్నాడన్న సంగతియే మేము వినలేదని చెప్పిరి.

2. And sayde vnto them: Haue ye receaued the holy ghost sence ye beleued? And they saide vnto hym: We haue not hearde whether there be any holy ghost or no.

3. అప్పుడతడు ఆలాగైతే మీరు దేనినిబట్టి బాప్తిస్మము పొందితిరని అడుగగా వారు యోహాను బాప్తిస్మమునుబట్టియే అని చెప్పిరి.

3. And he sayde vnto them: Unto what then were ye baptized? And they sayde: vnto Iohns baptisme.

4. అందుకు పౌలు యోహాను తన వెనుక వచ్చువానియందు, అనగా యేసు నందు విశ్వాసముంచవలెనని ప్రజలతో చెప్పుచు, మారు మనస్సు విషయమైన బాప్తిస్మమిచ్చెనని చెప్పెను.

4. Then sayde Paul: Iohn veryly baptized with the baptisme of repentaunce, saying vnto the people, that they should beleue on hym which shoulde come after hym, that is, on Christe Iesus.

5. వారు ఆ మాటలు విని ప్రభువైన యేసు నామమున బాప్తిస్మము పొందిరి.

5. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lorde Iesu.

6. తరువాత పౌలు వారిమీద చేతులుంచగా పరిశుద్ధాత్మ వారిమీదికి వచ్చెను. అప్పుడు వారు భాషలతో మాటలాడుటకును ప్రవచించుటకును మొదలుపెట్టిరి.

6. And whe Paul had layde his handes vpon them, the holy ghost came on the, and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

7. వారందరు ఇంచుమించు పండ్రెండుగురు పురుషులు.

7. And all the men were about twelue.

8. తరువాత అతడు సమాజమందిరములోనికి వెళ్లి ప్రసంగించుచు, దేవుని రాజ్యమును గూర్చి తర్కించుచు, ఒప్పించుచు, ధైర్యముగా మాటలాడుచు మూడు నెలలు గడిపెను.

8. And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldlye for the space of three monethes, disputyng & perswadyng those thynges that appertayne to the kyngdome of God.

9. అయితే కొందరు కఠినపరచబడినవారై యొప్పుకొనక, జనసమూహము ఎదుట ఈ మార్గమును దూషించుచున్నందున అతడు వారిని విడిచి, శిష్యులను ప్రత్యేకపరచుకొని ప్రతిదినము తురన్ను అను ఒకని పాఠశాలలో తర్కించుచు వచ్చెను.

9. But when diuers waxed harde hearted, and beleued not, but spake euyll of the way [of the Lorde) and that before the multitude, he departed from them, & seperated ye disciples. And he disputed dayly in the scoole of one called Tyrannus.

10. రెండేండ్లవరకు ఈలాగున జరిగెను గనుక యూదులేమి గ్రీసుదేశస్థులేమి ఆసియలో కాపురమున్న వారందరును ప్రభువు వాక్యము వినిరి.

10. And this continued by the space of two yeres, so that all they whiche dwelt in Asia, hearde the worde of the Lord Iesu, both Iewes and Grekes.

11. మరియు దేవుడు పౌలుచేత విశేషమైన అద్భుతములను చేయించెను;

11. And God wrought speciall miracles by the handes of Paul.

12. అతని శరీరమునకు తగిలిన చేతి గుడ్డలైనను నడికట్లయినను రోగులయొద్దకు తెచ్చినప్పుడు రోగములు వారిని విడిచెను, దయ్యములు కూడ వదలి పోయెను.

12. So that from his body, were brought vnto the sicke, napkins, and partlettes, and the diseases departed from them, & the euyll spirites went out of them.

13. అప్పుడు దేశసంచారులును మాంత్రికులునైన కొందరు యూదులుపౌలు ప్రకటించు యేసు తోడు మిమ్మును ఉచ్చాటన చేయుచున్నానను మాట చెప్పి, దయ్యములు పట్టినవారిమీద ప్రభువైన యేసు నామమును ఉచ్చరించుటకు పూనుకొనిరి.

13. Then certaine of the vagabounde Iewes, exorcistes, toke vpon them to call ouer them which had euyll spirites, the name of the Lorde Iesus, saying: We adiure you by Iesus, whom Paul preacheth.

14. యూదుడైన స్కెవయను ఒక ప్రధానయాజకుని కుమారులు ఏడుగురు ఆలాగు చేయుచుండిరి.

14. And there were seuen sonnes of one Sceua a Iewe, and chiefe of ye priestes, which dyd so.

15. అందుకు ఆ దయ్యము నేను యేసును గుర్తెరుగుదును, పౌలునుకూడ ఎరుగుదును, గాని మీరెవరని అడుగగా

15. And the euyll spirite aunswered, and sayde, Iesus I knowe, and Paul I knowe: but who are ye?

16. ఆ దయ్యముపట్టినవాడు ఎగిరి, వారిమీద పడి, వారిలో ఇద్దరిని లొంగదీసి గెలిచెను; అందుచేత వారు దిగంబరులై గాయము తగిలి ఆ యింటనుండి పారిపోయిరి.

16. And the man in whom the euyll spirite was, ran on them, & ouercame the, & preuayled agaynst them, so that they fled out of that house naked & wouded.

17. ఈ సంగతి ఎఫెసులో కాపురమున్న సమస్తమైన యూదు లకును గ్రీసు దేశస్థులకును తెలియవచ్చినప్పుడు వారికందరికి భయము కలిగెను గనుక ప్రభువైన యేసు నామము ఘనపరచబడెను.

17. And this was knowen to all ye Iewes & Grekes also which dwelt at Ephesus, and feare came on them all, & the name of the Lorde Iesus was magnified.

18. విశ్వసించినవారు అనేకులు వచ్చి, తాము చేసినవాటిని తెలియజేసియొప్పుకొనిరి.

18. And many that beleued, came & confessed, and shewed their workes.

19. మరియు మాంత్రిక విద్య అభ్యసించినవారు అనేకులు తమ పుస్తకములు తెచ్చి, అందరియెదుట వాటిని కాల్చివేసిరి. వారు లెక్క చూడగా వాటి వెల యేబదివేల వెండి రూకలాయెను.

19. Many also of the whiche vsed curious craftes, brought their bookes, & burned them before all men, and they counted the price of them, & founde it fiftie thousande peeces of syluer.

20. ఇంత ప్రభావముతో ప్రభువు వాక్యము ప్రబలమై వ్యాపించెను.

20. So myghtyly grew the word of God, and preuayled.

21. ఈలాగు జరిగిన తరువాత పౌలు మాసిదోనియ అకయ దేశముల మార్గమునవచ్చి యెరూషలేమునకు వెళ్లవలెనని మన స్సులో ఉద్దేశించి నేనక్కడికి వెళ్లిన తరువాత రోమాకూడ చూడవలెనని అనుకొనెను.

21. After these thinges were ended, Paul purposed in the spirite, when he had passed ouer Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Hierusalem, saying: After I haue ben there, I must also see Rome.

22. అప్పుడు తనకు పరిచర్యచేయు వారిలో తిమోతి ఎరస్తు అను వారి నిద్దరిని మాసిదోనియకు పంపి, తాను ఆసియలో కొంతకాలము నిలిచియుండెను.

22. So sent he into Macedonia two of them that ministred vnto hym, Timotheus and Erastus, but he hym selfe remayned in Asia for a season.

23. ఆ కాలమందు క్రీస్తు మార్గమునుగూర్చి చాల అల్లరి కలిగెను.

23. And the same time there arose no litle a do about that way.

24. ఏలాగనగా దేమేత్రియను ఒక కంసాలి అర్తెమిదేవికి వెండి గుళ్లను చేయించుటవలన ఆ పని వారికి మిగుల లాభము కలుగజేయుచుండెను.

24. For a certaine man, named Demetrius, a syluer smyth, which made shrines for Diana, was not a litle beneficiall vnto the craftes men.

25. అతడు వారిని అట్టి పనిచేయు ఇతరులను గుంపుకూర్చి అయ్యలారా, యీ పనివలన మనకు జీవనము బహు బాగుగా జరుగు చున్నదని మీకు తెలియును.

25. Whom he called together, with the workemen of like occupation, and sayde: Sirs, ye knowe that by this craft we haue aduauntage.

26. అయితే చేతులతో చేయబడినవి దేవతలు కావని యీ పౌలు చెప్పి, ఎఫెసులో మాత్రము కాదు, దాదాపు ఆసియయందంతట బహు జనమును ఒప్పించి, త్రిప్పియున్న సంగతి మీరు చూచియు వినియు నున్నారు.

26. Moreouer, ye see and heare, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath perswaded and turned away much people, saying that they be not gods which are made with handes.

27. మరియు ఈ మన వృత్తియందు లక్ష్యము తప్పిపోవుటయే గాక, మహాదేవియైన అర్తెమి దేవియొక్క గుడి కూడ తృణీకరింపబడి, ఆసియయందంతటను భూలోకమందును పూజింపబడుచున్న ఈమెయొక్క గొప్పతనము తొలగిపోవునని భయముతోచుచున్నదని వారితో చెప్పెను.

27. So that not only this our craft commeth into peryll to be set at naught, but also that the temple of ye great goddesse Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the worlde worshippeth.

28. వారు విని రౌద్రముతో నిండిన వారై ఎఫెసీయుల అర్తెమిదేవి మహాదేవి అని కేకలువేసిరి;

28. And when they hearde these sayinges, they were full of wrath, and cryed out, saying: great is Diana of ye Ephesians.

29. పట్టణము బహు గలిబిలిగా ఉండెను. మరియు వారు పౌలుతో ప్రయాణమై వచ్చిన మాసిదోనియ వారైన గాయియును అరిస్తర్కును పట్టుకొని దొమ్మిగా నాటకశాలలో చొరబడిరి.

29. And all the citie was on a rore, & they russhed into the common hall with one assent, and caught Gaius & Aristarcus, men of Macedonia, Paules companions.

30. పౌలు జనుల సభ యొద్దకు వెళ్లదలచెను, గాని శిష్యులు వెళ్లనియ్యలేదు.

30. When Paule woulde haue entred in vnto ye people, the disciples suffred hym not.

31. మరియు ఆసియ దేశాధికారులలో కొందరు అతనికి స్నేహితులైయుండి అతనియొద్దకు వర్తమానము పంపినీవు నాటక శాలలోనికి వెళ్లవద్దని అతని వేడుకొనిరి.

31. But certaine of ye chiefe of Asia, which were his friendes, sent vnto hym, desiryng hym that he would not preasse into the common hall.

32. ఆ సభ గలిబిలిగా ఉండెను గనుక కొందరీలాగున, కొందరాలాగున కేకలువేసిరి; తామెందు నిమిత్తము కూడుకొనిరో చాల మందికి తెలియలేదు.

32. Some therfore cryed one thyng, and some another, and the assemblie was all out of quiet, and the more part knew not wherfore they were come together.

33. అప్పుడు యూదులు అలెక్సంద్రును ముందుకు త్రోయగా కొందరు సమూహములో నుండి అతనిని ఎదుటికి తెచ్చిరి. అలెక్సంద్రు సైగచేసి జనులతో సమాధానము చెప్పుకొనవలెనని యుండెను.

33. And they drewe Alexander out of the multitude, the Iewes thrustyng hym forwardes. And Alexander beckened with the hande, and would haue geuen the people an aunswere.

34. అయితే అతడు యూదుడని వారు తెలిసికొనినప్పుడు అందరును ఏకశబ్దముతో రెండు గంటలసేపు ఎఫెసీయుల అర్తెమిదేవి మహాదేవి అని కేకలువేసిరి.

34. But when they knewe that he was a Iewe, there arose a shoute almost for the space of two houres, of all men, crying: great is Diana of the Ephesians.

35. అంతట కరణము సమూహమును సముదాయించి ఎఫెసీయులారా, ఎఫెసీయుల పట్టణము అర్తెమి మహాదేవికిని ద్యుపతియొద్దనుండి పడిన మూర్తికిని పాలకురాలై యున్నదని తెలియని వాడెవడు?

35. And when the towne clarke had pacified the people, he sayde: Ye men of Ephesus, what man is it that knoweth not how that the citie of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddesse Diana, and of the [image] whiche came downe from Iupiter?

36. ఈ సంగతులు నిరాక్షేపమైనవి గనుక మీరు శాంతము కలిగి ఏదియు ఆతురపడి చేయకుండుట అవశ్యకము.

36. Seing then that these thinges can not be spoken against, ye ought to be contet, and to do nothyng rasshely.

37. మీరు ఈ మనుష్యులను తీసికొనివచ్చితిరి. వీరు గుడి దోచినవారు కారు, మన దేవతను దూషింపను లేదు.

37. For ye haue brought hyther these men, which are neither robbers of Churches nor yet despisers of your goddesse.

38. దేమేత్రికిని అతనితోకూడనున్న కమసాలులకును ఎవని మీదనైనను వ్యవహారమేదైన ఉన్నయెడల న్యాయసభలు జరుగుచున్నవి, అధిపతులు ఉన్నారు గనుక వారు ఒకరితో ఒకరు వ్యాజ్యె మాడవచ్చును.

38. Wherfore, yf Demetrius & the craftes men which are with hym, haue a matter agaynst any man, the lawe is open, and there are deputies, let them accuse one another.

39. అయితే మీరు ఇతర సంగతులనుగూర్చి యేమైనను విచారణ చేయవలెనని యుంటే అదిక్రమమైన సభలో పరిష్కారమగును.

39. But yf ye inquire any thyng concernyng other matters, it shalbe determined in a lawfull assemblie.

40. మనము ఈ గలిబిలినిగూర్చి చెప్పదగిన కారణమేమియు లేనందున, నేడు జరిగిన అల్లరినిగూర్చి మనలను విచారణ లోనికి తెత్తురేమో అని భయమవుచున్నది. ఇట్లు గుంపు కూడినందుకు తగిన కారణము చెప్పజాలమని వారితో అనెను.

40. For we are in ieopardie to be accused of this dayes vprore, forasmuch as there is no cause, wherby we may geue a reckenyng of this concourse of people.

41. అతడీలాగు చెప్పి సభను ముగించెను.

41. And when he had thus spoken, he let the assemblie depart.
