1. ఆ సమయమందు చతుర్థాధిపతియైన హేరోదు యేసునుగూర్చిన సమాచారము విని

1. At that season Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Jesus,

2. ఇతడు బాప్తిస్మమిచ్చు యోహాను; అతడు మృతులలోనుండి లేచి యున్నాడు; అందువలననే అద్భుతములు అతనియందు క్రియారూపకములగుచున్నవని తన సేవకులతో చెప్పెను.

2. and said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore do these powers work in him.

3. ఏలయనగానీవు నీ సోదరుడైన ఫిలిప్పు భార్యయగు హేరోదియను ఉంచుకొనుట న్యాయము కాదని యోహాను చెప్పగా,

3. For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip�s wife.

4. హేరోదు ఆమె నిమిత్తము యోహానును పట్టుకొని బంధించి చెరసాలలో వేయించి యుండెను.

4. For John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her.

5. అతడు ఇతని చంపగోరెను గాని జనసమూహము ఇతనిని ప్రవక్తయని యెంచినందున వారికి భయపడెను.

5. And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.

6. అయితే హేరోదు జన్మదినోత్సవము వచ్చినప్పుడు హేరోదియ కుమార్తె వారిమధ్య నాట్యమాడి హేరోదును సంతోష పరచెను

6. But when Herod�s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced in the midst, and pleased Herod.

7. గనుకఆమె ఏమి అడిగినను ఇచ్చెదనని అతడు ప్రమాణపూర్వకముగా వాగ్దానము చేసెను.

7. Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she should ask.

8. అప్పుడామె తనతల్లిచేత ప్రేరేపింపబడినదై బాప్తిస్మమిచ్చు యోహాను తలను ఇక్కడ పళ్లెములో పెట్టి నా కిప్పించుమని యడిగెను.

8. And she, being put forward by her mother, saith, Give me here in a charger the head of John the Baptist.

9. రాజు దుఃఖపడినను తాను చేసిన ప్రమాణము నిమిత్తమును, తనతో కూడ భోజనమునకు కూర్చున్నవారి నిమిత్తమును ఇయ్యనాజ్ఞాపించి

9. And the king was grieved; but for the sake of his oaths, and of them which sat at meat with him, he commanded it to be given;

10. బంట్రౌతును పంపి చెరసాలలో యోహాను తల గొట్టించెను.

10. and he sent, and beheaded John in the prison.

11. వాడతని తల పళ్లెములోపెట్టి తెచ్చి ఆ చిన్నదానికిచ్చెను; ఆమె తన తల్లియొద్దకు దాని తీసికొని వచ్చెను.

11. And his head was brought in a charger, and given to the damsel: and she brought it to her mother.

12. అంతట యోహాను శిష్యులు వచ్చి శవమును ఎత్తికొనిపోయి పాతి పెట్టి యేసునొద్దకువచ్చి తెలియజేసిరి.

12. And his disciples came, and took up the corpse, and buried him; and they went and told Jesus.

13. యేసు ఆ సంగతి విని దోనె యెక్కి, అక్కడనుండి అరణ్యప్రదేశమునకు ఏకాంతముగా వెళ్లెను. జనసమూహములు ఆ సంగతి విని, పట్టణములనుండి కాలినడకను ఆయనవెంట వెళ్లిరి.

13. Now when Jesus heard {cf15i it}, he withdrew from thence in a boat, to a desert place apart: and when the multitudes heard {cf15i thereof}, they followed him on foot from the cities.

14. ఆయన వచ్చి ఆ గొప్ప సమూహమును చూచి, వారిమీద కనికరపడి, వారిలో రోగులైన వారిని స్వస్థపరచెను.

14. And he came forth, and saw a great multitude, and he had compassion on them, and healed their sick.

15. సాయంకాలమైనప్పుడు శిష్యు లాయనయొద్దకు వచ్చిఇది అరణ్యప్రదేశము, ఇప్పటికే ప్రొద్దుపోయెను, ఈ జనులు గ్రామములలోనికి వెళ్లి భోజనపదార్థములు కొనుక్కొనుటకై వారిని పంపివేయమని చెప్పిరి.

15. And when even was come, the disciples came to him, saying, The place is desert, and the time is already past; send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food.

16. యేసువారు వెళ్లనక్కరలేదు, మీరే వారికి భోజనము పెట్టుడని వారితో చెప్పగా

16. But Jesus said unto them, They have no need to go away; give ye them to eat.

17. వారు ఇక్కడ మనయొద్ద అయిదు రొట్టెలును రెండు చేపలును తప్ప మరేమియు లేదని ఆయనతో చెప్పిరి.

17. And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

18. అందు కాయన వాటిని నాయొద్దకు తెండని చెప్పి

18. And he said, Bring them hither to me.

19. పచ్చికమీద కూర్చుండుడని జనులకాజ్ఞాపించి, ఆ అయిదు రొట్టెలను రెండు చేపలను పట్టుకొని ఆకాశమువైపు కన్నులెత్తి ఆశీర్వదించి ఆ రొట్టెలు విరిచి శిష్యులకిచ్చెను, శిష్యులు జనులకు వడ్డించిరి.

19. And he commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.

20. వారందరు తిని తృప్తిపొందిన తరువాత మిగిలిన ముక్కలు పండ్రెండు గంపల నిండ ఎత్తిరి

20. And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up that which remained over of the broken pieces, twelve baskets full.

21. స్త్రీలును పిల్లలును గాక తినినవారు ఇంచుమించు అయిదు వేలమంది పురుషులు.

21. And they that did eat were about five thousand men, beside women an children.

22. వెంటనే ఆ జనసమూహములను తాను పంపివేయునంతలో తన శిష్యులు దోనె యెక్కి తనకంటె ముందుగా అద్దరికి వెళ్లవలెనని ఆయన వారిని బలవంతము చేసెను.

22. And straightway he constrained the disciples to enter into the boat, and to go before him unto the other side, till he should send the multitudes away.

23. ఆయన ఆ జనసమూహములను పంపివేసి, ప్రార్థనచేయుటకు ఏకాంతముగా కొండయెక్కి పోయి, సాయంకాలమైనప్పుడు ఒంటరిగా ఉండెను.

23. And after he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into the mountain apart to pray: and when even was come, he was there alone.

24. అప్పటికాదోనె దరికి దూరముగనుండగా గాలి యెదురైనందున అలలవలన కొట్ట బడుచుండెను.

24. But the boat was now in the midst of the sea, distressed by the waves; for the wind was contrary.

25. రాత్రి నాలుగవ జామున ఆయన సముద్రముమీద నడుచుచు వారియొద్దకు వచ్చెను

25. And in the fourth watch of the night he came unto them, walking upon the sea.

26. ఆయన సముద్రముమీద నడుచుట శిష్యులు చూచి తొందరపడి, భూతమని చెప్పుకొని భయముచేత కేకలువేసిరి.

26. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is an apparition; and they cried out for fear.

27. వెంటనే యేసుధైర్యము తెచ్చుకొనుడి; నేనే, భయపడకుడనివారితో చెప్పగా

27. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

28. పేతురు ప్రభువా, నీవే అయితే నీళ్లమీద నడిచి నీయొద్దకు వచ్చుటకు నాకు సెలవిమ్మని ఆయనతో అనెను.

28. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee upon the waters.

29. ఆయన రమ్మనగానే పేతురు దోనెదిగి యేసునొద్దకు వెళ్లుటకు నీళ్లమీద నడచెను గాని

29. And he said, Come. And Peter went down from the boat, and walked upon the waters, to come to Jesus.

30. గాలిని చూచి భయపడి మునిగిపోసాగి-ప్రభువా, నన్ను రక్షించుమని కేకలువేసెను.

30. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, Lord, save me.

31. వెంటనే యేసు చెయ్యిచాపి అతని పట్టుకొని అల్పవిశ్వాసీ, యెందుకు సందేహపడితివని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

31. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and took hold of him, and saith unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

32. వారు దోనె యెక్కినప్పుడు గాలి అణిగెను.

32. And when they were gone up into the boat, the wind ceased.

33. అంతట దోనెలో నున్నవారు వచ్చినీవు నిజముగా దేవుని కుమారుడవని చెప్పి ఆయనకు మ్రొక్కిరి.
యెహోషువ 5:14-15

33. And they that were in the boat worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

34. వారద్దరికి వెళ్లి గెన్నేసరెతు దేశమునకు వచ్చిరి.

34. And when they had crossed over, they came to the land, unto Gennesaret.

35. అక్కడి జనులు ఆయనను గుర్తుపట్టి, చుట్టుపట్లనున్న ఆ ప్రదేశమంతటికి వర్తమానము పంపి, రోగులనందరిని ఆయన యొద్దకు తెప్పించి

35. And when the men of that place knew him, they sent into all that region round about, and brought unto him all that were sick;

36. వీరిని నీ వస్త్రపుచెంగు మాత్రము ముట్టనిమ్మని ఆయనను వేడుకొనిరి; ముట్టినవారందరును స్వస్థతనొందిరి.

36. and they besought him that they might only touch the border of his garment: and as many as touched were made whole.
