3. Moshe said to the people, 'Equip men from among yourselves for war. They are to go and fight Midyan, in order to carry out ADONAI's vengeance on Midyan.

4. ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల గోత్రములన్నిటిలోను ప్రతి గోత్రములోనుండి వేయేసిమందిని ఆ యుద్ధమునకు పంపవలె ననెను.

4. You are to send to the war a thousand men from every one of Isra'el's tribes.'

5. అట్లు గోత్రమొక్కంటికి వేయిమంది చొప్పున, ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల సేనలలో నుండి పండ్రెండు వేల యుద్ధ వీరులు ఏర్పరచబడగా

5. So out of the thousands of people in Isra'el, a thousand armed men from each tribe, 12,000 altogether, were mustered for war.

6. మోషే వారిని, అనగా ప్రతి గోత్రమునుండి వేయేసి మందిని, యాజకుడగు ఎలియాజరు కుమారుడైన ఫీనెహాసును పంపెను. అతని చేతిలోని పరిశుద్ధమైన ఉపకరణములను ఊదుటకు బూరలను యుద్ధమునకు పంపెను.

6. Moshe sent them, a thousand from each tribe, to the war; he sent them and Pinchas the son of El'azar the [cohen] to the war, with the holy utensils and the trumpets for sounding the alarm in his care.

7. యెహోవా మోషేకు ఆజ్ఞాపించినట్లు వారు మిద్యానీయులతో యుద్ధముచేసి మగవారినందరిని చంపిరి.

7. They fought against Midyan, as ADONAI had ordered Moshe, and killed every male.

8. చంపబడిన యితరులుగాక మిద్యానురాజులను, అనగా మిద్యాను అయిదుగురు రాజులైన ఎవీని, రేకెమును, సూరును, హూరును, రేబను చంపిరి. బెయోరు కుమారుడైన బిలామును ఖడ్గముతో చంపిరి.

8. They killed the kings of Midyan along with the others who were slain- Evi, Rekem, Tzur, Hur and Reva, the five kings of Midyan. They also killed Bil'am the son of B'or with the sword.

9. అప్పుడు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు మిద్యాను స్త్రీలను వారి చిన్న పిల్లలను చెరపట్టుకొని, వారి సమస్త పశువులను వారి గొఱ్ఱె మేకలన్నిటిని వారికి కలిగినది యావత్తును దోచుకొనిరి.

9. The people of Isra'el took captive the women of Midyan and their little ones, and they took as booty all their cattle, flocks and other goods.

10. మరియు వారి నివాస పట్టణములన్నిటిని వారి కోటలన్నిటిని అగ్నిచేత కాల్చివేసిరి.

10. They set fire to all their cities in the areas where they lived and all their camps.

11. They took all the booty, all the people and animals they had captured,

12. and brought the captives, booty and spoil to Moshe, El'azar the [cohen] and the community of Isra'el in the camp on the plains of Mo'av by the Yarden across from Yericho.

13. మోషేయు యాజకుడైన ఎలియాజరును సమాజ ప్రధానులందరును వారిని ఎదుర్కొనుటకు పాళెములోనుండి వెలుపలికి వెళ్లిరి.

13. Moshe, El'azar the [cohen] and all the community leaders went to meet them outside the camp.

14. అప్పుడు మోషే యుద్ధసేనలోనుండి వచ్చిన సహస్రాధిపతులును శతాధిపతులునగు సేనానాయకులమీద కోపపడెను.

14. But Moshe was angry with the army officers, the commanders of thousands and the commanders of hundreds coming in from the battlefield.

15. మోషే వారితో మీరు ఆడువారినందరిని బ్రదుకనిచ్చితిరా?

15. Moshe asked them, 'You let the women live?

16. Why, these are the ones who- because of Bil'am's advice- caused the people of Isra'el to rebel, breaking faith with ADONAI in the P'or incident, so that the plague broke out among ADONAI's community!

17. కాబట్టి మీరు పిల్లలలో ప్రతి మగవానిని పురుషసంయోగము ఎరిగిన ప్రతి స్త్రీని చంపుడి;

17. Now kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has ever slept with a man.

18. పురుషసంయోగము ఎరుగని ప్రతి ఆడుపిల్లను మీ నిమిత్తము బ్రతుకనీయుడి.

18. But the young girls who have never slept with a man, keep alive for yourselves.

19. మీరు ఏడు దినములు పాళెము వెలుపల ఉండవలెను; మీలో నరుని చంపిన ప్రతివాడును చంపబడిన నరుని ముట్టిన ప్రతివాడును, మీరును మీరు చెరపట్టినవారును మూడవ దినమున ఏడవ దినమున మిమ్మును మీరే పవిత్ర పరచుకొనవలెను.

19. Pitch your tents outside the camp for seven days. Whoever has killed a person or touched the corpse of someone slain, purify yourselves on the third and seventh days, you and your captives.

20. మీరు బట్టలన్నిటిని చర్మ వస్తువులన్ని టిని మేక వెండ్రుకల వస్తువులన్నిటిని కొయ్య వస్తువులన్నిటిని పవిత్రపరచవలెననెను.

20. Also purify every garment, whether of skin or goat's hair, and everything made of wood.'

21. అప్పుడు యాజకుడగు ఎలి యాజరు యుద్ధమునకు పోయిన సైనికులతో యెహోవా మోషేకు ఆజ్ఞాపించిన విధియేదనగా

21. El'azar the [cohen] said to the soldiers who had gone to the front, 'This is the regulation from the [Torah] which ADONAI has ordered Moshe.

22. మీరు బంగారును వెండిని ఇత్తడిని ఇనుమును తగరమును సీసమును

22. Even though gold, silver, brass, iron, tin and lead

23. అనగా అగ్నిచేత చెడని సమస్త వస్తువులనుమాత్రము అగ్నిలో వేసి తీయవలెను; అప్పుడు అవి పవిత్రమగును. అయితే పాపపరిహార జలముచేతను వాటిని పవిత్ర పరచవలెను. అగ్నిచేత చెడునట్టి ప్రతి వస్తువును నీళ్లలో వేసి తీయవలెను.

23. can all withstand fire, so that you are indeed to purify everything made of these materials by having them pass through fire; nevertheless they must also be purified with the water for purification. Everything that can't withstand fire you are to have go through the water.

24. ఏడవ దినమున మీరు మీ బట్టలు ఉదుకుకొని పవిత్రులైన తరువాత పాళెములోనికి రావచ్చుననెను.

24. On the seventh day you are to wash your clothes, and you will be clean; after that you may enter the camp.'

25. మరియు యెహోవా మోషేకు ఈలాగుసెలవిచ్చెను.

25. ADONAI said to Moshe,

26. నీవును యాజకుడైన ఎలియాజరును సమాజముయొక్క పితరుల కుటుంబములలో ప్రధానులును మనుష్యులలో నేమి, పశువులలోనేమి, చెరపట్టబడిన దోపుడుసొమ్ము మొత్తమును లెక్కించి రెండు భాగములుగాచేసి

26. 'Take all the booty, both people and animals, you, El'azar the [cohen] and the leaders of clans in the community;

27. యుద్ధ మునకు పూనుకొని సేనగా బయలుదేరినవారికి సగమును సర్వసమాజమునకు సగమును పంచిపెట్టవలెను.

27. and divide the booty into two parts: half for the experienced soldiers who went out to battle, and half for the rest of the community.

28. మరియు సేనగా బయలు దేరిన యోధులమీద యెహోవాకు పన్ను కట్టి, ఆ మనుష్యులలోను పశువులలోను గాడిదలలోను గొఱ్ఱెమేకల లోను ఐదువందలకు ఒకటిచొప్పున వారి సగ ములోనుండి తీసికొని

28. From the portion of the soldiers who went out to battle, levy a tax for ADONAI consisting of one-five-hundredth of the persons, cattle, donkeys and sheep;

29. యెహోవాకు ప్రతిష్ఠార్పణముగా యాజకుడైన ఎలియాజరుకు ఇయ్యవలెను.

29. take it from their half and give it to El'azar the [cohen] as a portion set apart for ADONAI.

30. మనుష్యుల లోను పశువులలోను గాడిదలలోను గొఱ్ఱెమేకలలోను సమస్తవిధముల జంతువులలోను ఏబదింటికి ఒకటిచొప్పున, ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు సగములోనుండి తీసికొని యెహోవా మందిరమును కాపాడు లేవీయులకు ఇయ్యవలెను.

30. From the half that goes to the people of Isra'el, you are to take one-fiftieth of the persons, and of the cattle, donkeys and sheep, that is, of all the livestock; and give them to the [L'vi'im] taking care of the tabernacle of ADONAI.'

31. యెహోవా మోషేకు ఆజ్ఞాపించినట్లు మోషేయు యాజకుడైన ఎలియాజరును చేసిరి.

31. Moshe and El'azar the [cohen] did as ADONAI had ordered Moshe.

32. ఆ దోపుడుసొమ్ము, అనగా ఆ సైనికులు కొల్లబెట్టిన సొమ్ములో మిగిలినది

32. The booty, over and above the portion which the soldiers took, came to 675,000 sheep,

33. ఆరులక్షల డెబ్బదియయిదు గొఱ్ఱెమేకలును,

33. 72,000 cattle,

34. డెబ్బది రెండువేల పశువులును, అరువది యొక వేయి గాడిదలును,

34. 61,000 donkeys,

35. ముప్పది రెండు వేలమంది పురుష సంయోగమెరుగని స్త్రీలును,

35. and 32,000 persons in all, consisting of the women who had never slept with a man.

36. అందులో అరవంతు, అనగా సైన్యముగా పోయినవారి వంతు, గొఱ్ఱెమేకల లెక్కయెంతనగా మూడు లక్షల ముప్పది యేడువేల ఐదువందలు. ఆ గొఱ్ఱెమేకలలో యెహోవాకు చెల్లవలసిన పన్ను ఆరువందల డెబ్బది యయిదు, ఆ పశువులు ముప్పదియారువేలు.

36. The half which was the portion of the soldiers who went out to fight, numbered 337,500 sheep,

37. వాటిలో యెహోవా పన్ను డెబ్బదిరెండు.

37. of which ADONAI's tribute was 675;

38. ఆ గాడిదలు ముప్పది వేల ఐదువందలు,

38. 36,000 cattle, of which ADONAI's tribute was seventy-two;

39. వాటిలో యెహోవా పన్ను అరువది యొకటి.

39. 30,500 donkeys, of which ADONAI's tribute was sixty-one;

40. మనుష్యులు పదునారు వేలమంది. వారిలో యెహోవా పన్ను ముప్పది ఇద్దరు.

40. and 16,000 persons, of whom ADONAI's tribute was thirty-two persons.

41. యెహోవా మోషేకు ఆజ్ఞాపించినట్లు మోషే పన్నును, అనగా యెహోవాకు చెల్లవలసిన ప్రతిష్ఠార్పణమును యాజకుడైన ఎలియాజరున కిచ్చెను.

41. Moshe gave the tribute set apart for ADONAI to El'azar the [cohen], as ADONAI had ordered Moshe.

42. సైనికులయొద్ద మోషే తీసికొని ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల కిచ్చిన సగమునుండి లేవీయుల కిచ్చెను.

42. From the half that went to people of Isra'el, which Moshe separated from that of the men who had gone to fight-

43. మూడులక్షల ముప్పదియేడువేల ఐదువందల గొఱ్ఱెమేకలును

43. now the community's half consisted of 337,500 sheep,

44. ముప్పది ఆరువేల గోవులును ముప్పదివేల ఐదువందల గాడిదలును

44. 36,000 cattle,

45. పదునారువేల మంది మనుష్యులును సమాజమునకు కలిగిన సగమైయుండగా, మోషే

45. 30,500 donkeys

46. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు వచ్చిన ఆ సగమునుండి మనుష్యులలోను జంతువులలోను

46. and 16,000 persons-

47. ఏబదింటికి ఒకటిచొప్పున తీసి, యెహోవా మోషేకు ఆజ్ఞాపించినట్లు యెహోవా మందిరమును కాపాడు లేవీయుల కిచ్చెను.

47. from the people of Isra'el's half, Moshe took one-fiftieth of the persons and animals and gave them to the [L'vi'im] taking care of the tabernacle of ADONAI, as ADONAI had ordered Moshe.

48. అప్పుడు సేనా సహస్రముల నియామకులు, అనగా సహస్రాధిపతులును శతాధిపతులును మోషే యొద్దకు వచ్చి

48. The officers in charge of the thousands who fought, the commanders of thousands and the commanders of hundreds, approached Moshe

49. నీ సేవకులమైన మేము మా చేతిక్రింద నున్న యోధులను లెక్కించి మొత్తము చేసితివిు; మాలో ఒక్కడైనను మొత్తమునకు తక్కువ కాలేదు.

49. and said to him, 'Your servants have counted all the soldiers under our command, and not one of us is missing.

50. కాబట్టి యెహోవా సన్నిధిని మా నిమిత్తము ప్రాయశ్చిత్తము కలుగునట్లు మేము మాలో ప్రతిమనుష్యునికి దొరికిన బంగారు నగలను గొలుసులను కడియములను ఉంగరములను పోగులను పతకములను యెహోవాకు అర్పణముగా తెచ్చియున్నామని చెప్పగా

50. We have brought an offering for ADONAI, what every man has obtained in the way of gold jewelry- armlets, bracelets, signet rings, earrings and belts- to make atonement for ourselves before ADONAI.'

51. మోషేయు యాజకుడైన ఎలియాజరు నగలుగా చేయబడిన ఆ బంగారును వారియొద్ద తీసికొనిరి.

51. Moshe and El'azar the [cohen] accepted their gold, all the jewelry.

52. సహస్రాధిపతులును శతాధిపతులును ప్రతిష్ఠార్పణముగా యెహోవాకు అర్పించిన బంగార మంతయు పదునారువేల ఏడు వందల ఏబది తులములు.

52. All the gold in this gift which the commanders of thousands and the commanders of hundreds set apart for ADONAI weighed 420 pounds.

53. ఆ సైనికులలో ప్రతివాడును తన మట్టుకు తాను కొల్ల సొమ్ము తెచ్చుకొనియుండెను.

53. For the soldiers had taken booty, every man for himself.

54. అప్పుడు మోషేయు యాజకుడైన ఎలియాజరును సహస్రాధిపతులయొద్ద నుండియు శతాధిపతుల యొద్దనుండియు ఆ బంగారును తీసికొని యెహోవా సన్నిధిని ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు జ్ఞాపకార్థముగా ప్రత్యక్షపు గుడారమున ఉంచిరి.

54. Moshe and El'azar the [cohen] took the gold from the commanders of thousands and of hundreds and brought it into the tent of meeting as a reminder for the people of Isra'el before ADONAI. [(RY: iii; LY: vi)]
