7. When Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from the midst of the congregation, and took a spear in his hand;

8. సమాజమునుండి లేచి, యీటెను చేత పట్టుకొని పడకచోటికి ఆ ఇశ్రాయేలీయుని వెంబడి వెళ్లి ఆ యిద్దరిని, అనగా ఆ ఇశ్రాయేలీయుని ఆ స్త్రీని కడుపులో గుండ దూసిపోవు నట్లు పొడిచెను; అప్పుడు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలోనుండి తెగులు నిలిచి పోయెను.

8. and he went after the man of Israel into the pavilion, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her body. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.

9. ఇరువది నాలుగువేలమంది ఆ తెగులు చేత చనిపోయిరి.

10. అప్పుడు యెహోవా మోషేకు ఈలాగు ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను యాజకుడైన అహరోను మనుమడును ఎలియాజరు కుమారుడునైన ఫీనెహాసు,

10. Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

11. Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, has turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, in that he was jealous with my jealousy among them, so that I didn't consume the children of Israel in my jealousy.

12. కాబట్టి నీవు అతనితో ఇట్లనుము అతనితో నేను నా సమాధాన నిబంధనను చేయుచున్నాను.

12. Therefore say, Behold, I give to him my covenant of peace:

16. Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

17. Vex the Midianites, and strike them;

18. for they vex you with their wiles, with which they have deceived you in the matter of Peor, and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of the prince of Midian, their sister, who was slain on the day of the plague in the matter of Peor.
