1. యెహోవా మోషేకు ఈలాగున సెలవిచ్చెను

1. ADONAI said to Moshe,

2. నేను ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు ఇచ్చుచున్న కనానుదేశమును సంచరించి చూచుటకు నీవు మనుష్యులను పంపుము. వారి పితరుల గోత్రములలో ఒక్కొక్క దాని నుండి ఒక్కొక్క మనుష్యుని మీరు పంపవలెను; వారిలో ప్రతివాడు ప్రధానుడై యుండవలెను.

2. Send men on your behalf to reconnoiter the land of Kena'an, which I am giving to the people of Isra'el. From each ancestral tribe send someone who is a leader in his tribe.'

3. మోషే యెహోవా మాట విని, పారాను అరణ్యమునుండి వారిని పంపెను. వారందరు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలో ముఖ్యులు.

3. Moshe dispatched them from the Pa'ran Desert as ADONAI had ordered; all of them were leading men among the people of Isra'el.

4. వారి పేళ్లు ఏవనగారూబేను గోత్రమునకు

4. Here are their names: from the tribe of Re'uven, Shamua the son of Zakur;

5. జక్కూరు కుమారుడైన షమ్మూయ; షిమ్యోను గోత్రమునకు హోరీ కుమారుడైన షాపాతు;

5. from the tribe of Shim'on, Shafat the son of Hori;

6. యూదా గోత్రమునకు యెఫున్నె కుమారుడైన కాలేబు;

6. from the tribe of Y'hudah, Kalev the son of Y'funeh;

7. ఇశ్శాఖారు గోత్రమునకు యోసేపు కుమారుడైన ఇగాలు;

7. from the tribe of Yissakhar, Yig'al the son of Yosef;

8. ఎఫ్రాయిము గోత్రమునకు నూను కుమారుడైన హోషేయ;

8. from the tribe of Efrayim, Hoshea the son of Nun;

9. బెన్యామీను గోత్రమునకు రాఫు కుమారుడైన పల్తీ;

9. from the tribe of Binyamin, Palti the son of Rafu;

10. జెబూలూను గోత్రమునకు సోరీ కుమారుడైన గదీయేలు;

10. from the tribe of Z'vulun, Gadi'el the son of Sodi;

11. యోసేపు గోత్రమునకు, అనగా మనష్షే గోత్రమునకు సూసీ కుమారుడైన గదీ;

11. from the tribe of Yosef, that is, from the tribe of M'nasheh, Gadi the son of Susi;

12. దాను గోత్రమునకు గెమలి కుమారుడైన అమీ్మయేలు;

12. from the tribe of Dan, 'Ammi'el the son of G'malli;

13. ఆషేరు గోత్రమునకు మిఖాయేలు కుమారుడైన సెతూరు;

13. from the tribe of Asher, S'tur the son of Mikha'el;

14. నఫ్తాలి గోత్రమునకు వాపెసీ కుమారుడైన నహబీ;

14. from the tribe of Naftali, Nachbi the son of Vofsi; and

15. గాదు గోత్రమునకు మాకీ కుమారుడైన గెయువేలు అనునవి.

15. from the tribe of Gad, Ge'u'el the son of Makhi.

16. దేశమును సంచరించి చూచుటకు మోషే పంపిన మనుష్యుల పేళ్లు ఇవి. మోషే నూను కుమారుడైన హోషేయకు యెహోషువ అను పేరు పెట్టెను.

16. These are the names of the men Moshe sent out to reconnoiter the land. Moshe gave to Hoshea the son of Nun the name Y'hoshua.

17. మోషే కనానుదేశమును సంచరించి చూచుటకు వారిని పంపినప్పుడు వారితో ఇట్లనెను మీరు ధైర్యము తెచ్చుకొని దాని దక్షిణదిక్కున ప్రవేశించి ఆ కొండ యెక్కి ఆ దేశము ఎట్టిదో

17. Moshe sent them to reconnoiter the land of Kena'an, instructing them, 'Go on up to the Negev and into the hills,

18. దానిలో నివసించు జనము బలముగలదో బలములేనిదో, కొంచెమైనదో విస్తారమైనదో

18. and see what the land is like. Notice the people living there, whether they are strong or weak, few or many;

19. వారు నివసించు భూమి యెట్టిదో అది మంచిదో చెడ్డదో, వారు నివసించు పట్టణములు ఎట్టివో, వారు గుడారములలో నివసించుదురో, కోటలలో నివసించుదురో, ఆ భూమి సారమైనదో నిస్సారమైనదో,

19. and what kind of country they live in, whether it is good or bad; and what kind of cities they live in, open or fortified.

20. దానిలో చెట్లున్నవో లేవో కనిపెట్టవలెను. మరియు మీరు ఆ దేశపు పండ్లలో కొన్ని తీసికొనిరండని చెప్పెను. అది ద్రాక్షల ప్రథమ పక్వకాలము

20. See whether the land is fertile or unproductive and whether there is wood in it or not. Finally, be bold enough to bring back some of the fruit of the land.' When they left it was the season for the first grapes to ripen.

21. They went up and reconnoitered the land from the Tzin Desert to Rechov near the entrance to Hamat.

22. వారు దక్షిణదిక్కున ప్రయాణముచేసి హెబ్రోనుకు వచ్చిరి. అక్కడ అనాకీయులు అహీమాను షేషయి తల్మయి అను వారుండిరి. ఆ హెబ్రోను ఐగుప్తులోని సోయనుకంటె ఏడేండ్లు ముందుగా కట్టబడెను.

22. They went up into the Negev and arrived at Hevron; Achiman, Sheshai and Talmai, the 'Anakim, lived there. (Hevron was built seven years before Tzo'an in Egypt.)

23. వారు ఎష్కోలు లోయలోనికి వచ్చి అక్కడ ఒక్క గెలగల ద్రాక్షచెట్టు యొక్క కొమ్మను కోసి దండెతో ఇద్దరు మోసిరి. మరియు వారు కొన్ని దానిమ్మపండ్లను కొన్ని అంజూరపు పండ్లను తెచ్చిరి.

23. They came to the Eshkol Valley; and there they cut off a branch bearing one cluster of grapes, which they carried on a pole between two of them; they also took pomegranates and figs.

24. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు అక్కడ కోసిన ద్రాక్ష గెలనుబట్టి ఆ స్థలమునకు ఎష్కోలు లోయ అను పేరు పెట్టబడెను.

24. That place was called the Valley of Eshkol [[cluster]], because of the cluster which the people of Isra'el cut down there.

25. వారు నలుబది దినములు ఆ దేశమును సంచరించి చూచి తిరిగి వచ్చిరి.

25. Forty days later, they returned from reconnoitering the land

26. అట్లు వారు వెళ్లి పారాను అరణ్యమందలి కాదేషులోనున్న మోషే అహరోనులయొద్దకును ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల సర్వసమాజమునొద్దకును వచ్చి, వారికిని ఆ సర్వ సమాజమునకును సమాచారము తెలియచెప్పి ఆ దేశపు పండ్లను వారికి చూపించిరి.

26. and went to Moshe, Aharon and the entire community of the people of Isra'el at Kadesh in the Pa'ran Desert, where they brought back word to them and to the entire community and showed them the fruit of the land.

27. వారు అతనికి తెలియపరచినదేమనగా నీవు మమ్మును పంపిన దేశమునకు వెళ్లితివిు; అది పాలు తేనెలు ప్రవహించు దేశమే; దాని పండ్లు ఇవి.

27. What they told him was this: 'We entered the land where you sent us, and indeed it does flow with milk and honey- here is its fruit!

28. అయితే ఆ దేశములో నివసించు జనులు బలవంతులు; వారి పట్టణములు ప్రాకారముగలవి అవి మిక్కిలి గొప్పవి; మరియు అక్కడ అనాకీయులను చూచితివిు.

28. However the people living in the land are fierce, and the cities are fortified and very large. Moreover, we saw the 'Anakim there.

29. అమాలేకీయులు దక్షిణ దేశములో నివసించుచున్నారు; హిత్తీయులు యెబూసీయులు అమోరీయులు కొండ దేశములో నివసించుచున్నారు; కనానీయులు సముద్రమునొద్దను యొర్దాను నదీప్రాంతములలోను నివసించుచున్నారని చెప్పిరి.

29. Amalek lives in the area of the Negev; the Hitti, the Y'vusi and the Emori live in the hills; and the Kena'ani live by the sea and alongside the Yarden.'

30. కాలేబు మోషే యెదుట జనులను నిమ్మళ పరచిమనము నిశ్చయముగా వెళ్లుదుము; దాని స్వాధీనపరచుకొందుము; దాని జయించుటకు మన శక్తి చాలుననెను.

30. Kalev silenced the people around Moshe and said, 'We ought to go up immediately and take possession of it; there is no question that we can conquer it.'

31. అయితే అతనితో కూడ పోయిన ఆ మనుష్యులు ఆ జనులు మనకంటె బలవంతులు; మనము వారి మీదికి పోజాలమనిరి.

31. But the men who had gone with him said, 'We can't attack those people, because they are stronger than we are';

32. మరియు వారు తాము సంచరించి చూచిన దేశమునుగూర్చి ఇశ్రాయేలీయులతో చెడ్డ సమాచారము చెప్పి మేము సంచరించి చూచిన దేశము తన నివాసులను భక్షించు దేశము; దానిలో మాకు కనబడిన జనులందరు ఉన్నత దేహులు.

32. and they spread a negative report about the land they had reconnoitered for the people of Isra'el by saying, 'The land we passed through in order to spy it out is a land that devours its inhabitants. All the people we saw there were giant!

33. అక్కడ నెఫీలీయుల సంబంధులైన అనాకు వంశపు నెఫీలీయులను చూచితివిు; మా దృష్ఠికి మేము మిడతలవలె ఉంటిమి, వారి దృష్ఠికిని అట్లే ఉంటిమనిరి.

33. We saw the N'filim, the descendants of 'Anak, who was from the N'filim; to ourselves we looked like grasshoppers by comparison, and we looked that way to them too!'
