1. సిగ్గుమాలిన జనులారా, కూడి రండి, పొట్టు గాలికి ఎగురునట్లు సమయము గతించుచున్నది.

1. COLLECT YOUR thoughts, yes, unbend yourselves [in submission and see if there is no sense of shame and no consciousness of sin left in you], O shameless nation [not desirous or desired]!

2. విధి నిర్ణయము కాకమునుపే యెహోవా కోపాగ్ని మీ మీదికి రాక మునుపే, మిమ్మును శిక్షించుటకై యెహోవా ఉగ్రతదినము రాకమునుపే కూడిరండి.

2. [The time for repentance is speeding by like chaff whirled before the wind!] Therefore consider, before God's decree brings forth [the curse upon you], before the time [to repent] is gone like the drifting chaff, before the fierce anger of the Lord comes upon you--yes, before the day of the wrath of the Lord comes upon you!

3. దేశములో సాత్వికులై ఆయన న్యాయవిధుల ననుసరించు సమస్త దీనులారా, యెహో వాను వెదకుడి; మీరు వెదకి వినయముగలవారై నీతిని అనుసరించినయెడల ఒకవేళ ఆయన ఉగ్రత దినమున మీరు దాచబడుదురు.

3. Seek the Lord [inquire for Him, inquire of Him, and require Him as the foremost necessity of your life], all you humble of the land who have acted in compliance with His revealed will and have kept His commandments; seek righteousness, seek humility [inquire for them, require them as vital]. It may be you will be hidden in the day of the Lord's anger.

4. గాజాపట్టణము నిర్జనమగును, అష్కెలోను పాడై పోవును, మధ్యాహ్నకాలమందు అష్డోదువారు బయటికి పారదోలబడుదురు, ఎక్రోను పట్ట ణము దున్నబడును.

4. For [hear the fate of the Philistines:] Gaza shall be forsaken and Ashkelon shall become a desolation; the people of Ashdod shall be driven out at noonday and Ekron shall be uprooted.

5. సముద్రప్రాంతమందు నివసించు కెరేతీయులారా, మీకు శ్రమ; ఫిలిష్తీయుల దేశమైన కనానూ, నిన్ను గూర్చి యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగా నీయందు ఒక కాపురస్థుడైనను లేకుండ నేను నిన్ను లయముచేతును.

5. Woe to the inhabitants of the seacoast, the nation of the Cherethites [in Philistia]! The word of the Lord is against you, O Canaan, land of the Philistines; I will destroy you until no inhabitant is left.

6. సముద్రప్రాంతము గొఱ్ఱెల కాపరులు దిగు మేతస్థలమగును, మందలకు దొడ్లు అచ్చట నుండును.

6. And the seacoast shall be pastures, with [deserted] dwelling places and caves for shepherds and folds for flocks.

7. తమ దేవుడైన యెహోవా యూదావారిని కటాక్షించి వారిని చెరలోనుండి రప్పించగా అచ్చటవారిలో శేషించిన వారికి ఒక స్థలముండును; వారు అచ్చట తమ మందలను మేపుదురు, అస్తమయమున వారు అష్కెలోను ఇండ్లలో పండుకొందురు.

7. The seacoast shall belong to the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall pasture their flocks upon it; in the houses of [deserted Philistine] Ashkelon shall they of Judah lie down in the evening. For the Lord their [Judah's] God shall visit them [for their relief] and restore them from their captivity. [Isa. 14:29-31; Amos 1:6-8.]

8. మోయాబువారు చేసిన నిందయు, అమ్మోనువారు పలికిన దూషణ మాటలును నాకు వినబడెను; వారు నా జనుల సరిహద్దులలో ప్రవేశించి అతిశయపడి వారిని దూషించిరి.

8. I have heard the taunts of Moab and the revilings of the Ammonites by which they have reproached My people, and magnified themselves and made boasts against their territory.

9. నా జీవముతోడు మోయాబుదేశము సొదొమ పట్టణమువలెను, అమ్మోనుదేశము గొమొఱ్ఱా పట్టణమువలెను అగును. అవి ముండ్లచెట్లకును ఉప్పు గోతులకును స్థానమై నిత్యము పాడుగా ఉండును; నా జనులలో శేషించువారు ఆ దేశములను దోచుకొందురు; నా జనులలో శేషించువారు వాటిని స్వతంత్రించు కొందురు. కాబట్టి ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన సైన్య ములకు అధిపతియగు యెహోవావాక్కు ఇదే.

9. Therefore, as I live, says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Moab shall become like Sodom and the Ammonites like Gomorrah, a land possessed by nettles and wild vetches and salt pits, and a perpetual desolation. The remnant of My people shall make a prey of them and what is left of My nation shall possess them.

10. వారు అతిశయపడి సైన్యములకు అధిపతియగు యెహోవా జనులను దూషించిరి గనుక వారి గర్వమునుబట్టి యిది వారికి సంభవించును.

10. This shall they have for their pride, because they have taunted and boasted against the people of the Lord of hosts.

11. జనముల ద్వీపములలో నివసించు వారందరును తమతమ స్థానములనుండి తనకే నమస్కారము చేయునట్లు భూమిలోనున్న దేవతలను ఆయన నిర్మూలము చేయును, యెహోవా వారికి భయంకరుడుగా ఉండును.

11. The Lord will be terrible to them, for He will make lean and famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship Him, every one from his place, even all the isles and coastlands of the nations. [Joel 2:11; Zeph. 1:4; 3:9.]

12. కూషీయులారా, మీరును నా ఖడ్గముచేత హతులవుదురు.

12. You Ethiopians also, you shall be slain by My sword. [Isa. 18.]

13. ఆయన ఉత్తరదేశముమీద తన హస్తమును చాపి అష్షూరు దేశమును నాశనముచేయును; నీనెవె పట్టణమును పాడు చేసి దానిని ఆరిపోయిన యెడారివలె చేయును.

13. And [the Lord] will stretch out His hand against the north and destroy Assyria and will make Nineveh a desolation, dry as the desert. [Isa. 10:12; Nah. 1:1.]

14. దానిలో పసుల మందలు పండుకొనును; సకలజాతి జంతువులును గంపులుగా కూడును; గూడ బాతులును తుంబోళ్లును వారి ద్వారముల పైకమ్ములమీద నిలుచును; పక్షుల శబ్దములును కిటికీలలో వినబడును; గడపలమీద నాశనము కను పించును. వారు చేసికొనిన దేవదారు కఱ్ఱపనియంతటిని యెహోవా నాశనము చేయును.

14. Herds shall lie down in the midst of [Nineveh], all the [wild] beasts of the nations and of every kind; both the pelican and the hedgehog shall lodge on the upper part of her [fallen] pillars; the voice [of the nesting bird] shall sing in the windows; desolation and drought shall be on the thresholds, for her cedar paneling will He lay bare.

15. నావంటి పట్టణము మరి యొకటి లేదని మురియుచు ఉత్సాహపడుచు నిర్విచార ముగా ఉండిన పట్టణము ఇదే. అది పాడైపోయెనే, మృగములు పండుకొను స్థలమాయెనే అని దాని మార్గ మున పోవువారందరు చెప్పుకొనుచు, ఈసడించుచు పోపొమ్మని చేసైగ చేయుదురు.

15. This is the joyous and exultant city that dwelt carelessly [feeling so secure], that said in her heart, I am and there is none beside me. What a desolation she has become, a lair for [wild] beasts! Everyone who passes by her shall hiss and wave his hand [indicating his gratification]. [Isa. 10:5-34; 47:8, 10.]
