1. ఇశ్రాయేలు విస్తారముగా వ్యాపించిన ద్రాక్ష చెట్టుతో సమానము. వారు ఫలము ఫలించిరి. ఫలము ఫలించినకొలది వారు బలిపీఠములను మరి విశేషముగా చేయుచువచ్చిరి; తమ భూమి ఫలవంతమైనకొలది వారు తమ దేవతాస్తంభములను మరి విశేషముగా చేసిరి.

1. Israel was like a spreading vine. They produced fruit for themselves. As they grew more fruit, they built more altars. As their land became richer, they made the sacred stones they worshiped more beautiful.

2. వారి మనస్సు కపటమైనది గనుక వారు త్వరలోనే తమ అపరాధమునకు శిక్ష నొందుదురు; యెహోవా వారి బలిపీఠ ములను తుత్తునియలుగా చేయును, వారు ప్రతిష్టించిన దేవతాస్తంభములను పాడుచేయును.

2. Their hearts are dishonest. So now they must pay for their sins. The Lord will tear their altars down. He'll destroy their sacred stones.

3. రాజు మనకు లేడు, మనము యెహోవాకు భయపడము, రాజు మనకేమి చేయును అని వారిప్పుడు చెప్పుదురు.

3. Then they'll say, 'We don't have a king. That's because we didn't have any respect for the Lord. But suppose we did have a king. What could he do for us?'

4. అబద్ధప్రమాణములు చేయుదురు, సంధులు చేయుదురు, వట్టిమాటలు పలుకుదురు, అందువలన భూమి చాళ్లలో విషపుకూర మొలచునట్టుగా దేశములో వారి తీర్పులు బయలు దేరు చున్నవి.

4. They make a lot of promises. They make agreements among themselves. They take oaths they don't mean to keep. So court cases spring up like poisonous weeds in a plowed field.

5. బేతావెనులోనున్న దూడవిషయమై షోమ్రోను నివాసులు భయపడుదురు, దాని ప్రభావము పోయెనని ప్రజలును, సంతోషించుచుండిన దాని అర్చకులును దుఃఖింతురు.

5. The people who live in Samaria are filled with fear. They are afraid their god that looks like a calf will be carried off from Bethel. They will sob over it. So will the priests who lead them to worship it. The priests were full of joy because their statue was so glorious. But it will be captured and taken far away from them.

6. It will be carried off to Assyria. The people of Ephraim will be forced to give it to the great king. They will be dishonored. Israel will be ashamed that all they have left to worship is a wooden god.

7. Samaria's king will be carried off. He will be like a twig floating away in a river.

8. The high places where Israel worshiped other gods will be destroyed. That's where they sinned against the Lord. Thorns and weeds will grow up there. They will cover the altars. Then the people will say to the mountains, 'Cover us!' They'll say to the hills, 'Fall on us!'

9. The Lord says, 'Israel, you have done evil things ever since your people sinned at Gibeah long ago. And you are still doing what is evil. War caught up with those who sinned at Gibeah.

10. నా యిష్టప్రకారము నేను వారిని శిక్షింతును; వారు చేసిన రెండు దోషక్రియలకు నేను వారిని బంధింపగా అన్యజనులు కూడి వారిమీదికి వత్తురు.

10. So I will punish you when I want to. Nations will gather together to fight against you. They will put you in chains because you have committed so many sins.

11. ఎఫ్రాయిము నూర్పునందు అభ్యాసముగలదై కంకులను త్రొక్కగోరు పెయ్యవలె ఉన్నది; అయితే దాని నున్నని మెడకు నేను కాడి కట్టుదును; ఎఫ్రాయిముచేత దున్నిం చుటకు నేనొకని నియమింతును, యూదా భూమిని దున్నును, యాకోబు దానిని చదును చేసికొనును.

11. Ephraim, you were like a well-trained young cow. It loved to thresh grain. I spared its pretty neck from pulling heavy loads. But now I will make you do hard work. Judah also must plow. So all of the people of Jacob must break up the ground.

12. Your hearts are as hard as a field that has not been plowed. If you change your ways, you will produce good crops. So plant the seeds of doing what is right. 13. నీ ప్రవర్తననాధారము చేసికొని నీ బలాఢ్యులను నమ్ముకొని నీవు చెడుతనపు పంటకై దున్నితివి గనుక మీరు పాపమను కోతకోసియున్నారు. అబద్ధము నకు ఫలము పొందియున్నారు.

13. But you have planted the seeds of doing what is wrong. So you have harvested the fruit of your evil conduct. You have had to eat the fruit of your lies. You have trusted in your own strength. You have depended on your many soldiers.

14. నీ జనుల మీదికి అల్లరి వచ్చును; షల్మాను యుద్ధముచేసి బేతర్బేలును పాడుచేసి నట్లు ప్రాకారములుగల నీ పట్టణములన్నియు పాడగును; పిల్లలమీద తల్లులు నేలను పడవేయబడుదురు.

14. But the roar of battle will come against you. All of your forts will be completely destroyed. It will happen just as Shalman destroyed Beth Arbel in a battle. Mothers and their children were smashed on the ground.

15. ఈలాగున మీరు చేసిన ఘోరమైన దుష్టక్రియలనుబట్టి బేతేలు మీకు నాశన కారణమగును; ఉదయకాలమున ఇశ్రా యేలు రాజు కొట్టబడి నిర్మూలమగును.

15. People of Bethel, that will happen to you. You have committed far too many sins. When the time for me to punish you comes, your king will be completely destroyed.'
