1. ఏడవ మాసమున ఎలీషామా మనుమడును నెతన్యా కుమారుడును రాజవంశస్థుడును రాజుయొక్క ప్రధానులలో నొకడునగు ఇష్మాయేలనువాడును, అతనితో పది మంది మనుష్యులును, మిస్పాలోనున్న అహీకాము కుమారుడైన గెదల్యాయొద్దకు వచ్చి అక్కడ అతనితోకూడ మిస్పాలో భోజనముచేసిరి.

1. And it happened in the seventh month, Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the royal seed, and of the chief ones of the king, and ten men with him, came to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, to Mizpah. And they ate bread together there in Mizpah.

2. అప్పుడు నెతన్యా కుమారుడైన ఇష్మాయేలు అతనితో కూడనున్న ఆ పదిమంది మనుష్యులును లేచి షాఫాను మనుమడును అహీకాము కుమారుడైన గెదల్యాను ఖడ్గముచేత హతముచేసిరి; బబులోనురాజు ఆ దేశముమీద అతని అధికారినిగా నియ మించినందున అతని చంపిరి.

2. And Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, and the ten men with him rose up and struck Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, with the sword. And they killed him whom the king of Babylon had appointed over the land.

3. మరియు మిస్పాలో గెదల్యా యొద్ద ఉండిన యూదుల నందరిని, అక్కడ దొరికిన యోధులగు కల్దీయులను ఇష్మాయేలు చంపెను.

3. Ishmael also struck all the Jews who were with him, with Gedaliah at Mizpah, and the Chaldeans who were found there, the men of war.

4. అతడు గెదల్యాను చంపిన రెండవనాడు అది ఎవరికిని తెలియబడక మునుపు

4. And it happened, the second day after he had killed Gedaliah; and no one knew,

5. men from Shechem came from Shiloh, and from Samaria, eighty men, having their beards shaved, and their clothes torn, and having cut themselves, and with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring to the house of Jehovah.

6. నెతన్యా కుమారుడైన ఇష్మాయేలు దారి పొడుగున ఏడ్చుచు, వారిని ఎదుర్కొనుటకు మిస్పాలోనుండి బయలు వెళ్లి వారిని కలిసికొని వారితో అహీకాము కుమారుడైన గెదల్యా యొద్దకు రండనెను.

6. And Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, went out from Mizpah to meet them, walking as he walked and weeping. And it happened, as he met them, he said to them, Come to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam.

7. అయితే వారు ఆ పట్టణము మధ్యను ప్రవేశించినప్పుడు నెతన్యా కుమారుడైన ఇష్మాయేలును అతనితోకూడ ఉన్నవారును వారిని చంపి గోతిలో పడవేసిరి.

7. And it happened when they came into the middle of the city, Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, killed them, he and the men with him, throwing them into the middle of the pit.

8. అయితే వారిలో పదిమంది మనుష్యులు ఇష్మాయేలుతో పొలములలో దాచబడిన గోధుమలు యవలు తైలము తేనె మొదలైన ద్రవ్యములు మాకు కలవు, మమ్మును చంపకుమని చెప్పుకొనగా అతడు వారి సహోదరులతో కూడ వారిని చంపక మానెను.

8. But ten men were found among them who said to Ishmael, Do not kill us, for we have treasures in the field, of wheat, and barley, and oil, and honey. So he held back, not killing them with their brothers.

9. ఇష్మాయేలు గెదల్యాతోకూడ చంపిన మనుష్యుల శవములన్నిటిని పడవేసిన గోయి రాజైన ఆసా ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజైన బయషాకు భయపడి త్రవ్వించిన గొయ్యియే; నెతన్యా కుమారుడైన ఇష్మాయేలు చంపబడినవారి శవములతో దాని నింపెను.

9. And the pit there in which Ishmael had thrown all the dead bodies of the men, whom he had struck because of Gedaliah, was the one which Asa the king had made from the face of Baasha, king of Israel. Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, filled it with the slain.

10. అప్పుడు ఇష్మాయేలు మిస్పాలోనున్న జనశేష మంతటిని రాజ కుమార్తెలనందరిని అనగా రాజదేహసంరక్షకుల కధిపతియైన నెబూజరదాను అహీకాము కుమారుడైన గెదల్యాకు అప్పగించిన జనులందరిని, చెరతీసికొనిపోయెను. నెతన్యా కుమారుడైన ఇష్మాయేలు వారిని చెరతీసికొనిపోయి అమ్మోనీయులయొద్దకు చేరవలెనని ప్రయత్నపడుచుండగా

10. And Ishmael took captive all the rest of the people who were in Mizpah, the king's daughters, and all the people who stayed in Mizpah, whom Nebuzaradan, the chief of the executioners, had entrusted to Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam. And Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, took captive and went to go over to the sons of Ammon.

11. కారేహ కుమారుడైన యోహానానును అతనితోకూడనున్న సేనాధిపతులందరును నెతన్యా కుమారుడైన ఇష్మాయేలు చేసిన సమస్త దుష్కార్యములను గూర్చిన వార్త విని

11. But when Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the army heads with him, heard of all the evil that Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, had done,

12. పురుషులనందరిని పిలుచుకొని, నెతన్యా కుమారుడైన ఇష్మాయేలుతో యుద్ధము చేయబోయి, గిబియోనులోనున్న మహా జలముల దగ్గర అతని కలిసికొనిరి.

12. then they took all the men and went to fight with Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah. And they found him by the many waters that are in Gibeon.

13. ఇష్మాయేలుతో కూడనున్న ప్రజలందరు కారేహ కుమారుడైన యోహానానును, అతనితో కూడనున్న సేనాధిపతులనందరిని చూచినప్పుడు వారు సంతోషించి

13. And it happened when all the people with Ishmael saw Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the army heads with him, then they were glad.

14. ఇష్మాయేలు మిస్పాలో నుండి చెరగొనిపోయిన ప్రజలందరు అతని విడిచి కారేహ కుమారుడైన యెహానానుతో కలిసిరి.

14. And all the people that Ishmael had taken captive from Mizpah turned around and came back, and went to Johanan, the son of Kareah.

15. అయినను, నెతన్యా కుమారుడైన ఇష్మాయేలును ఎనమండుగురు మనుష్యులును యోహానాను చేతిలోనుండి తప్పించుకొని అమ్మోనీయుల యొద్దకు పారి పోయిరి.

15. But Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, escaped from Johanan with eight men, and went to the sons of Ammon.

16. అప్పుడు నెతన్యా కుమారుడైన ఇష్మాయేలు అహీకాము కుమారుడైన గెదల్యాను చంపిన తరువాత,

16. Then Johanan, the son of Kareah, and all the army heads with him, took all the remnant of the people whom he had recovered from Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, from Mizpah (after he had killed Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam), mighty men of war, and the women, and the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought again from Gibeon.

17. కారేహ కుమారుడైన యోహానానును అతనితో కూడనున్న సేనల యధిపతులందరును మిస్పా దగ్గరనుండి ఇష్మాయేలు నొద్దనుండి జనశేషమంతటిని, అనగా గిబియోను దగ్గరనుండి ఇష్మాయేలు కొనిపోయిన యోధులను స్త్రీలను పిల్లలను, రాజపరివారమును మరల రప్పించిరి;

17. And they departed and lived in the inn of Chimham, which is by Bethlehem, to go to enter Egypt,

18. అయితే వారు బబులోనురాజు దేశముమీద అధికారినిగా నియమించిన అహీకాము కుమారుడైన గెదల్యాను నెతన్యా కుమారుడైన ఇష్మాయేలు చంపినందున వారు కల్దీయులకు భయపడి ఐగుప్తునకు వెళ్లుదమనుకొని బేత్లెహేముదగ్గరనున్న గెరూతు కింహాములో దిగిరి.

18. because of the Chaldeans; for they were afraid of them, because Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah, had struck Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon had appointed in the land.
