1. బబులోనురాజైన నెబుకద్రెజరు యూదా దేశములో రాజుగా నియమించిన యోషీయా కుమారుడగు సిద్కియా యెహోయాకీము కుమారుడైన కొన్యాకు ప్రతిగా రాజ్యముచేయుచుండెను.

1. And reign doth king Zedekiah son of Josiah instead of Coniah son of Jehoiakim whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had caused to reign in the land of Judah,

2. అతడైనను అతని సేవకులైనను దేశప్రజలైనను యెహోవా ప్రవక్తయైన యిర్మీయాచేత సెలవిచ్చిన మాటలను లక్ష్యపెట్టలేదు.

2. and he hath not hearkened, he, and his servants, and the people of the land, unto the words of Jehovah, that He spake by the hand of Jeremiah the prophet.

3. రాజైన సిద్కియా షెలెమ్యా కుమారుడైన యెహుకలును యాజకుడైన మయశేయా కుమారుడగు జెఫన్యాను ప్రవక్తయైన యిర్మీయా యొద్దకు పంపిదయచేసి మన దేవుడైన యెహోవాకు ప్రార్థన చేయుమని మనవిచేసెను.

3. And Zedekiah the king sendeth Jehucal son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah son of Maaseiah the priest, unto Jeremiah the prophet, saying, 'Pray, we beseech thee, for us unto Jehovah our God.'

4. అప్పటికి వారు యిర్మీయాను చెరసాలలో నుంచియుండ లేదు; అతడు ప్రజలమధ్య సంచరించుచుండెను.

4. And Jeremiah is coming in and going out in the midst of the people, (and they have not put him in the prison-house),

5. ఫరో దండు ఐగుప్తులోనుండి బయలుదేరగా యెరూషలేమును ముట్టడివేయుచున్న కల్దీయులు సమాచారము విని యెరూషలేము దగ్గరనుండి బయలుదేరిరి.

5. and the force of Pharaoh hath come out of Egypt, and the Chaldeans, who are laying siege against Jerusalem, hear their report, and go up from off Jerusalem.

6. అప్పుడు యెహోవా వాక్కు ప్రవక్తయైన యిర్మీయాకు ప్రత్యక్షమై యీలాగు సెలవిచ్చెను

6. And there is a word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah the prophet, saying:

7. ఇశ్రాయేలు దేవుడగు యెహోవా ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చునదేమనగా నా యొద్ద విచారించుడని నిన్ను నా యొద్దకు పంపిన యూదారాజుతో నీ వీలాగు చెప్పవలెనుమీకు సహాయము చేయుటకై బయలుదేరి వచ్చుచున్న ఫరోదండు తమ స్వదేశమైన ఐగుప్తులోనికి తిరిగి వెళ్లును.

7. 'Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, Thus do ye say unto the king of Judah, who is sending you unto Me, to seek Me: Lo, the force of Pharaoh that is coming out to you for help hath turned back to its land, to Egypt,

8. కల్దీయులు తిరిగి వచ్చి యీ పట్టణముమీద యుద్ధముచేసి దాని పట్టుకొని అగ్ని చేత కాల్చి వేయుదురు.

8. and the Chaldeans have turned back, and fought against this city, and captured it, and burnt it with fire.

9. యెహోవా ఈ మాట సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడు కల్దీయులు నిశ్చయముగా మాయొద్దనుండి వెళ్లెదరనుకొని మిమ్మును మీరు మోసపుచ్చుకొనకుడి, వారు వెళ్లనే వెళ్లరు.

9. 'Thus said Jehovah: Lift not up your souls saying, The Chaldeans surely go from off us, for they do not go;

10. మీతో యుద్ధముచేయు కల్దీయుల దండువారినందరిని మీరు హతముచేసి వారిలో గాయపడిన వారిని మాత్రమే మిగిలించినను వారే తమ గుడారములలోనుండి వచ్చి యీ పట్టణమును అగ్నితో కాల్చివేయుదురు.

10. for though ye had smitten all the force of the Chaldeans who are fighting with you, and there were left of them wounded men -- each in his tent -- they rise, and have burnt this city with fire.'

11. ఫరో దండునకు భయపడి కల్దీయుల దండు యెరూష లేము ఎదుటనుండి వెళ్లిపోగా

11. And it hath come to pass, in the going up of the force of the Chaldeans from off Jerusalem, because of the force of Pharaoh,

12. యిర్మీయా బెన్యామీను దేశములో తనవారియొద్ద భాగము తీసికొనుటకై యెరూషలేమునుండి బయలుదేరి అక్కడికి పోయెను. అతడు బెన్యామీను గుమ్మమునొద్దకు రాగా

12. that Jeremiah goeth out from Jerusalem to go [to] the land of Benjamin, to receive a portion thence in the midst of the people.

13. ఇరీయా అను కావలివారి అధిపతి అక్కడ నుండెను. అతడు హనన్యా కుమారుడైన షెలెమ్యా కుమారుడు. అతడు ప్రవక్తయైన యిర్మీయాను పట్టుకొనినీవు కల్దీయులలో చేరబోవు చున్నావని చెప్పగా

13. And it cometh to pass, he is at the gate of Benjamin, and there [is] a master of the ward -- and his name is Irijah son of Shelemiah, son of Hananiah -- and he catcheth Jeremiah the prophet, saying, 'Unto the Chaldeans thou art falling.'

14. యిర్మీయా అది అబద్దము, నేను కల్దీయులలో చేరబోవుటలేదనెను. అయితే అతడు యిర్మీయామాట నమ్మనందున ఇరీయా యిర్మీయాను పట్టు కొని అధిపతులయొద్దకు తీసికొని వచ్చెను.

14. And Jeremiah saith, 'Falsehood -- I am not falling unto the Chaldeans;' and he hath not hearkened unto him, and Irijah layeth hold on Jeremiah, and bringeth him in unto the heads,

15. అధిపతులు యిర్మీయామీద కోపపడి అతని కొట్టి, తాము బందీగృహ ముగా చేసియున్న లేఖికుడైన యోనాతాను ఇంటిలో అతని వేయించిరి.

15. and the heads are wroth against Jeremiah, and have smitten him, and put him in the prison-house -- the house of Jonathan the scribe, for it they had made for a prison-house.

16. యిర్మీయా చెరసాల గోతిలో వేయబడి అక్కడ అనేక దినములు ఉండెను; పిమ్మట రాజైన సిద్కియా అతని రప్పించుటకు వర్తమానము పంపి,

16. When Jeremiah hath entered into the house of the dungeon, and unto the cells, then Jeremiah dwelleth there many days,

17. అతని తన యింటికి పిలిపించి యెహోవాయొద్ద నుండి ఏ మాటైనను వచ్చెనా అని యడుగగా యిర్మీయా - నీవు బబులోను రాజుచేతికి అప్పగింపబడెదవను మాటవచ్చెననెను.

17. and the king Zedekiah sendeth, and taketh him, and the king asketh him in his house in secret, and saith, 'Is there a word from Jehovah?' And Jeremiah saith, 'There is,' and he saith, 'Into the hand of the king of Babylon thou art given.'

18. మరియు యిర్మీయా రాజైన సిద్కియాతో ఇట్లనెనునేను నీకైనను నీ సేవకులకైనను ఈ ప్రజలకైనను ఏ పాపము చేసినందున నన్ను చెరసాలలో వేసితివి?

18. And Jeremiah saith unto the king Zedekiah, 'What have I sinned against thee, and against thy servants, and against this people, that ye have given me unto a prison-house?

19. బబులోను రాజు మీమీది కైనను ఈ దేశముమీదికైనను రాడని మీకు ప్రకటించిన మీ ప్రవక్తలు ఎక్కడనున్నారు?

19. And where [are] your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, The king of Babylon doth not come in against you, and against this land?

20. రాజా, నా యేలిన వాడా, చిత్తగించి వినుము, చిత్తగించి నా మనవి నీ సన్ని ధికి రానిమ్ము, నేను అక్కడ చని పోకుండునట్లు లేఖికుడైన యెనాతాను ఇంటికి నన్ను మరల పంపకుము.

20. And now, hearken, I pray thee, my lord, O king, let my supplication fall, I pray thee, before thee, and cause me not to return [to] the house of Jonathan the scribe, that I die not there.'

21. కాబట్టి రాజైన సిద్కియా సెలవియ్యగా బంటులు బందీగృహశాలలో యిర్మీయాను వేసి, పట్టణములో రొట్టెలున్నంత వరకు రొట్టెలు కాల్చువారి వీధిలోనుండి అనుదినము ఒక రొట్టె అతనికిచ్చుచు వచ్చిరి; ఇట్లు జరుగగా యిర్మీయా బందీగృహశాలలో నివసించెను.

21. And the king Zedekiah commandeth, and they commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, also to give to him a cake of bread daily from the bakers' street, till the consumption of all the bread of the city, and Jeremiah dwelleth in the court of the prison.
