1. బబులోనురాజైన నెబుకద్రెజరు యూదా దేశములో రాజుగా నియమించిన యోషీయా కుమారుడగు సిద్కియా యెహోయాకీము కుమారుడైన కొన్యాకు ప్రతిగా రాజ్యముచేయుచుండెను.

1. Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had appointed Zedekiah son of Josiah to be king of Judah. Zedekiah took the place of Jehoiachin son of Jehoiakim.

2. అతడైనను అతని సేవకులైనను దేశప్రజలైనను యెహోవా ప్రవక్తయైన యిర్మీయాచేత సెలవిచ్చిన మాటలను లక్ష్యపెట్టలేదు.

2. But Zedekiah, his servants, and the people of Judah did not listen to the words the Lord had spoken through Jeremiah the prophet.

3. రాజైన సిద్కియా షెలెమ్యా కుమారుడైన యెహుకలును యాజకుడైన మయశేయా కుమారుడగు జెఫన్యాను ప్రవక్తయైన యిర్మీయా యొద్దకు పంపిదయచేసి మన దేవుడైన యెహోవాకు ప్రార్థన చేయుమని మనవిచేసెను.

3. Now King Zedekiah sent Jehucal son of Shelemiah and the priest Zephaniah son of Maaseiah with a message to Jeremiah the prophet. This was the message: 'Jeremiah, please pray to the Lord our God for us.'

6. The Lord spoke his word to Jeremiah the prophet:

7. ఇశ్రాయేలు దేవుడగు యెహోవా ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చునదేమనగా నా యొద్ద విచారించుడని నిన్ను నా యొద్దకు పంపిన యూదారాజుతో నీ వీలాగు చెప్పవలెనుమీకు సహాయము చేయుటకై బయలుదేరి వచ్చుచున్న ఫరోదండు తమ స్వదేశమైన ఐగుప్తులోనికి తిరిగి వెళ్లును.

7. 'This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Jehucal and Zephaniah, I know Zedekiah king of Judah sent you to seek my help. Tell this to King Zedekiah: 'The army of the king of Egypt came here to help you, but they will go back to Egypt.

8. కల్దీయులు తిరిగి వచ్చి యీ పట్టణముమీద యుద్ధముచేసి దాని పట్టుకొని అగ్ని చేత కాల్చి వేయుదురు.

8. After that, the Babylonian army will return and attack Jerusalem and capture it and burn it down.'

9. యెహోవా ఈ మాట సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడు కల్దీయులు నిశ్చయముగా మాయొద్దనుండి వెళ్లెదరనుకొని మిమ్మును మీరు మోసపుచ్చుకొనకుడి, వారు వెళ్లనే వెళ్లరు.

9. 'This is what the Lord says: People of Jerusalem, do not fool yourselves. Don't say, 'The Babylonian army will surely leave us alone.' They will not!

10. Even if you defeated all of the Babylonian army that is attacking you and there were only a few injured men left in their tents, they would come from their tents and burn down Jerusalem!'

11. ఫరో దండునకు భయపడి కల్దీయుల దండు యెరూష లేము ఎదుటనుండి వెళ్లిపోగా

11. So the Babylonian army left Jerusalem to fight the army of the king of Egypt.

12. Now Jeremiah tried to travel from Jerusalem to the land of Benjamin to get his share of the property that belonged to his family.

13. When Jeremiah got to the Benjamin Gate of Jerusalem, the captain in charge of the guards arrested him. The captain's name was Irijah son of Shelemiah son of Hananiah. Irijah said, 'You are leaving us to join the Babylonians!'

15. Those rulers were very angry with Jeremiah and beat him. Then they put him in jail in the house of Jonathan the royal secretary, which had been made into a prison.

17. Then King Zedekiah sent for Jeremiah and had him brought to the palace. Zedekiah asked him in private, 'Is there any message from the Lord?' Jeremiah answered, 'Yes, there is. Zedekiah, you will be handed over to the king of Babylon.'

20. But now, my master, king of Judah, please listen to me, and please do what I ask of you. Do not send me back to the house of Jonathan the royal secretary, or I will die there!'

21. So King Zedekiah gave orders for Jeremiah to be put under guard in the courtyard of the guard and to be given bread each day from the street of the bakers until there was no more bread in the city. So he stayed under guard in the courtyard of the guard.
