1. హిజ్కియా రాజుయొక్క పదునాలుగవ సంవత్సర మున అష్షూరురాజైన సన్హెరీబు యూదా దేశములోని ప్రాకారముగల పట్టణములన్నిటిమీదికి వచ్చి వాటిని పట్టుకొనెను.

1. Now it came to pass in the fourteenth year of the reign of Hezekiah, [that] Sennacherib, king of the Assyrians, came up against the strong cities of Judah, and took them.

2. అంతట అష్షూరు రాజు రబ్షాకేను లాకీషు పట్టణమునుండి యెరూషలేమునందున్న రాజైనహిజ్కియా మీదికి బహు గొప్ప సేనతో పంపెను. వారు చాకి రేవు మార్గమందున్న మెరకకొలను కాలువయొద్ద ప్రవేశింపగా

2. And the king of the Assyrians sent Rabshakeh out of Lachish to Jerusalem, to King Hezekiah with a large force; and he stood by the conduit of the upper pool in the way of the fuller's field.

3. హిల్కీయా కూమారుడును రాజు గృహనిర్వాహ కుడును నైన ఎల్యాకీమును శాస్త్రియగు షెబ్నాయును, రాజ్యపు దస్తావేజులమీదనున్న ఆసాపు కుమారుడగు యోవాహును వారియొద్దకు పోయిరి.

3. And there went forth to him Eliakim the steward, the [son] of Hilkiah, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the [son] of Asaph, the recorder.

4. అప్పుడు రబ్షాకే వారితో ఇట్లనెనుఈ మాట హిజ్కియాతో తెలియ జెప్పుడిమహారాజైన అష్షూరురాజు సెలవిచ్చినదేమనగా నీవీలాగు చెప్పవలెను. నీవు నమ్ముకొను ఈ ఆశ్రయాస్పదుడు ఏపాటి ప్రయోజనకారి?

4. And Rabshakeh said to them, Say to Hezekiah, Thus says the great king, the king of the Assyrians, Why are you secure?

5. యుద్ధవిషయములో నీ యోచనయు నీ బలమును వట్టిమాటలే. ఎవని నమ్ముకొని నామీద తిరుగుబాటు చేయుచున్నావు?

5. Is war carried on with counsel and [mere] words of the lips? And now on whom do you trust, that you rebel against me?

6. నలిగిన రెల్లువంటి యీ ఐగుప్తును నీవు నమ్ముకొనుచున్నావు గదా; ఒకడు దానిమీద ఆనుకొన్నయెడల అది వాని చేతికి గుచ్చుకొని దూసిపోవును. ఐగుప్తురాజైన ఫరో అతని నమ్ముకొనువారికందరికి అట్టివాడే.

6. Behold, you trust on this bruised staff of reed, on Egypt; [as soon] as a man leans upon it, it shall go into his hand, and pierce it; so is Pharaoh king of Egypt and all that trust in him.

7. మా దేవుడైన యెహోవాను మేము నమ్ముకొనుచున్నామని మీరు నాతో చెప్పెదరేమో సరే; యెరూషలేమందున్న యీ బలిపీఠము నొద్ద మాత్రమే మీరు నమస్కారము చేయవలెనని యూదావారికిని యెరూషలేమువారికిని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చి, హిజ్కియా యెవని ఉన్నత స్థలములను బలిపీఠములను పడగొట్టెనో ఆయనేగదా యెహోవా.

7. But if you say, We trust in the Lord our God;

8. కావున చిత్తగించి అష్షూరు రాజైన నా యేలినవానితో పందెము వేయుము; రెండు వేల గుఱ్ఱములమీద రౌతులను ఎక్కించుటకు నీకు శక్తి యున్నయెడల నేను వాటిని నీకిచ్చెదను.

8. yet now make an agreement with my lord the king of the Assyrians, and I will give you two thousand horses, if you shall be able to set riders upon them.

9. లేనియెడల నా యజమానుని సేవకులలో అత్యల్పుడైన అధిపతియగు ఒకని నీవేలాగు ఎదిరింతువు? రథములను రౌతులను పంపునని ఐగుప్తురాజును నీవు ఆశ్రయించు కొంటివే.

9. And how can you [then] turn to the face of the satraps? They that trust on the Egyptians for horse and rider are [our] servants.

10. యెహోవా సెలవు నొందకయే యీ దేశమును పాడుచేయుటకు నేను వచ్చితినా? లేదు ఆ దేశముమీదికి పోయి దాని పాడుచేయుమని యెహోవా నాకు ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను అని చెప్పెను.

10. And now, Have we come up against this land to fight against it without the Lord? The Lord said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.

11. ఎల్యాకీము షెబ్నా యోవాహు అను వారుచిత్తగించుము నీ దాసులమైన మాకు సిరియా భాష తెలియును గనుక దానితో మాట లాడుము, ప్రాకారముమీదనున్న ప్రజల వినికిడిలో యూదుల భాషతో మాటలాడకుమని రబ్షాకేతో అనగా

11. Then Eliakim, Shebna and Joah said to him, Speak to your servants in the Syrian tongue; for we understand [it]; and speak not to us in the Jewish tongue; and why do you speak in the ears of the men on the wall?

12. రబ్షాకేఈ మాటలు చెప్పుటకై నా యజమానుడు నీ యజమానునియొద్దకును నీయొద్దకును నన్ను పంపెనా? తమ మలమును తినునట్లును తమ మూత్రమును త్రాగునట్లును మీతోకూడ ప్రాకారముమీద ఉన్న వారియొద్దకును నన్ను పంపెను గదా అని చెప్పి

12. And Rabshakeh said to them, Has my lord sent me to your master or to you, to speak these words? [Has he] not [sent] me to the men that sit on the wall, that they may eat dung, and drink [their] water together with you?

13. గొప్ప శబ్దముతో యూదాభాషతో ఇట్లనెనుమహారాజైన అష్షూరురాజు సెలవిచ్చిన మాటలు వినుడి. రాజు సెల విచ్చునదేమనగా

13. And Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jewish language, and said, Hear the words of the great king, the king of the Assyrians:

14. హిజ్కియాచేత మోసపోకుడి; మిమ్మును విడిపింప శక్తి వానికి చాలదు.

14. Thus says the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you with words; he will not be able to deliver you.

15. యెహోవాను బట్టి మిమ్మును నమ్మించియెహోవా మనలను విడిపించును; ఈ పట్టణము అష్షూరు రాజు చేతిలో చిక్కక పోవునని హిజ్కియా చెప్పుచున్నాడే.

15. And let not Hezekiah say to you, That God will deliver you, and this city will not at all be delivered into the hand of the king of the Assyrians.

16. హిజ్కియా చెప్పిన మాట మీరంగీకరింపవలదు; అష్షూరురాజు సెలవిచ్చున దేమనగా నాతో సంధి చేసికొని నాయొద్దకు మీరు బయటికి వచ్చినయెడల మీలో ప్రతి మనిషి తన ద్రాక్ష చెట్టు ఫలమును తన అంజూరపు చెట్టు ఫలమును తినుచు తన బావి నీళ్లు త్రాగుచు నుండును.

16. Hearken not to Hezekiah; thus says the king of the Assyrians: If you wish to be blessed, come out to me; and you shall all eat [of] his own vine and his [own] fig trees, and you shall drink water out of your own cisterns;

17. అటుపిమ్మట మీరు చావక బ్రదుకునట్లుగా నేను వచ్చి మీ దేశమువంటి దేశమునకు, అనగా గోధుమలును ద్రాక్షారసమును గల దేశమునకును ఆహారమును ద్రాక్షచెట్లునుగల దేశమునకును మిమ్మును తీసికొని పోదును; యెహోవా మిమ్మును విడిపించునని చెప్పి హిజ్కియా మిమ్మును మోసపుచ్చు చున్నాడు.

17. until I come and take you to a land, like your own land, a land of grain and wine, and bread and vineyards.

18. ఆయా జనముల దేవతలలో ఏదైనను తన దేశమును అష్షూరు రాజు చేతిలోనుండి విడిపించెనా? హమాతు దేవతలేమాయెను?

18. Let not Hezekiah deceive you, saying, God will deliver you. Have the gods of the nations delivered each one his own land out of the hand of the king of the Assyrians?

19. అర్పాదు దేవతలేమాయెను? సెపర్వయీము దేవతలేమాయెను? షోమ్రోను దేశపు దేవత నా చేతిలోనుండి షోమ్రోనును విడిపించెనా?

19. Where is the god of Hamath, and Arpad? And where is the god of Sepharvaim? Have they been able to deliver Samaria out of my hand?

20. యెహోవా నా చేతిలో నుండి యెరూషలేమును విడిపించుననుటకు ఈ దేశముల దేవతలలో ఏదైనను తన దేశమును నా చేతిలోనుండి విడిపించినది కలదా? అని చెప్పెను.

20. Which is the god of all these nations that has delivered his land out of my hand, that God should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?

21. అయితే అతనికి ప్రత్యుత్తర మియ్యవద్దని రాజు సెలవిచ్చి యుండుటచేత వారెంతమాత్రమును ప్రత్యుత్తరమియ్యక ఊరకొనిరి.

21. And they were silent, and none answered him a word; because the king had commanded that none should answer.

22. గృహనిర్వాహకుడును హిల్కీయా కుమారుడునైన ఎల్యాకీమును, శాస్త్రియగు షెబ్నాయును, రాజ్యపు దస్తావేజులమీదనున్న ఆసాపు కుమారుడగు యోవాహును బట్టలు చింపుకొని హిజ్కియాయొద్దకు వచ్చి రబ్షాకే పలికిన మాటలన్నియు తెలియజెప్పిరి.

22. And Eliakim the [son] of Hilkiah, the steward, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the [son] of Asaph the recorder, came in to Hezekiah, having torn their clothes, and they reported to him the words of Rabshakeh.
