1. నా కుమారుడా, నా మాటలను మనస్సున నుంచు కొనుము నా ఆజ్ఞలను నీ యొద్ద దాచిపెట్టుకొనుము.

1. My child, keep my words, and treasure my precepts,

2. నా ఆజ్ఞలను నీవు మనస్సున నుంచుకొనినయెడల నీ కనుపాపవలె నా ఉపదేశమును కాపాడినయెడల నీవు బ్రదుకుదువు.

2. keep my precepts and you will live, keep my teaching as the apple of your eye.

3. నీ వ్రేళ్లకు వాటిని కట్టుకొనుము నీ హృదయమను పలకమీద వాటిని వ్రాసికొనుము

3. Bind these to your fingers, write them on the tablet of your heart.

4. జ్ఞానముతోనీవు నాకు అక్కవనియు తెలివితోనీవు నాకు చెలికత్తెవనియు చెప్పుము.

4. Say to Wisdom, 'You are my sister!' Call Understanding your relation,

5. అవి నీవు జారస్త్రీయొద్దకు పోకుండను ఇచ్చకములాడు పరస్త్రీకి లోబడకుండను నిన్ను కాపాడును.

5. to save yourself from the woman that belongs to another, from the stranger, with her seductive words.

6. నా యింటి కిటికీలోనుండి నా అల్లిక కిటికీలోనుండి నేను పారజూడగా జ్ఞానములేనివారి మధ్యను

6. While I was at the window of my house, I was looking out through the lattice

7. ¸యౌవనుల మధ్యను బుద్ధిలేని పడుచువాడొకడు నాకు కనబడెను.

7. and I saw, among the callow youths, I noticed among the lads, one boy who had no sense.

8. సందెవేళ ప్రొద్దు గ్రుంకినతరువాత చిమ్మచీకటిగల రాత్రివేళ

8. Going along the lane, near the corner where she lives, he reaches the path to her house,

9. వాడు జారస్త్రీ సందుదగ్గరనున్న వీధిలో తిరుగు చుండెను దాని యింటిమార్గమున నడుచుచుండెను.

9. at twilight when day is declining, at dead of night and in the dark.

10. అంతట వేశ్యావేషము వేసికొనిన కపటముగల స్త్రీ ఒకతె వానిని ఎదుర్కొన వచ్చెను.

10. And look, a woman is coming to meet him, dressed like a prostitute, false of heart.

11. అది బొబ్బలు పెట్టునది, స్వేచ్ఛగా తిరుగునది, దాని పాదములు దాని యింట నిలువవు.

11. She is loud and brazen; her feet cannot rest at home.

12. ఒకప్పుడు ఇంటియెదుటను ఒకప్పుడు సంతవీధులలోను అది యుండును. ప్రతి సందుదగ్గరను అది పొంచియుండును.

12. Once in the street, once in the square, she lurks at every corner.

13. అది వానిని పట్టుకొని ముద్దుపెట్టుకొనెను సిగ్గుమాలిన ముఖము పెట్టుకొని యిట్లనెను

13. She catches hold of him, she kisses him, the bold-faced creature says to him,

14. సమాధానబలులను నేను అర్పింపవలసియుంటిని నేడు నా మ్రొక్కుబళ్లు చెల్లించియున్నాను

14. 'I had to offer a communion sacrifice, I have discharged my vows today;

15. కాబట్టి నేను నిన్ను కలిసికొనవలెనని రాగా నిన్ను ఎదుర్కొనవలెనని బయలుదేరగా నీవేకనబడితివి

15. that is why I came out to meet you, to look for you, and now I have found you.

16. నా మంచముమీద రత్నకంబళ్లను ఐగుప్తునుండి వచ్చు విచిత్రపుపనిగల నారదుప్పట్లను నేను పరచియున్నాను.

16. I have spread coverlets over my divan, embroidered stuff, Egyptian material,

17. నా పరుపుమీద బోళము అగరు కారపుచెక్క చల్లి యున్నాను.

17. I have sprinkled my bed with myrrh, with aloes and cinnamon.

18. ఉదయము వరకు వలపుదీర తృప్తిపొందుదము రమ్ము పరస్పరమోహముచేత చాలా సంతుష్టి నొందుదము రమ్ము.

18. Come on, we'll make love as much as we like, till morning. Let us enjoy the delights of love!

19. పురుషుడు ఇంట లేడు దూరప్రయాణము వెళ్లియున్నాడు

19. For my husband is not at home, he has gone on a very long journey,

20. అతడు సొమ్ముసంచి చేత పట్టుకొని పోయెను. పున్నమనాటివరకు ఇంటికి తిరిగి రాడు అనెను

20. taking his moneybags with him; he will not be back till the moon is full.'

21. అది తన అధికమైన లాలనమాటలచేత వానిని లోపరచు కొనెను తాను పలికిన యిచ్చకపుమాటలచేత వాని నీడ్చుకొని పోయెను.

21. With her persistent coaxing she overcomes him, lures him on with her wheedling patter.

22. వెంటనే పశువు వధకు పోవునట్లును పరులచే జిక్కినవాడు సంకెళ్లలోనికి పోవునట్లును

22. Forthwith he follows her, like an ox on its way to the slaughterhouse, like a madman on his way to the stocks,

23. తనకు ప్రాణహానికరమైనదని యెరుగక ఉరియొద్దకు పక్షి త్వరపడునట్లును వాని గుండెను అంబు చీల్చువరకు వాడు దానివెంట పోయెను.

23. until an arrow pierces him to the liver, like the bird that dashes into the net without realising that its life is at stake.

24. నా కుమారులారా, చెవియొగ్గుడి నా నోటి మాటల నాలకింపుడి

24. And now, son, listen to me, pay attention to the words I have to say:

25. జారస్త్రీ మార్గములతట్టు నీ మనస్సు తొలగనియ్యకుము దారి తప్పి అది నడచు త్రోవలలోనికి పోకుము.

25. do not let your heart stray into her ways, or wander into her paths;

26. అది గాయపరచి పడద్రోసినవారు అనేకులు అది చంపినవారు లెక్కలేనంతమంది

26. she has done so many to death, and the strongest have all been her victims.

27. దాని యిల్లు పాతాళమునకుపోవు మార్గము ఆ మార్గము మరణశాలలకు దిగిపోవును.

27. Her house is the way to Sheol, the descent to the courts of death.
