1. మోషే కొండదిగకుండ తడవుచేయుట ప్రజలు చూచినప్పుడు ఆ ప్రజలు అహరోనునొద్దకు కూడి వచ్చి లెమ్ము, మా ముందర నడుచుటకు ఒక దేవతను మాకొరకు చేయుము. ఐగుప్తులోనుండి మమ్మును రప్పించిన ఆ మోషే అనువాడు ఏమాయెనో మాకు తెలియదని అతనితో చెప్పిరి.

1. And, when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him Up, make for us gods, who shall go before us, for, as for this Moses the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we know not what hath befallen him.

2. అందుకు అహరోను మీ భార్యలకు మీ కుమారులకు మీ కుమార్తెలకు చెవుల నున్న బంగారు పోగులను తీసి నాయొద్దకు తెండని వారితో చెప్పగా

2. And Aaron said unto them, Break off the rings of gold, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.

3. ప్రజలందరు తమ చెవులనున్న బంగారు పోగులను తీసి అహరోను నొద్దకు తెచ్చిరి.

3. And all the people of themselves brake off the rings of gold which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.

4. అతడు వారియొద్ద వాటిని తీసికొని పోగరతో రూపమును ఏర్పరచి దానిని పోత పోసిన దూడగా చేసెను. అప్పుడు వారు ఓ ఇశ్రాయేలూ, ఐగుప్తుదేశములోనుండి నిన్ను రప్పించిన నీ దేవుడు ఇదే అనిరి.

4. And he received the gold at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, and made it a molten calf, and they said These, are thy gods, O Israel, who brought thee up, out of the land of Egypt.

5. అహరోను అది చూచి దాని యెదుట ఒక బలిపీఠము కట్టించెను. మరియు అహరోను రేపు యెహోవాకు పండుగ జరుగునని చాటింపగా

5. And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it. And Aaron made proclamation, and said, A festival to Yahweh, to-morrow!

6. మరునాడు వారు ఉదయమున లేచి దహన బలులను సమాధానబలుల నర్పించిరి. అప్పుడు జనులు తినుటకును త్రాగుటకును కూర్చుండి ఆడుటకు లేచిరి.

6. So they rose up early, on the morrow, and offered ascending-sacrifices, and brought near peace-offerings, and the people sat down, to eat and to drink, and then rose up to make sport!

7. కాగా యెహోవా మోషేతో ఇట్లనెను నీవు దిగి వెళ్లుము; ఐగుప్తుదేశమునుండి నీవు రప్పించిన నీ ప్రజలు చెడిపోయిరి.

7. Then spake Yahweh unto Moses Go get thee down, for thy people whom thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt have corrupted themselves.

8. నేను వారికి నియమించిన త్రోవనుండి త్వరగా తొలగిపోయి తమకొరకు పోతపోసిన దూడను చేసికొని దానికి సాగిలపడి బలినర్పించి ఓయి ఇశ్రాయేలూ, ఐగుప్తుదేశమునుండి నిన్ను రప్పించిన నీ దేవుడు ఇదే అని చెప్పుకొనిరనెను.

8. They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them, they have made for themselves a molten calf, and have bowed themselves down thereto mad have sacrificed thereto, and have said. These, are thy gods, O Israel, who have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

9. మరియు యెహోవా ఇట్లనెను నేను ఈ ప్రజలను చూచియున్నాను; ఇదిగో వారు లోబడనొల్లని ప్రజలు.

9. So then Yahweh said unto Moses, I have looked on this people, and lo! a stiff-necked people, it is.

10. కావున నీవు ఊరకుండుము; నా కోపము వారిమీద మండును, నేను వారిని కాల్చివేసి నిన్ను గొప్ప జనముగా చేసెదనని మోషేతో చెప్పగా

10. Now, therefore, let me alone, that mine anger may kindle upon them and that I may consume them, and may make of thee

11. మోషే తన దేవుడైన యెహోవాను బ్రతిమాలుకొని యెహోవా, నీవు మహాశక్తివలన బాహుబలము వలన ఐగుప్తు దేశములోనుండి రప్పించిన నీ ప్రజలమీద నీ కోపము మండనేల?

11. And Moses besought the face of Yahweh his God, and said Wherefore, O Yahweh, should thine anger kindle upon thy people, whom thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great might and with a firm hand?

12. ఆయన కొండలలో వారిని చంపునట్లును భూమిమీదనుండి వారిని నశింపచేయునట్లును కీడుకొరకే వారిని తీసికొని పోయెనని ఐగుప్తీయులు ఏల చెప్పుకొనవలెను? నీ కోపాగ్నినుండి మళ్లుకొని నీవు

12. Wherefore should the Egyptians speak saying For mischief, hath he taken them forth to slay them among the mountains, and to make an end of them from off the face of the ground? Turn thou from the kindling of thine anger, and be grieved over the calamity to thy people,

13. నీ సేవకులైన అబ్రాహామును ఇస్సాకును ఇశ్రాయేలును జ్ఞాపకము చేసికొనుము. నీవు వారితో ఆకాశనక్షత్రములవలె మీ సంతానము అభివృద్ధిజేసి నేను చెప్పిన యీ సమస్తభూమిని మీ సంతానమున కిచ్చెదననియు, వారు నిరంతరము దానికి హక్కుదారులగుదురనియు వారితో నీతోడని ప్రమాణముచేసి చెప్పితివనెను.

13. Have remembrance of Abraham, of Isaac and of Israel thy servants to whom thou didst swear by thyself, and didst speak unto them saying, I will multiply your seed, as the stars of the heavens, and, all this land of which I have spoken, will I give to your seed, and they shall inherit it to times age-abiding.

14. అంతట యెహోవా తన ప్రజలకు చేసెదనని చెప్పిన కీడునుగూర్చి సంతాపపడెను.

14. So then Yahweh was grieved, over the calamity which he had spoken of inflicting on his people.

15. మోషే శాసనములుగల రెండు పలకలను చేత పట్టుకొని కొండ దిగి వచ్చెను. ఆ పలకలు ఇరు ప్రక్కలను వ్రాయబడినవి; అవి ఈ ప్రక్కను ఆ ప్రక్కను వ్రాయ బడియుండెను.

15. And Moses turned and went down out of the mount, with the two tables of testimony in his hand, tables written upon on both sides of them, on this and on that, were they written.

16. ఆ పలకలు దేవుడు చేసినవి; ఆ పలకల మీద చెక్కబడిన వ్రాత దేవుని చేవ్రాత.

16. Now as for, the tables, the work of God, they were, and, as for the writing, the writing of God, it was, graven upon the tables.

17. ఆ ప్రజలు పెద్దకేకలు వేయుచుండగా యెహోషువ ఆ ధ్వని వినిపాళెములో యుద్ధధ్వని అని మోషేతో అనగా

17. And Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, so he said unto Moses The noise of war, in the camp!

18. అతడు అది జయధ్వనికాదు, అపజయ ధ్వనికాదు, సంగీత ధ్వని నాకు వినబడుచున్నదనెను.

18. But he said Not the noise of the cry of heroism, nor yet the noise of the cry of defeat, the noise of alternate song, do I hear.

19. అతడు పాళెమునకు సమీపింపగా, ఆ దూడను, వారు నాట్యమాడుటను చూచెను. అందుకు మోషే కోపము మండెను; అతడు కొండదిగువను తన చేతులలోనుండి ఆ పలకలను పడవేసి వాటిని పగులగొట్టెను.

19. And it came to pass when he drew near unto the camp, and saw the calf, and the dancings, that the anger of Moses kindled, and he cast out of his hands the tables, and brake them in pieces at the foot of the mountain.

20. మరియు అతడు వారు చేసిన ఆ దూడను తీసికొని అగ్నితో కాల్చి పొడిచేసి నీళ్లమీద చల్లి ఇశ్రాయేలీయులచేత దాని త్రాగించెను.

20. Then took he the calf which they had made and burned it in the fire, and ground it till it became powder, and strewed it on the face of the waters, and made the sons of Israel drink.

21. అప్పుడు మోషేనీవు ఈ ప్రజలమీదికి ఈ గొప్ప పాపము రప్పించునట్లు వారు నిన్ను ఏమిచేసిరని అహరోనును నడుగగా

21. And Moses said unto Aaron, What had this people done to thee, that thou shouldst have brought upon them a great sin?

22. అహరోను నా యేలినవాడా, నీ కోపము మండనియ్యకుము. ఈ ప్రజలు దుర్మార్గులను మాట నీ వెరుగుదువు.

22. And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord kindle, thou thyself, knowest the people, that ready for mischief, they are.

23. వారు మాకు ముందు నడుచుటకు ఒక దేవతను చేయుము; ఐగుప్తులోనుండి మమ్మును రప్పించినవాడగు ఈ మోషే యేమాయెనో మాకు తెలియదనిరి.

23. So they said to me Make for us gods, who shall go before us, for, as for this, Moses the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we know not what hath befallen him.

24. అందుకు నేను ఎవరియొద్ద బంగారము ఉన్నదో వారు దానిని ఊడదీసి తెండని చెప్పితిని. నేను దాని అగ్నిలో వేయగా ఈ దూడ యాయెననెను.

24. And I said to them Whosoever hath gold let them break it off, So they gave it to me, and I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.

25. ప్రజలు విచ్చల విడిగా తిరుగుట మోషే చూచెను. వారి విరోధులలో వారికి ఎగతాళి కలుగునట్లు అహరోను విచ్చలవిడిగా తిరుగుటకు వారిని విడిచి పెట్టి యుండెను.

25. And Moses saw the people, that unbridled, they were, for Aaron had given them the rein, for a whispering, among their enemies.

26. అందుకు మోషే పాళెముయొక్క ద్వారమున నిలిచి యెహోవా పక్షమున నున్న వారందరు నాయొద్దకు రండి అనగా లేవీయులందరును అతని యొద్దకు కూడి వచ్చిరి.

26. So Moses took his stand in the gate of the camp, and said Who is for Yahweh? To me! Then gathered unto him all the sons of Levi,

27. అతడు వారిని చూచి మీలో ప్రతివాడును తన కత్తిని తన నడుమున కట్టుకొని పాళెములో ద్వారము నుండి ద్వారమునకు వెళ్లుచు, ప్రతివాడు తన సహోదరుని ప్రతివాడు తన చెలికానిని ప్రతివాడు తన పొరుగువానిని చంపవలెనని ఇశ్రాయేలీయులదేవుడైన యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చుచున్నా డనెను.

27. And he said to them Thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel, Put ye every man his sword upon his thigh, pass through and return from gate to gate in the camp, and slay ye every man his brother and every man his friend and every man his neighbour.

28. లేవీయులు మోషే మాటచొప్పున చేయగా, ఆ దినమున ప్రజలలో ఇంచుమించు మూడువేలమంది కూలిరి.

28. So the sons of Levi did, according to the word of Moses, and there fell from among the people on that day, about three thousand men.

29. ఏలయనగా మోషే వారిని చూచి నేడు యెహోవా మిమ్మును ఆశీర్వదించునట్లు మీలో ప్రతివాడు తన కుమారునిమీద పడియేగాని తన సహోదరునిమీద పడియేగాని యెహోవాకు మిమ్మును మీరే ప్రతిష్ఠ చేసికొనుడనెను.

29. And Moses said Install yourselves to-day, unto Yahweh, yea every man for his son and for his brother, so will he bestow upon you to-day, a blessing.

30. మరునాడు మోషే ప్రజలతో మీరు గొప్ప పాపము చేసితిరి గనుక యెహోవాయొద్దకు కొండ యెక్కి వెళ్లెదను; ఒకవేళ మీ పాపమునకు ప్రాయశ్చిత్తము చేయగలనేమో అనెను.

30. And it came to pass, on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye, have sinned a great sin, Now, therefore, I must go up unto Yahweh, Peradventure, I may make a propitiatory-covering for your sin.

31. అప్పుడు మోషే యెహోవా యొద్దకు తిరిగి వెళ్లి అయ్యో యీ ప్రజలు గొప్ప పాపము చేసిరి; వారు బంగారు దేవతను తమకొరకు చేసికొనిరి.

31. So Moses returned unto Yahweh, and said, Oh now, this people hath sinned a great sin, and they have made for themselves gods of gold.

32. అయ్యో నీవు వారి పాపమును ఒకవేళ పరిహరించితివా, లేనియెడల నీవు వ్రాసిన నీ గ్రంథములో నుండి నా పేరు తుడిచివేయుమని బ్రతిమాలుకొనుచున్నాననెను.

32. Now, therefore, if thou wilt forgive their sin, but if not, blot me I pray thee out of thy book, which thou hast written,

33. అందుకు యెహోవా యెవడు నా యెదుట పాపము చేసెనో వాని నా గ్రంథములోనుండి తుడిచి వేయుదును.

33. And Yahweh said unto Moses, Him who hath sinned against me, must I blot out of my book.

34. కాబట్టి నీవు వెళ్లి నేను నీతో చెప్పిన చోటికి ప్రజలను నడిపించుము. ఇదిగో నా దూత నీకు ముందుగా వెళ్లును. నేను వచ్చు దినమున వారి పాపమును వారి మీదికి రప్పించెదనని మోషేతో చెప్పెను.

34. Now, therefore, go lead the people to the place of which I spake to thee, lo! a my messenger, shall go before thee, But, in the day when I do visit, then wilt I visit upon them their sin.

35. అహరోను కల్పించిన దూడను ప్రజలు చేయించినందున యెహోవా వారిని బాధపెట్టెను.

35. And Yahweh plagued the people, for what they had done with the calf, which Aaron made.
