1. ఐగుప్తులోనికి యాకోబుతో వచ్చిన ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల పేరులు ఏవనగా, రూబేను షిమ్యోను లేవి యూదా ఇశ్శాఖారు జెబూలూను బెన్యామీను.

1. Now, these, are the names of the Sons of Israel, who came into Egypt, with Jacob, did each man and his household come in:

2. దాను నఫ్తాలి గాదు ఆషేరు.

2. Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah;

3. వీరిలో ప్రతివాడును తన తన కుటుంబముతో వచ్చెను.

3. Issachar, Zebulon, and Benjamin;

4. యాకోబు గర్భమున పుట్టినవారందరు డెబ్బదిమంది.

4. Dan and Naphtali, Gad and Asher.

5. అప్పటికి యోసేపు ఐగుప్తులో ఉండెను.

5. And it came to pass that all the persons who were descended from Jacob were seventy souls, but, Joseph, was already in Egypt.

6. యోసేపును అతని అన్నదమ్ములందరును ఆ తరమువారందరును చనిపోయిరి.

6. So then Joseph died and all his brethren, and all that generation.

7. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు బహు సంతానము గలవారై అభివృద్ధి పొంది విస్తరించి అత్యధికముగా ప్రబలిరి; వారున్న ప్రదేశము వారితో నిండియుండెను.

7. But the sons of Israel, were fruitful and swarmed and multiplied and waxed mighty, with exceeding vigour, so that the land was filled with them.

8. అప్పుడు యోసేపును ఎరుగని క్రొత్త రాజు ఐగుప్తును ఏలనారంభించెను.

8. Then arose a new king over Egypt, who had not known Joseph.

9. అతడు తన జనులతో ఇట్లనెను ఇదిగో ఇశ్రాయేలు సంతతియైన యీ జనము మనకంటె విస్తారముగాను బలిష్ఠముగాను ఉన్నది.

9. So he said, unto his people, Lo! the people of the sons of Israel are too many and mighty for us!

10. వారు విస్తరింపకుండునట్లు మనము వారి యెడల యుక్తిగా జరిగించుదము రండి; లేనియెడల యుద్ధము కలుగునప్పుడు కూడ మన శత్రువులతో చేరి మనకు విరోధముగా యుద్ధముచేసి యీ దేశములోనుండి, వెళ్లిపోదురేమో అనెను.
అపో. కార్యములు 7:19

10. Come on! let us shew ourselves wise with regard to them, lest they so multiply that it shall come to pass when war befalleth us, that they also, shall join themselves unto them who hate us, and shall make war upon us. and then go up out of the land.

11. కాబట్టి వారిమీద పెట్టిన భారములలో వారిని శ్రమపెట్టుటకు వెట్టి పనులు చేయించు అధికారులను వారిమీద నియమింపగా వారు ఫరోకొరకు ధాన్యాదులను నిలువచేయు పీతోము రామెసేసను పట్టణములను కట్టిరి.

11. So they set over them chiefs of tribute, to the end they might humiliate them with their burdens, and they built store-cities for Pharaoh, even Pithom and Raamses.

12. అయినను ఐగుప్తీయులు వారిని శ్రమపెట్టినకొలది వారు విస్తరించి ప్రబలిరి గనుక వారు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల యెడల అసహ్యపడిరి.

12. But the more they were humiliating them, the more, were they multiplying, and, the more, were they breaking forth, so they were filled with alarm because of the sons of Israel.

13. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులచేత ఐగుప్తీయులు కఠినముగా సేవ చేయించుకొనిరి;

13. And the Egyptians rigorously made the sons of Israel serve;

14. వారు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులచేత చేయించుకొనిన ప్రతి పనియు కఠినముగా ఉండెను. వారు జిగటమంటి పనిలోను, ఇటుకల పనిలోను, పొలములో చేయు ప్రతిపనిలోను కఠినసేవ చేయించి వారి ప్రాణములను విసికించిరి.

14. and embittered their lives with harsh service, in clay and in bricks, and in all manner of service in the field, all their service, wherein they rigorously made them serve.

15. మరియు ఐగుప్తురాజు షిఫ్రా పూయా అను హెబ్రీయుల మంత్రసానులతో మాటలాడి

15. Then said the king of Egypt to the Hebrew midwives, of whom, the name of the one was, Shiphrah, and, the name of the other Puah;

16. మీరు హెబ్రీ స్త్రీలకు మంత్రసానిపని చేయుచు వారిని కాన్పుపీటల మీద చూచినప్పుడు మగవాడైనయెడల వాని చంపుడి, ఆడుదైనయెడల దాని బ్రదుకనియ్యుడని వారితో చెప్పెను.

16. then he said When ye act as midwives unto the Hebrew women, then shall ye look out for the sex, If it is, a son, then shall ye kill it, But, if it is, a daughter, then shall it live.

17. అయితే ఆ మంత్రసానులు దేవునికి భయపడి, ఐగుప్తురాజు తమ కాజ్ఞాపించినట్లు చేయక మగపిల్లలను బ్రదుకనియ్యగా

17. But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt spake unto them, but suffered the male children to live.

18. ఐగుప్తురాజు ఆ మంత్రసానులను పిలిపించి మీరెందుకు మగపిల్లలను బ్రదుకనిచ్చితిరి? ఈ పనియేల చేసితిరి అని అడిగెను.

18. Then called the king of Egypt for the midwives, and said to them Wherefore have ye done this thing, that ye should let the male children live?

19. అందుకు ఆ మంత్రసానులు హెబ్రీ స్త్రీలు ఐగుప్తు స్త్రీలవంటివారు కారు; వారు చురుకైనవారు. మంత్రసాని వారియొద్దకు వెళ్లక మునుపే వారు ప్రసవించి యుందురని ఫరోతో చెప్పిరి.

19. And the midwives said unto Pharaoh. Because not like the Egyptian women, are the Hebrew women, for they are full of life, ere yes the midwife can come in unto them, they have given birth,

20. దేవుడు ఆ మంత్రసానులకు మేలుచేసెను. ఆ జనము విస్తరించి మిక్కిలి ప్రబలెను.

20. So then God dealt well with the midwives, and the people multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty.

21. ఆ మంత్రసానులు దేవునికి భయపడినందున ఆయన వారికి వంశాభివృద్ధి కలుగజేసెను.

21. And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made for them households.

22. అయితే ఫరో హెబ్రీయులలో పుట్టిన ప్రతి కుమారుని నదిలో పారవేయుడి, ప్రతి కుమార్తెను బ్రదుకనియ్యుడి అని తన జనులందరికి ఆజ్ఞాపించెను.

22. Then gave Pharaoh command to all his people saying Every son that is born to the Hebrews, into the river, shall ye cast him; But every daughter, shall ye suffer to live.
