1. తమ సహోదరులైన యూదుల మీద జనులును వారి భార్యలును కఠినమైన ఫిర్యాదుచేసిరి.

1. And there is a great cry of the people and their wives, concerning their brethren the Jews,

2. ఏదనగా కొందరు మేమును మా కుమారులును మా కుమార్తెలును అనేకు లము. అందుచేత మేము తిని బ్రదుకుటకు ధాన్యము మీయొద్ద తీసి కొందుమనిరి.

2. yea, there are who are saying, 'Our sons, and our daughters, we -- are many, and we receive corn, and eat, and live.'

3. మరికొందరుక్షామ మున్నందున మా భూములను ద్రాక్షతోటలను మాయిండ్లను కుదువ పెట్టితివిు గనుక మీయొద్ద ధాన్యము తీసికొందు మనిరి.

3. And there are who are saying, 'Our fields, and our vineyards, and our houses, we are pledging, and we receive corn for the famine.'

4. మరికొందరురాజుగారికి పన్ను చెల్లించుటకై మా భూములమీదను మా ద్రాక్షతోటలమీదను మేము అప్పు చేసితివిు.

4. And there are who are saying, 'We have borrowed money for the tribute of the king, [on] our fields, and our vineyards;

5. మా ప్రాణము మా సహోదరుల ప్రాణమువంటిది కాదా? మా పిల్లలు వారి పిల్లలను పోలిన వారు కారా? మా కుమారులను మా కుమార్తెలను దాసులగుటకై అప్పగింపవలసి వచ్చెను; ఇప్పటికిని మా కుమార్తె లలో కొందరు దాసత్వములో నున్నారు, మా భూములును మా ద్రాక్షతోటలును అన్యులవశమున నుండగా వారిని విడిపించుటకు మాకు శక్తి చాలకున్నదని చెప్పగా

5. and now, as the flesh of our brethren [is] our flesh, as their sons [are] our sons, and lo, we are subduing our sons and our daughters for servants, and there are of our daughters subdued, and our hand hath no might, and our fields and our vineyards [are] to others.'

6. వారి ఫిర్యాదును ఈ మాటలను నేను వినినప్పుడు మిగుల కోపపడితిని.

6. And it is very displeasing to me when I have heard their cry and these words,

7. అంతట నాలో నేనే యోచనచేసి ప్రధానులను అధికారులను గద్దించిమీరు మీ సహోదరులయొద్ద వడ్డి పుచ్చుకొనుచున్నారని చెప్పి వారిని ఆటంకపరచుటకై మహా సమాజమును సమకూర్చి

7. and my heart reigneth over me, and I strive with the freemen, and with the prefects, and say to them, 'Usury one upon another ye are exacting;' and I set against them a great assembly,

8. అన్యులకు అమ్మబడిన మా సహోదరులైన యూదులను మా శక్తికొలది మేము విడిపించితివిు, మీరు మీ సహోదరులను అమ్ముదురా? వారు మనకు అమ్మబడవచ్చునా? అని వారితో చెప్పగా, వారు ఏమియు చెప్పలేక ఊరకుండిరి.

8. and say to them, 'We have acquired our brethren the Jews, those sold to the nations, according to the ability that [is] in us, and ye also sell your brethren, and they have been sold to us!' and they are silent, and have not found a word.

9. మరియు నేనుమీరు చేయునది మంచిది కాదు, మన శత్రువులైన అన్యుల నిందనుబట్టి మన దేవునికి భయపడి మీరు ప్రవర్తింప కూడదా?

9. And I say, 'Not good [is] the thing that ye are doing; in the fear of our God do ye not walk, because of the reproach of the nations our enemies?

10. నేనును నా బంధువులును నా దాసులునుకూడ ఆలాగుననే వారికి సొమ్మును ధాన్యమును అప్పుగా ఇచ్చితివిు; ఆ అప్పు పుచ్చుకొనకుందము.

10. And also, I, my brethren, and my servants, are exacting of them silver and corn; let us leave off, I pray you, this usury.

11. ఈ దినములోనే వారియొద్ద మీరు అపహరించిన భూములను ద్రాక్షతోటలను ఒలీవతోటలను వారి యిండ్లను వారికి అప్పుగా ఇచ్చిన సొమ్ములోను ధాన్యములోను ద్రాక్షారసములోను నూనెలోను నూరవభాగమును వారికి మరల అప్పగించుడని నేను మిమ్మును బతిమాలుచున్నాను అంటిని.

11. Give back, I pray you, to them, as to-day, their fields, their vineyards, their olive-yards, and their houses, and the hundredth [part] of the money, and of the corn, of the new wine, and of the oil, that ye are exacting of them.'

12. అందుకు వారునీవు చెప్పినప్రకారమే యివన్నియు ఇచ్చివేసి వారియొద్ద ఏమియు కోరమనిరి. అంతట నేను యాజకులను పిలిచి ఈ వాగ్దాన ప్రకారము జరిగించుటకు వారిచేత ప్రమాణము చేయించితిని.

12. And they say, 'We give back, and of them we seek nothing; so we do as thou art saying.' And I call the priests, and cause them to swear to do according to this thing;

13. మరియు నేను నా ఒడిని దులిపిఈ ప్రకారమే దేవుడు ఈ వాగ్దానము నెరవేర్చని ప్రతివానిని తన యింటిలో ఉండకయు తన పని ముగింపకయు నుండునట్లు దులిపివేయును; ఇటువలె వాడు దులిపి వేయబడి యేమియు లేనివాడుగా చేయబడునుగాకని చెప్పగా, సమాజకులందరు ఆలాగు కలుగునుగాక అని చెప్పి యెహోవాను స్తుతించిరి. జనులందరును ఈ మాట చొప్పుననే జరిగించిరి.

13. also, my lap I have shaken, and I say, 'Thus doth God shake out every man, who doth not perform this thing, from his house, and from his labour; yea, thus is he shaken out and empty;' and all the assembly say, 'Amen,' and praise Jehovah; and the people do according to this thing.

14. మరియు నేను యూదాదేశములో వారికి అధికారిగా నిర్ణయింపబడినకాలము మొదలుకొని, అనగా అర్తహషస్త రాజు ఏలుబడియందు ఇరువదియవ సంవత్సరము మొదలుకొని ముప్పదిరెండవ సంవత్సరము వరకు పండ్రెండు సంవత్సరములు అధికారికి రావలసిన సొమ్మును నేనుగాని నా బంధువులుగాని తీసికొనలేదు.

14. Also, from the day that he appointed me to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even unto the thirty and second year of Artaxerxes the king -- twelve years -- I, and my brethren, the bread of the governor have not eaten:

15. అయితే నాకు ముందుగానుండిన అధికారులు జనులయొద్ద నుండి ఆహారమును ద్రాక్షారసమును నలువది తులముల వెండిని తీసికొనుచు వచ్చిరి; వారి పనివారు సహా జనుల మీద భారము మోపుచు వచ్చిరి, అయితే దేవుని భయము చేత నేనాలాగున చేయలేదు.

15. the former governors who [are] before me have made themselves heavy on the people, and take of them in bread and wine, besides in silver forty shekels; also, their servants have ruled over the people -- and I have not done so, because of the fear of God.

16. ఇదియుగాక నేను ఈ గోడపని చేయగా నా పనివారును ఆ పనిచేయుచు వచ్చిరి.

16. And also, in the work of this wall I have done mightily, even a field we have not bought, and all my servants are gathered there for the work;

17. భూమి సంపాదించుకొనినవారము కాము; నా భోజనపు బల్లయొద్ద మా చుట్టునున్న అన్యజనులలోనుండి వచ్చిన వారు గాక యూదులును అధికారులును నూట ఏబదిమంది కూర్చునియుండిరి.

17. and of the Jews, and of the prefects, a hundred and fifty men, and those coming in unto us of the nations that [are] round about us, [are] at my table;

18. నా నిమిత్తము ప్రతి దినము ఒక యెద్దును శ్రేష్ఠమైన ఆరు గొఱ్ఱెలును సిద్ధము చేయబడెను. ఇవియుగాక కోళ్లను, పదిరోజులకు ఒకమారు నానావిధమైన ద్రాక్షారసములను సిద్ధము చేసితిని. ఈ ప్రకారముగా చేసినను ఈ జనుల దాసత్వము బహు కఠినముగా ఉండినందున అధికారికి రావలసిన సొమ్మును నేను అపేక్షింపలేదు.

18. and that which hath been prepared for one day [is] one ox, six fat sheep, also fowls have been prepared for me, and once in ten days of all wines abundantly, and with this, the bread of the governor I have not sought, for heavy is the service on this people.

19. నా దేవా, ఈ జనులకు నేను చేసిన సకలమైన ఉపకారములనుబట్టి నాకు మేలు కలుగు నట్లుగా నన్ను దృష్టించుము.

19. Remember for me, O my God, for good, all that I have done for this people.
