1. యోషీయా యేలనారంభించినప్పుడు ఎనిమిదేండ్ల వాడై యెరూషలేములో ముప్పది యొక సంవత్సరము ఏలెను.

1. Yoshiyahu was eight years old when he began his reign, and he ruled for thirty-one years in Yerushalayim.

2. అతడు యెహోవా దృష్టికి నీతి ననుసరించుచు, కుడికైనను ఎడమకైనను తొలగకుండ తన పితరుడైన దావీదు చూపిన ప్రవర్తనకు సరిగా ప్రవర్తించెను.

2. He did what was right from ADONAI's perspective, living entirely in the manner of David his ancestor and turning away neither to the right nor to the left.

3. తన యేలుబడి యందు ఎనిమిదవ సంవత్సరమున తానింకను బాలుడై యుండగానే అతడు తన పితరుడైన దావీదుయొక్క దేవునియొద్ద విచారించుటకు పూనుకొనినవాడై, పండ్రెండవయేట ఉన్నతస్థలములను దేవతాస్తంభములను పడగొట్టి, చెక్కిన విగ్రహములను పోతవిగ్రహములను తీసివేసి, యూదాదేశమును యెరూషలేమును పవిత్రముచేయ నారంభించెను.

3. For in the eighth year of his reign, when he was still young, he began seeking after the God of David his father; and in the twelfth year, he began cleansing Y'hudah and Yerushalayim from the high places, the sacred poles, and the carved and cast metal images.

4. అతడు చూచుచుండగా జనులు బయలు దేవతల బలిపీఠములను పడగొట్టి, వాటిపైన ఉన్న సూర్య దేవతల విగ్రహములను అతని ఆజ్ఞచొప్పున నరికివేసి, దేవతా స్తంభములను చెక్కిన విగ్రహములను పోత విగ్రహములను తుత్తునియలుగా కొట్టి చూర్ణముచేసి, వాటికి బలులు అర్పించినవారి సమాధులమీద చల్లి వేసిరి.

4. In his presence they broke down the altars of the [ba'alim], and he chopped down the pillars for sun-worship mounted above them. He smashed the sacred poles and the carved and cast metal images, grinding them to dust, which he threw on the graves of those who had sacrificed to them.

5. బయలుదేవత యాజకుల శల్యములను బలిపీఠములమీద అతడు కాల్పించి, యూదాదేశమును యెరూషలేమును పవిత్రపరచెను.

5. He burned the bones of the priests on their altars, thus cleansing Y'hudah and Yerushalayim.

6. ఆ ప్రకారము అతడు మనష్షే ఎఫ్రాయిము షిమ్యోను దేశములవారి పట్టణములలోను, నఫ్తాలి మన్యమునందును, చుట్టుపట్లనున్న పాడుస్థలములన్నిటను బలిపీఠములను పడ గొట్టెను.

6. He did likewise in the cities of M'nasheh, Efrayim, Shim'on and even as far as Naftali, in their surrounding ruins.

7. బలిపీఠములను దేవతా స్తంభములను పడగొట్టి చెక్కిన విగ్రహములను చూర్ణముచేసి, ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేశమంతటనున్న సూర్యదేవతా విగ్రహములన్నిటిని నరికి వేసి అతడు యెరూషలేమునకు తిరిగి వచ్చెను.

7. He broke down the altars, beat the sacred poles and carved images to powder and chopped down the pillars for sun-worship throughout all the land of Isra'el. Then he returned to Yerushalayim.

8. అతని యేలుబడియందు పదునెనిమిదవ సంవత్సరమున, దేశమును మందిరమును పవిత్రపరచుటయైన తరువాత, అతడు అజల్యా కుమారుడైన షాఫానును, పట్టాణాధిపతి యైన మయశేయాను, రాజ్యపు దస్తావేజులమీదనున్న యోహాహాజు కుమారుడగు యోవాహాజును, తన దేవుడైన యెహోవా మందిరమును బాగుచేయుటకై పంపెను.

8. In the eighteenth year of his reign, after he had cleansed the land and the house, he sent Shafan the son of Atzalyahu, Ma'aseiyah the governor of the city and Yo'ach the son of Yo'achaz the recorder to repair the house of ADONAI his God.

9. వారు ప్రధానయాజకుడైన హిల్కీయాయొద్దకు వచ్చి, ద్వారపాలకులైన లేవీయులు మనష్షే ఎఫ్రాయిమీయుల దేశములయందు ఇశ్రాయేలువారిలో శేషించియున్న వారందరియొద్దనుండియు, యూదా బెన్యామీనీయులందరి యొద్ద నుండియు కూర్చి, దేవుని మందిరములోనికి తీసికొని వచ్చిన ద్రవ్యమును అతనికి అప్పగించిరి.

9. They went to Hilkiyahu the [cohen] [hagadol] and handed over to him the money that had been brought into the house of God, which the [L'vi'im] who guarded the doors had collected from M'nasheh, Efrayim, the rest of Isra'el and all Y'hudah and Binyamin. Then they returned to Yerushalayim.

10. వారు దానిని యెహోవా మందిరపు పనిమీదనున్న పైవిచారణకర్తల కియ్యగా, దాని బాగుచేయుటకును, యూదా రాజులు పాడుచేసిన యిండ్లకు దూలములను అమర్చుటకును

10. They gave it to the supervisors of the work being done in the house of ADONAI; and those doing the work in the house of ADONAI used it to repair and restore the house-

11. చెక్కిన రాళ్లను జోడింపుపనికి మ్రానులను కొనుటకై యెహోవా మందిరమునందు పనిచేయువారికిని శిల్పకారుల కును దాని నిచ్చిరి.

11. that is, they gave it to the carpenters and construction-workers to purchase worked stone, timber for the crossbeams and roof beams for the houses which the kings of Y'hudah had destroyed.

12. ఆ మనుష్యులు ఆ పనిని నమ్మకముగా చేసిరి. వారి మీది పైవిచారణకర్తలు ఎవరనగా, మెరా రీయులైన లేవీయులగు యహతు ఓబద్యా అనువారును, పని నడిపించుటకు ఏర్పడిన కహాతీయులగు జెకర్యా మెషు ల్లాము అనువారును, లేవీయులలో వాద్యప్రవీణులైన వారు వారితోకూడ ఉండిరి.

12. The men did the work faithfully. Their supervisors were Yachat and 'Ovadyahu, [L'vi'im] from the descendants of M'rari, also Z'kharyah and Meshulam from the descendants of the K'hatim to give direction; and other [L'vi'im], all of whom could accompany singing with musical instruments.

13. మరియు బరువులు మోయు వారిమీదను, ప్రతివిధమైన పని జరిగించువారిమీదను ఆ లేవీయులు పైవిచారణకర్త లుగా నియమింపబడిరి. మరియు లేవీయులలో లేఖకులును పరిచారకులును ద్వారపాలకులు నైనవారు ఆయా పనులమీద నియమింపబడిరి.

13. They supervised those carrying the loads and everyone doing any kind of work; and there were also [L'vi'im] who were secretaries, officials and gatekeepers.

14. యెహోవా మందిరములోనికి తేబడిన ద్రవ్యమును బయటికి తీసికొని వచ్చినప్పుడు, మోషేద్వారా యెహోవా దయచేసిన ధర్మ శాస్త్రముగల గ్రంథము యాజకుడైన హిల్కీయాకు కన బడెను.

14. While bringing out the money that had been brought into the house of ADONAI, Hilkiyahu the [cohen] found the scroll of the [Torah] of ADONAI given by Moshe.

15. అప్పుడు హిల్కీయాయెహోవా మందిరమందు ధర్మశాస్త్రముగల గ్రంథము నాకు దొరికెనని శాస్త్రియగు షాఫానుతో చెప్పి ఆ గ్రంథమును షాఫానుకు అప్ప గించెను.

15. Hilkiyahu said to Shafan the secretary, 'I have found the scroll of the [Torah] in the house of ADONAI.' Hilkiyahu gave the scroll to Shafan.

16. షాఫాను ఆ గ్రంథమును రాజునొద్దకు తీసికొని పోయి రాజుతో ఇట్లనెనునీ సేవకులకు నీవు ఆజ్ఞాపించిన దంతయు వారు చేయుచున్నారు.

16. Shafan the secretary brought the scroll to the king. Turning to the king, he gave him this report: 'Your servants are doing everything you ordered them to do.

17. యెహోవా మందిరము నందు దొరికిన ద్రవ్యమును వారు పోగుచేసి పైవిచారణ కర్తల చేతికిని పనివారి చేతికిని దాని అప్పగించియున్నారు.

17. They have poured out the money found in the house of ADONAI and handed it over to the supervisors and workers.'

18. మరియు యాజకుడైన హిల్కీయా నాకు ఒక గ్రంథము ఇచ్చెనని రాజు ఎదుట మనవిచేసికొని, శాస్త్రియగు షాఫాను రాజు సముఖమున దానినుండి చదివి వినిపించెను.

18. Then Shafan the secretary told the king, 'Hilkiyahu the [cohen hagadol] gave me a scroll.' Shafan read it aloud before the king.

19. అతడు ధర్మశాస్త్రపు మాటలు చదివి వినిపింపగా రాజు విని తన వస్త్రములను చింపుకొని

19. After the king had heard what was written in the [Torah], he tore his clothes.

20. హిల్కీయాకును, షాఫాను కుమారుడైన అహీకాముకును, మీకా కుమారుడైన అబ్దోనుకును, శాస్త్రియగు షాఫానుకును, రాజు సేవకుడైన ఆశాయాకును ఈలాగున ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను

20. Then the king issued this order to Hilkiyahu, Achikam the son of Shafan, 'Avdon the son of Mikhah, Shafan the secretary and 'Asayah the king's servant:

21. మీరు వెళ్లి దొరకిన యీ గ్రంథములోని మాటలవిషయమై నాకొరకును, ఇశ్రాయేలు యూదావారిలో శేషించి యున్నవారికొరకును యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారించుడి. మన పితరులు ఈ గ్రంథమునందు వ్రాయబడియున్న సమస్తమును అనుసరింపకయు, యెహోవా ఆజ్ఞలను గైకొన కయు నుండిరి గనుక యెహోవా కోపము మనమీదికి అత్యధికముగా వచ్చియున్నది.

21. Go, and consult ADONAI for me and for the people left in Isra'el and Y'hudah in regard to what is written in this scroll which has been found. For ADONAI must be furious at us, since our ancestors did not observe the word of ADONAI and do everything written in this scroll.'

22. అప్పుడు హిల్కీయాయును రాజు నియమించినవారును సంగతినిగూర్చి విచారణచేయుటకై హర్హషుకు పుట్టిన తిక్వా కుమారుడును వస్త్రశాలకు పైవిచారణకర్తయునగు షల్లూముయొక్క భార్యయైన హుల్దా అను ప్రవక్త్రియొద్దకు పోయిరి. ఆమె అప్పుడు యెరూషలేమునకు చేరిన యుప భాగములో కాపురముండెను. వారు ఆమెతో సంగతి చెప్పగా

22. So Hilkiyahu and those the king had ordered went to Huldah the prophet, the wife of Shalum the son of Tok'hat, the son of Hasrat, keeper of the wardrobe- she lived in the Second Quarter of Yerushalayim- and spoke with her about this.

23. ఆమె వారితో ఇట్లనెనుఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగా

23. She told them, 'ADONAI the God of Isra'el says to tell the man who sent you to me

24. ఆల కించుడి, నేను ఈ స్థలముమీదికిని దాని కాపురస్థులమీదికిని యూదారాజు సముఖమున చదివి వినిపింపబడిన గ్రంథమునందు వ్రాయబడియున్న శాపములన్నిటిని రప్పిం చెదను.

24. that ADONAI says this: 'I am going to bring calamity on this place and on its inhabitants, all the curses written in the scroll they read to the king of Y'hudah;

25. వారు నన్ను విసర్జించి యితర దేవతలకు ధూపము వేసి, తమ చేతిపనులవలన నాకు కోపము పుట్టించి యున్నారు గనుక నా కోపము ఈ స్థలముమీద మితి లేకుండ కుమ్మరింపబడును. నాయొద్దకు మిమ్మును పంపిన వానికి ఈ వార్త తెలుపుడి.

25. because they have abandoned me and offered to other gods, in order to provoke me with everything they do. Therefore my anger is poured out on this place and will not be quenched.'

26. మరియు యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారించుడని మిమ్మును పంపిన యూదారాజుకు మీరు ఈ మాట తెలియజెప్పుడినీవు ఎవనిమాటలు విని యున్నావో ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన ఆ యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగా

26. 'But you are to tell the king of Y'hudah, who sent you to consult ADONAI, that ADONAI the God of Isra'el also says this: 'In regard to the words you have heard,

27. నీ మనస్సు మెత్తనిదై యీ స్థలముమీదను దాని కాపురస్థులమీదను దేవుడు పలికిన మాటలను నీవు వినినప్పుడు నా సన్నిధిని నిన్ను నీవు తగ్గించుకొని నీ వస్త్రములు చింపుకొని నా సన్నిధిని కన్నీరు విడిచితివి గనుక నీ మనవిని నేను ఆలకించితిని.

27. because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before God when you heard his words against this place and its inhabitants- you humbled yourself before me, tore your clothes and cried before me- I have also heard you,' says ADONAI.

28. నేను నీ పితరులయొద్ద నిన్ను చేర్చుదును;నెమ్మదిగలవాడవై నీవు నీ సమాధిలోనికి చేర్చబడుదువు; ఈ స్థలముమీదికిని దాని కాపురస్థులమీదికిని నేను రప్పించు అపాయము నీవు కన్నులార చూడవు.

28. Here, I will gather you to your ancestors; you will go to your grave in peace; and your eyes will not see all the calamity I am going to bring on this place and its inhabitants.'' So they brought back word to the king.

29. వారు రాజునొద్దకు ఈ వర్తమానము తీసికొనిరాగా రాజు యూదా యెరూషలేములోని పెద్దలనందరిని పిలువ నంపించి

29. Then the king summoned and assembled all the leaders of Y'hudah and Yerushalayim.

30. వారిని సమకూర్చెను. రాజును, యూదా వారందరును, యెరూషలేము కాపురస్థులును, యాజ కులును, లేవీయులును, జనులలో పిన్నపెద్దలందరును యెహోవా మందిరమునకు రాగా యెహోవా మందిర మందు దొరకిన నిబంధన గ్రంథపు మాటలన్నియు వారికి వినిపింపబడెను.

30. The king went up to the house of ADONAI with all the men of Y'hudah, those living in Yerushalayim, the [cohanim], the [L'vi'im] and all the people, both great and small; and he read in their hearing everything written in the scroll of the covenant that had been found in the house of ADONAI.

31. పిమ్మట రాజు తన స్థలమందు నిలువబడి నేను యెహోవాను అనుసరించుచు, ఆయన ఇచ్చిన ఆజ్ఞలను శాసనములను కట్టడలను పూర్ణమనస్సుతోను పూర్ణహృదయముతోను గైకొనుచు, ఈ గ్రంథమందు వ్రాయబడిన నిబంధన మాటల ప్రకారముగా ప్రవర్తించుదునని యెహోవా సన్నిధిని నిబంధన చేసికొనెను.

31. The king stood in his place and made a covenant in the presence of ADONAI to live following ADONAI, observing his [mitzvot], instructions and laws wholeheartedly and with all his being, so as to perform the words of the covenant written in this scroll.

32. మరియు అతడు యెరూషలేమునందున్న వారినందరిని బెన్యామీనీ యులనందిరిని అట్టి నిబంధనకు ఒప్పుకొన జేసెను గనుక యెరూషలేము కాపురస్థులు తమ పితరుల దేవుడైన దేవుని నిబంధన ప్రకారము ప్రవర్తించిరి.

32. Then, after he had all the people in Yerushalayim and Binyamin stand in affirmation of it, the inhabitants of Yerushalayim acted in accordance with the covenant of God, the God of their ancestors.

33. మరియు యోషీయా ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు చెందిన దేశములన్నిటిలోనుండి హేయ మైన విగ్రహములన్నిటిని తీసివేసి, ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరును తమ దేవుడైన యెహోవాను సేవించునట్లు చేసెను. అతని దినములన్నియు వారు తమ పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాను అనుసరించుట మానలేదు.

33. Yoshiyahu removed all the abominable idols from all the territories belonging to the people of Isra'el, and he made everyone in Isra'el serve ADONAI their God. Throughout his lifetime, they did not stop following ADONAI, the God of their ancestors.
