1. యోషీయా యేలనారంభించినప్పుడు ఎనిమిదేండ్ల వాడై యెరూషలేములో ముప్పది యొక సంవత్సరము ఏలెను.

1. Josiah was eight years old when he became king. And he ruled thirty-one years in Jerusalem.

2. అతడు యెహోవా దృష్టికి నీతి ననుసరించుచు, కుడికైనను ఎడమకైనను తొలగకుండ తన పితరుడైన దావీదు చూపిన ప్రవర్తనకు సరిగా ప్రవర్తించెను.

2. He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, and walked in the ways of his father David. He did not turn aside to the right or to the left.

3. తన యేలుబడి యందు ఎనిమిదవ సంవత్సరమున తానింకను బాలుడై యుండగానే అతడు తన పితరుడైన దావీదుయొక్క దేవునియొద్ద విచారించుటకు పూనుకొనినవాడై, పండ్రెండవయేట ఉన్నతస్థలములను దేవతాస్తంభములను పడగొట్టి, చెక్కిన విగ్రహములను పోతవిగ్రహములను తీసివేసి, యూదాదేశమును యెరూషలేమును పవిత్రముచేయ నారంభించెను.

3. For in the eighth year of his rule while he was still young, he began to look for the God of his father David. In the twelfth year he began to take the sinful things out of Judah and Jerusalem. He took away the high places, the objects of the false goddess Asherah, and all the objects made to look like gods.

4. అతడు చూచుచుండగా జనులు బయలు దేవతల బలిపీఠములను పడగొట్టి, వాటిపైన ఉన్న సూర్య దేవతల విగ్రహములను అతని ఆజ్ఞచొప్పున నరికివేసి, దేవతా స్తంభములను చెక్కిన విగ్రహములను పోత విగ్రహములను తుత్తునియలుగా కొట్టి చూర్ణముచేసి, వాటికి బలులు అర్పించినవారి సమాధులమీద చల్లి వేసిరి.

4. They tore down the altars of the false gods of Baal in front of him. And he cut down the special perfume altars which stood above them. He broke in pieces the objects of the false goddess Asherah and all the objects made to look like gods. Then he ground them to dust and spread it on the graves of those who had given gifts in worship to them.

5. బయలుదేవత యాజకుల శల్యములను బలిపీఠములమీద అతడు కాల్పించి, యూదాదేశమును యెరూషలేమును పవిత్రపరచెను.

5. He burned the bones of their religious leaders on their altars, and made Judah and Jerusalem free from worshiping false gods.

6. ఆ ప్రకారము అతడు మనష్షే ఎఫ్రాయిము షిమ్యోను దేశములవారి పట్టణములలోను, నఫ్తాలి మన్యమునందును, చుట్టుపట్లనున్న పాడుస్థలములన్నిటను బలిపీఠములను పడ గొట్టెను.

6. And in the cities of Manasseh, Ephraim, Simeon, and as far as Naphtali, in the broken down places around them,

7. బలిపీఠములను దేవతా స్తంభములను పడగొట్టి చెక్కిన విగ్రహములను చూర్ణముచేసి, ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేశమంతటనున్న సూర్యదేవతా విగ్రహములన్నిటిని నరికి వేసి అతడు యెరూషలేమునకు తిరిగి వచ్చెను.

7. Josiah tore down the altars and beat to dust the objects of Asherah and the objects made to look like gods. He cut down all the special perfume altars through all the land of Israel. Then he returned to Jerusalem.

8. అతని యేలుబడియందు పదునెనిమిదవ సంవత్సరమున, దేశమును మందిరమును పవిత్రపరచుటయైన తరువాత, అతడు అజల్యా కుమారుడైన షాఫానును, పట్టాణాధిపతి యైన మయశేయాను, రాజ్యపు దస్తావేజులమీదనున్న యోహాహాజు కుమారుడగు యోవాహాజును, తన దేవుడైన యెహోవా మందిరమును బాగుచేయుటకై పంపెను.

8. Now it was the eighteenth year of his rule, and Josiah had made the land and the Lord's house free from worshiping false gods. At that time he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, Maaseiah the leader of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz, who wrote down the things that happened, to do the work needed on the house of the Lord his God.

9. వారు ప్రధానయాజకుడైన హిల్కీయాయొద్దకు వచ్చి, ద్వారపాలకులైన లేవీయులు మనష్షే ఎఫ్రాయిమీయుల దేశములయందు ఇశ్రాయేలువారిలో శేషించియున్న వారందరియొద్దనుండియు, యూదా బెన్యామీనీయులందరి యొద్ద నుండియు కూర్చి, దేవుని మందిరములోనికి తీసికొని వచ్చిన ద్రవ్యమును అతనికి అప్పగించిరి.

9. They came to Hilkiah the head religious leader and gave him the money that was brought into the house of God. The Levites who watched the door had received this money from Manasseh and Ephraim and from all those who were left of Israel, and from all Judah and Benjamin and the people of Jerusalem.

10. వారు దానిని యెహోవా మందిరపు పనిమీదనున్న పైవిచారణకర్తల కియ్యగా, దాని బాగుచేయుటకును, యూదా రాజులు పాడుచేసిన యిండ్లకు దూలములను అమర్చుటకును

10. Then they gave the money to the workmen who watched over the work of the Lord's house. And the workmen who were working in the Lord's house used it to make the house like new.

11. చెక్కిన రాళ్లను జోడింపుపనికి మ్రానులను కొనుటకై యెహోవా మందిరమునందు పనిచేయువారికిని శిల్పకారుల కును దాని నిచ్చిరి.

11. They gave the money to those who work with wood and to the builders to buy cut stone and wood for joints and building-pieces for the houses. The kings of Judah had not had the needed work done on them.

12. ఆ మనుష్యులు ఆ పనిని నమ్మకముగా చేసిరి. వారి మీది పైవిచారణకర్తలు ఎవరనగా, మెరా రీయులైన లేవీయులగు యహతు ఓబద్యా అనువారును, పని నడిపించుటకు ఏర్పడిన కహాతీయులగు జెకర్యా మెషు ల్లాము అనువారును, లేవీయులలో వాద్యప్రవీణులైన వారు వారితోకూడ ఉండిరి.

12. And the men were faithful in doing the work. Watching over them were Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites of the sons of Merari, and Zechariah and Meshullam of the sons of the Kohathites. The Levites who were good at playing music

13. మరియు బరువులు మోయు వారిమీదను, ప్రతివిధమైన పని జరిగించువారిమీదను ఆ లేవీయులు పైవిచారణకర్త లుగా నియమింపబడిరి. మరియు లేవీయులలో లేఖకులును పరిచారకులును ద్వారపాలకులు నైనవారు ఆయా పనులమీద నియమింపబడిరి.

13. watched over those who carried loads and those who did work in every kind of duty. Some of the Levites were writers and leaders and gate-keepers.

14. యెహోవా మందిరములోనికి తేబడిన ద్రవ్యమును బయటికి తీసికొని వచ్చినప్పుడు, మోషేద్వారా యెహోవా దయచేసిన ధర్మ శాస్త్రముగల గ్రంథము యాజకుడైన హిల్కీయాకు కన బడెను.

14. When they were bringing out the money which had been brought into the Lord's house, Hilkiah the religious leader found the book of the Law of the Lord given by Moses.

15. అప్పుడు హిల్కీయాయెహోవా మందిరమందు ధర్మశాస్త్రముగల గ్రంథము నాకు దొరికెనని శాస్త్రియగు షాఫానుతో చెప్పి ఆ గ్రంథమును షాఫానుకు అప్ప గించెను.

15. Hilkiah told Shaphan the writer, 'I have found the book of the Law in the Lord's house.' And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan.

16. షాఫాను ఆ గ్రంథమును రాజునొద్దకు తీసికొని పోయి రాజుతో ఇట్లనెనునీ సేవకులకు నీవు ఆజ్ఞాపించిన దంతయు వారు చేయుచున్నారు.

16. Then Shaphan brought the book to the king, and said to him, 'Your servants are doing all the work that they have been given to do.

17. యెహోవా మందిరము నందు దొరికిన ద్రవ్యమును వారు పోగుచేసి పైవిచారణ కర్తల చేతికిని పనివారి చేతికిని దాని అప్పగించియున్నారు.

17. They have taken all the money that was found in the Lord's house and have given it to the leaders and the workmen.'

18. మరియు యాజకుడైన హిల్కీయా నాకు ఒక గ్రంథము ఇచ్చెనని రాజు ఎదుట మనవిచేసికొని, శాస్త్రియగు షాఫాను రాజు సముఖమున దానినుండి చదివి వినిపించెను.

18. Then Shaphan the writer said to the king, 'Hilkiah the religious leader gave me a book.' And Shaphan read it in front of the king.

19. అతడు ధర్మశాస్త్రపు మాటలు చదివి వినిపింపగా రాజు విని తన వస్త్రములను చింపుకొని

19. When King Josiah heard the words of the Law, he tore his clothes.

20. హిల్కీయాకును, షాఫాను కుమారుడైన అహీకాముకును, మీకా కుమారుడైన అబ్దోనుకును, శాస్త్రియగు షాఫానుకును, రాజు సేవకుడైన ఆశాయాకును ఈలాగున ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను

20. Then the king called Hilkiah, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Abdon the son of Micah, Shaphan the writer, and Asaiah the king's servant. He told them,

21. మీరు వెళ్లి దొరకిన యీ గ్రంథములోని మాటలవిషయమై నాకొరకును, ఇశ్రాయేలు యూదావారిలో శేషించి యున్నవారికొరకును యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారించుడి. మన పితరులు ఈ గ్రంథమునందు వ్రాయబడియున్న సమస్తమును అనుసరింపకయు, యెహోవా ఆజ్ఞలను గైకొన కయు నుండిరి గనుక యెహోవా కోపము మనమీదికి అత్యధికముగా వచ్చియున్నది.

21. Go, ask the Lord for me, and for those who are left in Israel and Judah, about the words of the book which have been found. For much of the Lord's anger has been poured out on us because our fathers have not obeyed the Word of the Lord. They have not done all that is written in this book.'

22. అప్పుడు హిల్కీయాయును రాజు నియమించినవారును సంగతినిగూర్చి విచారణచేయుటకై హర్హషుకు పుట్టిన తిక్వా కుమారుడును వస్త్రశాలకు పైవిచారణకర్తయునగు షల్లూముయొక్క భార్యయైన హుల్దా అను ప్రవక్త్రియొద్దకు పోయిరి. ఆమె అప్పుడు యెరూషలేమునకు చేరిన యుప భాగములో కాపురముండెను. వారు ఆమెతో సంగతి చెప్పగా

22. So Hilkiah and those whom the king had sent went to Huldah the woman who spoke for God. She was the wife of Shallum the son of Tokhath, the son of Hasrah, who watched over the clothing. (She lived in Jerusalem in the second part of the city.) They spoke to her about this.

23. ఆమె వారితో ఇట్లనెనుఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగా

23. And she said to them, 'The Lord, the God of Israel, says, 'Tell the man who sent you to Me

24. ఆల కించుడి, నేను ఈ స్థలముమీదికిని దాని కాపురస్థులమీదికిని యూదారాజు సముఖమున చదివి వినిపింపబడిన గ్రంథమునందు వ్రాయబడియున్న శాపములన్నిటిని రప్పిం చెదను.

24. what I say. See, I am bringing much trouble to this place and to its people. I am allowing all the curses to come which are written in the book they have read in front of the king of Judah.

25. వారు నన్ను విసర్జించి యితర దేవతలకు ధూపము వేసి, తమ చేతిపనులవలన నాకు కోపము పుట్టించి యున్నారు గనుక నా కోపము ఈ స్థలముమీద మితి లేకుండ కుమ్మరింపబడును. నాయొద్దకు మిమ్మును పంపిన వానికి ఈ వార్త తెలుపుడి.

25. They have left Me and have burned special perfume to other gods, that they might make Me angry with all the work of their hands. So My anger will be poured out on this place, and it will not be stopped.

26. మరియు యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారించుడని మిమ్మును పంపిన యూదారాజుకు మీరు ఈ మాట తెలియజెప్పుడినీవు ఎవనిమాటలు విని యున్నావో ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన ఆ యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగా

26. But tell the king of Judah who sent you to the Lord, 'This is what the Lord God of Israel says about the words which you have heard:

27. నీ మనస్సు మెత్తనిదై యీ స్థలముమీదను దాని కాపురస్థులమీదను దేవుడు పలికిన మాటలను నీవు వినినప్పుడు నా సన్నిధిని నిన్ను నీవు తగ్గించుకొని నీ వస్త్రములు చింపుకొని నా సన్నిధిని కన్నీరు విడిచితివి గనుక నీ మనవిని నేను ఆలకించితిని.

27. 'Your heart was broken and you had no pride before God when you heard His words against this place and its people. And because you came before Me with no pride, tore your clothes, and cried before Me, I have heard you,' says the Lord.

28. నేను నీ పితరులయొద్ద నిన్ను చేర్చుదును;నెమ్మదిగలవాడవై నీవు నీ సమాధిలోనికి చేర్చబడుదువు; ఈ స్థలముమీదికిని దాని కాపురస్థులమీదికిని నేను రప్పించు అపాయము నీవు కన్నులార చూడవు.

28. Your eyes will not see all the much trouble that I will bring on this place and its people. It will come after you die. You will be taken to your grave in peace.' ' ' ' The men brought back this word to the king.

29. వారు రాజునొద్దకు ఈ వర్తమానము తీసికొనిరాగా రాజు యూదా యెరూషలేములోని పెద్దలనందరిని పిలువ నంపించి

29. Then the king sent and gathered together all the leaders of Judah and Jerusalem.

30. వారిని సమకూర్చెను. రాజును, యూదా వారందరును, యెరూషలేము కాపురస్థులును, యాజ కులును, లేవీయులును, జనులలో పిన్నపెద్దలందరును యెహోవా మందిరమునకు రాగా యెహోవా మందిర మందు దొరకిన నిబంధన గ్రంథపు మాటలన్నియు వారికి వినిపింపబడెను.

30. The king went up to the house of the Lord, with all the men of Judah, the people of Jerusalem, the religious leaders, the Levites, and all the people from the greatest to the least. And he read in their hearing all the words of the book of the agreement which was found in the Lord's house.

31. పిమ్మట రాజు తన స్థలమందు నిలువబడి నేను యెహోవాను అనుసరించుచు, ఆయన ఇచ్చిన ఆజ్ఞలను శాసనములను కట్టడలను పూర్ణమనస్సుతోను పూర్ణహృదయముతోను గైకొనుచు, ఈ గ్రంథమందు వ్రాయబడిన నిబంధన మాటల ప్రకారముగా ప్రవర్తించుదునని యెహోవా సన్నిధిని నిబంధన చేసికొనెను.

31. Then the king stood in his place and made an agreement before the Lord. He agreed to follow the Lord, to obey His Laws with all his heart and soul, and to do what is written in the agreement in this book.

32. మరియు అతడు యెరూషలేమునందున్న వారినందరిని బెన్యామీనీ యులనందిరిని అట్టి నిబంధనకు ఒప్పుకొన జేసెను గనుక యెరూషలేము కాపురస్థులు తమ పితరుల దేవుడైన దేవుని నిబంధన ప్రకారము ప్రవర్తించిరి.

32. And he made all who were there in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand with him. So the people of Jerusalem promised to obey the agreement of God, the God of their fathers.

33. మరియు యోషీయా ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు చెందిన దేశములన్నిటిలోనుండి హేయ మైన విగ్రహములన్నిటిని తీసివేసి, ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరును తమ దేవుడైన యెహోవాను సేవించునట్లు చేసెను. అతని దినములన్నియు వారు తమ పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాను అనుసరించుట మానలేదు.

33. Josiah took away all the hated false gods from all the lands belonging to the sons of Israel. He made all who were in Israel worship the Lord their God. While Josiah was alive, they did not turn from following the Lord God of their fathers.
