1. అరబీయులతో కూడ దండు విడియుచోటికివచ్చిన వారు పెద్దవారినందరిని చంపిరి గనుక యెరూషలేము కాపురస్థులు అతని కడగొట్టు కుమారుడైన అహజ్యాను అతనికి బదులుగా రాజునుచేసిరి. ఈ ప్రకారము యూదారాజగు యెహోరాము కుమారుడైన అహజ్యా రాజ్యము బొందెను.

1. Then the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, his youngest son, king in his stead, since all the older sons had been slain by the band that had come into the fort with the Arabs. Thus Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, reigned as the king of Judah.

2. అహజ్యా యేలనారంభించినప్పుడు నలువది రెండేండ్లవాడై యెరూషలేములో ఒక సంవత్సరము ఏలెను; అతని తల్లి ఒమీ కుమార్తె, ఆమె పేరు అతల్యా

2. He was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother was named Athaliah, daughter of Omri.

3. దుర్మార్గముగా ప్రవర్తించుటకు అతని తల్లి అతనికి నేర్పుచు వచ్చెను గనుక అతడును అహాబు సంతతివారి మార్గములందు నడచెను.

3. He, too, followed the ways of the house of Ahab, because his mother counseled him to act sinfully.

4. అహాబు సంతతివారివలెనే అతడు యెహోవా దృష్టికి చెడునడత నడచెను; అతని తండ్రి మరణమైన తరువాత వారు అతనికి ఆలోచనకర్తలై అతని నాశమునకు కారుకులైరి.

4. To his own destruction, he did evil in the sight of the LORD, as did the house of Ahab, since they were his counselors after the death of his father.

5. వారి ఆలోచన చొప్పున అతడు ప్రవర్తించి, రామోత్గిలాదులో సిరియారాజైన హజాయేలుతో యుద్ధము చేయుటకై అహాబు కుమారుడైన ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజగు యెహోరాముతోకూడ పోయెను; సిరియనులచేత యెహోరామునకు గాయములు తగిలెను.

5. He was also following their counsel when he accompanied Jehoram, son of Ahab, king of Israel, to battle against Hazael, king of Aram, at Ramoth-gilead. There Jehoram was wounded by the Arameans.

6. సిరియారాజైన హజాయేలుతో తాను రామాలో చేసిన యుద్ధమునందు తనకు తగిలిన గాయములను బాగుచేసి కొనుటకై అతడు యెజ్రెయేలునకు మరల వచ్చెను. అహాబు కుమారుడైన యెహోరాము రోగియైయున్నాడని విని యూదా రాజైన యెహోరాము కుమారుడగు అహజ్యా అతని దర్శించుటకై యెజ్రెయేలునకు పోయెను.

6. He returned to Jezreel to be healed of the wounds he had received at Rama in his battle against Hazael, king of Aram. Because of this illness, Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to visit Jehoram, son of Ahab, in Jezreel.

7. యెహోరాము నొద్దకు అతడు వచ్చుటచేత దేవునివలన అతనికి నాశము కలిగెను; ఎట్లనగా అతడు వచ్చినప్పుడు అహాబు సంతతివారిని నిర్మూలము చేయుటకై యెహోవా అభిషేకించిన నింషీకుమారుడైన యెహూమీదికి అతడు యెహోరాముతోకూడ పోగా

7. Now it was willed by God for Ahaziah's downfall that he should join Jehoram, for after his arrival he rode out with Jehoram to Jehu, son of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed to cut down the house of Ahab.

8. యెహూ అహాబు సంతతి వారిమీద తీర్పు తీర్చుటకై వచ్చినప్పుడు అతడు యూదావారి అధిపతులను, అహజ్యాకు పరిచారకులుగా నున్న అహజ్యా సహోదరుల కుమారులను చూచి వారిని హతముచేసెను.

8. While Jehu was executing judgment on the house of Ahab, he also encountered the princes of Judah and the nephews of Ahaziah who were his attendants, and he slew them.

9. అతడు అహజ్యాను వెదకెను. అతడు షోమ్రోనులో దాగియుండగా వారు అతని పట్టుకొని యెహూనొద్దకు తీసికొనివచ్చిరి; వారు అతని చంపిన తరువాత ఇతడు యెహోవాను హృదయపూర్వకముగా వెదకిన యెహోషాపాతు కుమారుడు గదా అనుకొని అతని పాతిపెట్టిరి; కాగా రాజ్యమేలుటకు అహజ్యా యింటి వారు ఇక నెవరును లేకపోయిరి.

9. Then he looked for Ahaziah himself. They caught him where he was hiding in Samaria and brought him to Jehu, who put him to death. They buried him, for they said, 'He was the grandson of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with his whole heart.' There remained in Ahaziah's house no one powerful enough to wield the kingship.

10. అహజ్యా తల్లియైన అతల్యా తన కుమారుడు చనిపోయె నని వినినప్పుడు ఆమె లేచి యూదావారి సంబంధులగు రాజవంశజులనందరిని హతము చేసెను.

10. When Athaliah, mother of Ahaziah, learned that her son was dead, she proceeded to kill off all the royal offspring of the house of Judah.

11. అయితే రాజునకు కుమార్తెయైన యెహోషబతు అహజ్యా కుమారుడైన యోవాషును హతులైన రాజకుమారులలోనుండి దొంగిలించి, అతనిని అతని దాదిని ఒక పడకటింటిలో ఉంచెను. యెహోరాము రాజు కుమార్తెయును యెహోయాదా అను యాజకుని భార్యయునైన యెహోషబతు అతల్యాకు కనబడకుండ అతని దాచిపెట్టెను గనుక ఆమె అతని చంపలేకపోయెను; ఈ యెహోషబతు అహజ్యాకు సహోదరి.

11. But Jehosheba, a royal princess, secretly took Ahaziah's son Joash from among the king's sons who were about to be slain, and put him and his nurse in a bedroom. In this way Jehosheba, who was the daughter of King Jehoram, a sister of Ahaziah, and wife of Jehoiada the priest, hid the child from Athaliah's sight, so that she did not put him to death.

12. ఆరు సంవత్సరములు అతడు వారితోకూడ దేవుని మందిర ములో దాచబడియుండెను; ఆ కాలమున అతల్యా దేశమును పాలించెను.

12. For six years he remained hidden with them in the house of God, while Athaliah ruled over the land.
