1. యెహోషాపాతు తన పితరులతోకూడ నిద్రించితన పితరులచెంతను దావీదు పురమందు పాతిపెట్ట బడెను, అతని కుమారుడైన యెహోరాము అతనికి బదులుగా రాజాయెను.

1. And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried in the City of David; and Jehoram his son reigned in his place.

2. యెహోషాపాతు కుమారులైన అజర్యా యెహీయేలు జెకర్యా అజర్యా మిఖాయేలు షెఫట్య అను వారు ఇతనికి సహోదరులు; వీరందరును ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజైన యెహోషాపాతు కుమారులు.

2. And he had brothers, the six sons of Jehoshaphat: Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azaryahu, Michael, and Shephatiah; all these [were] the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Judah.

3. వారి తండ్రి వెండి బంగారములను బహుమానములుగా ప్రశస్తవస్తువులనేక ములను యూదా దేశములో ప్రాకారముగల పట్టణములను వారికిచ్చెను; అయితే యెహోరాము జ్యేష్ఠుడు గనుక అతనికి రాజ్యమును ఇచ్చెను.

3. And their father gave them many gifts, silver and gold and arms, together with fortified cities in Judah; but he gave the kingdom to Jehoram, for he [was] the firstborn.

4. యెహోరాము తన తండ్రి రాజ్యమును ఏలనారంభించినప్పుడు తన్ను స్థిరపరచుకొని, తన సహోదరులనందరిని ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల అధిపతులలో కొందరిని హతముచేసెను.

4. And Jehoram entered upon his kingdom, and strengthened himself, and killed all his brothers with the sword, and also [others] of the princes of Israel.

5. యెహోరాము ఏలనారంభించి నప్పుడు ముప్పది రెండేండ్లవాడు. అతడు యెరూష లేములో ఎనిమిది సంవత్సరములు ఏలెను.

5. Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he succeeded to his kingdom, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

6. అతడు అహాబు కుమార్తెను పెండ్లిచేసికొని అహాబు సంతతి వారు నడచిన ప్రకారముగా ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజుల మార్గమందు నడచెను; అతడు యెహోవా దృష్టికి ప్రతికూలముగా ప్రవర్తించెను.

6. And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab; for a daughter of Ahab was his wife; and he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord.

7. అయినను యెహోవా తాను దావీదుతో చేసిన నిబంధన నిమిత్తమును, అతనికిని అతని కుమారులకును నిత్యము దీప మిచ్చెదనని చేసిన వాగ్దానము నిమిత్తమును దావీదు సంతతిని నశింపజేయుటకు మనస్సులేక యుండెను.

7. Nevertheless the Lord would not utterly destroy the house of David, because of the covenant which He made with David, and as He said to him that He would give a light to him and his sons forever.

8. అతని దినములలో ఎదోమీయులు తిరుగబడి యూదావారి అధి కారము త్రోసివేసి తమకు ఒకరాజును చేసికొనగా

8. In those days Edom revolted from Judah, and they made a king over themselves.

9. యెహోరాము తన చేతిక్రిందనున్న అధి కారులను వెంట బెట్టుకొని, తన రథములన్నిటితో బయలుదేరి రాత్రివేళ లేచి తన్ను చుట్టుకొనిన ఎదోమీయులను రథాధిపతులను హతముచేసెను.

9. And Jehoram went with the princes, and all the cavalry with him. And it came to pass that he arose by night, and attacked Edom that compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots, and the people fled to their tents.

10. కాగా నేటివరకును జరుగుచున్నట్టు ఎదోమీయులు యూదావారి చేతిక్రింద నుండక తిరుగ బడిరి. యెహోరాము తన పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాను విసర్జించినందున ఆ కాలమందు లిబ్నాయును అతని చేతిక్రిందనుండి తిరుగబడెను.

10. And Edom revolted from Judah until this day. Then Libnah at that time revolted from [under] his hand, because he forsook the Lord God of his fathers.

11. మరియు అతడు యూదా పర్వతములయందు బలిపీఠములను కట్టించి యెరూషలేము కాపురస్థులు దేవుని విసర్జించునట్లు చేసెను. యూదావారిని విగ్రహపూజకు లోపరచెను.

11. For he built high places in the cities of Judah, and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit harlotry, and led Judah astray.

12. అంతట ప్రవక్తయైన ఏలీయా యొక పత్రిక వ్రాసి అతనియొద్దకు పంపెనునీ పితరుడగు దావీదునకు దేవుడైన యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగానీవు నీ తండ్రియైన యెహోషాపాతు మార్గములందైనను యూదారాజైన ఆసా మార్గములందైనను నడువక

12. And there came to him [a message] in writing from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus says the Lord God of your father David: Because you have not walked in the way of your father Jehoshaphat, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

13. ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజుల మార్గమందు నడచి అహాబు సంతతివారు చేసిన వ్యభిచారముల చొప్పున యూదాను యెరూషలేము కాపురస్థులను వ్యభిచరింపజేసి, నీకంటె యోగ్యులైన నీ తండ్రి సంతతి వారగు నీ సహోదరులను నీవు చంపియున్నావు.

13. but have walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and have caused Judah and its inhabitants in Jerusalem to play the harlot, as the house of Ahab caused [Israel] to play the harlot, and you have slain your brethren, the sons of your father, who were better than yourself.

14. కాబట్టి గొప్ప తెగులుచేత యెహోవా నీ జనులను నీ పిల్లలను నీ భార్యలను నీ వస్తువాహనములన్నిటిని మొత్తును.

14. Behold, the Lord shall strike you with a great plague among your people, and your sons, and your wives, and all your possessions;

15. నీవు ఉదరమున వ్యాధి కలిగి మిక్కిలి రోగివై యుందువు; దిన క్రమేణ ఆ వ్యాధిచేత నీ పేగులు పడిపోవును.

15. and you [shall be afflicted] with a grievous disease, with a disease of the bowels, until your bowels shall fall out day by day with the sickness.

16. మరియు యెహోవా యెహోరాముమీదికి ఫిలిష్తీయులను కూషీయుల చేరువనున్న అరబీయులను రేపగా

16. So the Lord stirred up the Philistines against Jehoram, and the Arabians, and those who bordered on the Ethiopians;

17. వారు యూదా దేశముమీదికి వచ్చి దానిలో చొరబడి రాజ నగరునందు దొరకిన సమస్త పదార్థములను అతని కుమారులను భార్యలను పట్టుకొనిపోయిరి; అతని కుమారులలో కనిష్ఠుడైన యెహోయాహాజు తప్ప అతనికి ఒక్క కుమారుడైనను విడువబడలేదు.

17. and they went up against Judah, and prevailed against them, and took away all the possessions which they found in the house of the king, and his sons, and his daughters; and there was no son left to him except Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.

18. ఇదియంతయు అయినతరువాత యెహోవా కుదరచాలని వ్యాధిచేత అతనిని ఉదరమున మొత్తినందున

18. And after all these things the Lord struck him in the bowels with an incurable disease.

19. రెండు సంవత్సరములు వ్యాధి బలమగుచు వచ్చి ఆ వ్యాధిచేత అతని పేగులు పడిపోయి బహు వేదన నొందుచు అతడు మరణమాయెను. అతని జనులు అతని పితరులకు చేసిన ఉత్తరక్రియలు అతనికి చేయలేదు.

19. And it continued from day to day. And after two years had passed by, his bowels fell out with the disease, and he died by a grievous distemper. And his people performed no funeral, like the funeral of his fathers.

20. అతడు ఏలనారంభించినప్పుడు ముప్పది రెండేండ్లవాడు; యెరూషలేములో ఎనిమిది సంవత్సరములు ఏలి యెవరికిని ఇష్టము లేనివాడై అతడు చనిపోయెను; రాజుల సమాధులలో గాక దావీదు పురమందు వేరుచోట జనులు అతని పాతిపెట్టిరి.

20. He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. And he departed without honor, and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.
