1. Later, the Moabites, the Ammonites, and some Meunites came to start a war with Jehoshaphat.

2. Some men came and told Jehoshaphat, 'There is a large army coming against you from Edom. They are coming from the other side of the Dead Sea. They are already in Hazazon Tamar!' (Hazazon Tamar is also called En Gedi.)

3. అందుకు యెహోషాపాతు భయపడి యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారించుటకు మనస్సు నిలుపు కొని, యూదాయంతట ఉపవాసదినము ఆచరింపవలెనని చాటింపగా

3. Jehoshaphat became afraid, and he decided to ask the Lord what to do. He announced a time of fasting for everyone in Judah.

4. యూదావారు యెహోవావలని సహాయ మును వేడుకొనుటకై కూడుకొనిరి, యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారించుటకు యూదా పట్టణములన్నిటిలోనుండి జనులు వచ్చిరి.

4. The people of Judah came together to ask the Lord for help. They came from out of all the towns of Judah to ask for the Lord's help.

5. యెహోషాపాతు యెహోవా మందిరములో క్రొత్త శాలయెదుట సమాజముగా కూడిన యూదా యెరూషలేముల జనులమధ్యను నిలువబడి

5. Jehoshaphat was in the new courtyard of the Lord's Temple. He stood up in the meeting of the people from Judah and Jerusalem

6. మా పితరుల దేవా యెహోవా, నీవు ఆకాశమందు దేవుడవై యున్నావు, అన్యజనుల రాజ్యములను ఏలువాడవు నీవే; నీవు బాహుబలము గలవాడవు, పరాక్రమము గలవాడవు, నిన్నెదిరించుట కెవరికిని బలము చాలదు.

6. and said, 'Lord God of our ancestors, you are the God in heaven. You rule over all the kingdoms in all the nations. You have power and strength. No one can stand against you.

7. నీ జనులైన ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల యెదుటనుండి ఈ దేశపు కాపురస్థులను తోలివేసి, నీ స్నేహితుడైన అబ్రాహాముయొక్క సంతతికి దీనిని శాశ్వతముగా నిచ్చిన మా దేవుడవు నీవే.

7. You are our God! You forced the people living in this land to leave. You did this in front of your people Israel. You gave this land to the descendants of Abraham forever. Abraham was your friend.

8. His descendants lived in this land, and built a Temple for your name.

9. నీవు ఆలకించి మమ్మును రక్షిం చుదువని అనుకొని, యిచ్చట నీ నామఘనతకొరకు ఈ పరిశుద్ధ స్థలమును కట్టించిరి. నీ పేరు ఈ మందిరమునకు పెట్టబడెను గదా.

9. They said, 'If trouble comes to us�the sword, punishment, sicknesses, or famine�we will stand in front of this Temple and in front of you. Your name is on this Temple. We will shout to you when we are in trouble. Then you will hear and save us.'

10. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు ఐగుప్తులోనుండి వచ్చినప్పుడు నీవు వారిని అమ్మోనీయులతోను మోయా బీయులతోను శేయీరు మన్యవాసులతోను యుద్ధము చేయనియ్యలేదు గనుక ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు వారిని నిర్మూలము చేయక వారియొద్దనుండి తొలగి పోయిరి.

10. But now, here are men from Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir. You would not let the Israelites enter their lands when they came out of Egypt. So the Israelites turned away and didn't destroy them.

11. మేము స్వతంత్రించుకొనవలెనని నీవు మా కిచ్చిన నీ స్వాస్థ్య ములోనుండి మమ్మును తోలివేయుటకై వారు బయలుదేరి వచ్చి మాకెట్టి ప్రత్యుపకారము చేయుచున్నారో దృష్టిం చుము.

11. But see the kind of reward those people give us for not destroying them. They have come to force us out of your land that you gave to us.

12. మా దేవా, నీవు వారికి తీర్పుతీర్చవా? మా మీదికి వచ్చు ఈ గొప్ప సైన్యముతో యుద్ధము చేయుటకును మాకు శక్తి చాలదు; ఏమి చేయుటకును మాకు తోచదు; నీవే మాకు దిక్కు అని ప్రార్థన చేసెను.

12. Our God, punish those people. We don't have the strength to stop this large army that is coming against us. We don't know what to do! We are looking to you for help.'

13. యూదావారందరును తమ శిశువులతోను భార్యలతోను పిల్లలతోను యెహోవా సన్నిధిని నిలువబడిరి.

13. All the men of Judah stood before the Lord with their wives, babies, and children.

14. అప్పుడు మత్తన్యాకు పుట్టిన యెహీయేలు కుమారుడైన బెనాయాకు జననమైన జెకర్యా కుమారుడును ఆసాపు సంతతివాడును లేవీయుడునగు యహజీయేలు సమాజములో ఉండెను. యెహోవా ఆత్మ అతనిమీదికి రాగా అతడీలాగు ప్రకటించెను

14. Then the Spirit of the Lord came on Jahaziel son of Zechariah. (Zechariah was the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah.) Jahaziel was a Levite from the family of Asaph. In the middle of the meeting,

15. యూదావారలారా, యెరూషలేము కాపు రస్థులారా, యెహోషాపాతు రాజా, మీరందరును ఆలకించుడి; యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగా ఈ గొప్ప సైన్యమునకు మీరు భయపడకుడి, జడియకుడి, యీ యుద్ధము మీరు కాదు దేవుడే జరిగించును.

15. Jahaziel said, 'Listen to me King Jehoshaphat and everyone living in Judah and Jerusalem! The Lord says this to you: 'Don't be afraid or worry about this large army, because the battle is not your battle. It is God's battle!

16. రేపు వారిమీదికి పోవుడి; వారు జీజు అను ఎక్కుడుమార్గమున వచ్చెదరు, మీరు యెరూవేలు అరణ్యము ముందరనున్న వాగుకొనదగ్గర వారిని కనుగొందురు.

16. Tomorrow, they will come up through the Ziz Pass. You must go down to them. You will find them at the end of the valley on the other side of Jeruel Desert.

17. ఈ యుద్ధములో మీరు పోట్లాడవలసిన నిమిత్తము లేదు; యూదావారలారా, యెరూషలేమువారలారా, మీరు యుద్ధపంక్తులు తీర్చినిలువబడుడి; మీతో కూడనున్న యెహోవా దయచేయు రక్షణను మీరు చూచెదరు; భయపడకుడి జడియకుడి, రేపు వారిమీదికి పోవుడి, యెహోవా మీతో కూడ ఉండును.

17. You will not have to fight this battle. Just stand there and watch the Lord save you. Judah and Jerusalem, don't be afraid. Don't worry, the Lord is with you. So go out to stand against those people tomorrow.''

18. అప్పుడు యెహోషాపాతు సాష్టాంగ నమ స్కారము చేసెను; యూదావారును యెరూషలేము కాపు రస్థులును యెహోవా సన్నిధిని సాగిలపడి నమస్కరించిరి.

18. Jehoshaphat bowed with his face to the ground. And all the people of Judah and Jerusalem bowed down before the Lord and worshiped him.

19. కహాతీయుల సంతతివారును కోరహీయుల సంతతి వారునగు లేవీయులు నిలువబడి గొప్ప శబ్దముతో ఇశ్రా యేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాను స్తుతించిరి.

19. The Levites from the Kohath family groups and the Korah family stood up to praise the Lord, the God of Israel. They sang very loudly.

20. అంతట వారు ఉదయముననే లేచి తెకోవ అరణ్యమునకు పోయిరి; వారు పోవుచుండగా యెహోషాపాతు నిలువబడియూదావారలారా, యెరూషలేము కాపురస్థులారా, నా మాట వినుడి; మీ దేవుడైన యెహో వాను నమ్ముకొనుడి, అప్పుడు మీరు స్థిరపరచబడుదురు; ఆయన ప్రవక్తలను నమ్ముకొనుడి, అప్పుడు మీరు కృతార్థులగుదురనిచెప్పెను.

20. Early the next morning, Jehoshaphat's army went out into Tekoa Desert. As they marched out, Jehoshaphat stood there saying, 'Listen to me, men of Judah and Jerusalem. Have faith in the Lord your God, and you will stand strong! Have faith in the Lord's prophets, and you will succeed!'

21. Jehoshaphat encouraged the men and gave them instructions. Then he had the temple singers stand up in their special clothes to praise the Lord. They marched in front of the army and sang praises. They sang the song, Praise the Lord Because His Faithful Love Will Last Forever!

22. వారు పాడుటకును స్తుతించుటకును మొదలు పెట్టగా యెహోవా యూదావారిమీదికి వచ్చిన అమ్మోనీయులమీదను మోయాబీయుల మీదను శేయీరు మన్యవాసులమీదను మాటుగాండ్రను పెట్టెను గనుక వారు హతులైరి.

22. As they began to sing and to praise God, the Lord set an ambush for the army from Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir who had come to attack Judah. The enemy was defeated!

23. అమ్మోనీయులును మోయాబీయులును శేయీరు మన్యనివాసులను బొత్తిగా చంపి నిర్మూలము చేయవలెనని పొంచియుండి వారిమీద పడిరి; వారు శేయీరు కాపురస్థులను కడముట్టించిన తరువాత తమలో ఒకరి నొకరు చంపుకొనుటకు మొదలుపెట్టిరి.

23. The Ammonites and the Moabites started to fight the men from Mount Seir. After they killed them, the Ammonites and Moabites turned on themselves and killed each other.

24. యూదా వారు అరణ్యమందున్న కాపరుల దుర్గము దగ్గరకు వచ్చి సైన్యముతట్టు చూడగా వారు శవములై నేలపడియుండిరి, ఒకడును తప్పించుకొనలేదు.

24. The men from Judah arrived at the lookout point in the desert. They looked for the enemy's large army, but all they saw were dead bodies lying on the ground. There were no survivors.

25. యెహోషాపాతును అతని జనులును వారి వస్తువులను దోచుకొనుటకు దగ్గరకు రాగా ఆ శవములయొద్ద విస్తారమైన ధనమును ప్రశస్తమైన నగలును కనబడెను; వారు తమకిష్టమైనంతమట్టుకు తీసికొని తాము కొని పో గలిగినంతకంటె ఎక్కువగా ఒలుచు కొనిరి; కొల్లసొమ్ము అతి విస్తారమైనందున దానిని కూర్చుటకు మూడు దినములు పట్టెను.

25. Jehoshaphat and his army came to take things from the bodies. They found many animals, riches, clothes, and other valuable things. It was more than Jehoshaphat and his men could carry away. There was so much that they spent three days taking everything from the dead bodies.

26. నాల్గవ దినమున వారు బెరాకా లోయలో కూడిరి; అక్కడ వారు యెహోవాకు కృతజ్ఞతాస్తుతులు చెల్లించినందున నేటివరకును ఆ చోటికి బెరాకా లోయ యని పేరు.

26. On the fourth day Jehoshaphat and his army met in the Valley of Beracah. They praised the Lord. That is why people still call that place, 'The Valley of Beracah.'

27. ఈలాగున యెహోవా వారి శత్రువులమీద వారికి జయము అను గ్రహించి వారిని సంతోషపరచెను గనుక యెరూషలేమునకు ఉత్సవముతో మరలవలెనని యూదావారును యెరూషలేమువారును వారందరికి ముందు యెహోషా పాతును సాగి వెళ్లిరి;

27. All the men from Judah and Jerusalem were very happy as they marched back to Jerusalem with Jehoshaphat in the front. The Lord made them very happy when he defeated their enemy.

28. వారు యెరూషలేములోనున్న యెహోవా మందిరమునకు స్వరమండలములను సితారాలను వాయించుచు బూరలు ఊదుచువచ్చిరి.

28. They entered Jerusalem with lyres, harps, and trumpets and went to the Temple of the Lord.

29. ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల శత్రువులతో యెహోవా యుద్ధము చేసెనని దేశముల రాజ్యముల వారందరు వినగా దేవుని భయము వారందరిమీదికి వచ్చెను.

29. People in all the surrounding kingdoms became afraid of God when they heard that the Lord fought against the enemies of Israel.

30. ఈ ప్రకారము అతని దేవుడు చుట్టునున్నవారిని జయించి అతనికి నెమ్మది ననుగ్రహింపగా యెహోషాపాతు రాజ్యము నిమ్మళముగా నుండెను.

30. That is why there was peace for Jehoshaphat's kingdom�his God brought him rest from the enemies that were all around him.

31. యెహోషాపాతు యూదారాజ్యమును ఏలెను. అతడు ఏలనారంభించినప్పుడు ముప్పదియయిదు సంవత్సర ములవాడై యెరూషలేములో ఇరువదియయిదు సంవత్సర ములు ఏలెను; అతని తల్లి షిల్హీ కుమార్తె, ఆమె పేరు అజూబా,

31. Jehoshaphat ruled over the country of Judah. He was 35 years old when he became king, and he ruled 25 years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Azubah, the daughter of Shilhi.

32. అతడు యెహోవా దృష్టికి యథార్థముగా ప్రవర్తించి తన తండ్రియైన ఆసామార్గమందు నడచుచు దానిలోనుండి తొలగిపోకుండెను.

32. Like his father Asa, Jehoshaphat was good and did everything that the Lord wanted, except he did not destroy the high places. Also, the people did not turn back to the God that their ancestors worshiped.

33. అయితే అప్పటికింకను జనులు తమ పితరుల దేవుని వెదకుటకు తమ హృదయములను స్థిరపరచుకొనలేదు, అతడు ఉన్నతస్థలములను తీసివేయలేదు.

34. Everything else Jehoshaphat did, from beginning to end, is written in The Official Records of Jehu Son of Hanoni. It was copied and included in the book, The History of the Kings of Israel.

35. ఇది యయిన తరువాత యూదా రాజైన యెహోషాపాతు మిక్కిలి దుర్మార్గముగా ప్రవర్తించిన ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజైన అహజ్యాతో స్నేహము చేసెను.

35. Later on, King Jehoshaphat of Judah made an agreement with King Ahaziah of Israel. Ahaziah was very evil.

36. తర్షీషునకు పోదగిన ఓడలను చేయింపవలెనని యెహోషాపాతు అతనితో స్నేహము చేయగా వారు ఎసోన్గెబెరులో ఆ ఓడలను చేయించిరి.

36. Jehoshaphat joined with Ahaziah to make ships to go to the town of Tarshish. They built some ships at Ezion Geber.

37. అప్పుడు మారేషా వాడును దోదావాహు కుమారుడునగు ఎలీయెజెరునీవు అహజ్యాతో స్నేహము చేసికొంటివి గనుక యెహోవా నీ పనులను భంగము చేయునని యెహోషాపాతుమీద ప్రవచనమొకటి చెప్పెను. ఆ ఓడలు తర్షీషునకు వెళ్లజాల కుండ బద్దలైపోయెను.

37. There was a man from the town of Mareshah named Eliezer son of Dodavahu. He spoke against Jehoshaphat and said, 'Jehoshaphat, since you have joined with Ahaziah, the Lord will destroy what you have built.' The ships were wrecked, so Jehoshaphat and Ahaziah were not able to send them to Tarshish.
